Crazy Fish

This restaurant is great if you like take out sushi. They used to have a sit down restaurant years ago but has relocated to a pick up only. Sushi rolls are large and justifies the price. It's very tasty and quality is up there. I like how consistent they are. I never had one bad order come from them. You can tell if you're getting questionable fish by the smell of the restaurant and this place never smells bad. I.e. fish that's close to spoiling has this distinct smell. The only downside is that the folks running the place are a bit older so on a busy Friday/Saturday night the order can take a half hour or more. Their website needs a refresh but I uploaded some photos of their menu.

The rolls are generous and there is no sacrifice in quality. Ingredients are fresh and portions are hearty. The baked rolls are well done and actually baked but the sauce on the baked yellowtail was on the sweet side. It's great to see a family business continue to thrive.

First of all, we wanted to eat in, but when we got there, there was only a bench at the front. the owner of pulled out a table and chairs for us. Awesome service. The food at crazy fish is always delicious, we had scallops, salmon, tuna and crab rolls, we also had combination tempura as an appetizer. Very satisfying. Will definitely be back.

We are regular there, we got sushi and ate outside. When we done we asked her to use her Trish to dispose the plastic containers, she asked for money for the recycling 😱

I was completely taken aback by the restaurant's refusal to provide adequate service, especially when I expressed my concerns to the manager. I explicitly informed them that my kids have allergies and requested that they keep salmon separate from the rest of the sushi, but my request was ignored. As a customer, I am deeply disappointed and shocked by the lack of consideration and professionalism displayed by this establishment.

Let's be real we all love CF and their sushi quality is pretty dam near good. Hence to say I've been coming here since high school in the early 90's when they were at their sit down location . I've always ordered their spicy tuna minced salad to go but after tonight I'll reconsider returning or ordering again . I don't mind paying $26 for a salad like I have been for several years , but don't size down on the portion &container and not drop your prices and inform customers on downsizing portions . ( after all it's just iceberg lettuce , maybe 5 slices of cucumber and minced tuna ). When I mentioned it to the owner tonight she seemed non - chalant and denied the fact their containers have changed to a MUCH SMALLER PORTION. Lack of loyalty / and lying will cause you to lose long time business and that's just not cool !

Great food for the price. Quick and easy. Great for pick up. The Kinta roll is a staple item!!

I don't care what you say about this place but this for me is nostalgia! It used to be the most difficult place to get into in the late 90's and early 2000's. You couldn't get a seat to save your life back then because the sushi here is just like going back in time. It's delicious, tasty, and just like the perfect mom and pop sushi spot. There really is no service here anymore cause it's over the counter to-go now. They moved from their previous location. No ambiance either just come here and get your sushi! Don't be an obnoxious "foodie!" Just enjoy

We have been going to Crazy Fish for a long time. We had a lot of birthday celebrations in their restaurant before but now pick up our favorites to go. They never disappoint. Quality is always good.

The haters need to shush. This place is SOLID AND CONSISTENT. A true gem that deserves all the praise they can get. Been coming here for over 20 years. The good ol' daze when you could dine in and have that insane tempura ice cream for dessert, fresh out the fryer. Best I've ever had, to this day. Haden't been back for a couple years. They close a bit early so the timing had to align, but damn! I regret not making this happen sooner. They've now moved across the street in a plaza with lots of parking. Easy to be in and out. Much better situation than their original location. That parking lot was a shithole. Spicy Albacore Salad Roll is massive and one of thee best things I've ever eaten. First time trying this but definitely up there in my top sushi items ever eaten. Ridiculously satisfying and you don't find anything like it --anywhere! So original and so amazing. SO worth the $19 for flavor, quality, quantity. It's pretty much a 10-12 piece roll that they cut into 8. That ponzu!!! I love albacore salads and this is the heartier option. I'd say all of their rolls were generously portioned and especially for being in Beverly Hills, the price to quantity/ quality is more than fair. Spicy Salmon Tempura Roll is another classic hit. Been dreaming about this one and could never find it on any other menu. There's always some kinda baked salmon roll but never tempura :( Really makes all the difference. Extremely delectable! Another surprise was their Salmon Skin Roll. So simple but easily the best I've ever had. Perfectly charred smoky flavor, and great balance of ingredients (just the right amount of gobo and cucumber). Had to get a Kinta Roll due to everyone raving about it. Wasn't really my thing. I respect it for its uniqueness but I prefer a classic spicy tuna, which to be fair, their spicy tuna is actually kinda spicy and very yummy. The Kinta was super crispy, and stays that way since we're not ones to douse it in their kinta sauce (although it is pretty tasty). Great for those who like crunch and loads of sweet sauce. Lastly, the owner has always been kind and gracious. Not sure what others have experienced but if you're polite and respectful, she will most likely be the same. She got my order down accurately, and it was packaged perfectly. I like that all the sauces were on the side. Super generous amount of ginger and wasabi, and the right amount of soy sauce packets. All complimentary. So, not sure why people are talking about being charged extra :/ I got 2 sides of spicy mayo not knowing how big they'd be. They're like freakin 4 ounces each. Pretty good for a buck. I like that they mix in their special chili oil. Really great spicy mayo, and now I have some saved for later :P I love this place and am grateful they're still going strong. CRAZY SEXY COOL!

Well quick notes people, this new Crazy Fish is strictly TO GO only. It's been in the last 5 or so years. There are old pictures from the OLD restaurant, and it's no more. Again, food is still as solid as ever. Still driving over to BH from SG valley to eat crazy fish. .

This is family owned and it used to be a very busy restaurant back in the day. Now they've resorted to being a delivery only and to-go only front. We ordered two orders of sushi to go and they placed it in one big carton. When we asked for another carton and to separate the two orders they put up a fuss and gave us a small container so we could divide the sushi ourselves arguing and very upset about why we didn't tell them when the order was placed. Wow such attitude and so rude!! Well why didn't you ask?! Two orders are two orders. Hence separate containers unless we tell you to put it in one! The elderly cashier lady was yelling at me like it was my fault. The to-go order we were told would take 20 minutes to be ready but took over 40 minutes. No need to lie about the time. We used to come for inexpensive great sushi but now the prices are double and not worth the rude attitude. I'm not coming back. I don't go to places that are negative anymore. The world has enough of this let a alone a sushi place.

Our family's favorite sushi spot. We used to love dining in at the old location. The family who run it are so sweet. Everything is fresh and delicious. Our favorites are the salmon/avocado roll, kinta roll, veggie roll, miso soup, and salmon-skin salad. We love Crazy Fish!

Best of sushi spot, one of the ogs in the game, the service might not be the best sometimes, but the owner is a sweat heart and price is well worth it the quality. Best spicy mayo in the game

Crazy Fish is a small sushi shop offering takeout only orders located on Olympic Bl and Oakhurst. Crazy fish originally was located across the street on Olympic Bl and Doheny and had been there successfully for years. Now they are located in this mini plaza with convenient parking out front if you're lucky to snag a spot. I've always wanted to try the sushi here because clients and friends rave about the sushi roll creations. The website menu had so many choices from basic to fancier signature rolls. Some of my virtual Yelp friends posted reviews ranging from 3-5 stars. It was my first time ordering and trying these sushi rolls so, I ordered a couple of the basics and a few of the signature rolls. The shop was clean, the staff wore face masks and gloves, all were japanese. The lady who took my order Yumiko was cordial and nice. I told her it was my first time in this shop. I was lucky to park right in front facing her shop. My convertible Ferrari with a fluffy white, pink nose Fendi watching us. Yumiko was facinated by Fendi and stepped out to greet her. Then while inside I took pictures of the shop and complimented her on the lovely white Orchid. The mature woman who took my phone order and is the cashier, Yumiko was sharp but cordial and nice. Yumiko and 2 male staff are mature, old school japanese and were kind to me, she killed me with kindness and I surrendered. :) The fact that this small sushi shop is open during the COVID pandemic have to deal with sometimes rude customers is just amazing. Had I known these lovely people were here, I would have been a frequent customer much sooner. Ordered an avocado roll and a real Dungeness crab roll, were good. Ordered some of the signature rolls: KINTA, tempura California, Crispy rice spicy tuna, and these were CRAZY good and I would that again soon. In itself was filling. All the rolls were rather larger than usual. One slice of these rolls is equivalent to 3 from Sugarfish, which is smaller and pricier $$$ I frequent Sugarfish because is less than half a black from where I live, very convenient. However, in the spirit of supporting small and local businesses, Crazy Fish gets my support and recommendation.

We love Joyce the owner. This sushi place is an old LA institution and has wonderful sushi. You should try the kinta roll, the snow cone cut roll, the spicy salad dressing and more! We'll always come back.

I was greeted as soon as I walked in by the owner, she asked how many chopsticks and sauces I needed, said thank you and wished me a happy holidays..food was good, not as amazing as it used to be in the late 90s/early 2000s but still worth it as an easy take out option around the neighborhood.

We stepped in, picking up Domino's Pizza from the next-door store. First time. The lady (owner) could not care less. No attempt to introduce, suggest, offer; nothing. How about: Please take away our menu, or Come back again, we will be happy to see you. Nothing. When we asked for chopsticks, we received a lecture "how else does one eat," but she only added one set. Apparently - for sharing! Maybe we should gift them some. Seemingly business is so good, that no customer is important. What a pity. Invest in your customers and their experiences. They leave with a picture, like those you have hanging on the wall from various wonders of the world. Do you not want your customers to cherish the experience and take it with them? First - and definitely last - time. A failed experiment.

One of our favorite Sushi spots for 10 yrs, they have now moved across the street from their O.G. locale and pretty much only do take out now. They are still turning out crafted yumminess in the roll sushi and sashimi form so now we just take it home for bedroom picnic. BRJlll

This place is ideal for those of you who want pretty good take away sushi. There are no seats and it is for take away only but the prices are fantastic for the area and it's all Japanese run. (Chefs as well). They also have ramune for those looking for that. My kids love it. They also have a freezer with mochi as well, and a few other Japanese items. The line can get long, so order ahead. Support small business! Be patient, the lil lady who takes orders has a heavy accent but she is so efficient and sweet. Constantly taking in person orders and answering the non stop ringing phone orders. So if she cannot answer immediately, wait a minute or two and call back. Apparently, business is good! I sure hope so. I feel like they have more tuna than salmon but I could be wrong. I prefer tuna, so it works fine for me. The Kinta roll is enormous, like maybe 2-3 bites per piece and I don't typically like that but it is so good that I quickly got over that. The seaweed has tempura on it! I also like the Fiesta roll because I need jalapeños in any food I can have it in. The Jewish roll is good if you like cream cheese and salmon (hence the name) but I don't like either much but it definitely was better than other cream cheese rolls I've had before, just not my jam. I have had a couple other ones but cannot remember. Try it here, hopefully you'll enjoy it too... just please know that if I want to order, let me order first.

Crazy Fish is excellent! We havent been back in 20+ years and we just heard they were back in business for take out. Yumiko (the owner) was so lovely and our order came out perfect. Plenty of ginger and wasabi, lots of soy sauce packets and OMG the fish was delicious. We loved it and highly recommend!!

11 years after my last review of this establishment, Crazy Fish is now just a take-out place (ok, they have 2 tiny tables inside that will fit 8 people in total). As a take-out joint, it can't be rated as a normal restaurant, and can't be compared to the Nobu's of the world. I therefore rate it on the taste and quality of their most popular rolls, which is worth driving halfway across town for. Crazy Fish was such a go-to spot for me back in the day, despite mediocre service. That lack of warm-fuzzy service remains today, although the wife/owner/hostess will squeeze out a smile if you're nice first. She smiles for me, and that's all that matters. And that Kinta roll..... oh that Kinta roll. Still their top selling roll, that nobody can mimic the same way. Their second too-selling roll is the spicy tuna on crispy rice, which is a bit heavy on the mayo topping, but if you're looking for cheap eats with creative liberties, I still consider it a favorite place for something different.

It should be called Crazy Owner! I asked her for extra soy sauce she told me, "my sushi doesn't need soy sauce and too much sodium for you" !! Since then, I have been bringing my own soy sauce. Sometimes the rolls look like they have been punched instead of rolled. Probably bc the owner punched it. Oh, when ordering, be sure to ask for Wasabi! They won't put it UNLESS you ask. Now you are wondering why I am giving them four stars? Because this is Comfort Food Sushi! The owner is a actually genuine and part of the community. The Kinta roll is good. They put lots of fish in each portion though sometimes the rice is too much. It is a taste we grew up with coming here after school when in high school. I like the fact she keeps the eel sauce "kosher" and even uses different fryers for those of us keeping Persian-style kosher. Speaking about it so much makes me want to get some sushi now.

Amazing food! It's been around for as long as I can remember, and I haven't had any sushi better than the sushi at this place.

I've been coming here for as long as I can remember. On a scale of 1-10 this place is a 6.5 honestly it's not horrible but it's not amazing. It gets the job done. The new location is takeout only with 3 tables to sit at. Located in a shopping center there's plenty of parking. When I'm craving fried sushi rolls this is the place I come to. I love the spicy tuna crispy rice, spicy salmon tempura, Alaskan roll, kinta roll, albacore roll, and spicy tuna salad.

This has been a staple in our family "go to" spots for over 20 years. They moved across the street and that changed our overall experience as we have been going there since the 90's! I recently went back and loved seeing the owners, but loved the food even more. Spicy salmon tempura and Kinta roll were delicious per usual. Perfect for Friday night in repertoire

This was a weird little place. But I was passing by and starving so I tried it out. I gotta say, maybe it's because I was starving, but the sushi was delicious! On the other hand, there was a guy, maybe one of the owners, sleeping on a folding patio lounge in the foyer when I arrived. He got up and they unlocked the front door. I started to sit on a chair while I waited to order, but he rushed to grab it just before I sat down, almost causing me to fall. Didn't say "excuse me" or anything. My order came out fast. And I practically inhaled it, I was so hungry. Was it really that good? Or was I just starved? Don't know, but I'll certainly try it again if I I'm in the area and want takeout. I'd go in to order though. I understand they don't answer their phone.

After years of declining quality, terrible service, and putting up with the shocking rudeness of the owner, Crazy Fish has made some changes. They moved across the street They are now take-out only They raised their prices pretty significantly They changed their hours They are now closed on Friday's!!!! I repeat...they decided to close their business on Friday's. What a horrible business decision. Can't comment on if the quality of the food has improved since the move...because today is a Friday.

Overheard tons of bad commends from my high school old time sushi place. Couple months ago; During quarantine I went back for a curb side pick up for some crazy fish rolls, tempura and some other old times favourite. I will still vote them for quality sushi in Beverly Hills area!

I swear this place really tries hard to make go give them a bad review. I haven't been here in a long time so I thought why not. I call them and after 4 times I get through to the lady everyone hates. After answering the phone she says please hold and put the phone down and leaves it there for 10 minutes. I hang up and call another ten times before I get through to her. She does the same thing, comes back to the phone after a couple of minutes. At this point I admit it's my fault for continuing to even order. Nothing has obviously changed about this place and the lady is still a horrible person, who doesn't care about anything other then herself. I was dedicated though so I kept moving forward. I gave my order in and she said it would be ready in 20 minutes. It's now been an hour. This is completely my fault for getting fooled again. I also know this is a tough time for small business's like this, but if this place was to close down I would not give a f***! If you ever feel like you're patients need to be tested I highly recommend you come here!

Been coming here at this and the old location since they opened, they have great rolls you can't get anywhere else! I don't even live in LA anymore but it's on my list to visit every time I visit.

I was introduced to Crazy Fish 18 years ago when it was the hottest sushi place! Wait times and lines that were in insane but well worth it. Since I've moved farther away I haven't been for years, but we thought we would give it a try since we haven't been for so long. Quality and portions exactly the same & 100% delicious. I didn't know they moved and are in a small plaza around their old location so I was a little thrown off, but I love the concept of how it's a take out sushi place only now. One of the few sushi places that tastes just as good when eaten at home. I took off one star because of the hours. Their hours on Yelp are different than what the hours really are & they're closed on random days and they close a little early in my opinion for the evenings. I've attached photos of their current hours and menu outside on their window for reference.

I have been going to Crazy Fish for the past 20 years the food is always solid and plentiful if you are hungry order a bunch of the spicy tuna roll you will not be disappointed

Used to like it. Has definitely gone downhill. Update: 12/25/17: As 2017 comes to a close I decide to update my review. if you're in BH and are about to partake in Japanese, kick it here. Relaxed yet upbeat. One has to wait, but just take in the scene. It's also reasonable. Good for an after shopping spree for holiday gifts.

This place is a hometown staple. The food is delicious I would recommend the salmon tempura roll with a crispy rice. I also recommend the sashimi salad.

Customer service is not good so you must be ready with what you want. My favorite is shrimp tempura special and the killer salmon roll. Also the miso soup. I recently tried the udon beef noodle soup, it was good but the beef was a bit too tough. I will stick with the miso soup next time. I didn't give a four star because Customer Service needs to improve

My favorite sushi spot & I come once a week just for the kinta roll! Staff is good & Joyce is always there lol Miss the old location but the food is just the exact same! Very great food! Must try the spicy mayo! See you soon!

Crazy Fish was my favorite sushi restaurant, today I stopped at the new location for takeout and the food was delicious! The service was quick and I'm happy to support a small business and can't wait to go back. My go to order is: - Shrimp dynamite - Unagi + cucumber roll - Spicy Tuna Salad

Unbelievable How Cheap the Lady Owner is!!! I got two Orders of sushi and she gave me two soy sauce packets and I asked for a few more and she says no that's enough for you. Well thank you lady that's enough for me I'm never coming here again!!!!!! Disgusting how you can make a customer angry while leaving for a pennys worth of soy-sauce

I know Yomiko and Micke for Very long time the kitchen is clean the food is fresh and the prices are competitive my son and I love the sushi there and will continue to go! Our favorite is Kinta Roll

Food is great, but customer service is terrible. When you ask for extra soy sauce, the owner says "you only get one." This is absolutely ridiculous and makes this restaurant have bad service. It's such a shame with a restaurant that has good quality food but can have an owner with such poor customer service. Maybe they can get a new owner to make this place have a good food and good customer service.

Have to be honest: possibly the worst sushi I have ever had. The people who work there are very nice and so it hurts me to write this, but the fish is just not good. Been there twice now and will never return.

The relationship I have with crazy fish is akin to a relationship I would have with an abusive girlfriend. The problem is that I like the abuse. The service is horrible. The owners don't even bother to pick up the phone half the time. They refuse to hire help but the food is comforting. The sushi is high quality. I keep coming back not because I want to, but because my body yearns for it. Just try it so you can understand what Im Talking About.

My wife insisted that we try this place again eventough I got sick from this place 3 weeks ago. I think the place is dirty, rolls are saggy, and has horrible customer service. They still use pen and calculator to get your total. The owner gave me 3 different total and charged me incorrectly twice. They also charge for everything. Spicy Macy cost me $2.25. If someone is spending $80 on food, you could throw in an extra sauce. Will never go here again! No wonder they went from a restaurant to a carry out only!

I'm not sure why this place has so many bad reviews but I thought the food was really good here. A bit pricey compared to other restaurants and this location is very small and had only 3 tables. I enjoyed the food here though.

I asked the owner if my order is correct and complete and firmly she stands and says yes, don't you believe me... I take the food out and I say to myself let me double check my car. A check and what do you know the whole entire order is incorrect... I go back and she starts shouting to her team and they start making the right order. I asked her for chopsticks and she states that she already gave it to me. Unreal.....good food.....terrible customer service from the owner herself !!
