Crater Lake Lodge

I stayed here for two nights with my wife and kids, 5 people total. Our room had two queen beds and they brought in a roll away for an additional fee nightly. The room was dated, but clean and comfortable. There is no TV or AC, which we knew when we booked and were fine with, except it was an unusually warm late August, so the room never really cooled down, even with the windows fully open. Fans were provided but did not help much. The location is incredible, right on the rim of the caldera with views that cannot be beat. It was really wonderful to be in the park after the day tripping crowds were gone. Drinks on the patio were wonderful and a great memory. The sunset and nighttime stars were breathtaking.

Update 10/25 A representative from the lodge reached out to me. We spoke via email about the issue. The housekeeper for our particular room has been retrained and they provided me with a credit on the account. That’s what I call customer service! The location can’t be beat you’re right on the edge of the crater. The people that work there are super friendly and welcoming. The food is quite tasty. Our room was comfortable. Beds were comfortable. The water temperature in the shower is consistent and good. My biggest complaint is the mold in the bathroom. There’s mold growing on several of the tiles and there is a ton of mold on the shower liner… disgusting!

Stayed here twice. Once when just reopened. That was great. Then stayed one night during a hot spell in September and our room was stifling. They gave us a fan but fan not really helpful. I haven't been here since 2012 so don't know if there have been any room conditioning changes. Everything else about this place is great. Restaurant, great lounge and views outside aren't bad...

We stayed in the park at the Lodge since there wasn't much in the local area. It was a great choice. I would recommend. Dinning onsite was great but worth making reservations. We very much ejoyed sitting on the porch watching the sunset and sunrise over the lake. We went in September but made reservations a few months in advance and would recommend that approach.

Let me start by saying that we enjoyed staying at a place inside the park; that is why we opted to pay $340 for one night. But, I had higher expectations for what $340/night would get us. A few things bothered me, some were minor and some were unacceptable in my opinion. Let me start with what I liked:||1. I liked the view of the lake from the deck||2. I liked that there was an onsite restaurant||3. I liked that it was convenient to explore Crater Lake National Park, as we were based in the park itself.||4. I liked that we were able to watch the starry night from the deck, the sunset and the sunrise.||5. I enjoyed my dinner and breakfast at the restaurant.||What I did NOT like:||1. First and foremost, the toilet was filthy and the shower had mildew on the tiles. This bathroom was not thoroughly cleaned before our check-in. It actually looked like it had not been cleaned for a while. Just look at the photos I am attaching, it was disgusting||2. There was a used towel that was hanging on the hook behind the bathroom door. What that meant was that the bathroom was not cleaned thoroughly.||3. The line to check in was long and it took a long time waiting in line; they only had 2 people checking guests in. ||4. The sink in the bathroom had no counter space to actually put toiletries comfortably. It was also very high, so as a short person, i was unable to use it comfortably.||5. The room was dusty.||6. The shower curtain was disgustingly filthy.||7. I paid for a deluxe room with views of the lake. There were views of the lake, but the windows were filthy so it was actually more frustrating, than rewarding.||||Yes, i loved the fact that we stayed in the National Park, and loved the look and feel of the lodge itself but mildew on the bathroom tiles and under the toilet seat is unacceptable even when I pay $150/night, so when I pay $340/night......................it's beyond unacceptable.||||If this is what the current management is delivering to their guests, it's time for new management!||||... and before i get a response from management letting me know that they regret we had a poor experience and got a room that has not been cleaned for a while, we were there on September 1, and stayed in a Deluxe Lake Side 1 Room with a queen bed.

No TVs just so you know. But the place is beautiful inside. Romantic, woodsy, warm and inviting. Huge fire place, with a beautiful deck to view the stars and lake. Restaurant on the side has amazing drinks, but gets very busy. So dinner reservation is a must! The hallways and rooms, are old fashioned but not in a trendy type way. We were a little disappointed because down stairs and the outside is so gorgeous and done-up, the room design feels like an after thought. Over all, we loved it! We were able to watch a lightening storm across the lake at night from our room. I can't wait to go back for a long weekend!

Better than expected! Its a historic lodge and there is only so much you could do with these buildings right? Well I had a comfortable stay at the Crater Lake Lodge. There was zero line at check-in and the receptionist was so friendly and helpful. I had a 3rd floor valley view room, so my expectation was low there too since I could not see the lake. But to my suprise it wasn't a parking lot view, it really did look down the valley and you could see to Klamath Lake, it was quite remarkable. The bed was comfortable. Wifi worked for me, acceptable speeds for some browsing and emails. The wallpaper was peeling in one place but I ignored it. One problem is that I could not get the heat to turn on and it was very chilly in the morning. I didn't ask for help though and I suppose I could have. Overall it was good to stay here.

When I read the reviews of Crater Lake Lodge, I couldn't believe the mix of good, and not so good reviews. But many of the National Park lodges have mixed reviews. ||Growing up in Oregon, I had all my childhood memories of driving a long day to visit Crater Lake. We would see the beautiful lodge, and then return to our camping spot.|We would return home dusty and tired. || Through time, I grew up, and we made multiple trips to Crater Lake. Each time returning home by late evening, or to our campgound. There was the same timeless deep sapphire blue lake, and the majestic Lodge perched on the crater rim.||But now, we value comfort and leisure. We decided to go for it, and booked a night at the lodge. Oh, am I so glad that we did! The special memories will never leave me.||The front doors enter the lobby with a warm fire sitting before big easy chairs. The large log timbers support a beautiful wooden ceiling. Check in was fast and easy.||We were given room 201, a corner room overlooking a view of the lake from three windows in the room, and one in the bathroom. In fact, the loo in the bathroom has it's own prime view of the lake! The room was bright and clean, and warm. It had two large queen bed. Two big comfy chairs and a dresser were by the windows.||We were fortunate to have gorgeous weather while we were there. Beautiful clear sunshine, and no wind. The stunning views were like a picture postcard.||The full length of the back of the lodge is a full line of rocking chairs, and tables. We sat with a hot cup of coffee and rocked back and forth while watching the deep deep blue depths of the crystal clear lake. We chatted with other people from all over the United States. ||We ate dinner at the lovely grand dining room. The food was delicious, and very generous in size! Outside the window, the moon was full and bright. ||Our room was very quiet. Hardly a sound from anything. ||They just don't make lodges like this anymore. The history, and the charm just cannot be duplicated. the location is breathtaking! If you have a chance to stay at Crater Lake Lodge, do it. This grand old Lady is a stunning example of the National Park Lodges. Take it from me, no matter how many times you have been here. Nothing beats being in Crater Lake and staying at the lodge!

We went on a Saturday in mid September and waited around 15 minutes for a table at 1 PM. There was ice water in the waiting area. Service was pretty good. We both really enjoyed our salads and commented how they had a lot of extra good stuff like fruit and cheese and nuts. We got our salad dressings on the side, and decided to swap our dressings. My daughter had chicken on her salad, and I had salmon on mine. The vibe of the place is pretty much like a ski lodge. We were seated next to a fireplace, but it wasn't turned on when we were there.

First and foremost, service by Nathalie was 5+ stars. She made the evening enjoyable and the upfront hostess did a fantastic job. We really liked the lodge ambience with the log trims. Food was mixed The shrimp cocktail had five fairly large shrimp, but they did not taste great and a bit mushy/overcooked. Possibly frozen. I would not order it again. The Toscana potato stew soup of the day sounded good, but it was mediocre. I would not order that again either. The lamb special ($45) was exceptional. Very fresh and probably the tenderest lamb we have tasted. Highly recommend it! The duck at $50, was OK, but it was definitely overcooked and well done. Certainly not worth the price. For dessert, we had the special mixed berry cobbler with ice cream. Very good and definitely don't miss it.

Got seated pretty close to closing. I understand walk ins are stressful and the host was lovely. But sadly that's where the good ends. The place had a warm feeling except the tables if your two top being able to knock themselves over easier than a toddler going to cleetwood cove. We ordered four things total here. The salmon satay, pork chop, rib eye, and creme brûlée. The only thing that was good was the salmon satay. The salmon satay was three small pieces of salmon and a little salad. Both sauces were actually nice and I probably could've eaten four of them and enjoyed my meal more at a cheaper price. The pork chop was said to have a spiced apple chutney which was the main reason I ordered it. It was delivered and it was already lukewarm. When I tried cutting into the meat it was quite literally so tough. Dryer than anything I had eaten my entire trip. The spiced apple "chutney" was barely even a sauce and more or just a pile of soft apples on top of the meat. The potatoes weren't warm and still had the peels and end chunks of the potato in it??? Which I understand is a style but over half the bulk of my potato was the skin. The green beans were lightly covered in garlic and that's about it. Genuinely why am I paying 38$ for a dry pork chop with not even apple sauce on top. The steak was 52$ dollars. The only thing nice here was the actually cooked it to preferred temp. But besides that it had NO taste. Not even a dash of salt to enhance flavor. It tasted off and the potatoes again had the same problem as the pork chop. The vegetables weren't even seasoned either. Which again why am I paying 52$ for a weird tasting steak. Lastly the creme brûlée . It was delivered promptly to us and had a nice vanilla flavor. BUT its temperature was so off and the "nice crispy top" had no crisp. It was a half melted mess where half the sugar was burnt and the rest was just granules. 12$ for something I again could do better at home for cheaper. Our server was nice but awkward which is ok I get it. Tom if you see this, this isn't your fault your kitchen just sucks. I understand we came in at the later part of the night but that's no excuse to give us food that don't meet any sort of standard. There was no room to send food back anyway because I barely saw a person to let them know about the pork chop. Wouldn't go here again unless I'm just ordering the salmon satay. Spend your money more wisely then I did wasting 134$ on a meal that didn't make me happy.

As expected, everything is overpriced and middle-ing. We forgot to pack our lunch and this being the closest place to eat, we settled for Crater Lake Lodge Dining Room. We ordered a burger to share and a salad--again, nothing that was spectacular or worth noting. The staff were really kind and accommodating as I had my 20-month old daughter with me. They were really sweet to heat up some milk for her. The ambiance is nice and family-friendly. I honestly wouldn't choose this place for lunch, but maybe just a place to have a quick bite to eat or something to drink. I saw that some other people ordered charcuterie which looked nice--a bit overpriced in my opinion--but so is everything else, so... *shrug*

Lunch is first come first served. Stopped by after hiking to the peak. Got a burger which was decently cooked. The salad was kinda sad though and just had a few pieces of veggies and very tiny. My friend also got fries and a burger. The fries were good. Service was ok. Had to keep asking for refills for water. Convenient option to eat at while in the park but the food is just ok.

We stopped by for a quick lunch and were lucky enough to get there a few minutes before they opened so we got sat relatively quickly. There's not many food options in the park, so I imagine this place can get busy. Location is nice - it's got the old wood cabin vibe with a great view of Crater Lake. If you can get a window seat, bonus points. Food is overpriced and completely hit or miss. Their French onion soup was the WORST I have ever had - completely bland/absolutely no flavor. Only redeeming quality was the small piece of cheese on top. Also super surprised by how small the serving was. The Smoked Salmom & Everything Bagel Dip was pretty good and a solid choice to share at the table. It was super cold and rainy when we visited, so they also had a rum hot chocolate that was pretty tasty. Granted you're in a national park, so it's always a plus to find somewhere to grab a bite. That being said, a decent stop for some food - just be prepared for higher prices with potentially poor food.

Quite decent food and better than expected at a national park lodge dining room. Since there are not many options available inside the Crater Lake national park, we couldn't get the table for dinner the day we reached. They had a long waiting. So next day we went in early for lunch and were seated immediately. I was glad to find some vegetarian options! We ordered gazpacho, hummus wrap and veggie flat bread. Gazpacho was amazing to beat the heat - cold, tangy and relish! Veggie flat bread was surprisingly good with some honey drizzled on top it - not overpowering. Hummus wrap was pretty average, nothing great. To end with I had ordered the vanilla cold brew and omg it was pathetic!!!! So watered down and bad artificial vanilla taste.

Surprisingly good food for a national park! Started with the salmon dip which was warm and comforting after a long hike. For entrees we had the burger, french onion soup, and the veggie flatbread. Bison burger was great, cooked perfect and toppings were fresh. Veggie flatbread was good, had a good amount of fresh tomatoes and cheese was great. French onion soup was also great! Sat by the window with a beauty view of the lake. Service was super fast. They don't take reservations so we waiting until they opened for lunch. I thought everything was reasonably priced for a national park. I've heard that the services are now contracted out through a new concessionier which has improved things a lot.

Pros: good quality food, fresh food, clean, nice waiting staff, takes reservation for dinner which is a huge plus if you know to plan ahead. Cons: pricey; however, it didn't feel like a rip-off Food in national park has always been more costly than food in town so this is to be expected. You are paying for the convenience.

Lovely meal in a stunning setting. I thought the prices were good considering its location, staff really lovely, dated but quite quaint decor. House wine was awful hence the lack of stars & it was expensive!! That said finished a lovely salad & bought another wine, a different one & sat out in the sun to take in the unbelievable views! Lovely experience

The Lodge Dining Room at Crater Lake National Park offers great food but is let down by slow service. While the dishes were excellent, with well-prepared options, the overall dining experience was frustrating. It took 40 minutes to get seated despite there being plenty of open tables, which made little sense. Once seated, the pace didn't improve much--it took quite a while to finish the meal, making the entire experience a long ordeal. If you have time to spare, the food is good, but be prepared for a lengthy visit.

Arriving the dining room we were greeted by the hostess who said it would be a few minutes before we were seated. Upon seating we were greeted by the waitress who looked a little stressed out and was informing my group there was a miscommunication on the soup which wasn't available. Apparently the hostess and waiter/waitresses were not communicating. We put our order in, was received it in a fair amount of time, took one bite into the turkey croissant and it tasted like tunafish. My friend's deep fried fish was so hard you couldn't even cut it with a knife. My french fries were short and stubby. I had not one long french fry in my order. I do not recommend spending your money at this restaurant. Enjoy the view of the beautiful lake, take a walk around and have your lunch or dinner at another establishment.

We enjoyed this dinner as much as the dining at GC. My alaskan salmon was a bit overcooked, but the corn succotash sauce over it was bright and flavorful! We had an amazing table with a view. Margarita was perfect! I don't recommend the bison stew if you have to sleep next to someone who farts all night. Ha! You have been warned! Service friendly and attentive. I was glad I had a reservation. Check often and definitely at 24hrs before.

It's pretty much a given that you will eat here at least once if you are staying at the lodge. We did in June 2025, and again in September for the Ride the Rim event. From the June stay, we remembered a few of the appetizers being quite good, but not so much the dinner entrees. So we stuck with that notion in September and only ordered the Mushroom Bruschetta, the Mussels Meunière, a Peyton Summer Salad, and a French Onion Soup. While the standard warm, soft bread they brought was great as we remembered from June, the crostini bread with the bruschetta and mussels was hard as a rock. We informed our waiter and he apologetically brought more of the table bread but it just wasn't the same with those dishes and not like what we remembered from our June experience. The salad and soup were fine, but not what we were focused on. We did have a Warm Berry Cobbler for dessert that was good. Although disappointed by the hard bread, we had a nice stay overall so it's been forgiven. Hopefully, the vendor will change up the menu a bit during a season and watch quality.

4 stars for ambiance, service and kitchen staff effort. But 1 star for the quality of the food. While the portions were fairly generous and decently seasoned, dinner entrees were disappointing. First night, hubby had the duck legs and I, the salmon. Both were served with a rice pilaf. The duck and salmon were extremely overcooked. The duck, although very tasty, was so hard that it was almost inedible. The rice pilaf served with the entrees needed another 10 minutes of cooking as the rice was hard and barely edible. For the second night dinner, we opted to skip the dinner entrees and just had salads with shrimp and salmon satay appetizers which were decent. Must say that the salads we had for both dinners and lunches were OK. We did enjoy the Impossible Crater Burgers for lunch on our second day. I understand it is very difficult to staff the restaurant as it's opened only 4 months out of the year. Finding good chefs and kitchen staff must be a really challenge.

Since there is almost no option where to eat in this place, the lodge is not a bad option but not for people on a budget. Food is prepared fresh: 3 stars ( not much option), my salmon on first night was a bit dry, steak was decent, pork chops were tasty. Service is superb: 2 out 3 servers are excellent: 4 stars Ambiance: 5 stars, no question, the place is very nostalgic.

Thief. Beware of a waiter named John. He is a thief who alters receipts to increase the tip amount. I recently visited a restaurant where John was assigned to serve my table. I asked for iced water, but he brought plain water without ice. I thought, "Okay, maybe he just forgot." Then, when my child placed their order, John later returned, claiming the dish was unavailable--though it wasn't even what my child had ordered. This was frustrating because I've never experienced a waiter who forgets a customer's order twice. After dinner, I wrote a $2 tip on the receipt, intentionally as a "slap" in response to his poor service. Later, I discovered that I had been charged $8 instead. You guessed it--he had altered the receipt, adding a stroke to change the "2" into an "8" to charge me more. This behavior is not just unethical; it's outright theft. What a shame. I am deeply disappointed in this waiter, John. Be warned: this waiter is a thief. I hope this review serves as his just reward for the $6 he stole. Food: 4 stars Service: 1 star

Updating my review from many years ago because they have a new menu and new concessionaire. I've been uninspired by the dining room in the past, remembering it for wayyy back when, pre Xanterra. I took myself as a reward, for dinner, after a massive day of hiking. Service was swift and friendly. The bartender made me a lovely mocktail (not on the menu; I asked for one and they obliged). The waiter recommended the salmon, and...it was good. The hot honey with the other flavors was a little odd to me, but it certainly wasn't bad. I'd like to go back and try a few other dishes. The gazpacho was flavorful, refreshing, and had a little kick of spice; very nice on a summer day! My total for a drink, soup, and entree was $54. It's not cheap, but you're paying for the experience in a historic lodge and for food that is MUCH better than anything in Union Creek or the other choices in the park. I'm a local and will be bringing my family back for sure; it's too special of a place to ignore, and the food is better now than it was previously.

I called the restaurant in advance to make sure I could eat there as a non-guest, and to ask if I needed a reservation. The woman I spoke to said I didn't need a reservation but might have a short wait. No problem. When I arrived, however, I was told that only people with reservations were being seated for the entire night. I wound up having to eat through the bar menu, which meant more basic fare rather than the elk rib rack I had wanted to order. I had the mussels, which were good, but the French onion soup seemed like it was covered with a slice of Walmart-bought cheese. The bar staff were friendly but completely overloaded, leading to a 15-minute wait in line just to order dessert and close out the bill. If you have to eat here, make sure you make a reservation.

The restaurant overlooks the lake. It's in an old historic lodge. The duck was amazing. The salad greens were great. The salmon was ok. The triple berry cobbler was amazing. Our service was really attentive.

We arrived at opening time and were the third party seated. About 7/8 parties seated after us were served before we stopped a waiter and asked to be served. We still waited 45 min to receive our meal. I feel that we were completely ignored for at least 15 min after being seated.

Food was eh. But the service was phenomenal. I didn't catch our servers name but she was incredibly personable and on top of things.

We were served an appetizer with crostini so hard you could break a tooth. This after waiting 20 minutes. We asked and were told they didn't have any other kind of bread (really?). We waited another 25 minutes and still had not received our dinners even though other people around us that arrived later were served. It was almost as if they were angry about the appetizer and decided not to feed us. We made our reservation well in advance and were the second table seated when they opened at 5:00. At 5:45 we decided we had had enough and walked out. We have never done this before. Of course it took an hour to get to Prospect for pizza and salad. A big come down from the bison meatloaf and spiced elk rack we had ordered. Happy anniversary to us!!

Crater Lake Lodge offers much better views than the fixed price, underwhelming buffet. However, if you set your expectations correctly (like an overpriced ski lodge) - you'll have a better experience than I had going in. It feels more like a business conference or cheap wedding buffet than a $50+ per person dining experience. The food is good enough, but just underwhelms overall given the price point, but it isn't the food you are seeking out - it's the panoramic views of the lake and park the draws people to the lodge. That being said - the atmosphere, servers, and ambiance offer you the best option to have a full meal in the park with AMAZING views. Expectations just need to be set or else you'll likely be disappointed like me and the recent reviewers that just had a "meh" experience overall. As far as the food goes, there's a pretty decent selection. The server will bring you the soup and/or salad before unleashing you on the buffet. Being from Boston, $50 isn't a lot for a restaurant or buffet, but we had meals in the area that were better (IMO) than the lodge for $50 for both my wife and I. That's not why you come to dine here though, it's an experience and to take in all the views that you just can't get at any other dining option in the park. So, would I recommend it? Yes, the views and experiences you get are worth the price of admission. If you are looking for a meal on par for the price paid and don't care about the experience or views, your time and money are better spent elsewhere. We enjoyed the overall experience, but honestly the meal and food was forgettable... the views however were not.

After being out in small towns with few dining options, we decided breakfast at the Crater Lake Lodge was in order while visiting the park. The atmosphere is gorgeous and service friendly and fun. The food was pretty good and pretty expensive but worth it for the view.

The attitudes of the staff here are beyond awful. Victoria, the host of the Restaurant is really an angry person. She yells at customer. She has plenty table open but refuse to sit us. We waited an hour And half and the breakfast did not come. So we had to leave with the tour. Then we cancelled our tour to try to eat again but she won't sit us. She does this on purpose because we complaint to her about the food not coming for an hour and half. When we asked her how come there were so many tables but she doesn't sit us, she yells at us. And she keeps on yelling non stop. One older female staff at front desk is also very rude and yells. The fact that you work for the government doesn't give you the right to treat people nasty. Do not go there. They charge very high price but do not provide the service. The rooms are so small and in very bad condition. The manager need to train these employees or fire them. They are the liabilities and bring you bad reviews.

We had read about the appetizer service in between lunch and dinner where you could sit in the main great room or the patio overlooking Crater Lake. We found the staff was friendly, but they were overworked. We did order wine and food. It was delivered to our chairs Outside. It's a one of a kind of view. The salmon satay was good and served with a small salad. We wanted to order a second menu item, but we were told that the kitchen had closed down until five. So don't have expectations of getting a seat outside and by the way, the dining room was empty when we saw it, but this was after the lunch had ended. We also had a couple of families with plenty of kids that were hungry and just missed the lunch service but they decided to get adult drinks and let their kids make a lot of noise in this area. Otherwise would've been a very delightful adult experience with a glass of wine. It was mostly due to parental supervision so maybe you'll have better luck with that.

You don't have a lot of choices in the national park, so that being said the place is okay. We shared the fish and chips and the fish seemed like it was brought in already battered (and frozen). It didn't taste bad, but it wasn't memorable. The desserts were quite good. Service was decent- no mistakes but also nothing extra special. The view of the lake is definitely the reason to dine here.

During COVID-19, the dining room at the lodge is open to guests staying at the lodge only. Don't think you can sneak your way in. They give you wristbands at check in to keep tabs! They're offering a "touchless" buffet for breakfast and dinner. Rezzies are needed for dinner (you can make them when you check in), but breakfast is first come, first served. We enjoyed their breakfast on the patio overlooking the lake. It was the standard fare: potatoes, sausage, frittata, bacon, assortment of baked goods, etc. My boo tried his best to gorge on the smoked salmon and bagels, but only managed to get two small servings in before calling it quits. They do let you take food "to go" if you ask for it! Really good service. If you don't have a meal there, at least hang out in the patio for a drink or two. You can't beat the primo view with a nice cocktail in hand! Beware of the bugs in the evening. I was told they don't bite, but the welts on my body say otherwise. Thankfully, they weren't out to feast on me when I was there for breakfast too.

Very basic food but one of 3 places to eat unless you pack your own. Prices are insane for mediocre food but you're paying for the view and experience. Staff are nice

I get it this place is old..we paid $500 for 2 nights and it was August. The room was 90 degrees. We felt like the heat was on all night. I asked the attendant the next morning and they said the heat may have been left on. It was controlled by the computer. We had the windows open and a fan on and we were roasting. It was only about 70 degrees out. Food at the lodge takes an hour for breakfast and there was only about 4 tables. I wouldn't stay there again but will visit again for sure. The park should make arrangements for RV's at the lodge area. We paid to stay in the lodge but had to park a long ways away. Not convenient at all.

Stayed 2 nights in the lodge and ate dinner in the restaurant both nights. The second night server was bad. She didn't bring out my order and when I asked about it she rudely snapped at me saying "you DIDN'T order that, but I'll go back and you get you one". She seemed to address my husband only anytime she stopped by. When she brought the check she gave it to my husband, although I was the one that was going to pay. She took the credit card to scan and brought it back and once again tried to give it to my husband. We thought she was acting strangely, like deliberately ignoring me and trying to be over-attentive to my husband. Not sure if she was flirting with him, neither he nor I would know that, if she did. Food is ok to poor, nothing great, overpriced as expected, which is nothing shocking. We liked the marionberry cheesecake. Food choices were quite limited and uncomplicated, nothing hard to cook right but I imagine their cooks are not at all skilled. The steak was burnt, not just grilled, with black bitter charred sections that were completely inedible. We are a family of four with two teenage kids and we are a mixed-race family. After the trip, some of our friends commented that that part of Oregon may be a little insular and people can be racist, and that may explain the server's behavior. I understand that is conjecture. There can be other reasons for her bad behavior.

*Last week my daughter and I enjoyed dinner at Crater Lake Lodge. We sat at a table with a view of the lake and had a wonderful time. I love the old lodges in the National Parks, their beauty and their history. The food was very good, but the highlight for us was our charming waiter, Buster (Dean). He was very attentive, engaging, and interesting. It was obvious that he enjoyed interacting with his customers. Buster provided exceptional service, in spite of the busyness of the dining room. He also makes a delicious hot chocolate! Buster is a fine young gentleman who stands out among his peers for his graciousness. His kindness and diligence were much appreciated.

This dining room is the nicest dining option in the park. They were short staffed so they could only operate about half of the tables in the dining room, and we waited about 30 minutes to be seated for lunch. The wait was definitely worth it. We both had their Rogue Burger which was great. The bison was moist and cooked just right. It was very flavorful with lettuce and tomato on a good bun. We also had their Bourbon Banana Bread Pudding was large enough to split between 2 people and rich enough you definitely wanted to split it. You are eating lunch in an historic building with a massive log structure. The pricing was as expected for a National Park at about $20 per person. We would try other options when we return to the park.

This is the worst run dining room I have ever visited. We had been advised in an email from the "front desk" not to make dinner reservations ahead of time, that all hotel guest would be accommodated, and that the dinner reservations would be booked upon our arrival. Upon our arrival the front desk person told us that the dining room was fully booked and we would not be accommodated. I showed her the email which she ignored and said there was nothing she could do. Keep in mind there is no other restaurant up there to have dinner. She said to take my case to the dining room where person after person insisted we would not be accommodated. They finally relented and let us make reservations which when we showed up for they wouldn't honor. We were forced to wait for an additional hour yet the dining room was half empty. The host was an inexperienced and very rude young man who threatened to call security on me when I pressed him to honor our reservation. My advice is to try to find another way to see Crater Lake without staying at the lodge. We couldn't have been more disappointed.

We stayed at Crater Lake Lodge after camping at Mazama Village for 2 nights. Right now the restaurant is only open to hotel guests and you need to make reservations. They also make use of their lounge area by having seating with their loungers and coffee tables. We chose our seating here versus in the dining room because it made it for a more intimate atmosphere. The hostess offered us a window seat which had lake views, however with all of the wild fires there wasn't much of a view unfortunately. Our waitress Lauren was GREAT! She would constantly check on us, was kind, and cordial. The serving staff is also great! It is a buffet so you stand in line, however staff can show you the food and will then give you your plate at the end. Now for the food - it's $47 per person. Is this on the higher end? Yes. I feel like my boyfriend and I were able to get our monies worth because we engorged ourselves on three plates of prime rib. However if you don't like red meat and/or have dietary needs, it would be very difficult justifying the $47. They had two types of salad, minestrone soup, mashed potatoes, broccoli, panko crusted cod (that was moist and not dry!), a vegetarian eggplant dish, chicken parm, mac and cheese, and chicken tenders. Dessert is also included with the meal so we ordered the marionberry cobbler. Was this the best food ever? No, but is flavorful and definitely felt worth it after doing many miles of hiking!

Stayed at the Lodge Friday and Saturday night. We were able to get reservations each night. Friday night we sampled the soup of the day (an amazing trout dish), the chicken and a flatbread. They were all outstanding. For breakfast we tried the standard 2 eggs, meat and potatoes. The eggs were cooked perfectly (over medium) and the potatoes were crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. Saturday night we tried the trout dish (based on how great the soup was the day before) and we had the New York Steak. Both dishes were again excellent. My steak was cooked perfectly. The trout dish was also perfectly cooked. I was very impressed with the quality. Not only was the food great, but there are also amazing views of crater lake from the balcony that runs just outside the dining room. The only thing I would say that wasn't up to my expectations, was the deck is open to the general public (not just the dinners) and it can get a little crowded with limited seating facing the lake.

Had a great dinner last night. Too Smokey to see the lodge but the food was very good. My husband had the steak which he said was very good...medium was a touch too done but he still enjoyed it. Served with mashed potatoes and baby Brussel sprouts. I had the naan bread for appetizer was absolutely yummy...honey and basalmic sprinkled on top . Also had the Caesar salad which was very good also. Our waitress was so sweet, attentive and nice. Thank Yoj

We came to the lodge dining room to sit on the veranda and have cocktail and enjoy the magnificent view. Some of the chair seats are in disrepair. Be careful where you sit. My specialty martini came but the small martini glass was half empty. I sent it back and it was returned to me filled. The bartender just poured more vodka on it; so the blend was all off-kilter and the drink, though expensive, was not well balanced. It was a waste of good chambord. The restrooms are conveniently located but not well-serviced. The lady's room had no paper towels or hand-dryers. We repeatedly tried the given password but could not get on wifi.

2 1/2 stars, Plus an extra 1/2 Storm for the beautiful building and the view. I was at the park at lunchtime, and I thought I'd treat myself to lunch at the dining room. Service was good. I had the fish and chips. The fish was pretty good, but the fries, which they called steak fries, were pretty thin, and were only warm. That and an ice tea, and I was out $28 after tip for a "just OK" lunch. The dining room may be good for dinner for a special occasion, but for lunch, just go and fight the crowds at the rim village cafeteria. You'll be much happier.

As is often the case, when there's only one dining place in town there's little incentive to offer customers a stellar experience. This rings true for the Crater Lake Lodge Dining Room. When we showed up for an early lunch, the restaurant was less than half full. We were told we'd have a 20 min wait and decided to stick around. 35 minutes later, we were seated. All of our dishes were subpar. The smoked salmon nicoise salad came with super salty salmon, the saltiest capers I've ever had, and salty dressing. In the grilled pimento cheese sandwich, we found a melted plastic bread tag. How it got there is beyond us. The chicken/cheddar/apple sandwich sounded like it would be really good. It wasn't. We left hungry and dissatisfied.

The days of enjoying a great dinner at one of Americas most fantastic National Parks are something of the past. A canned buffet with a menu that alternates every other day, way over priced as it is nothing special. The food is just ok which was shrimp linguinne, ratatoule, broccolini, chicken capri and prime rib is something served at Golden Coral. For $52 why not offer a a menu too choose from. The park service should require their vendors to offer the special experince rather than a buffet .

Good food, excellent service. The bar allowed us to take plates outside and share homemade appetizers. Beautiful location. Better than expected for lodge dining.

We were warned not to go here because it was pricey, but it actually was not that bad considering the portions were huge. We got two appetizers and one main meal, and we had leftovers!! That plus a glass of wine and tip was only around $80. That is really not bad at all for an upscale restaurant. The soup of the day was cream of mushroom and it was divine! The pimento cheese board was also lovely. For a main course we shared the lamb marsala, which was flavorful and so tender. I am not a huge fan of lamb other than chops, but this was outstanding. The only reason I deducted a star was because they could have had a few more selections, but other than that I would tell people not to be afraid of first look you have at the prices. Swallow your sticker shock.

At the end of our recent Ashland Trip, Gayle and I took an extra day, drove over to Crater Lake and stayed overnight at the Crater Lake Lodge. Our Hotel experience can be found under the separate Crater Lake Lodge listing. Our Dining Room experience included "Bar Menu" snacks while we hung out in the Main Lounge (or on the Deck that features a stunning Lake view) and Dinner in the Main Dining Room. Here are a few observations and/or tips: - If giving a choice between ordering off the Bar Menu or "dining" at the Cafeteria over at the nearby Gift Shop, eat here. Both places are not cheap, but between better food and the pleasant fire- or lakeside ambiance, the Lodge is a much better value for the money. - Eating off the Bar Menu in the Lounge can be a better value than taking your meal in the Dining Room. Then if you're lucky enough to snag one of the inside tables near the window or in front of the fire place, Lodge life doesn't get much better than this. - Regardless of where we took our meal, beer and wine prices were surprisingly reasonable, especially considering where we were. - The Dining Room is a little compressed in terms of table density. That made our Dining Room experience a little noisy and perhaps a little less romantic than we would have liked. If you want to spread out a little more and have a better opportunity to chat with interesting people from all over, stay in the Lounge. - We has second thoughts about eating in the Dining Room when we saw the menu prices. What worked well for us was splitting an entree and for $5 extra, the Kitchen added full portions of the vegetables and served it all on separate plates. In other words, we enjoyed more than enough food for almost half the price. Plus there was plenty of warm fresh bread available. Other Reviews have occasionally mentioned some combination of marginal service and just OK food (especially for the price). In our limited experience, we found both the Lobby and Dining Room services to be prompt and friendly, and the food to be very good, but not amazing. However, for a pleasant Date Night in the Lounge and Dining Room and with a direct view of the wonder called Crater Lake, call me a Fan.

Wow, bad! Ok let's start with the good stuff, though. Amazing view. Be sure to get a window table. Beautiful building. Bus boy very good--kept those waters full! Service overall was fine; nothing amazing but no complaints. I'll reserve my complaints for the food. Caesar salad with chicken was about equivalent to an airport grab-n-go boxed salad. Risotto was flat and uninspired. Kids had hamburger and grilled cheese off the kids menu (their usuals), and both were far subpar compared to anywhere else. The prices were OK, if the food would actually deliver on the ambition of the menu. I think it's worthwhile to come here just for the view. But be sure to eat first!

We ate at the Crater Lake Lodge Dining Room for dinner and breakfast and should have listened to the reviews. ‍ The best part about this dining room is a) convenience and b) the view of Crater Lake. The food was edible, but not good (lacking flavor, food came out cold, fruit that looked sketchy) and absolutely not worth the money (a subpar breakfast scramble with potatoes was $23). If you have to eat here, grin and bear it, but better yet, go somewhere else. You can thank me later. To end on a good note, the service was great and the staff friendly and attentive.
