Crankhouse is worth a visit to Exeter. Every visit I've made, I've been increasingly impressed by the range of coffees, cakes and savoury treats. The filter coffee is strong and showcases the bean well from previous experience. Today we tried the drip coffee which had pink lemonade notes, sweet and mild - perfect balance. The flat white was the nicest coffee I've had in a long time.
The in-house roastery is always a treat, but what stole the show today was the cakes and savoury snacks on offer. Many places in Exeter offer cakes, many of those places use a supplier. Everything at crankhouse was fresh and homemade and it stands out. The ricotta and sun-dried tomato bun was spectacular, the banana bread hit the spot a treat and the lemon tart was delicious. Everyone was convinced they'd made the right choice with their order!
Lastly, the ice tea was a hit. Cold brew steeped, no sweet syrup shortcuts. Loved by our resident tea drinkers, impressed the coffee crew too. Fabulous coffee shop.
