11 Best Hikes in Glacier National Park for Every Skill Level

"This trail begins at the Many Glacier Hotel parking lot—and you'll need to be prepared to share the path with horses. But it'll take you through a forest, before the trees open up and offer a glimpse of rugged mountains beyond, including Mount Siyeh, one of the tallest peaks in the park at 10,019 feet. If you still have energy, you can head to the far end of the lake to see the old Cracker Lake Mine site, which was established in 1897 after copper was discovered nearby. Today, hikers will find remnants of the old mine. Though this trail is long, it is fairly easy to follow, making it ideal for active families."

Beautiful hike in Many Glacier. We first wanted to hike Grinell Pass, but we where there end june so it was closed because of snow. Did the 13 miles (21.5km) walk up to Cracker Lake from the hotel parking. Parking lot was ful at 6.00am because of the construction work. The walk was okay, not to much height. We walked up to the bump of a grizzly within the first mile. Luckily it was walking away from us. At the top at Cracker Lake we've got charged by a 500 pound grizzly mom with two small cubs. We where lucky that there was a group of 6 other people right in front of us. One of them went in front of the bear and chased it away. The adrenaline was pumping. No one was harmed. Good to know the path is full of bears! Especially in summer when the berry bushes are out. We where there end of june, there was no berry at all and still spotted 2 grizzlys. When we drove back out of the park, we also saw a black bear grazing next to the road.

This is one of the best hidden gems in the Park. Jaw dropping lake, can't really describe its beauty in words. It's a 12 mile moderate hike. I kept my legs soaked in the cold water for about half an hour 😉

12 miles total with 1500 feet of vert. The views start to show after 4 miles and it is stunning. Cracker Lake is a beautiful shade of glacial turquoise. Saw a few dozen people but not super busy.

Guys, if you have not been here, you have to come. This was one of the funnest hikes we did in Glacier. It is relatively flat, 12 miles, but the end is amazing! The water is really cool and you can even jump off the cliffs into the water if it's a hot day. I would recommend coming here for sure if you have time. Great spot to picnic and there is a campsite as well.

Not a very hard hike at all. Finding parking in July is awful but parking anywhere in Glacier is abysmal. Trail starts out around the reservoir. I literally almost stepped on a sow and cub black bear while getting to the first creek crossing, luckily she was content munching vegetation. The trail then switchbacks up a ridge, eventually climbing up into fields of millions of wildflowers. We camped there, and it felt like there was a tornado going on. Huge gusts that actually collapsed the tent on us multiple times. First time that's ever happened. Reguardless, well worth the hike.

This has to be one of the most unique lakes I saw while at Glacier and well worth the somewhat lengthy hike. The trail wasn't terribly strenuous with long switchbacks on places where you did have to climb. We also saw a bear right of the trail during this hike, the only time during our visit in the park that we saw a bear while hiking. It was also fun to find the old mining equipment, and even find that it was manufactured near my hometown in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Incredible!! Yes it’s just as amazing as described. There is a great write up on the national park site that will guide you mile by mile practically. Very doable - don’t get deterred by the distance, it’s worth it. Late summer offered incredible blooms. Round trip was about 6 hours. ***Bear spray is a must! Lots of sightings of black and brown bears throughout the year on miles 2-4ish.

Lake is phenomenal. However, the first part of the trail is too muddy and uneven.
