Loud, Crowded, Grease-Stained, and Gloriously Drunk: Where the World Eats After Hours

"Turn any direction in Dōtonbori, the throbbing neon heart of Osaka’s nightlife district, and you’re beset by the siren songs of street food... and make your way to the comparatively sedate red-on-yellow façade of Creo-ru. (The row of red paper lanterns and long line of locals are your markers, and the later the hour, the deeper the queue.)"

We got pork yakisoba, deluxe okonomiyaki, and lemon mojito. Yakisoba was great, not too salty. But the meat was very fatty (think it was pork belly). Okonomiyaki was THICC AF but it was mid… not that flavourful. Some pieces of squid were pretty hard to chew as well. Lemon mojito was sweet and refreshing, but the alcohol wasn’t very noticeable and there was a lot of ice. For appetisers we ordered cucumber and potato salad (not pictured) and they were great! They take a while to cook the okonomi (perhaps due to how much batter they use). Also, right when we were seated the waitress told us that we would have to wait 20-30min for okonomi. Which was strange given that we haven’t even indicated if we were gonna get it 😶 This was also mentioned by another reviewer. Overall 6/10 – satisfied my cravings for yakisoba and okonomi, but could be better 🙂 [Apr 2025]

i liked that it was very spacious and didn’t have a long wait. the takoyaki was crispy outside and soft inside. the sashimi was good. the okonomiyaki took about 20 minutes to arrive, other than that it was speedy. good option for if you’re in a rush and want many small bites.

Fabulous Japanese Kansai Cuisine experience. We were an Indian family of four with teenaged kids visiting Osaka for the first time. Roaming around the crowded Dotonbori area at 8pm on a very crowded street, we were famished after a long summer hot August day in Osaka. We were welcomed by a sweet smiling usher who made us comfortable with a Namaste & promptly seated us though super crowded. The lady server patiently explained us Japanese dummies the type of food and we ordered Okonomiyaki, yakisoba seafood noodle, Takoyaki with lassi & drinks. The restaurant was extremely crowded, noisy, smelling of food, full of tourists & we loved the chaos, having visited very quiet restaurants before. Everything was served hot on the grill plate, freshly made with wonderful flavours. We thoroughly enjoyed our Kansai cuisine touristy experience.

I ate here last Feb, & I consider this to be one of my favorite Takoyaki spots because of the variety of flavors they have available. If you want Takoyaki that’s non-traditional or with cheese, this is the place for you! :)

You could either buy a plate of takoyaki & stand by the shop & eat it or you could also go up to level 2 to eat. On level 2 they serve full meal, alcohol & various stuff. Service is usual polite. Food comes relatively quick. Crowded & noisy, love the vibes thou. Highly recommended !

Among the chaotic streets of Dotonburi it was nice to step away and grab a seat for a period of time. Here we enjoyed the yakisoba and okonomyaki. The star was certainly the okonomiyaki which was served fresh to order and packed with flavour and amazing textures. The main drawback to our experience was the 40 minute wait to receive the order which prompted us to order a yakisoba which was delivered almost instantly. Also didn’t appreciate the restaurant policy of minimum drink order per person. But all in all the okonomiyaki was great.

When you want to drink but go out two friends have to buy 2 drinks. only I have a need, my friend doesn't, i was pressured by the shop to buy two drinks. The attitude of the staff is not good (female staff), not male friends wearing glasses. You should not go to this restaurant, if you do, buy food in the front row, you should not go to the restaurant upstairs.

The takoyaki with soft-boiled eggs and spring onions is the top dish at this restaurant. Normally, I don't enjoy vegetables at all, and since this dish is filled with spring onions, I usually wouldn't eat it. 🤣 I discovered this place from a vlog on YouTube, where the reviewer raved about how delicious it was, so I decided to give it a try. After tasting it, I must say it was truly amazing! The flavor was perfectly balanced, and the batter had its own unique taste. When paired with the soft-boiled eggs and spring onions, it was refreshing and harmonious. It was even more delicious than I expected. No wonder it's the number one dish! 👍🏼
