Just a 5‑minute walk from the city centre, this traditional Romanian restaurant is a must‑visit. The menu covers dishes from all three main regions of the country, and everything we tried was delicious: the pork stew with polenta was hearty and meaty, the cheese polenta with smoked meat was rich and flavorful, and the papanași dessert, though a bit over‑fried, was still very good.
Service was excellent — attentive waiters in traditional costumes added to the authentic vibe. The restaurant itself is located underground in a vaulted cellar space, giving it a rustic, cozy atmosphere.
Book ahead for dinner or arrive early. We got lucky at 7pm with the last free table, but a long queue formed soon after. Very popular spot, especially with tourists.
