Since school has been out, I have a bit more me time and giving my home gym lots of attention. But come evening when hubs wraps up at the office, he and I take time to explore different trails as much as possible.
Minutes away from Armonk is Cranberry Lake in West Harrison, NY. This is more than kicking some dirt- these are hiking trails in their purest form so definitely wear hiking shoes/boots to take in the free entrance and Mother Nature in all her glory.
After parking, you'll see picnic tables in a designated space then the trek gives you the chance to hike through dense high and low peak trails, some smooth paths and many rocky ones full of exposed tree roots (this is where hiking shoes come in). I'm not sure how much the entire park covers but the further you walk, you'll notice a bridge, pond and historical placards on the Preserve,
Hubs and I enjoyed our early evening hike. Aside from Cranberry's ruggedness, this was more than just putting one foot in front of the other or getting from point A to point B. It's more about the scenery, the wildlife and being one with Nature.
