We came to the Crave & Copper after walking through the park and their little flea market set up.
It probably would have been busier if the market wasn't going on at the time.
Little place down the street close to City Hall.
Our service was really good and the atmosphere was decent. Another Kraft beer place that tries to do everything from scratch for their kitchen.
I think they kind of MISSED the mark today with their food. We had the chorizo queso fundido and the homemade tortillas that are deep fried were very dark and incredibly thick. Hard, shattering after a bite. Some were hard and chewy like rubber.
(My opinion is that they need to roll the dough out more but these were definitely more than 1/8 of an inch thick)
My daughter chose not to even use the chips because they were such a bad experience. Said she couldn't even chew.
(The picture of chips make them seem lighter, but they were nearly the same color as the chicken in another photo)
*** Maybe the oil needs to be changed. Many restaurants have dedicated fryers for potatoes versus other items. I imagine this would fall in the other item category because when I ordered my chicken sandwich, The breading on that actually tasted BURNT.
It was a deep deep Brown. Not the flavor or the coating that one should be shooting for.

My entire experience I could watch the head Chef/mgr watch the Cook work his butt off.... While the chef "Doom-scrolled"(trying to find the Internet? Lol) on his phone.
It is about optics if you are going to have a large window to view the kitchen.
In regards to the sandwiches we ordered, The brine chicken, fried sandwich and the cheesesteak sandwich...
Both of them. The meats had great flavor. I already spoke about the coating on the chicken sandwich tasting burnt. The burned flavor overwhelmed the taste of the chicken.
For the cheesesteak sandwich, there wasn't much flavor outside of the meat and cheese which is the primary star. However, the other items in the sandwich were covered and coated not allowing the flavor to come through. It gave it a nice crunch but that was all. It's important not to coat your flavor stars in oils. It's best to saute separate and add at the end, mixing as little as possible.
OVERALL--
It's an interesting place. Decent atmosphere. Cute paintings on the walls and the secondary room which makes the restaurant larger than what appears to be on the outside.
Their signage needs to be more and better for the exterior. We could have walked past it and never knew it was there.
Food quality was low when we went. And that's why gave it a lower rating overall because that's what it's all about when it boils down to it.
The chef was there. He should be able to see the color of the items coming out of that fry oil tasting all day long. For a place that specifically states that they make everything from scratch, there needs to be more quality control than what we received today.
I drive 45 minutes to try Crave&Copper. It has potential to be outstanding.... Just not in the day we came. If you are local or passing through,... I still would recommend you to stop in.
Support this local restaurant.
Give it a try.
Hopefully your experience is on the higher end than what we received. Again, has potential !
