An incredible meal. Just superb. What a gem on Broad street in Augusta. This is the first meal I ate when visiting the city on business, and joined up with a colleague here at his recommendation. Man oh man. I don't think I'll be able to make a future trip without coming back. Everything was well above board. Food, ambience, service, drinks. All spectacular.
We truly enjoyed a feast on this visit. The first thing I have to point out... HAPPY HOUR! We don't get to have happy hour in North Carolina because there is some ridiculously stupid old law on the books from the temperance period that should never ever happen again, that we may just now be getting rid of in 2023. To celebrate this occasion, a French 75 and a Sazerac were imbibed. Both well crafted and truly tasty.
We might have taken the idea of small bites and tapas to the wrong end of the extreme spectrum, because we ordered far too much food. Enough to be uncomfortably full. But it was just so darn delicious. We started off with their deviled eggs of the week, follow by a duck poutine. The eggs were really good, but man, that duck poutine changed me. Not only was the duck top notch, but the gravy had deep savory flavor.
After that came "The Pizza-ing" where we had pretzel bites with a delicious beer cheese sauce, and two of their pizzas, which sounded small in our brains but ended up being a good bit larger in practice. "The Spicy" and "The Mushroom". As both of their names would indicate, they lived up to what they promised! The spicy left a slow burn in your mouth, while being meaty with a tasty tomato sauce and tender dough. The mushroom was creamy and cheesy but with plenty of those shroomy nuggets packed with oven baked flavor.
This would be pretty much the perfect place to take anyone on any occasion. The staff were all dressed festive because it was actually Valentine's Day, but that appears to be a normal thing here. They go all out for most holidays, I am told. An incredible ambience and overall, top notch restaurant experience!
