After a couple of challenging nights trying to find filling vegan food around Cradle Mountain, dining at Hellyer Restaurant was such a welcome and memorable experience.
Our waiter, Andres, was an absolute standout - charming, attentive, and genuinely helpful. He liaised with the chef and guided me through the menu with care, making it easy to choose great vegan-friendly options.
I had the mushroom medley entrée, with broccolini, pumpkin, and chips to share with vegan mayonnaise - everything was beautifully cooked, flavourful, and satisfying. The real surprise came with dessert: two generous scoops of delicious vegan coconut ice cream, which felt like a rare treat in this region.
We also dined here on our first night arriving at Cradle Mountain, when I had the vegan cauliflower main, which was equally beautiful and delicious.
The service, the quality of the food, and the stunning mountain views made this a standout dining experience. It’s also a wonderfully cosy and warm place to relax, especially on colder days.
Highly recommend Hellyer Restaurant to any vegans visiting the area - the price is absolutely worth it for the care, quality, atmosphere, and experience.
One suggestion: more vegan dessert options (that aren’t “sorbet”)
