One of the most beautiful waterfall hikes in Virginia. The trail follows the falls almost the entire way up, so you get multiple viewpoints instead of just one. The sound of the water stays with you the whole hike, it’s really peaceful and refreshing. The falls are tall and dramatic, especially after recent rain, and the greenery around them makes it feel like a little mountain rainforest. Some parts of the trail are a bit steep and rocky, but there are railings in most of the steeper areas, and the views are absolutely worth the climb. At the top, you’re rewarded with a wide overlook of the mountains and valley below, perfect spot to just sit and breathe for a few minutes before heading back down. If you love waterfalls, this is a must-do. Beautiful, calming, and one of those hikes that stays in your memory.

I drove a little over 2 hours to come to Crabtree Falls and it was totally worth it. It cost $3 with the honor system. It's a 1.7 mile hike up, but I only made it 0.6 miles before my body said no way 🤣. I will be back to conquer it

Definitely for the more experienced hiker. Absolutely breathtaking especially when you get to the top.

Such a beautiful hike! Never gets old as I've lived almost my entire life 25 minutes away. Just be very careful as rocks can be slippery and cell service is not that great in the area.

We got there early and previously rained, trail is a bit wet but we like some challenge, plenty of parking if you get there early enough but not too early as I fear that if something goes wrong there are no soul in sight to ask got help (wild animal attack). We enjoyed the peace of traversing it up and have the place to ourselves. Great pictures without being photo bomb. On the way down that’s where the crowd starts to thicken and get busy.

Easy 1.7mile hike to the top. Can be up and down in 2 hours.

Great place to be. The hike is moderate and doable with kids. My 7yr old was very happy since we reached the top. This is a rocky terrain and will be slippery when it has rained . Few trees had fallen and blocked the trail and had to jump or slouch under it to continue. Having hiking sticks will help.

We took our 5 year old and our 8 year old. They did great on the hike but I don’t recommend bringing kids younger than 5. It’s uphill and some of the rock steps are steep and need longer legs to get over. Great hike, very rewarding. Go early to find a parking space.
