"Craftex has a great offering of discounted, current books. There are aisles of titles covering art, design, architecture, fashion, interiors, gardening, cooking and more. There are also candles, silk flowers, ribbon (good grosgrain selection), garden sculptures, pots, fountains, and a massive Christmas decor annex. The rows of decoratives, fake fruit, vases, ornaments etc. are fun to browse but for us the books alone make the journey worthwhile. Note: Craftex is a bit hidden and technically outside of the Greater Sharpstown boundary. Also, they are a wholesaler and require a tax id." - ph Design Shop

This place is very beautiful but EXTREMELY overpriced. They were charging $550 for a cloth pumpkin. Home goods and Walmart have the same ones for way cheaper. Christmas trees were almost a $1000 or more. You really have to shop to find a decent deal. There are other ma/pa places that are much more affordable. It is a cute place to look around though. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

I have heard for years about Craftex, but only with the last year had I visited the wonderful place. The variety of holiday decor is amazing. The workshops offered are filled with tons of information, tips and tricks for the professional and amateur decorator alike. The designers are all so willing to help and guide you as you make the workshop piece. Highly recommended for any that are wanting to learn how to make a home decor piece or take it to the next level!

Best place beyond met my expectations. It is a wonderful place for wholesalers to get all the holiday decorations they need, and when it's not holiday time they have a entire other Warehouse full of florals and all kinds of things

Great place to buy coffee table designer books. Prices were not amazing for the Christmas decor however. Though, the decor is indeed high quality. Customer service was lovely and they had people directing traffic for parking which was fantastic. The parking lot is quite small otherwise. All in all, would recommend a visit for the books

We went into Christmas. Lots of unique items. Seems to not be competitively priced even with wholesale pricing. Many options regardless.

Craftex - The Coolest Store in Houston
Tucked onto a side street in Bellaire, just off of Bellaire Boulevard near Hillcroft, is the amazing Craftex. I discovered the place through my friend, Greg Buchold. I had been admiring a Mardi Gras mask and wreath that he had put on his door and he told me about the place.
I went looking for Mardi Gras stuff but was blown away by the extensive collection of cookbooks and design books that they sell, all discounted from retail list prices.
But there was much much more.
Just when I think I've seen everything there is to see in Houston, something new pops up on my radar.
Lots of plastic and foam decor for Christmas that would be good for large scale installations or entryways. I found the prices pretty reasonable and lots of discounts by 12/10. The normal side was even cooler - lots of beautiful, new, relevant art and crafts books 20-30% off MSRP. Tons and tons of ribbon. Like a city block worth. Tons of tissue paper and packaging material. Tons of vase and candle selection. All in all, wonderful selection for party-related businesses. Like a less campy party city. Less of a relevant selection for a grandma in town looking for more knitting yarn.
Their customer service operations is on point. Around the holidays, this place is packed and they have so many employees to assist with parking (either in parking lot or along the streets), in the store to assist while shopping and plenty of folks at check out and to help wrap your goods to ensure no damage getting them home. Highly recommend, although don't want to scream this too loud at risk of everyone finding out about this gem!
