Spring Wildflowers at Coyote Wall — Absolutely Stunning! After hiking Dog Mountain at the end of last May, I completely fell in love with wildflower hikes. On April 25, we visited Coyote Wall Trail — and it absolutely blew me away. The scenery is not only beautiful and dramatic, but the blooming wildflowers were breathtaking — it truly felt like heaven on earth. We hiked about 6 miles, and with plenty of stops for photos, it took us around 4 hours. Tips: •Wear long pants to protect yourself from ticks. Also hiking poles can be helpful. •We encountered two rattlesnakes along the trail, but they were not aggressive — they rattled to warn us and moved away on their own. •Even though it was spring, the weather was hot — make sure to bring plenty of water, wear sunscreen, and be prepared for almost no shade. Highly recommend visiting during wildflower season — it’s an unforgettable experience! No pass is required. No parking fee but limited parking space.

With reluctance I am offering my review of this beautiful place. Currently it is less popular than other sites in the Columbia gorge and it would be lovely to stay that way! 😊 There is beautiful, mixed terrain and fantastic panoramic views of the gorge. If you visit, please do your part to keep the trail clean, and stay on the trail to keep the landscape beautiful too! Some trails are shared with mountain bikes.

Beautiful trail. Lots of flowers at the top on 4/26/25. A little steep hike before reaching the wildflowers. Ran into a small rattlesnake on my way down so be sure to stay on the trail and keep your dog close. Would definitely hike again.

Up up up! If you want a nice, challenging hike up a well groomed path, this is a great one. It was beautiful. We had hiked here many times before but had never taken full advantage of going all the way to the top. 6.5 miles round trip. It was 3 hrs exactly at a moderate pace. 1900 ft elevation gain/loss. We didn’t take our dogs. It was too long and too steep of a hike for them.

Stunning location. This is an easy trail but largely uphill. Take your time and enjoy the views but do stay on the trail to avoid ticks and the occasional rattlesnake.

This is one of the beginner friendly trails in the gorge. Smoother trail for the most part except lose rocks of course. You can pretty much turn around wherever you want and you start seeing views from literally 10mins into the hike. Beware of mountain bikers as the bike trail sort of intersects the hiking trails at several points.

This is now one of my favourite hikes in Washington ♥️ breathtaking views as you keep going up towards the coyote wall. It gets steep after you complete 50% of the hike towards coyote wall. Take the little Moab trail to get amazing views of the highways, loop lake and gorgeous Columbia river gorge 😍 I’m pretty such this will be 5X more beautiful during spring and fall 😁 was beautiful during winters too 😃free parking available and amazing hike for Oregonians(Portlanders) to try out!

This hike is always STUNNING, however, there are snakes on and off the trails. I had a run in with a rattlesnake and he rattled at me (this is not a super common encounter), but please keep an eye out and KEEP YOUR DOG ON A LEASH. We also saw other species of snakes on the trail. Flowers are almost full bloom. I was up on April 15
