This was the fourth time I've stayed here within the last year or so. Myself and my boy use it as a base for fishing etc. We pre booked online after the numerous "urgent" requests from Britannia, to "avoid the ques" Joke. You can't avoid the ques there, whether you've pre booked or not. Britannia just want your money up front. Trust me I've never seen check in ques like that in any hotel worldwide. Staff were as always, very good, considering they were understaffed and under a lot of pressure. I appreciate it's not easy to get staff in a location like that though. We stayed in the main part of the hotel. Room 104. It had been refurbished and was pleasant. However, it's like Britannia had done a half job. Nice bathroom, but toilet roll on the floor, no holder. The bottom of the door was broken and wouldn't shut. Nice room though. I appreciate the comments on the annexe, we stayed there the first couple of times. Really not great, like 1950's B&B's at best. They desperately need updating.||The buffet dinner can be a bit hit or miss. However last Saturday's was really good. The leg of lamb, pork belly, bangers & mash and the rest were more than adequate, and to be fair really tasty.|Breakfast, in my opinion was also more than adequate. Plenty of choice, tasty & warm. Not easy to do buffets on that scale. Unfortunately, as is the common thread, a serious lack of staff. Don't pay for dinner or breakfast on the day. Totally unreasonable rates, not worth the money. Book Dinner, bed & breakfast. Then it's reasonable value. Of the four times I've stayed, 2 have been good, 2 have been not so.||Yes, Coylumbridge Hotel is living on past glories when it was the "go to" place. It's now a shadow of it's past.||On a good day with the right room a good dinner & breakfast buffet, It's actually a nice place to stay. On a bad day with a bad room (annexe), an average buffet service, it's really not good.|With The Coylumbridge. "You pay your money, you take your chances".
