If you are looking for a cosy spot to stay with your four-legged friend, look no further than Craig-y-Dderwen Riverside Hotel. We brought our whippet along for the night and we all felt incredibly welcome from the moment we arrived. We stayed in a Standard Room which was brilliant; it was spacious enough for the dog and extremely cosy for us. It’s rare to find a standard room that feels this comfortable and well-appointed. The location is absolutely ideal. Being right in Betws-y-Coed, the hotel is perfectly situated for exploring Snowdonia, with stunning scenery and walks right on the doorstep. The hotel itself has a lovely, peaceful vibe that makes it perfect for a recharge after a day outdoors. It was an excellent stay from start to finish, and we can’t wait to come back

Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. Our standard room was spotless, well equipped and large. Great toiletries and lovely white soft towels. |The hotel is quiet. It’s a 10-15 minute walk into the centre.|The breakfast was good. We decided not to have dinner in the restaurant as we were not keen on the menu choices. I would recommend this hotel if you prefer to be a little further out of town and enjoy a quiet scenic setting.

Just got back from one night stay here. Absolutely fantastic place. Room was large and clean and decking with covered hot tub overlooking the river was amazing. The hotel and room was also dog friendly and our furry friend enjoyed his stay too and was also given a sausage for breakfast. Will definitely be returning

I have never stayed here as I live locally but have visited a few times to enjoy a drink and the beautiful view. We always receive a warm welcome. It feels like a lovely secret place.

My daughter and I booked a 2 night stay at the Craig-y-Dderwen hotel Oct 2025. As I am disabled I opted for their 'accessible' room which advertised all flat floors, complete wheelchair accessible, wider doors and walk-in- shower. Ramps from car park area to the accessibility room (room 1). Also no offered assistance with luggage from car to room.|On arrival my daughter checked in by Michelle who although friendly was not very helpful with no assistance with any luggage and hand pointing gestures when asked the way to our room.|I use a Powerchair and the first obstacle was a very steep ramp with a sharp turn down to the reception . It would be very difficult for any one to push someone in a wheelchair up the ramp to car park as far it's too steep. A path went around the outside (which was very poorly lit at night and I almost tipped out of my chair into the nearby bushes as couldn't see the path) of the building to room 1 with a completely unsuitable small ramp off to the door of room 1 with no room to maneuver the powerchair (which is not a large model) into the room.|The room itself was not flat and only the door to the toilet (which had no grab rails only a moveable metal support frame that fitted around the toilet) had been widened. The door to the separate shower room had not been widened and was of normal width which made it impossible to get in in any wheelchair because of the angles involved.|We complained to Michelle at reception and asked if they had any other rooms available as we were not happy and was told 'no' only had that one. There didn't appear to be many other guests in the hotel and I know they had at least one other accessible room. There was no offer of any kind to better the situation.|For the cost and 4 star rating we were expecting a much better experience. This is only a 3 star at best with dingy rooms and misleading info on the room facilities.|We only stayed 1 night and moved to another hotel which was less rated but outshone the Craig-y-Dderwen. Mark, who was manning the reception when we decided to leave, was also unhelpful and didn't show any concerns about our complaints or tried help rectify any issues.|I most definitely would not recommend anyone with disabilities staying here and if you do my advise would be to steer clear of room 1.

The location by the river is lovely (perhaps the main road over the river a little noisy whilst outside during the day) and the room was a good standard, which it should be at over £200 per night....but the bathroom, although spacious, was dated and had no walk-in shower. The room description said bath and shower, not shower over bath with a shower curtain. As a Blue Badge holder I find getting into a bath difficult, also the shower head sprayed water everywhere from the worn connection to the hose.|Other than our room the rest of the hotel felt tired and dated, in need of a more luxurious refurbishment to even begin to justify it's 4 star rating.||The evening meal was ok but unnecessarily small portions given the high prices charged.|We were on a meal inclusive, slightly discounted rate (still expensive), but it didn't include a desert ??.... which just seemed like a ploy to get you to spend more money.|We chose a modest bottle of Shiraz, around £27, but it was extremely poor quality.|The breakfast was not good. Particularly the badly cooked 'Full Welsh' and the coffee from the dated pump dispenser which was utterly dreadful.|The charges for 'extras' was quite a shock. £6.95 for some bread with first course, followed by £14.95 for one cheese course, plus over 20 quid for a pint of 1664 lager and a G&T.||The staff were helpful enough and helped with bag carrying as we were on the 2nd floor but our host on the day constantly felt the need to make 'amusing' quips which soon became irritating.||Several previous reviews mention the lovely owner. Unfortunately she did not seem to be present during our stay.|I've given a 3 out of 5 rating due to the location and the room (not bathroom), but honestly i feel that is being kind.|The previous night we had stayed in a wonderful 4 star hotel near Dolgellau. I am afraid the Riverside Hotel did not come close to it.

If North Wales is one of destinations in Great Britain, do not hesitate to book this gem of a hotel in Betws y Coed, Snowdonia. We stayed 2 nights here and enjoyed our four poster bed with magnificent views of the River Conwy and lush and picturesque gardens with sheep grazing! The staff here are very friendly and pleasant, especially Michelle and Dale. Enjoyed delightful breakfasts with the River views. The Welsh dinner was exceptional and presented an exquisite cuisine, especially the lamb. This was one of our highlights of our trip! Thank you!

Wanted to stay here for a while having read some of the reviews. Finally made it for a quick Friday night escape yesterday. Wow I wasn’t disappointed. The welcome, room, service, food and the setting were fabulous. |Well worth the money and the wait. |Diolch team CyD - I’ll be back 😎
