Crab Shed Salcombe

Food was amazing. Usually a bit skeptical about crab but this one is one if a kind. The shrimps were so good and best paella I’ve had. Even better than what I’ve had in Spain. Premium food. Staff were very hospitable and helped with the meal selection! 10⭐️

Had a brilliant meal at The Crab Shed in Salcombe. The dressed crab was absolutely delicious so fresh and full of flavour and the crab fries were next-level amazing! The staff were really friendly and helpful, making the whole experience even better. Such a great spot, relaxed, welcoming, and perfect for anyone who loves proper fresh seafood. Can’t wait to go back!

I can’t remember the last time I visited a restaurant in a Boat & Car Park, but the Crab Shed does overlook parts of Salcombe. Multiple sittings, so look lively on the eating front, we just about managed it. Ordered the (Hot) Fruits de Mer for 2, should you decide the same, you do NOT need to order anything else ! Ambiance and Lighting not quite right, front of the bar features what appears to be industrial white lights, whilst the rear of the bar sits in virtual darkness. Only food disappointment was the Bread, if I was a baker visiting a seafood and shellfish cathedral, I would be shocked that the restaurant valued their fresh food, but didn’t value ‘real’ bread. If you want to test if your bread is bread, squash the open crumb with your thumb or forefinger, if the indent bounces back, it’s real bread, if your finger indent remains it’s not a good bread. Happy Chefs, cheerful and very nice interactive staff. Well done to all concerned. The ‘Bread Man’ from hell will be back to visit The Crab Shed, stay tuned for any updates ……..

My family and I visited this amazing place during our holiday in Salcombe. Lovely location, fabulous staff (Emma, Natasha and Ellie) were super friendly and welcoming. They went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed ourselves. And as for the food itself, it was absolutely fantastic, the presentation was spectacular and we all agreed it was the best seafood we’d ever had. Sensational. Couldn’t recommend this place highly enough. We will definitely be back!

Really wonderful meal here. Service was very good, professional, friendly, there when you need them. The outside tables could do with slightly improved weather protection, one table in particular has no weather protection due to a broken awning. Cooking of the food was very good nearly perfect, all the food was extremely fresh, the scallops were large and very tasty, lobster was over cooked for my liking either that or I was eating a frozen one, clams on the v.small side, still one of the best choices in the country for a sea food spectacular. 9 out of 10. Can’t wait to return.

Had a lovely lunch here celebrating my Fiancée’s birthday. We chose the Fruits De Mare and do not regret our decision. I’d highly recommend stopping here if you’re visiting Salcombe. Remember to book! As it’s popular.

What a wonderful dining experience. Nice to return, and despite the high expectations after our previous visit, we were blown away by the quality of our Easter Sunday lunch. Dog friendly so perfect for a post-walk lunch. The standard menu with a special starter and a catch of the day. Wonderful service from the off, pitched perfectly. We decided on a terrace table to enjoy the sea air as we ate. Food highlights included the special starter of the soft taco with breaded plaice with a beautiful offsetting salsa. The crab bisque is always a joy. Moules marinière was accompanied by the crabby fries. Possibly the best moules I've ever had. Nice to know also from where the various seafood has been sourced. All local of course. We couldn't manage pudding, despite the temptation of a sticky toffee pud. Espressos rounded off the meal, ready for the onward walk. Such a perfect place to enjoy some of the best seafood around. Cooked with great skill, and served by lovely people. Bravo.
