The food is delicious. I had the enchiladas with green sauce and they were spot-on. If I have one complaint, is don't order the guacamole unless it is payday LOL $14 for a bowl of guacamole is a little expensive. I work in a restaurant so I understand the expense, that's why I didn't really scoff at it. But if you're not expecting it it could be a jolt. Other than that everything is fantastic.

I have been here a few times & will keep coming back. Always great service. Margarita flight is great if you like margaritas but dont know what flavor to order. Burritos & fajitas are my favorite. The soup & queso are tasteful too.

Coyote in Franklin, NJ, is fantastic! The food is incredible, packed with authentic Mexican flavors. Our server, Ryan, was amazing—so attentive and friendly, making our dinner perfect. We'll definitely be back and asking for him!

I absolutely LOVE this place! Great cocktails and delicious food. Great big portions, fair prices, great green and red sauce with unlimited free chips. Authentic music and decor, lovely out door seating and the staff are really helpful and friendly. Been there a few times will be back! 🙂

We’ve passed this place a dozen times so yesterday, on Cinco De Mayo, we decided to give it a try. Wow and Yum!! What a great place! The food was absolutely delicious! The white sangria was perfect (highly recommend you get the pitcher because one glass will leave you wanting another!). During our meal the waitresses came around offering shots of Tequila ( which were on the house!). We were so stuffed but had to try the desserts.. the Tres Leches was to die for and the Flan was delicious as well! And how fun that both desserts were served with a Jell-O shot! We can’t wait to go back .. 11 out of 10!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We’re from about 5 hours away, and honestly… we’re already debating coming back just for this food — it’s that good! The piña coladas were absolutely amazing (perfect balance of creamy and tropical), the wet burritos were loaded with flavor, and the birria tacos were out of this world — crispy on the outside, tender and juicy inside. The staff was so friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant was spotless. You can tell they really care about what they’re serving and the experience they give their customers. Totally worth the drive — 10/10 recommend! 🌮🍹🔥

My small family and I visited Coyote Cocina Mexicana for my birthday. We were greeted and served chips with salsa promptly! They offered a kids menu and my toddler ate almost all of his dinner (major win)! Our dinners were delicious and had generous portions... lastly they sang Happy Birthday and we were served delicious dessert, on the house. Can't wait to go back!

Cheerful roadside Cucina - you pass it & want to make a u- turn(lol- it’s jersey, silly!) Hand painted chairs transport you. Friendly, attentive staff & very generous portions made this a hit! Sopa mariscos was chock full of fish, fish tacos (3) were large & plentiful. Chicken (a little less Annatto please) & steak fajitas piled high, priced well & delicious. Will be back for sure.

I've been driving past this Mexican restaurant for months and today stopped in to give it a try. While we arrived closer to closing time, we were still welcomed with smiles and a nice ambience. The restaurant is small but has a full bar and nice vibe. Decorated appropriately, the meal matched the feel. I ordered a shrimp meal, which was tasty and quite a large portion, it came with a fresh salad, avocado, rice and beans. My date ordered the burrito bowl and enjoyed all the fixings. We both ordered the margarita flight, $20 a pop and included four flavors: original, mango, guava and passion fruit. I particularly enjoyed the original as the fruit flavors were a bit sweet and syrupy. Alex was awesome, attentive and made us feel right at home. Highly recommend if you're in the area. Give this place a shot!

Overpriced and 20% gratuity for 2 people is ridiculous. I had the churassco steak and shrimp, unfortunately the shrimp was overcooked and the steak was not cooked medium. For $36 shrimp and steak with no rice or salad is outrageous. Most Mexican restaurants offer steak with rice and beans with a side of salad. There is no way to be so stingy with portions. My husband ordered a meal with rice and a salad and it was a tiny serving of rice and the salad was shredded lettuce and tomatoes. I won't be going back because of the overpriced menu and the 20% automatic gratuity added on to the check. I tip according to my dining experience and not on a tip a restaurant demands.

The food is decent but I will never go there again. This restaurant automatically charges 18% gratuity on every bill over $50. Then after I noticed that a gratuity had been automatically added to my bill, I gave them my card to pay and they returned my card with a second paper that only included the total and ANOTHER LINE TO ADD TIP! I asked the manager where my original bill was since I knew the gratuity was listed on it. They had thrown it out. He printed out a new copy for me but wanted to know why I was upset! I was thinking of the other times I went there and added an extra tip not realizing I had already been charged for tip. Be careful here...

Came to have dinner here for the first time and it's a nice little restaurant. Very clean and has good music playing. The service was very good and attentive. The food is okay. I was expecting it to have a little more flavor I guess. It wasn't terrible just kind of bland. The queso fundido was really just queso. I also ordered a piña colada which was really good. Overall not a bad stop. Kinda pricey tho.

easily one of the best mexican places in north jersey. prices are fair, small business, cute inside, and great food. also, margaritas! honestly what else do you need?

Was very hopeful for this place when it first opened up, but now I can see why it's practically empty during dinner on a weekend. A few things to point out. 1. Do not order the queso fundido. It's more like processed cheese soup than actual melted cheese. They used to give tortillas, but not anymore. You are expected to eat it with chips, but it's so soupy a spoon would be better. 2. They changed their chairs but not the tables. The chairs are now more comfortable to sit in, but the tables are very low. Very uncomfortable to eat on. 3. They add gratuity to your check no matter the size of your party. 4. They clean their tables with Fabuloso, which is great if you're mopping a floor, but the smell is SO incredibly strong and unpleasant to eat with. Additionally, Fabuloso has no disinfecting properties.

So yummy! We took food home, very fair portions for the price. Not pictured was the horchata- it was so tasty! My husband is picky but he loved it!! I will definitely be back!

The nachos arrived wrong, with chicken instead of ground beef. It turns out they don't have ground beef but we weren't told that when we ordered. The chips were stale and it was not edible. We sent it back and ordered fajitas, which were delicious. They insisted on charging us for the nachos which is terrible business. It's really hard to mess up nachos and we will not return mostly because they were ungracious.

First time here. Very friendly service and delicious food. Very fast, full plate and margaritas were very good. We will be back.

Fantastic experience. Left with enough for another meal. Drinks were smooth and delicious. Alex took VERY good care of us. The Burito Bowl was very tasty and filling. Glad to see a new business doing well. Not crazy about the tip in the bill , but I guess there are lots of people that poorly tip. Everyone here deserves it.

Today was my first time having dinner here and my experience was outstanding. My waiter Ivan was great. As soon as I sat down, he brought me some chips and salsa and I eventually ordered a Piña Colada and a wet burrito with steak. Everything was delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I really liked how casual the atmosphere was and it was clear that the other guests were enjoying themselves too. If you haven't already been here yet, I recommend that you do and I most definitely look forward to coming back. One note of caution, be mindful of where you park in the parking lot. There are several spaces that are exclusively for the vape shop next door. I think the threats of being towed as well as a surveillance camera is quite excessive, but nevertheless it is what it is I suppose.

Really excited to have authentic Mexican food in Sussex County. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The tortillas for the burrito and enchiladas were light and flaky, and both the chicken and steak were seasoned and cooked well.

This place is very very good. The menu could be bigger but what they offer for now was great. We had the steak wet burrito - it is HUGE! Extremely flavorful. We also ordered the chicken enchiladas. They were also very good. The only negative thing I would say is they offer you 3 enchiladas of either grilled chicken or cheese. They will not allow you to mix them. Seems pretty petty. What's the difference if you want 2 chicken and 1 cheese?? It's the same price. So that is something they could definitely look to change as not only did we ask - but overheard the table across ask same question The waitress did advise there is an automatic 20% gratuity if your bill is more than 50$ before we even ordered. So overall highly recommend. They will need to get the driveway paved as they will not be able to handle snow removal in the winter with gravel !

Overpriced and flavorless. The corner bodegas from where I grew up in Hudson County were a better bargain and full of flavor compared to this place.

The food we received for dinner was small portions & had absolutely no flavor! For Mexican cuisine I expected amazing flavor. My husband & I ordered the enchiladas, my dish was sliced steak with a tiny bowl of beans & a small amount of rice, I had a CAN of soda & my husband had 1 margarita. That's it!!! Our check came to $100.00, oh yes they included 20% tip right onto your check, for 2 people? The dining room felt more like a school cafeteria & there was like 6 employees goofing around dancing in the front of the restaurant, the owner was sitting in a chair by the front door the whole time & said nothing to them, they were pretty loud. Do better!!

Three of us went for an early dinner, 4:45 or so, on a Thursday. Two of us liked our meal, beef tostadas. These were fabulous. However, the negatives earned this place only 3 stars. My other friend ordered the burrito bowl which was "just ok", she said. I've been to many Mexican restaurants and Mexico so maybe I'm going to sound like a snob but the chips and salsa were not good. The chips were super bland, needed salt. We heard the couple at the next table say the same thing. My friend got a mojito and loved it, my other friend got a margarita (didn't qualify for happy hour because it was fruit flavored -strawberry, I think??), also she had to order a shot of tequila to add to it because it tasted like juice. She didn't get another one because of the price of the margarita plus a shot of tequila. I got the margarita flight which was sweet and tasty, but I can't say super alcoholic. The flavors were lime, mango, strawberry, and passion fruit (my favorite). Two other issues we had that will prevent me from going back: it was sooooooooo hot in there we had to move from the first seat by the window and the other seat where we moved was hot too-so hot, in fact, that the two waitresses were fanning themselves with the menus. It was so hot, I ate one tostada and took the rest home to get out of the hot restaurant. We actually left quickly and went across the street to Starbucks where it was cool and spent our money there. They definitely lost drink sales and maybe other food because of the temperature in there. Also, as other reviews say, they add a tip to your bill. We loved our server, he was so nice but I feel a tip is the customer's choice. We do 20% or more always but for 3 people, it shouldn't be added to the bill automatically. To recap, tostadas we're great BUT other good was marginal, expensive food and drinks (especially for the area), tip added to bill, and way too hot.

Wow! As soon as you walk into this place, it is as if you are stepping into what should expect that family party that stems from the garage to the basement and should be less tables to dance LOL They definitely kept up with the pop Spanish hits and everyone was lovely! Incredibly comfy and cozy as if you are in their home with its design! Now, for the food. Hands down the BEST Birria and Horchata I've had out, Chorizo and steak bowl was also amazing. I cannot believe it isn't Abuela herself cooking in that kitchen!!! Portions are huge and very generous as well so we didn't mind the prices at all lol The menu DOES state that there is a 20% Gratuity charge on orders over $50, I think people fail to remember the place was vandalized and the windows were shattered during the vandalism just before they had the chance to even open up, they are also local and need to make some income. A lot of Spanish food is an ALL DAY process so if you GENUINELY can't afford to tip 20% out.. then just don't go out. Nobody should be complaining of CC Surcharge, everywhere does it and has for decades *Parking lot could be a lot better, we did not need another, smoked shop in Sussex as there are already PLENTY LMAO

The service was good but the food wasn't as good as it should have been. The steak and chicken were both over cooked and dry. The atmosphere is that of a wannabe cozy but it just doesn't make it there. They are to high priced for the quality of the food. They have an 18% automatic gratuity on any bills $50 and over, which means every bill will have an automatic tip added weither you like it or not. But you get to pay 20% should you have 6 people. Been to a lot better places with much better food and worth every penny, but it's not this place. We won't be going back to eat over cooled food at ridiculously high prices.

Just tried Coyote Cocina Mexican...highly recommend! Food was delicious! The service is quick & courteous. Can't wait to come back again!!

OK...Made a second visit to Coyote and want to update my previous review...let me first list what we had to eat: 1 - Quacamole appetizer (waitress said it was made fresh) taste was very good, portion about typical for most restaurants 2 - Queso appetizer..lacking taste..rather bland 3 - Quesadilla appetizer with chorizo filling....taste was very nice...but very skimpy on the filling 4 - we had three (3) drinks...frozen marguerita, glass of house wine, mixed drink...all were fine NOW, HERE COMES THE SHOCK! The check, including tax was $102.xx...Surprised?. SHOCKED!! After closer scrutiny of the bill we noticed a 20% gratuity had been included. EXCUSE ME! There were only two (2) of us! I've been to Morton's Steakhouse, The Four Seasons, and many, many other top restaurants and NEVER have I seen an automatic gratuity for two people. Six or more, yes! But NEVER for two. And I do not recall any printed notice of this absurd policy. WHAT ARE THEY DOING? Are they hoping people won't notice, and end up double tipping? I'm sorry to say, I can accept many 'start-up' hiccups, but I can't overlook what appears to be an intended misdirection towards the customer. Regardless of the convenience factor, WE WON'T BE BACK!

Very tasty tacos Al pastor and they deliver via door dash! It's just a little pricey and I wish they had a larger margarita selection.

Food is authentic and amazing! Excellent portions, great prices and the service is great! Very friendly staff, they really make you feel like they are so glad you are there! Margaritas are spectacular! Can't wait to go back! I would recommend this restaurant, great addition to Franklin NJ.

I was so excited for this place to open and to have Mexican food near home. Unfortunately, I rode a motorcycle and can't park in their gravel parking lot. Maybe I could but I'd rather not risk it. Also after reading the menu, the prices are steep. Finally, some reviews indicated a 20% gratuity if bill was over $50. I generally leave at least 20% or more, but given a burrito is $21, I can see the bill easily hitting $50, and well, I may come across as a cheapskate, but I don't like being forced to pay a gratuity. I understand when it's a large group, but never seen that based on the amount of the check. What if the server doesn't warrant it? Nope. I'll pass. I'll bet that policy and the strange policy of not being able to order different things, or two tacos is going to run people the wrong way and while they may be busy now, they will go the way of Taco of the Town" in Sussex, which failed because it was overpriced. When you open a new restaurant, your food should less expensive, give good portions and bend over backwards when customers request things like mixing quesadilla types, especially given that cheese and chicken quesadilla's are the same price. It's such a simple philosophy and one shared by every busy and great restaurant ever opened. Great food, great service. Listen to your customers and offer good value will ensure success. 1-2 years before they close if they stuck to current policies. It's a shame. I had such high hopes.

Great Mex food and drinks. Parking is a little tight, but overall had a great experience. Staff was very friendly.

Let's start with the positives. It is quality Mexican food with a liquor license in Sussex County. It is right on Route 23 with parking lot next to the store front. The staff is quite attentive and the service was quick. I asked the waitress for her favorite thing on the menu and she suggested the birra tacos and I happily ordered it. After taking our order, she brought out warm chips and salsa and put two hot sauces on the table, a green verde one and a red hot one. As a fan of heat, the red one was hot and added a nice kick to the salsa. My birra tacos were gigantic and came three to an order. I was only able to consume 1 and a half, taking the third home for lunch the next day. The tacos were filled with delicious slow cooked beef that fell apart in my mouth. I did ask for no cilantro on mine, as I am not a fan. This is where it dropped from a 5 star to a 4 star. It came with cilantro on it, the waitress politely left mine on the table, had the kitchen make me a fresh one, and then took back the one that had the cilantro on it. I was a little confused as to why she left it there first, and then the manager came over and explained she left it there to show that they were making me a fresh one as opposed to just taking off the cilantro. A class move.

i had the wet burrito. it was excellent! Staff was helpful and pleasant. I would definitely recommend going. I can't wait to try another meal!!!!

Food was very amazing and tasty, service was very nice and quick. they charged gratuity with out giving us any itemized receipt showing that. Everyone should be able to know exactly what they're paying for , I was about to double tip if I hadn't asked. I would have left a way bigger tip if this didn't happen but it made me feel so uncomfortable.

This was our 1st time here, and glad we tried it. I got the Red Enchiladas, my wife got the Tostadas. We were both very happy with our choices, as the quality was really good, and the serving size was just right. Although the place was relatively crowded, the service was excellent, very attentive. The price was reasonable compared with other restaurants in the area. The decor was nice, not overdone. We will go back again.

Everything was great. Glad to see a little spice finally come to Franklin township and the Sussex county area. Taco Bell is cool and all but times have changed and real food is hard to find. Food was delicious, pricing was decent, and timing was very fast for in house service. Recommend going for lunch specials if possible, can't beat the pricing and can't wait to see what else they can bring to the table.

Great place. Many items to choose from on the lunch menu. Quesadilla was huge the chicken was well seasoned. Enchiladas were 3 in an order came with rice & beans. Try the cocktails-excellent margaritas!

My wife and I were there for the grand opening and are glad we did. We started out with the Ceviche and then moved on to the Molcajete. Both were excellent! Of course we had a corona and a margarita flight to accompany our dinner. The place is vibrant with great artwork on the walls which supports the great atmosphere. We're glad that this area now has a different dining choice with a great location. We're coming back!

My family and I have gone to this restaurant numerous times and each time we have gone the food has been magnificent, seems to get better each time that we've gone. The staff is always pleasant and respectful. Along with the accommodating managerial staff, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone that visits the area. Come and enjoy the excellent Mexican cuisine. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED

Went for lunch. Was excited to try it out and walked out very disappointed. Food was good, but way overpriced. Ordered a Sangria and it came in a small tumbler glass that was 3/4 filled with ice and fruit. Sorry but that is just wrong. You can't charge those prices for something like that. Other restaurants will give you a sangria in a larger wine glass or a goblet type of glass. 4 sips and it was gone. Atmosphere was ok - but the bright white lights need to be changed out for something softer. Also there was no mention on the menu or at entrance that said extra charge for credit card or for automatic 18% tip. I thought it was the law that this had to be visible somewhere. I see others saying they were charged 20% tip. Just not right - won't be back. And it's a shame - they are going to put themselves out of business and Sussex county needs new restaurants.
