Cox Bay Beach

Another amazing beach to explore in Tofino! 🌊 We accessed Cox Bay Beach for free from our accommodation at Surf Grove, which made it super convenient. The beach is absolutely stunning — wide sandy shores, great waves for surfing, and the most peaceful spot to watch the sunset. 🌅 It’s clean, spacious, and not too crowded, perfect for a morning walk or just to unwind. Definitely a must-visit when staying in Tofino!

Even if you're not a surfer, Cox Bay Beach is a very beautiful beach just to walk around and enjoy the fresh salty west coast air and watch the surfers, play in the sand, build a fort, etc... It's paid parking and can get pretty full with lots of cars. Worth a stop for sure, not a long walk to the beach.

Broad beach, popular with surfers and walkers alike. When the tide is out there are some good spots for tidepooling and both the north and south ends of the beach. Perhaps best enjoyed from one of the adjoining resorts. Note, no campfires permitted (at least during our visit).

Best place in Tofino for surf. The waves are good, especially in the fall/winter. It can be crowded in the evening, but it’s worth it to watch the sunset from the water. Internet can be pretty spotty on the beach, so come prepared.

The hike to cox bay lookout was challenging and not for the unfit. Very rewarding though. We went in the wrong way and it took us twice as long to get there so I've attached a picture with an arrow from the main trail we took back down for anyone else confused about the entrance!

One of the best beaches in Tofino, wouldn’t say it’s the best though. Views are amazing and the walk there is very beginner friendly. I mean… at the end of the day it’s tofino. Great views everywhere. This beach is really big though so you do get your less crowded spaces.
