Yelp
"Stay here if you want to pay for expensive furniture" - This was by far our most expensive accommodation in Canada -CA $400+ for one night. Of course, our expectations were high. Initially, we were impressed by the brand new fixtures, rustic lodge feel in the lobby - however, the feeling withered away pretty quickly. The reception operator (also the owner) charged us $25 extra for another person (we were party of 3), but at these rates and with a low occupancy (there were 3-4 other rooms occupied out of 12 they have), I would have expected a courtesy. We got to the room - No private bedroom with doors, just a bed on an open loft, only 1 bathroom and our third party had to sleep on the couch. No closets, no hooks, a huge window without any curtains that shed light directly on the loft bed in the morning. We were still hopeful for a good experience and looked outside the window for a view only to find a parking lot with a huge garbage can. This hotel is a classic example of fashion over function. They have splurged handsomely on expensive fixtures, furs and leather chairs - but you are paying for all of that every night. Our last hope was the breakfast next morning, we had high hopes as people had written reviews of farm to table etc. Once again, we were hugely disappointed, to find a motel level, grocery store bought breakfast which had toast, butter, boiled (unpeeled) eggs, watermelon and pineapple. When I asked for custom eggs, I was redirected to the so called "buffet". I regret not rejecting the room the moment I saw it and should have left. We are disappointed, would never come back. I recommend to book Rocky Mountain ski lodge instead - you will get all the function for less than half the price.
