10 Best Coffee Shops in Edinburgh | Condé Nast Traveler

"In the midst of Stockbridge’s bakeries and thrift shops, the husband-and-wife run Cowan & Sons has steadfastly served the neighborhood for more than 18 years. Distressed white and seafoam-green tiles are keepsakes from the building’s historic roots as a fishmonger's shop; repurposed objects discovered during its restoration were given new life as décor. Mornings offer cappuccinos and other standard coffees, which are brewed from Williams & Johnson Coffee Co. beans; for a little flair, order a matcha or turmeric latte. In the afternoon, trade in the caffeine buzz for European wines, Scottish beers and ciders, or the cheeky list of cocktails." - Danielle Bernabe

Had breakfast here and ordered coffee, cinnamon buns, morning roll and frittata. They have ample seating considering the location and have high chairs available for babies. The cinnamon buns was full of flavour and the morning roll tasted so fresh and yummy. Too many onions in the frittata for my liking but the ingredients were definitely fresh and full of flavour. Didn’t really like the coffee as it was lukewarm with not much flavour in it. Overall it was a good experience and we enjoyed our breakfast there.

I didn't expect anything, but finally it's more than good. I would say 4.4/5.0. The cafe was quite busy but thank God there was a table for two. At least I'll come again for banana bread bowl and some other items we didn't taste. Moreover cappuccino is so soft and nice 👍 meanwhile flat white also very soft, instant to be a bit stronger

Came here today for a takeaway coffee and was met quite rudely by staff as we didn’t see the takeaway window, which they made us go back outside to take our order. After that they were very standoffish with us as if we had made an inconvenience. We ordered one iced latte and the milk was chunky and warm.

I am not sure how this poped up in our to-visit list for brunch but I am sure that we were happy that happened. We decided to visit around noon for brunch while in aread and we were amazed! The food is very very tasty and you can easily spot that they use freash and good quality ingredients. The only comment/suggestion is that they may need to slightly expand the menu. After couple of times it may start to be repetitive if you don't want to expand on the cakes. Eitherway, a must visit place, looking forward for the next time!

We had hot chocolate here. The people serving and making the drinks were kind. However, i felt like the place was very cramped. There wasn’t much room to move. The decor was nice which was a plus. The hot chocolate itself was okay, definitely not the best i’ve had.

Yelp
One of the best cups of coffee I've ever had! Breaks my heart that I don't live in Edinburgh so I can't come back here, but next time I'm across the pond, I will be stopping by here right away

Yelp
The raclette cheese toastie was a treat! Turmeric latte was also served with care. Good feel about the place.

Yelp
Ate here once while staying in Stockbridge. It was really good. The service was very friendly and the breakfast was perfect. Poached eggs were great as was the toast. I think I had roasted cherry tomatoes on my plate....I'm not sure though because if I did, I ate them up so fast! And, really, really good coffee. Introduced to oat milk here too. So good in my coffee. Basically, we loved this place.
