We had a great fishing trip on the 4th of July!! My mom has been following Crazy Sister on Facebook for awhile and was determined to plan a fishing trip for the family.
They are located south of Myrtle Beach and in a great location close to hotels, restaurants and stores like Walmart, Target, etc. There is plenty of parking and its not a long walk from the boat dock.
We easily went inside the Crazy Sister store and checked in for our fishing trip. There is a lot of supplies and apparel/souvenirs you can purchase in the store. We went behind the store and downstairs to get in line for the fishing trip.
Our trip was a deep sea fishing trip from 9am-5pm which I believe they only do on Wednesdays. There are a variety of trips throughout the week. They start boarding the boat about 10-15 minutes before 9am and people get there early to start lining up. We arrived around 8am and there was at least 25-30 people already in line, people want to pick a good spot on the boat. The captain passed out a sheet with the weight requirements and the limits on each fish you could catch and keep. You will be fined by the Game Warden if they find you with fish that are in violation.
Getting on the boat and picking a spot went smoothly. We put our ticket on the hook of the fishing pole where we wanted to sit. The boat we were on was able to sit about 100 people but luckily our boat only had about 60-65 people on it. There was about 5-6 boat crew that was there to help with anything you needed and they work off of tips. TIP THE BOAT CREW!! They are great and very knowledgeable. They are always walking around and they are very quick to help out. They helped us measure our fish, tell us what fish we caught and they untangled a lot of lines while we were fishing.
The boat provides you everything you need, fishing poles, bait (they provide squid, you can purchase other bait on the boat or bring your own) and baskets to put the fish you caught in. You can purchase or bring your own hand towels (I highly suggest them), string to put your fish on ( they are $3) and snacks. They have drinks (sodas, waters, beer) and snacks to purchase on the boat. You can bring a soft cooler to bring your own drinks and snacks but it has to be SOFT! No hard coolers at all.
They crew has 2 freezers to keep your fish cold during the entire trip, 1 in the front and 1 in the back of the boat. They give you a number and you pick your fish up at the end of the trip.
The captain did a great job of finding good fishing spots and knowing when to leave if the fishing slowed up or they just wasn't biting. We caught, red snappers, sea bass, shark, amber jack and a few other random fish. They were pretty good size fish, a few we had to throw back because they were not big enough.
They trip was great, our family loves fishing together and its hard to find a good charter boat. Tickets were about $100 to fish all day, deep sea. The boat was in good condition, plenty of covered seating. There was separate bathrooms. Only cons were it was a few isolated storms in the area so that made the ride very rough. For 2 hours of running those waves it can make you a little sea sick but its not the captains fault. Thankfully the boat wast crowded to the 100 person capacity or it might of been annoying being so close to the people beside you and getting your line tangled several times.
Overall we loved the fishing trip and we already trying to plan our next one!
