My husband and I spent four nights at this lovely place and I would stay there again without hesitation. I read about a thousand reviews before booking, and was very happy with my choice! The location is perfect for exploring NOLA. We were within walking distance of the WWII museum, the garden district, and just a block from the St. Charles streetcar which gives you a straight shot to the French Quarter (for $1.50). Our room was spacious and lovely and the A/C was cold, which is quite a feat in July. Breakfast every morning was great and free parking was an added bonus. The staff were so friendly and informative - a lovely place to stay for a few days in New Orleans!

What can I say? This place is the best hotel we have stayed in New Orleans (believe me, we have stayed in many places in New Orleans over the 25+ years we have been coming down). I was greeted warmly on the phone by Keith who booked our room and greeted with a warm welcome by Keith when we arrived. We stayed two weeks over Mardi Gras and my husband said it was the best and most relaxing time he has had in New Orleans. The original room that we booked was beautiful but the tub was a real challenge for my husband to get in and out of so I approached Keith the next day and he made every effort to accommodate us. He immediately put us in the accessible room which was absolutely perfect. There were a few glitches with the room (the vent fan in the bathroom made a horrible noise) but Keith immediately called maintenance and by the next day it was fixed! The daily breakfast was delicious and it gave us a great start to the day. The girls in the kitchen were very friendly and spent time talking to the guests. Steve was kind and entertaining and always stopped by for a chat if we were sitting outside. We have friends that live in New Orleans and they were equally impressed with the hotel and with the room. A real gem!!

One of my absolute favorite places in the whole universe. Pure magic. Creole Gardens exudes charm from every inch in every way- from its vibrant decor, to its cozy rooms, to its top notch location, to its lovely staff. We had our wedding in the roadhouse, but we also blocked out the hotel for ourselves and our guests the weekend of. This was truly one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. The hotel suited us to an absolute T. It’s decked out in art from head to toe, drenched in the most beautiful, vibrant colors.

Many of our guests commented at how unique and special our wedding venue was, and that it brought them a lot of joy. The atmosphere was relaxed, and everyone felt welcome to be themselves and have a fantastic time. It felt like home! We loved sprawling out in the quiet courtyard with friends and family. Breakfast was a highlight of every day- served fresh every morning in the cozy parlor room by Creole Garden’s lovely staff. And speaking of the staff… The staff went above and (far far far) BEYOND, time and time again to make sure we were having the time of our lives. Their generous spirit and fun-loving attitude set the mood, and their exuberance was contagious! We will, without a doubt, be coming back to Creole Gardens on a regular basis. Not just for its top notch service and offerings, but to reconnect with the wonderful people who made our experience unforgettable!

My wife and I stayed here this past weekend. Our experience from the first time I called them, until the time we left, was amazing! The staff was helpful and friendly! The building itself was beautiful! Our room was very comfortable! We were within easy walking to distance to several nice shops and restaurants. It was just a wonderful experience! We will absolutely be staying here again!

Great place!! The staff here are absolutely amazing!! So pleasant, helpful & provide ideas & tips for your stay. The breakfast they provide is an awesome bonus & its good too!!(w/lots of options) Location is in the Garden District, which is beautiful and offers a lot to look at & excellent options for photos. It also has a streetcar for transportation if you choose. Just a quick 8-10 minute drive to the French Quarter. The courtyard & front patio are wonderful for visiting & hanging out. I would definitely stay again.

My husband and I traveled a lot around US in the past. We decided to go to New Orleans to see Mardi Gras this year. So we packed our bags and within 24 hours we reached Creole Gardens Guesthuse&Inn in New Orleans. I have to mention that we have stayed at this lovely house four times already, just because of the friendly and warm people working there. In general, I would not stay anywhere else.|I almost forgot; We are from Slovenia (Europe) and we did not have any trouble at all|entering US. Everybody was welcoming and friendly. So, if you choose to spend your|vacation in US, go for it.

Google
10/10, had a great stay here. The building is eclectic and beautiful, and the staff is great. The room we stayed in was a little small, but it's a 100+ year old building and that just kind of comes with the territory. The place has so much personality, and for the price great for what it is. So if you want to stay in an actual inn that's within walking distance of the French quarter, I would definitely reccomend this place.

Wonderful! Homely, historic and welcoming. We stayed 5 nights in this lovely b and b. The owners were lovely and we enjoyed talking to them about the history of the house, and the history of New Orleans. Great location walkable to the French Quarter or easy access to the trolley.

Yelp
Hail Keith! Keith at Creole Gardens was a HUGE help as we navigated our stay in New Orleans during The Great Sneaux of January 2025. He was unceasingly kind and helpful, making sure we had blankets and space heaters and that we knew which local restaurants and bars would be open. We enjoyed our stay in the bordello! The location is great for walking through both the Quarter and Magazine/Garden District neighborhoods.

Yelp
Pros: Quiet, Quaint and Convenient! Great Customer Service, roomy and lots of things to do in immediate area. I was really worried we were going to have to cancel My daughters 18th birthday trip because of the Hurricane but we were able to make it happen! Keith was an amazing host and called me as soon as he could (despite having been closed for repairs and having to have surgery on a broken ankle). We were even able to upgrade from the smaller bungalow we originally reserved to the Streetcar Suite! It is much bigger and more comfortable We got here early and Keith let us keep our stuff in the office lobby until our room was ready. He gave us info on places to go eat nearby. By the time we were done eating our room was ready. WiFi was still off a little because of power issues but they gave us the office Wi-Fi and we had no issues using our phone. Steve, who I assume is maintence, was working with his crew on hurricane repairs but offered to help with our luggage and stuff since we were on the 3rd floor. They are not your normal 13 step staircase. These are tall mansion staircases so pack light lol The B&B is close to a ton of restaurants, Walgreens, shops, taverns, coffee houses, and 1 block from Camp Street Bud line (11) or St. Charles Street trolley line (green 12). 2 blocks from Magazine Street where so many cute shops are. The Private courtyard and front porch are so quaint and great for sitting with friends and making memories. If you're worried about having more than 2 people in your party (we had 3 all weekend and 4 for one day) and the bathroom situation, there are 2 additional bathrooms for emergency purposes in the downstairs main hallway:)) Private parking lot 2 houses down and they have all the buildings on the block or street parking as well. The street car suite is very roomy!!! Twin day bed, couch and queen memory foam platform bed. Love the clawfoot bathtub and roomy shower. We loved having a small rooftop sitting area and a private stairway down to the courtyard. PS they are pup friendly! Cons; no on site staff at night and needs some updating and replacement of appliances (but right now they are concentrating on hurricane repairs). We had a clogged toilet and o probably just should've gone to Walgreens but called Keith and he went and brought us one. I suggest having one in each bathroom moving forward. 1 of the 2 AC units in our room didn't work and only operated as a fan. But at night (in October) it was cool and we were ok. There are 3 ceiling fans as well. The sheet on the couch (used as a seat cover) was stained and dirty but they brought us a clean one. The daybed is wrought iron and the top bed, on the main feame, squeaks pretty bad. so if whoever is sleeping on it tosses and turns it's noisy. We simply used the trundle only and the couch instead to solve that problem. Overall if they just fixed the AC and used WD40 on the bed this is a great place to stay!

Yelp
I come to New Orleans most years for French Quarter Festival and Jazz Fest, and always stay at Creole Gardens, an authentic guesthouse. The Big Easy is NOT a place I want to stay in a 'corporate' hotel. At CG, i'm in N'awlins from the moment I enter the gate. Rooms are all individualized and themed, the shady courtyard is dominated by a big banana tree that offers solace on hot days, the included hot eggs 'n grits breakfast (shrimp on Sundays) is both delicious and brings everyone into the dining room to make new friends. The fabled St. Charles streetcar is only a block away, to take you to the French Quarter or uptown, with its storied mansions. Rates are moderate, and it's pet-friendly to boot! Can't recommend it more highly.

Yelp
Delightful home. Close to trolley which is so convenient. Good grocery store fairly close. Luxurious room.

Yelp
Excellent place to stay! Friendly, helpful staff and willing to accommodate. Quaint, clean rooms with private entry though the welcoming garden courtyard. Only 1 block from the St. Charles historic streetcar. Definitely will make be making future reservations at this location.

Yelp
Cool little mom and pop place located away from the touristy places. Charming and quirky, some local live music in the courtyard area on weekends, great staff, one block from the trolleys, lots of eateries within walking distance. I'll be back.

Yelp
Loved this place! Perfectly located close to parks, restaurants, and walking distance from the French quarter (although, I found more to see outside the French quarter). Had the cutest room with a pedestal bathtub. Lots of nice areas to sit outside in the evenings. Great breakfast in the morning. Service was excellent. I highly recommend!

Yelp
I was in the middle of a Covid phase which is why it's taken me a long time to post. Very charming place to stay. Don't let the surrounding businesses or residences change your mind. The place is very secure. This was a mansion dating from the 1840's. Some of the rooms were slave quarters. Our room was very cozy with some enchanting fixtures. Walking around the grounds there are places to sit and admire the greenery and hangings. I was leery that there wouldn't be enough hot water for my daughter and I, but there was plenty. For breakfast there are pastries and coffee served in a nice size dining area, along with oatmeal, bagels and tea. I cannot say enough about the staff. They were friendly and accommodating.

Yelp
We loved our 7-night stay at Creole Gardens. It was our first Bed and Breakfast experience and it unquestionably fulfilled our desire for local flavor and charm. The property is in a quiet neighborhood and is decorated inside and out for maximum appeal. Creighton checked us in on a Saturday and he was manning the desk again the following Saturday when we checked out. Everything went smooth and he gave us a brief tour of the property and amenities. The rooms are named. We stayed in Mansion 1. It's located up a flight of stairs at the front of the property in the main building. This room features a King Bed, a nice size private bathroom with a claw-foot tub and separate shower, and a private gallery. I couldn't stop smiling when we walked in and explored the space that would be ours to enjoy for the week. The bedding was good quality and comfortable, as were the towels in the bathroom. They provided boutique-quality containers of shampoo, conditioner and bath soap. There is a hair dryer mounted on the wall. We had brought a supply of water with us and the bedroom has a small wine cooler in the corner, which meant we had cold drinks available in-room, as we desired. (FYI, they have a few sundries such as champagne available at reception.) Breakfast was served each morning in the parlor. Monday thru Friday the hours are 7:30 - 9:30 and on the weekend they change to 8:30 - 10:30. Each day we helped ourselves to items set out. During our stay there were always bagels and bread for toasting, pieces of pastry, grits, granola, cut-up fruit and orange juice, water, tea and coffee. The hot breakfast changes daily. What is available is written on the chalk board and one of the lovely ladies working asks what you would like. Both Barbaras were amazing. Part of the great starts to our mornings was seeing their smiling faces and eating the excellent fare provided. We enjoyed sitting in the courtyard to read. Listening to the fountain gurgle while we sat among the vibrant colors and lush plants was awesome. The space can be full of sun but it's designed in a way we always found a place in the shade. This property is dog friendly but the only place we saw or heard a dog was in the courtyard. One couple was getting back from a walk with their furry friend and another time we heard one give a couple barks after it must have heard a noise. Parking is complimentary and the lot is nice. Wi-Fi is included but we had some issues connecting our phones (laptop connected easier). We reverted to using our phone data plan part of our stay. The location is an easy, one-block walk to the St. Charles streetcar line and some great places to drink/eat. It's also not far from a Walgreen's to get drinks/snacks or public transit passes. There is an Office Depot that will sell you individual stamps for postcards, however they charge fifty cents per stamp, so I'd recommend remembering to bring postage with you. FINAL ASSESSMENT: Our room provided the perfect blend of local flavor and comfort. Service was professional and friendly. The breakfasts exceeded our expectations. We aren't typically early risers (especially on vacation) but we made a point to have breakfast each morning. It was that good. We couldn't imagine having a better experience. Highly Recommended.

Yelp
This was a nice spot. Right around the corner from the trolley to Bourbon st. Check in was very easy. It looks like a hostel with a bunch of single rooms with en-suite bathrooms. The rooms are small but comfy. Ceiling fan and air conditioning. The bed was very comfortable as well. Parking safe and right around the corner. My only two cons: the have the smallest trash can it will fill up in one day but then don't want people putting stuff in the toilet? Come on spend a little on bigger trash cans. The second, when I was leaving on my last day I saw a dead cockroach in the bathroom. So I guess this place has roaches. So if your ok with all of this then have a good stay.

Yelp
Checking out DJ Davis at the Creole Gardens tonight! Great show by a fantastic performer. Its amazing what you can see here in New Orleans! Creole Gardens is in the historic Garden District and has an informal little room where local acts perform. No cover!

Joseph F.

Yelp
Creole Gardens Our expectations were not high, but this place still managed to fall way short. We were assigned the upstairs and downstairs rooms in the Prytania Cottage about a block from the main building. Some issues: - the downstairs heat did not work, except for about 5 minutes after replacing the thermostat batteries. One morning the indoor temperature was 61 degrees. - The place absolutely needs a deep cleaning. The dust and dirt in some areas indicated the furniture had not been moved for months or years. - The dishwasher was out of order. - Many of the light bulbs upstairs were out. None were available from management. - Everything that needed to be addressed fell under the category of "do it yourself". No one to do anything. - We were told there would be an adjustment in our bill. It has been 48 hours and no credit has been issued. We do not plan to return.

Yelp
We've stayed here twice for Essence Fest and it's the BEST!! From the location to the staff and the daily morning breakfast it gets no better!!

Yelp
We really loved our room which was called Mansion 3. Beautiful french doors that opened up to the terrace which was perfect for outdoor meals. The king size bed was super comfy. Getting up in the mornings really took a lot of our willpower. The garden was beautiful and lush, which I guess is to be expected in New Orleans. But the best part was being 1 block away from St Charles Street during Mardi Gras! Enjoying the parades and partying all night made this location ideal for us. And of course, being in the Garden District among all the beautiful houses was also a plus. We are looking forward to our next visit to New Orleans, and our next stay at Creole Gardens.

Yelp
4.5 stars Stayed here for 2 nights in cottage 10. The place is funky and really charming. We loved the special touches, the garden and decorations. The breakfast was good both days, loved the pancakes! We took the advice of a previous reviewer and ordered "everything" when the kitchen ladies asked us what we wanted to eat. Coffee was good and I really appreciated being able to get my own extra towels and soap, etc. I felt safe in the neighborhood. I also really loved that my dog was welcome. There was an aggressive pitbull in another room which was a little scary coming in and out of the property with my little dog. The property could be improved by a paint job In some areas- was peeling pretty bad in many places. Also, all of the furniture in our room was great except the armoire is really beat up and the rug is frayed. If the rug was cleaned/repaired and the armoire replaced, it would def bring the room up another level. Lastly, I was a bit turned off and disappointed in the way one of the women in the kitchen spoke to one of her fellow kitchen staff. She yelled at her in front of guests, which I felt was unprofessional and rude. The woman who was yelled at was embarrassed and I felt handled it very well. Unfortunately I wasn't able to catch their names. Overall, it was a positive experience staying here and I would stay again.

Yelp
This is a diamond in the rough! Rooms are quaint and comfortable. You should stay there just because of the free breakfast and the wonderful ladies who make it! When they come to ask what you want, just say "everything." They had spicy creole biscuits and gravy, pancakes, shrimp and grits, sausage and creole potatoes. On Sunday, they even had Mimosas. This is within walking distance of everything. A little courtyard in the middle of the rooms, if you want to chat over some cold brews.

Yelp
Staying at Creole Gardens is stepping into a timeless reprieve of culture and good old fashioned southern hospitality, managing to perfectly capture the magic of New Orleans. Miss Andy, Victoria and the Black Queen Ann were so warm, welcoming and helpful during our stay. Greeted upon our arrival with a hot cup of coffee and cordial conversation, being here felt like home and we will definitely be back on our next trips. The staff was very accommodating for the duration of our stay. We were upgraded to mansion room 1 which was beautiful, clean and quaint(another guest required ground level access which was the initial room we booked). The bed was very comfortable and I think I had the best bath of my life in the claw foot tub(careful the water stays VERY hot!). Everything we wanted to do and see was within walking distance. Hoping they can get the breakfast part back soon as I have a feeling Miss Ann cooks a mean one! So enjoyed being part of this historic bed n breakfast! Very good energy here! Until next time!

Yelp
What a wonderful, safe, quiet little B&B here in the heart of New Orleans! Seriously, it's just wonderful! We literally experienced NO regrets during our stay here. This is a colorful little antebellum mansion that's attached to its old slave quarters as well as a Bordello that have been converted into cozy, exquisite little rooms! Rooms so cozy, you'll literally sink into their new, upper grade quality mattresses and NEVER want to leave! Just relax and order in if you'd like! There are NUMEROUS, excellent restaurants very nearby. Asian, Irish, Italian, Mexican, Cajun, Creole, BBQ and American within EASY walking distance. In fact, if you want authentic Cajun or Creole food, fresh Gulf Oysters, or anything else, it's literally at your fingertips! They all deliver. I didn't realize this part was important but here goes. This B&B actually line drys their linens here folks! And, I've got to tell you, the smells the magnolias, other flowers, natural plants and banana trees impart to them is incomparable to any linens you've ever smelt! Even in childhood, if you're my age! [45] Such clean smelling rooms! The rooms are so clean! So quaint! So comforting and welcoming! It's almost like they're expecting you and every need you have! Each morning, there's a free, delicious, hot, homemade to order Creole or Southern breakfast waiting for you until 10AM. Breakfast is also served with fresh breads, delicious pastries, fresh fruits and juices as well! Seriously, you won't be disappointed! You can also access their microwaves until all hours. I can't say enough about the kitchen staff. If you're looking for authentic New Orleans, you'll find it within all of them! Big Mama runs the kitchen and she certainly aims to please! As does her entire staff! They're all so friendly and accommodating! Smiles on all faces at all times. The coffee is excellent as well! And, I hate coffee! Well, I don't anymore! There's also a safe, locked/gated common area courtyard with running waterfalls, relaxing Coy ponds and banana trees that you can sit, read, drink, relax and get to know your fellow guests by. Guests from every part of the globe! In one night, I met the Dutch, the French, the German, the Spanish and my own American guests! And all SO friendly and SO relaxed! This B&B is also VERY pet friendly! They're not allowed in the mansion VIP area but, everywhere else. That meant a lot to us! Otherwise we wouldn't even thought to have booked here. There's also a little Cajun [divey shin-dig?] restaurant/bar right next to this B&B. High energy, authentic great food and music every Friday night until 10PM with a live DJ. I tell ya, she's a real character! I've never had such a great time in such a tiny little dive! In closing, don't pass this little gem up. Especially if all you want is comfort, accommodations and privacy! I swear, I've never slept better in my life! In fact, the worst part of this trip was being forced to leave. I could have easily lived here. But, unfortunately all good things must end. P.S., we stayed in room #12. Go ahead. Try that clean bed. You'll sleep like a baby!

Yelp
By far the best place to stay in NOLA! I couldn't believe when this showed up in my hotel search when I was looking for places within walking distance of the convention center. The ladies here are queens of breakfast, music, and so much more!! I will never stay anywhere else when I come back to this beautiful town.
google avatar

Yelp
I have traveled all over the world and this is in my top 5 places, ever! You need to be ready not for a 5 star hotel, but one of the warmest, friendliest and funnest places you will ever experience. The facilities are unique and clean, but the service is superb and one of a kind. Black Queen Annie, the breakfast cook and night DJ makes the entire experience! Whenever we are in NOLA, there's no other place for us to stay, but The Creole Garden!
google avatar

Yelp
I could go on and on about how much I loved this place. It's dog friendly, no size, quantity, or breed restrictions! This property contains 3 neighboring buildings, the mansion, the bordello, and the slave quarters and each has a different feel/charm. We stayed in the bordello and had an upstairs room with a balcony facing Prytania. This place has all the old historic New Orleans charm you could possibly want. The breakfast was delicious and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We felt very safe and comfortable and had an awesome anniversary stay with Creole Gardens! We will be returning in the future!

Yelp
I came to NOLA for a work trip that is actually 30 mins outside of New Orleans, however I wanted to get the full NOLA experience so I started looking for a cute, charming place to stay and found Creole Gardens. This place has all of the southern charm you would expect. You walk into the office to check in (which is part of the mansion), and almost feel like you walked into the wrong spot, but the woman behind the desk (I forget her name) was so sweet! She gave me great recommendations on where to eat that weren't part of the tourist crowd and within a 5 minute walk. The courtyard is exactly what I want in my backyard at home. POSITIVE: I stayed in Cottage 10 and was pleased with the accommodations. The furniture and overall look and feel makes you feel like you are living in the 20th century, however there are modern twists and this is EXACTLY my style, so if this isn't your thing, then you may not want to stay here. I wish I could take some of the furniture home with me. The bed was comfy and the breakfast is made to order. There is a small parking area near the building and the French Quarter is just a short ride away. NEGATIVE: The bed spread needed cleaned. There is no ice machine, at least that I found. I cannot say that I am surprised though given that this is a bed and breakfast. If you are looking for luxury, this place isn't for you. If you want charm and a throwback to living in 20th century, this is the place for you.

Yelp
Absolutely loved the Creole Gardens B&B. The property was built in the 1840's and the decor in the courtyard reflects the colorful pageantry of NOLA. I traveled solo, stayed for 6 nights, enjoyed a daily Southern breakfast 5 out of 6 mornings, served with much warmth and hospitality by the staff. One block away from the St Charles streetcar, an easy 10-12 minute ride to Canal Street and The Quarter, also within walking distance of WWII Museum. Truly a unique neighborhood in the Garden District, nice and quiet break from the hectic Quarter. An authentic New Orleans experience!

Yelp
I was skeptical at first. This property is classic old New Orleans. We absolutely loved it..our room was very clean. Loved the quiet and privacy...I booked online while traveling to New Orleans and was hoping that we had a room. They promptly called me to verify our reservation. Very accommodating.. Streetcar is one block away. Several nice places to eat within walking distance. Free parking....very quiet neighborhood... Perfect couples getaway... Will definitely go back....

Yelp
This place is a delight! Quiet neighborhood, easy access to mass transit, very clean, friendly staff, comfy beds, a real find! Breakfast is delish!

Yelp
The Creole Gardens is a lovely bed and breakfast to stay at. Everyone there us extremely friendly and work hard to make sure that your stay is comfortable. It's a very colorful small building across from a restaurant called Seed. They have a small private parking lot outside. The immediate surrounding area is a bit run down but a couple blocks away it starts to get nicer. The have a complimentary breakfast every morning and it changes daily. We, unfortunately, missed shrimp and grits by 1 day. We only stayed overnight but it was worth it.

Yelp
My fiancé and I are regrettably on our way home from New Orleans and of the many wonderful things we did while visiting staying at Creole Gardens bed and breakfast was our best decision. The entire staff was amazing, warm and friendly, the room we stayed in was just beautiful and had so much character, we had a hard time motivating ourselves to get out and explore the city because it was so cozy there and the breakfasts Anne made were some of the best meals we've ever had! Additionally Creole Gardens is in a wonderful location in close proximity to the warehouse district, museums and the french quarter. The only downside to our stay was leaving and I can honestly say we will never stay anywhere else in New Orleans. So, If you're looking for a charming bed and breakfast, with a welcoming staff and delicious southern breakfasts each morning look no further!

Yelp
We LOVED our stay here and I'm picky when it comes to where I'm staying. Our room (bordello 7) was spotless and SO cute! The place was peaceful and had so Much character. The staff is incredibly welcoming. Breakfast was awesome! (Bacon, eggs and shrimp and grits, plus bagels, toast, yogurt fruit and coffee and juice) I won't stay anywhere else in NOLA.

Yelp
If you visit New Orleans and don't get out of the French Quarter, you're missing something amazing: the chance to live in an authentic neighborhood among some of the warmest and most welcoming people you could ever hope to know. We spent a couple of days in the lovely Bywater district (downtown/downriver) then moved uptown to this unique bed-and-breakfast inn in the Lower Garden District. What a treat. Miss Annie aka Motown Queen Anne is in charge of the kitchen and is also a dj, spinning classic records on Friday nights and special occasions, like the Sunday art show and vintage clothing sale that took place while we were there. A wonderful lady named Andie, newly arrived in New Orleans to live near her daughter, greeted us at check-in and shared our wide-eyed enthusiasm about New Orleans and the neighborhood. Since we were staying longer than originally expected, and the inn was fully booked by people requesting specific rooms, we had to move once during our stay here but it was an opportunity to sample the place in two different moods. (Take their website's advice and book your room directly, by PHONE; the rooms are all so different, and an online booking service isn't going to give you all your options.) First we had Cottage 12. The "cottages" are actually rooms in the old servants' quarters ("dependency") behind the mansion, wrapping around three sides of a big communal courtyard. Cottage 12 was an airy, high-ceilinged space painted in cool blues and whites, so pretty! It can be a little noisy (sounds of early risers outside in the morning) and the white curtains don't do much to darken the room, so if you're a light sleeper you might mention that when selecting your room. Cottage 12 had a mini-fridge and like both of our rooms it was dog-friendly. The clawfoot tub really functions as a shower, since it has a shower-style drain. Our next room and hands-down favorite was the front downstairs room at the Bordello, a vintage two-story building next door. These rooms are each named for a famous New Orleans madam from the Streeterville era, and ours was Countess Willie Piazza's Hall of Splendor. Fist pump! It was fabulous: four poster bed curtained all around in wine-red lace, an old fireplace mantel, heavy curtains to tame the sun coming through tall windows, and a big, private front porch facing Prytania Street. The TV picture was a little fuzzy in this room, but who cares? The space was quiet, private and gorgeous. You can walk to a bunch of bars and restaurants on St Charles (Irish House is a wonderful place to chill) or walk deeper into the neighborhood down Prytania and discover some charming old homes and a sweet little park on Terpsichord. This is a mostly working-class community, not the Garden District of grand mansions, but we found that if you greet the people you meet on your local walks with "Good morning/good evening," you'll be greeted cordially.

Yelp
I knew nothing about this gem, location or New Orleans, except for what I briefly read online. I needed something more affordable than the huge hotels near the French Quarter, but I wanted something with character. I also needed something to accommodate 4 of us. We hit the jackpot! Clean, quiet, laid back, funky, great hot breakfast, nice and helpful staff. A couple blocks from the St Charles streetcar. I almost want to keep this place a secret but that wouldn't be fair to this business or others. When I come back to New Orleans I will stay here again!!!

Yelp
Really cool and interesting place tucked away in an interesting and convenient neighborhood. Friendly staff. Amazing courtyard. Lots of flavor. Modern bathroom/shower.

Yelp
We stayed in the rear of the property, in what was once the slave quarters for the main mansion. Our room had been recently renovated and had a brand spanking new bathroom. I loved our stay here. They allowed my 2 cats and even provided extra sheets to keep the cat fur off the comforters. The courtyard was adorable. The banana trees made me smile. Every employee at the Creole Guesthouse truly cared about providing friendly service and keeping guests happy. Free parking in a city known for expensive parking was a big plus. Creole Garden Guesthouse is a quick walk to the streetcar or a $10 cab ride to the French Quarter. I have stayed in other places in NOLA but in the future, I would stay here again and again. Bonus: Creole Garsen Guesthouse cares about the community. When Baton Rouge had flooding in August of 2016, they let people with dogs and cats stay in the rear cottages free of charge until the water went down and people could start going home to rebuild. How cool is that? Forget the cookie cutter hotels. Stay in this gem. The accommodations may not be 5 star white glove service but if you are not high falutin, you won't find a better hotel at this price point

Yelp
I really need to rave about this place for a minute. I love how cozy the house itself is- there are rooms in the back area and there is a nice colorful patio. We were in one of the back rooms that is right off of the street and it was nice and quiet and we weren't bothered at all. The room is small, but if you are looking for a great "crash pad" during Mardi Gras, or any other time that you are visiting, this is the place for you. I love this neighborhood, and there are a lot of bars and restaurants in the area that are walkable and the streetcar is just a few blocks over. The staff is as nice as can be- the first time I dealt with a man and the second time I dealt with a woman. I think they are both owners and they were helpful in getting us cabs so that we could zip around town. Creole Gardens has a complimentary breakfast for customers- one at 7am and one at 9am. You order at the kitchen and they bring your food to you in the dining room.

Yelp
Most adorable Inn. Very lovely! Room was incredible. I stayed in one of the bordello rooms. Everything was perfect. The staff made me feel at home and where accommodating to every need. Loved the location. It's perfectly set between the garden district and French quarter. There's a trolley that you can take to either place. You can buy a all day pass for $3. I will definitely come here again on my next trip!

Yelp
I'll never stay anywhere else in NOLA! This place is, well, quirky - in the best way possible. It's a complex of old buildings around a central courtyard and every room seems to be completely different from each other. It's clean as a whistle, the staff are great, helpful and friendly and the location can't be beat. We stayed in the Bordello building and loved our room with its chandelier and claw foot tub. This place isn't a full service hotel - reception closes at 8pm (there is a helpful and friendly afterhours guy on site just in case) - they give you a key and show you around the multi-building complex and then leave you to enjoy yourself. There's music in the Roadhouse on Fridays, free hot breakfast every morning and the staff are happy to chat with you about the history of NOLA or simply where to eat lunch. We'll be back!

Yelp
This place is a gem! It was our first time in New Orleans and our stay was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The staff was incredible and added to the character and charm of the place. Rooms were comfortable and spacious. The decor is so bright and fun, it really captured the spirit of New Orleans. I will definitely be booking this again!

Yelp
This is the only place I will stay when I go to New Orleans. I've stayed at 5 star hotels in New Orleans and did not like any of them better than Creole Gardens. I love to travel with my dog and Creole Gardens is extremely pet friendly. The rooms are clean and there are a lot of great restaurants within walking distance. Breakfast is always wonderful and the staff makes you feel like family. I would recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone.

Yelp
We recently took a road trip with our three 80-lb dogs. Crazy, I know, but we had so much fun! The very pet-friendly Creole Gardens Bed & Breakfast was our first overnight stop. It is so awesome they don't have any restrictions on the number of pets, weight or breed. We only stayed one night, but I couldn't have picked a better place. The location was perfect; close to everything! The building was huge, taking up almost an entire city block. The architecture was stylish and colorful. We called and booked a room same day with no hassle, despite the fact they were mostly full. The staff member who took the reservation was super friendly. He even called back twice: once to upgrade us to a bigger room due to a cancellation (yay!), and again to make sure we had good directions to arrive safely. The room rate was reasonable, even with the additional pet fees. We did experience something strange...one of my dogs absolutely freaked out every time we walked through the courtyard to/from our room. She would run through, practically dragging us along, but as soon as we were out of the courtyard she acted normal again. Not sure why...maybe she saw a ghost?? I didn't get the chance to ask about known local hauntings, but it is New Orleans after all. My other two dogs seemed unfazed. Coliseum Square Park is just down the street, in the amazing Lower Garden District. I walked my dogs there in the morning and watched the city wake up. Afterwards, I headed to the beautifully decorated dining room to enjoy a delicious self-serve spread of coffee, OJ, fruit, toast and yogurt. The kitchen special was 2 eggs, bacon, and grits. Oh yes, bring it on! I ordered my eggs over easy, and my food was delivered fast, hot and perfectly cooked. The grits were some of the best I've ever tasted, so rich and buttery. I'm drooling just from the memory. Compliments to the chef! Upon checkout the staff member offered us some advice on the best route to take to our next stop, as well as some suggestions on interesting places to stop along the way. I signed the guest book, thanking them for their hospitality and promising to return. We will definitely be back, and I highly recommend Creole Gardens to anyone, whether or not you're traveling with pets. Five stars!

Yelp
I extend my highest recommendation to this charming B&B! The proximity to places of interest is perfect! You can jump on a streetcar in less than a five minute walk from the front door and be anywhere you want. The room was well equipped and the garden and pet friendly environment was very welcoming. The room was ice cold and in August in NOLA that is a hard trick to pull off. The breakfast was wonderful (hope you arrive on Shrimp and Grits day). Very filling breakfast made to order and served in a beautiful dinning room. I found all the staff to be friendly and engaging. Had a wonderful conversation with the owner and staff members over breakfast! Such a hospitable and friendly environment... you will see me again! Thanks for a wonderful weekend my son and I will never forget!

Yelp
My daughter had her wedding there last weekend. We had booked it sight unseen, and I was a little nervous. Well, we were not disappointed! Creole Gardens is a charming eclectic Inn. The staff was wonderful and charming. Breakfast every morning was not to be missed, it featured 4 hot dishes every day, and a mimosa on Sunday! Their support staff-wedding planner Julie and her assistant Charlotte made the wedding day run so smoothly with a professional hand. They were a pleasure to work with. The event room was really fun and everything went so smoothly.

Yelp
I submitted this letter to the establishment and thought I'd post a selection from it here: To Creole Gardens, Today I visited your property because I was interested in having a romantic and fun getaway with my boyfriend. I had spent awhile researching properties the evening before, and yours impressed me as lovely and very reasonably priced. Upon entering, I explained that I was interested in renting a room on Sunday and wanted to look around so I could decide for sure. The woman at the desk, immediately asked me what my "price point" was. I assumed she was trying to determine if I was planning to stay in one of the basic rooms or one of the nicer suites. I laughed and said, "As low as possible," meaning that I was interested in one of the basic rooms. She smiled a small smile and said, "Mmm, that's what I thought. This isn't really that kind of place." I was pretty shocked by this interaction. I was surprised that she so quickly decided that I was not a welcome customer. I don't know if it was my dress (casual - jeans and a black, sleeveless top), my age (I'm in my late 20s), or my race (I'm Black), but apparently she'd decided that your property was not the place for me. Rather than saying where their rates started at, she dismissed me. I have to say, if not for the treatment I got at the front desk, I would have happily rented a room and recommended it to my friends and family. One of the things that I like about New Orleans is the service. Typically people are casual and even when they are not prompt and professional, people are friendly. Visiting this otherwise charming establishment, I was both angered and saddened by the treatment I received. ****************** Edited to Add: I submitted this letter through the Creole Gardens website (so perhaps I should have said e-mail?). The email was sent to info@creolegardens.com on October 15, 2010 at 4:08PM. Hopefully you'll be able to find it with that information. If not, please feel free to message me on Yelp, and I will share the original letter and a description of the woman with whom I interacted (I figured putting that online would be rude, but I included the description in the email). I'm betting that wasn't typical service, but it's what I received and Yelp averages ratings for a reason.

Yelp
Our stay in Creole Gardens was amazing, we spent 2 nights in New Orleans we were blown away by how beautiful and clean the place was, once inside the rooms it was MAGNIFICENT!!!! at a great price plus our host was very attentive and helpful. The street is quite, and located in a safe area and the St. Charles streetcar is only a block away or if you prefer to use Uber is a very cheap trip to Bourbon street (About 5 or 6 usd). Breakfast was good, and there was a wide assortment of teas and coffee in the dining room whenever we wanted some. They also have free parking Thank you for the hospitality we will definitely be back!

Yelp
Creole Gardens, like New Orleans, has a lot of ups and downs. It's an adorable BnB wedged in the edge of the Garden District. This provides easy access to the St. Charles trolley line, as well as good walking and even running, if you're so inclined. However, it seems somewhat close to downtown, which is why our neighbor early in the morning was a homeless woman sitting on the adjacent porch howling at cars and passerbys. That's not Creole Gardens' fault, but it does make getting dressed in the morning difficult when your every movement is punctuated by rasping shouting and gurgling insults. Our room was one of the older ones (as admitted by the manager), and set off aside from the main building. It was called "The Bordello" and was quite cute. Like a good BnB room, it felt lived in, comfortable and cozy. The bed was a beautiful four-post piece, and the bathroom was spacious and kitted out with all the things you need to wipe away the accumulated grime and smells of Bourbon St. Not all members of my travel party agreed. I thought the room had a generic room freshener smell, but someone insisted that the room reeked of urine. We also had to wrestle a little bit with a few things. One of the lamps was unplugged, and the power was back behind the bed in an inconvenient and hard to reach place. The bathroom was also a bit spotty. The sink and shower were in immaculate condition, but patches of the floor (especially in the corners) looked unswept and unmopped. The courtyard at the center of the BnB's complex is really beautiful, and every time I passed through there, strangers were chatting it up under fronds and enjoying drinks as the air cooled. The breakfast was also just good enough that it'd be well worth it to take your morning calories in there rather than go out and about and throw $10 down for a plate of eggs. The morning we were there, they served the regular continental fare, plus Creole potatoes, bacon and eggs. And the chicory coffee served was the best I had over the course of our stay in NOLA. Because one member of our travel party insisted on moving to a different hotel, we brought her complaints to the manager and pointed out what we felt was unsatisfactory with the room. The manager very, very generously refunded our remaining stays, and even discounted the total cost of the night we had stayed, acknowledging that the room we stayed in was overdue for some renovation. Although I still disagree with my travel partner's assessment, it is worth pointing out that even if you do have problems here, politely articulating them will get you a quick and fair solution. All in all, I'd definitely come back here with (different) friends. The area, the atmosphere and the vittles are all great ways to limn a trip to New Orleans.

Yelp
Just got back from NOLA for a conference and I stayed here. While I was waiting for my connecting flight I got a message from someone telling how to get my keys as I was going to be arriving close to midnight. That was nice of them. The place is in a decent neighborhood, but it is a little dilapidated. I can agree with another review that it could use some paint and a little gardening maintance in the front. Stayed in the Bordello house, and had a nice huge window you opened that you step on to your own private balcony and see what is going on the neighborhood. I think there was only one other person in that building with me. One of the guys helping run the place said that is slow because there weren't any festival things. It was pretty quiet. In reading other reviews a few things: The South is much slower, than California, Los Angeles especially, so relax. New Orleans is practicing "green", so though they don't come to your room to change the sheets or towels everyday, they do say that if that is want you want, let them know. They are just trying to conserve and save planet earth. Don't think the establishment cares what color you are there. I saw an interracial couple, a gay couple along with straight folks. Yes there was one cook, but in talking to other folks, this B&B offers hot breakfast as well as continental. More than what those pricey hotels offer. I think that is nothing. It would be nice to have a little refridgerator in the room and maybe a communal microwave in the common area. It is really convenient to the street car (2 blocks) which will take you to Canal and St. Charles so you can get your French Quarter on. I would definitely stay at this place again. Resonable and had one of the best grits in Naw'lins! This is probably the best to real NOLA than staying at corporate hotel.

Yelp
I'm late reviewing this place but we absolutely loved it. It is very friendly, convenient, safe, clean and quiet. We were a block from the streetcar so we were able to visit every place in the city we wanted to see very easily. The courtyard is beautiful and a very relaxing spot to start or end the day. The staff was great - from calls when me made reservations to our departure. They were helpful and provided lots of good advice and tips. Breakfasts were wonderful every day and we loved the wonderful women who provided it with a smile. Don't forget to investigate the neighborhood. It's a real treasure. One of the highlights of the trip for me was the Friday Night DJ show with Queen Annie. It was so beautiful, I can't even describe how her story touched me. We loved the city, the people, the entire experience. If we ever get back, we'll stay again.

Yelp
Came to the Creole Gardens for our honeymoon and it was a delight. The owner and everyone who works there is so helpful and sweet. We arrived before check-in and they let us keep our bags behind the front desk while we went out and about until time to check-in. The room was spotless, but if you're looking for something more modern this wouldn't be your style. I see someone said shabby chic and I completely agree. It had just about anything we needed though. They do not do a full cleaning every day, just really reload toliet paper and change out towels if you leave them on the ground. They also make up the bed. The breakfast is very simple and good. The week we were there, there were pancakes, eggs and bacon that they make to order. There are some pastries, bagels, fruit and yogurt on a buffet. There's also coffee but don't wait until the end of breakfast because we ended up missing the coffee twice! On the day we were leaving, they once again let us leave our bags behind the front desk while we adventured some more during the day. Then, when we were ready to leave (we were moving to a hotel in Gretna because they did up the rate for Halloween and we couldn't afford it), they called us a cab and started telling us about some cool local places to try and talking to us about Atlanta (where we're from). Super nice people. Would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
We booked a room here last minute and got the penthouse. This is an old house that has been fixed up nicely and is Less than a mile from the French quarter. Our room was the converted attic space at the top of two staircases and we had our own rooftop patio. Excellent staff and a great breakfast of bacon and French toast. I wish we could have stayed an extra day.
