The restaurant has such a nice and inviting atmosphere when you first walk in. The staff were really nice and attentive of our needs. My sister and I had the creole shrimp, the sauce they served with it was so good and there was a little kick to it. We also ordered the gumbo and the creole catfish, both entrees were really good and flavorful, I’m usually not trusting of catfish, but this one was so well seasoned and just melted in my mouth every bite I took. The portions were very sizable and we have left overs! Definitely going to come back!

Google
Food was amazing and it came fast. We went on soul food Sunday and after ordering it only took 15 minutes for our food to come. The catfish was absolutely delicious, the sauce, the mashed potatoes, the cornbread, cabbage…all of it. Our server Jayla was also really nice and the staff was very attentive to us. Will be coming back!

Google
The food was decent because I was hungry. No sugar or black pepper, which was disappointing. My food wasn't hot. The grits were luke warm. The server was a nice woman. I'll definitely try them out again to try the alligator bites.

The food was even more delicious than I expected. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. We were greeted by Jayla and she check with us insuring everything was satisfactory. I could go on and on about the flavorful food. The whole experience was wonderful. They definitely have new regular customers, we most definitely will be back frequently.

Google
Literally the best shrimp and grits I have ever tasted. The atmosphere is so cozy and inviting. The staff was very sweet and attentive. Don’t let the wait get you because once you get your food, it will all make sense. Every single dish is fresh and hot. The flavors are beyond anything I’ve tried in a while. I absolutely recommend.

Google
Amazing experience from start to finish! I came in before they officially opened, and the manager’s kindness blew me away — she offered me a Sprite and great conversation while I waited. Renisha and the young lady who made my mocktail were wonderful, and the food? The best shrimp and grits I’ve ever had, and my husband loved his catfish po’boy. Even the leftovers tasted fresh the next day.

Google
Pretty good food. Were out of a few items we want to try. Issue with their credit card machine may have kept some people out today. Cash or one of money apps was offered. Food portions were good size. Our orders came with the same type of dipping sauce. Thought an option for sauce would have been nice. Fried green tomatoes came thick and thin Sliced. Needed just a little salt to make them pop. If dipped in sauce, made it taste pretty good. Except sauce was a little to spicy for my wife. The cajun fried were good. Cheese, sauce and cut up sausage on top. Gator bits were good with the sauce. The sauce is a hot sauce, butter base, cajun flavor added. Was out of cobbler. Will have to come back another time. Check them out. Full bar, plenty of seating and tvs.

Google
Jayla was our server and she was amazing. We stumbled upon this beautiful little restaurant by accident and she not only served us but also gave us a little history on the area and welcomed us with such generosity. Then the food came and we were blown away! Amazing experience all the way around.

Yelp
Authentic creole spot at the grove and warm hospitality! It's my first time trying this restaurant, and I had a great experience. The food was absolutely delicious. The spices are well combined and just on point. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Ok so to be fair, the atmosphere experience wasn't the places fault, and I was impressed at how the staff handled a stressful customer, but man.. we were one of two groups in the place and it was just so loud and kind of an awkward feeling atmosphere with seating in the dead center of the room. It definitely made it hard to focus on the amazing food and the company but they really threw down in the kitchen, I'd come back but get take out next time lol

Yelp
I can say by far this was one of the best dining experiences I have had from start to finish in a very long time. I was in town for a conference and heard about the food a while ago and my friend and I stopped in for lunch and I'm so glad we did. The decor, the artwork, the ambiance were collectively there. Now I did sit in the yellow chairs their cute but low seating compared to table lol just a heads up but it's wasn't too big of a deal to us. Our waiter was Beauty and she was an amazing waiter she was helpful, and attentive. Our bar tender was Jay and I wish I lived in the city still because I'd just go wherever he's bar tending to get my drinks. I am so particular about drinks because I only drink rum and bar tenders don't really know how to curated drinks with rum without having to be told what to put in it. But Jay delivered with no guidance and that warmed my heart. I got wings that were cooked to perfection, it was the right amount of sauce, it was fried perfect and the flavor was soooo good. Then I got gumbo which I love and usually can't have because kitchens have it pre-mixed. But not this chef I was able to get sausage removed and OMG the first bite was something else (in a good way) like why was the food sooo good . We ended up telling Beauty that the food was ridiculously good that the chef ended up coming out and we praised him because he needed to be acknowledged in case no one else had let him know. So everyone go see Mr. Willy

Yelp
Friendly waitresses. The food was good and ample serving size. If you get the gumbo, then you better like spicy foods.

Yelp
Based on the reviews, I was expecting the service to be bad, so if it had been, I would not have been disappointed. That wasn't the case but maybe because there was only 1 other table when we arrived on a Friday evening. We had a 6pm reservation. We were seated immediately, and since neither of us drinks sugary things (i.e., soda or lemonade), we just got water. Our waiter brought some over quickly and came back a third time to take our orders. We started with some fried green tomatoes ($15.99). I was very excited as this is probably one of my favorite dishes on planet Earth. Then, for my main entrée, I chose the shrimp etouffee with added crawfish (an extra $3.99 for the dish that was priced at $24.99), and my husband ordered the shrimp and grits ($24.99). The food didn't take long to come. Pretty much what I would consider normal wait time, and the spacing between the appetizer and the entrée were also perfectly spaced out. The fried green tomatoes came out looking excellent until you bite into it. They were quite bland unless you douse them in sauce. The sauce was excellent, but the dish overall was lackluster, in my opinion. The tomatoes should hold their own when it comes to flavors rather than be dependent upon accompaniments to taste good. Next up, my etouffee. Again, it's excellent sauce with the right amount of spices and flavors that I could literally add it to anything bland and make things halfway decent. However, the few pieces of shrimp I got were overcooked to the point of being tough and rubbery. The added crawfish seemed like an afterthought lump atop my dish. I wasn't quite sure what was all in that lump, but it was cooler than the rest of my entrée and smelled unpleasant. I've obviously had crawfish in the past, but they did not smell that way, nor did they come as an off-white lump. I ate 2 shrimp pieces, a bit of rice, and poked through the lumpy thing and gave up. I couldn't stomach the weird lump, and the rubbery shrimp and what was left were the rice and the sauce. While I was a fan of the sauce, I'm not really into eating just rice. My husband's shrimp and grits looked like my dish, but the sauce had a different flavor profile. His sauce was not spicy, but the shrimp were looking the same as mine. The grits were quite lumpy, but he's less picky and proceeded to eat his meal anyway. Our waiter asked if I wanted a to go box, but I respectfully declined. I was still hungry when we left, so we stopped by for some ice cream after to fill the void from our over-priced, subpar Friday night dinner. Sad to report that I am disappointed with our pricey experience. I would at least like to give 2 stars, though, for the sauces and the service.

Yelp
Let me start by saying this! I hate to leave bad reviews for restaurant, but this is by far one of the worst restaurants I have ever been into. Me and my wife literally waited 3hrs!!!!! For some food to go. Never in my life have I had to wait that long for some food. So I exercised my patience and waited. Got the food and it was terrible!! Omg !!I ordered the catfish, yams, macaroni on one order. Oxtails, cabbage ( out of greens ) and red beans and rice Catfish was dry Yams was ok but they definitely gave can vibes Macaroni was by far the worst The cabbage had flavor but they absolutely had no turkey in them as the menu stated Red beans and rice tasted like they had been burning at the bottom of the pot all day long. Oxtails lord help. They had absolutely no taste what so ever. They were hard and they did not cut any fat off of them. Just sitting in oxtail water. Peach cobbler tasted like nothing was measured and this was the first time they had made it. Overall I would never in my life return to here $130 wasted !!

Karen C.

Yelp
The only thing they served today was excuses. They were out of half of the menu. The portion of food I received was a child's portion and the green/cabbage was extremely salty, so much so that I didn't eat it. The service was mediocre but the bartender was entertaining. If you choose to visit this restaurant , eat first.

Yelp
Smothered pork chop one of the best I've ever had dressing and mac n cheese both also very good also had gator appetizer meat was extremely tender with good breading and sauce was good others had fried chicken and gumbo and both liked them

Yelp
I visited Creole & Soul for my birthday and loved the food and experience. I would have given a 5-star review if it wasn't for the fact that they did not yet have a formal drink menu in place as they had just recently gotten their liquor license. With a drink menu added, it will raise them to a 5-star review because the food was amazing (and very generous portions), the atmosphere was amazing in their gorgeous building beautifully designed dining room, and the service was excellent and super friendly. I ordered the fried catfish (not too fried ) and my wife had the shrimp and grits (see photos). Great restaurant! I want to return for their soul food Sunday menu.

Yelp
I decided to come here with my family based on reviews my friends sent me saying it was worth the try. I did make a reservation ahead of time, just to be safe and glad that I did. They weren't crowded at all when we first walked in but the spot is not as big as j thought it was. We were told at first that we needed our entire party there to be seated, but one of the servers Alphonso seated us after a few minutes. I also didn't realize they didn't serve alcohol, should've done my research a little more. I went ahead and ordered a salad appetizer because I wasn't sure how long the entire food would take. Our server Cortez (who we later found out was the owners son) was very hospitable and able to answer most of the questions we had. My only gripe was their menu said they do Saturday brunch, but apparently that day they didn't have the brunch menu. Not sure what that's about but I would've appreciated them leading with what they have/don't have when you first get seated. I was really set on ordering the red velvet waffles during brunch. I ended up ordering the smothered pork chop with asparagus and creole fries. Everyone's food at our table was pretty good, no complaints there. My cousins ordered an appetizer salad as well but that came out after her food. No major issue, but not sure why the salad took so long. Their website mentioned senior discount and when asked he didn't know about that, but he was nice enough to still give it to my aunt/mom. Overall, this spot was good, would love to see if they get a license to sell liquor in the future.

Yelp
After reading previous reviews I'm glad I went with my gut and was open-minded about trying this place. When I arrived I was able to find easily accessible street parking right on Manchester. When we initially walked in, the staff seemed to be in the back of the restaurant. I grabbed two menus and sat at a nearby table within a few minutes of me sitting down a gentleman said he would be right with us. Our server Cartez went above and beyond to check on us several times throughout our entire dinner. The staff that brought our food to the table were pleasant and made sure we didn't need any extra napkins, utensils, or condiments. I ordered the Cajun pasta and a small house salad with ranch and my date got the Cajun sandwich with fries. I was impressed with the seasoning and flavors. The inside of this place is beautiful and it's giving what it's supposed to give. I'm excited to come back to try more things on the menu and considering I work a few blocks over that will probably be very soon. Until the next time...

Robert G.

Yelp
Food was EXCELLENT! I had the smothered pork chop with dressing and red beans and rice. Others at the table had ox tail, crab cakes and chicken wings. Everybody loved the food. The dressing with the gravy was to die for. The only thing that keeps this review from being 5 out 5 is the service. Everyone is really nice, it's just that 3 out of 4 of us got served at once and our fourth person's food didn't arrive for quite awhile. It was kind of awkward getting someone to check on where it was. We saw other dishes coming out, so it seemed like our server just forgot to put in the fourth person's order.

Maureen M.

Yelp
We are one of two couples here for dinner. I ordered an appetizer of fried green tomatoes and the cajun pasta. My husband ordered a cajun chicken sandwich. My pasta was lukewarm, under-seasoned and some of the bowties were a bit undercooked. My husband's dinner arrived quite a bit later than mine and his order was wrong. When my fried green tomatoes arrived they were piping hot and quite good but they should have come much earlier. The white wine was served over ice because it's not kept chilled. My lukewarm pasta was $32.00 - definitely not worth the price. Even though they were aware of their mistakes there was no offer of a discount to make up for the delays and errors. One of the most expensive, not great meals I've had in a while. Too bad because we really wanted to like this place.

Yelp
We headed to Creole With a Splash Of Soul on a Friday night to celebrate an anniversary for our family. The restaurant looks great! We were seated right away and brought out menus and water. We were told about a couple of items not available that night and then were given a rundown of the most popular items on the menu. Two of our party ordered gumbo, one shrimp and grits, and I ordered the Creole Catfish upon recommendation. My only complaint about our evening was the amount of time it took for our food to come out, but I'm not changing my rating based on that because we were told that another chef was being trained. Everyone loved their food, and the consensus was that the Creole Catfish was the best! I'm not normally a catfish eater, but this was amazing. The sauce on it is something special.

Yelp
Food quality needs to improve. The place, barely have people there, but there was messy tables. The bathroom was disgusting.

Yelp
Hello Ronda. I come back to my reviews to add another one and see you replied and assumed you knew what I ordered. Yes, to be CLEAR, I paid that amount for that particular meal, I included the 2 sides that I got. $25 + $6 + $6= $37 plus tax. Do that twice. We spent $75 plus tax for two meals on a Sunday afternoon. I did say the food was good, but not for that price.... Not very professional to come on here and try to insinuate that I ordered other items. I DID NOT. That was the price. I really hope you'd know your own pricing.. If that's not the price then the server gouged us. Thanks.

Flakeisha C.

Yelp
The food was amazing and Jayla was so wonderful. She was just kind and knew the menu very well. I will be coming back very soon !
google avatar

Yelp
I had such high hopes but they did not materialize. I order the shrimp & grits, my husband got the grilled salmon. You could not see the grits on the plate with so much sauce, good thing because the grits could not have been cooked. The shrimp were large and there were large pieces of sausage but everything was swimming in a sauce that did nothing for me. Service was ok at best.

Yelp
I read reviews before coming to Creole with A Splash of Soul that were not good at all. BUT, I wanted to give them the benefit of doubt and not base my decision off the bad reviews. Oooo Chile, where do I begin. We arrived for our 7PM reservation at 6:58. The young lady is flipping through a steno pad looking confused saying she can't find our reservation. My friend pulls up the online confirmation for her and shows it to her. She was like oh so sorry sometimes we don't see the online reservations. She said it would be a 30-45 minute wait, but y'all there were literally plenty tables available. They then tell us that people make reservations online, but Google didn't notify them of the reservation. They were like we don't have any control over it. Then a man came out from the kitchen and was a little spicy with the way he was talking to my friend, but he never got loud. He almost made it seem like we where lying. He was like let me see the confirmation because we don't do online reservations. He stated several times that they don't have online booking and that Google just books reservations without their permission and they can't control that. So we waited a little longer then they sat us. They have the long beautiful bar with no alcohol, so we couldn't even order a drink while we waited. The waiter comes over she is extremely sweet. She does let us know at the beginning they are out of the cajun pasta, so it was clear. She suggested we order an appetizer because the entrees are cooked to order and would take 40 minutes to come out. We all ordered appetizers, and they took a little minute to come out, but I'm glad we ordered because the food took forever to come out. I'll get to that later. I ordered the grilled salmon with green beans and mashed potatoes. The waitress comes back almost 30 minutes later and apologized saying we just ran out of salmon. I didn't want anything else on the menu so I just settled with Chicken and Shrimp nachos. We waited a whole 1hr and 30 minutes for our food and everyone ate at different times. They would bring one plate out at a time. We literally was there until they closed eating while they cleaned up around us. I really hope the owner takes these reviews seriously (not just mine) and really reevaluate how they operate. I want them to win because they have a nice establishment, but it needs maybe more kitchen staff and an upgraded computer system to manage reservations online. So we are now down to taste of food. I ordered Fried Green Tomatoes as my appetizer and the flavor profile was missing. It tasted like plain flour. I was a little disappointed. In my opinion they are overpriced as well. The Chicken and Shrimp Nachos were FYE! I'm going to tell the truth now. It was delicious. I did enjoy it a lot. The creole sauce is literally poured on everything you eat. I don't think I like that. Everybody's food has that sauce on it. I'm sure there are other sauces that can be made. Now everyone food was hot (both temperature and spice level) I will say that. I'm not sure why on the receipt it gives the price if you pay with cash and a different price if you pay with card. Look if you are a business you should be able to afford the card processing fee. To me that is ghetto to give two different prices. I'm sorry the post was so long but I had to get it out. I probably won't be back but hopefully they get it together soon.

Yelp
Wow this place is amazing! So we got into town on a Saturday and did not have a reservation but they were not busy, it was around 5pm. There were two servers, a cook in the back and I really think there was only three people working because we waiting about 45 minutes until our food came out and that was just the appetizer, but the main course came out shortly after. We ordered the creole crab cakes for appetizers, the Gumbo and the creole catfish. All of it was delicious! The crab cakes were hot and fresh with their creole sauce over it that became more and more spicy as you ate it. That same sauce came on the catfish. The catfish was perfectly cooked over a bed of rice and so so hot and delicious! And the gumbo was amazing! Creamy, also spicy and just such a balance of all the meats.. definitely recommended this place to anyone who loves creole food! Also the Devore was absolutely beautiful and have a feeling of elegance and class, it just made you feel good to be there!

Yelp
The atmosphere was down to earth and welcoming. The bartender was nice and seemed to enjoy his job. Food was good this time around. Not great like I've had before. But still I'll give the food a 8/10. This was the first place I tried grits and they were awesome about 6 months ago, but this time around they were not made to the same standard. But I will keep going to support a great owner and restaurant.

Yelp
After not only reading about this place in the Riverfront Times but also seeing a friend post their dish from Creole w/ a Splash of Soul I knew I had to go check it out for myself. The ambience was very smooth and romantic. There was soft lighting and peaceful music being played in the background. The staff was very friendly and took great care of my party. I tried three of their dishes. Starting with the crab cakes that were very delicious. They didn't hold back with the size of them as they were very big and came with a tasty sauce on the side. The second dish I had was their gumbo which was served with a delicious house cream sauce. They added their own spin to it and it was also very good. And last but not least their Cajun pasta, in my opinion was my favorite out of the three. Served in a creamy pasta sauce with shrimp and chicken. It's always good to support BOB and also STL restaurants so be sure to check them out.

Yelp
I visited Creole with a splash of Soul while on a business trip with my wife and kid. We like supporting businesses like this and thought the food looked pretty good, being from the south. Their wait time for food is horrendous!! Borderline unacceptable in a neighborhood with other options. It took well over 1.5 hours to get our food. 1 hour for the appetizer. Just not what we expected. To be fair, our server did mention it takes 45 minutes for food to come out. We were prepared for that at the most. Not twice that time. Painful. All I'm saying is, don't be starving... As far as the food, I personally was not a fan. It's not traditional soul food or creole flavors. There also was a lack of seasoning for some of the items. Fried green tomatoes were just not there. They look good until you salt them. I'm not kidding when I say that was the first time I've ever used a salt shaker. The catfish had a creole sauce that was the same stuff from the fried green tomatoes. It was poured all over it. Ruined the meal and gave me an upset stomach shortly after. My wife's shrimp and grits tasted pretty good. Random notes. 15% gratuity added to all the checks, FYI. This doesn't sway my opinion of this place since it is what it is. Just a heads up for those coming to check it out. For those sensitive to strong smells, there were incense burning in the front that permeated the whole place. There was also a TV playing YouTube that was sort of loud and distracting to the table. Probably a good date place based on ambiance and wait time (good place for a LOOONG private convo) but be prepared to wait. I don't think they serve alcohol. Maybe eat a snack before coming too.

Yelp
The food was very Highly distasteful. My family is from Louisiana this was not whatever ever Cajun food. The fries was had no seasoning on it and the cheese was watery the sausage wasn't all the way cooked. The only thing that tastes good was THE GLASS OF WATER. (I am being funny ) The salmon had no taste.
google avatar

John P.

Yelp
Not a very welcoming atmosphere. Only offered water with our meal. Server was underage and could not take any alcohol orders but no one ever came over. Had to specifically ask for plates to share appetizers - which was truly the best part of the meal. Pork chop was essentially tasked like shake and bake. It did not come with the house sauce or peppers. Catfish sandwich was dry and came with no toppings. Someone came by and asked us about the food but quickly walked by before we could even say anything. Very disappointed.

Yelp
Pass by this place every time with the intention to stop. Well that day, I had the time. It wasn't a lot of traffic (two parties, one with 2 people and another with about 8-10). After a wait (I guess they were getting a lot of calls) I was sat down. The waiter was nice. I was looking at the menu while waiting so I knew already what I wanted. I ordered a Shrimp Po Boy with a side of Red beans and rice. The po boy had big shrimp, the bread was soft, and the sauce was a good flavor. Fries were hot and crispy. It def was a good meal for a late lunch/early dinner. But these red beans and rice tho...this right here was the bomb.com. I enjoyed this too much. I think I will order this every time I go here. Every. Time. As long as it's made this way. They told me to come on Sundays during noon. I assume it was for brunch or more lively experience. But, I enjoyed the slow and quiet traffic and service haha.

Yelp
Been waiting to try this place, I had friend detouring me from it due to the long wait times and food. I decided to do it anyways and what can I say, they were right. Our wait was long also. The food did not impress me they have this Cajun sauce they basically put on everything we had three separate dishes but truly it was the same dish and the creole sauce and just different protein. I ate nothing remarkable here. The nachos weren't good I didn't like the cheese sauce, then there was unmelted shredded cheese, that creole everything sauce was on it, not good. The Shrimp Etouffee was subpar and not made the traditional way they sautéed some yellow peppers used the everything sauce AGAIN and rice and shrimp. Mom got catfish and it was still same rice that Cajun sauce they have on everything just not wow factors at all. The Gumbo is not traditional gumbo it's shrimp, chicken, sliced sausage and that dang creamy Cajun sauce AGAIN. So far from the traditional NOLA gumbo. The silverware didn't match and was super light weight, spoons oversized it came off cheap. It reminded me of the dollar tree ones you can buy a bunch of for a bucks. I was handed a fork with a spot on it I told him, he said "oh yeah that doesn't come off I tried" and set it back down and was literally about to walk away. I said no I need a new one. He's wiping and drying the plates and silverware walking up to the tables. They're understaffed. I called prior, please have someone with customer service answering your phone, polite, cheerful, able to say, "Sorry, we don't take reservations but right now we have no wait and hope to see you soon. We usually get packed around 6." We watched three parties walk out the door because they weren't properly acknowledged. It's not hard.. Customer service, notice to detail, and restaurant etiquette is poor. If they fix that and go back to the original creole dishes and recipes they may have something but until then skip this it's overpriced and not worth it. I love to support my STL black businesses but from start to finish I was wishing I was elsewhere.

Prettygrl J.

Yelp
I'll start by saying the waiter who greeted us, young black tall man with afro, was so kind. The receipt said Cartez, I'm assuming that is his name. You can tell he's new to waiting, but he was really sweet. The ambiance was ok, I thought the pictures on the wall were a nice touch. The food was a complete disappointment and waste of money( I spent $58 dollars, not including tip, for food and drinks ). I hadn't eaten all day, drove 2 hours to this place, because I wanted to stop by for some soul food. I was better off going to Popeyes. My fiancé ordered the fried green tomatoes and said they were really good. $15 for five slices of fries tomatoes is ridiculous. I ordered the fried chicken wing appetizer with a side of mashed potatoes and the chicken was old and dry. The size of the wings were as if a party wing had a baby. They were tiny struggle wings. The mashed potatoes tasted great, very flavorful!!! The chicken wings, however, had clearly been sitting out, refried, and served to me because the meat was dry, greasy, and chewy. The chicken had no seasoning to be found, not even salt! Another reason why I was certain it was refried is because I placed the order, my drink was brought to the table, I went to wash my hands and by the time I came back my food (10 pcs wings) was at the table. I should've sent it back immediately but like I mentioned I was really hungry and hadn't eaten all day. I ate 4 wings, some mashed potatoes and decided to ask for a to go box and threw the food away when I got home because I didn't want to throw it away in front of staff. When I was scooping out the mashed potatoes to put into the to go box, I noticed a piece of hair inside the potatoes. There was no sense in even bringing it to the restaurant's attention because I had already paid for the meal, didn't feel like dealing with with the drama of having to talk to the manager or process a refund, and I had a 2 hour drive to get back to my destination. I didn't have enough time to switch out my order or wait for my food to be remade. I guess I'll consider that may contribution to St. Louis since I have no intentions on ever going back. My word of advice for this Black owned business is to do better. You are being cheap, greedy and serving your own community dry/ old food. It doesn't matter if it happened just one time or all the time, it's wrong especially for the amount that I spent. Everyone knows soul food is expensive and to cheat people out of an experience and money is not right. There aren't that many Black owned businesses and your reputation is everything, so please get it together. Please business owner do not come for me because I see you like to respond to customers. This is a light review compared to what I could've said.

Yelp
Was super excited to try this place and unfortunately left here disappointed. Husband and I went here for dinner Saturday night. We tried to order the jalapeño poppers but they said they were sold out. We then tried to order the gator bites but those too were sold out. Asked the waitress for what she recommended, she recommended the crab cakes, which were good and flavorful but unfortunately not as warm as they should be. For our main courses, I ordered the shrimp and grits. The presentation was good but sadly the flavor was lacking and it needed more spice. Husband said the chicken sandwich was good, but not what he would expect from a creole restaurant. He also said the fries were not very good. Service was mediocre. The waitress was nice but did not check on us after we got our meal. I think a little bit of hot sauce would have helped, but she did not come back to the table to ask us how the food was. Due to lack of check in, husband got up and got his own ketchup. This place is new, so I am hoping they will get their stuff together and make some improvements! I would really like them to succeed. One positive I will give them is that they have good outdoor signs, which makes it super easy to find this place!

Yelp
I've traveled and eaten in 25 different countries. This was by far the #1 dinner I've ever had. Usually the first bite is always great but it tapers off the more you eat. This was Seriously good until the last bite. I had the Shrimp and Grits and another friend had catfish with grits. They threw in a peach cobbler to try and it was the best ever. I'm not one to leave a review normally but this was too amazing. Chef Willie made the food and Chef Mike made the peach cobbler. 10/10 highly recommend.

Yelp
I have been here three times over the years and the food is always delicious. The problem is the service. There is only ever one server and one cook. This leads to waiting 1.5 hours for our food to arrive (including salads). The first time we had no trouble but the two times after have been awful. One time the AC was broken, one time the fridge was broken and all they had were a few beers. They also do not have a soda machine so no free refills. I know it is hard running a restaurant but I really hope this place gets it together; I cannot emphasize enough how good the food is.

Yelp
Quick review: The food is flavorful and delicious. The ambiance is grown and sexy. The wait is horrible. The food takes too long to get. I only recommend if you're looking for good food and want to get out the house for 3 hours and you have a back up just in case they close early. Full review: I called to place a to go order Thursday 8:13pm. It took 6-7 mins to place my order because I had to wait until the lady who answered the phone helped a few walk ins before taking my card number. (Yes, you have to pay over the phone for to go orders, no biggie). I was told 30-35 minutes. We ordered Creole Catfish with grits, a creole chicken sandwich and creole fries (only because I was told fries didn't come with the sandwich but it did.) My son and I get to the restaurant about 8:45pm and the door was locked. The lady inside is informing me they are closed. The door says 10pm. She eventually opens the door after I tell her I have a to go order. She tells me they are working on our food and it will be about 15 more mins. We didn't get our food until 9:40pm. I would've asked for a refund but every 15 minutes I was told, they are working on it and I assumed at some point it would come out. Also, by the time I would get a refund and find somewhere else to eat I figured I might as well wait. I understand cook to order but 1 hour and 20 mins is too long. My son said it was the best sandwich he ever had so it's unfortunate we can't go back.

Yelp
I went around the time it first opened up. The food was good. The catfish was cooked to perfection. The breading wasn't too much or too little just right. The breading also had decent seasoning. The creole sauce was good. I might have been expecting a different flavor just me being picky but it was good. I asked for extra because it needed more for every bite of the fish and rice. Server gave me more no problem. Speaking of the service, The server was amazing! Tended to our every need. Was very engaging. Very memorable! I'd come back for him alone! However, the food was not that mind blowing for me to rate 5 stars. So I gave 4 because I ate all of my food and had a great time.

Yelp
Had dinner there last week and truly enjoyed it. The staff was friendly and the space was beautiful. I had the Shrimp plate with Fries, it was delicious. A few friends had the Fried Chicken plate with Fries plate which also looked really good. Looking forward to returning to try some other things on the menu!

Yelp
Went on 11/15 for dinner. Arrived about 5:00. The waiter was a nice young lady but she was not familiar with the menu. Ordered the nachos and they were great. The catfish and mashed potatoes were good as well. The only I did not like was the over abundance of sauce. The sauce was tasty but way too much.

Yelp
I was craving Cajun food one day and Creole with a splash of soul popped up. I ordered the catfish creole and it absolutely satisfied my craving. However, I am not giving it a 5 due to how slow everything was. The food took forever to come out and the waitress was barely around. I saw workers just standing around while we were waiting for our food. Try this place out if you're not in a rush.

Yelp
Outstanding service, extremely personable staff with great food and drinks, music, ambiance and an overall great experience! HIGHLY recommend this spot. Come to stay for a bit with your special someone or friends. Food is cooked to order and SOOOOO worth the wait! Time flies when you're having fun!

Yelp
Looked this place up since we are from out of town. Picked up food to go. The restaurant had a great vibe. Super relaxing, great music, friendly staff. Ordered the shrimp étouffée and it was amazing. If we lived in the area this would be a weekly spot for us.

Yelp
Hi Ronda. I sincerely would like to know "Where's the lie"? The wait time? The service? The food? The setting? This was a very honest review. These are hard times for everyone. I want to support black businesses and I want to see them stay open. So if you can take any constructive criticism from my review, then please do so. Your patrons work very hard for their money and I can only speak for myself, and say that I am very picky when it comes to choosing a place to go out to eat. My first priority is black owned businesses. I don't want to be taken advantage of and as a customer, I want to be respected for my time and my money that I chose to spend in your restaurant. I think you would've done better to not respond at all as opposed to being so defensive.

Yelp
My friend and I were looking for a place to celebrate her birthday so we came here. We both ordered the Creole catfish, which came with a very light and slightly spicy sauce. It was pretty tasty. She ordered a side of garlic mashed potatoes which were good and I ordered the crab cakes. Wasn't that fond of the texture. Our waiter Derek was really nice and helpful. We celebrated her birthday with a slice of rich cheesecake at the end. The ambience is very warm and sultry, although they could probably do with a different type of music other than looped jazz. I hope to be back for Soulfood Sunday!

Yelp
This was so disappointing. We brought a group of people here in the hopes of supporting a local Black owned business. When we arrived they would not allow us to sit until our full party was there even though the restaurant was empty. When we were finally allowed to sit we ordered and waited over an hour for our food. The food arrived at the table undercooked - everyone who ordered a shrimp dish was served raw shrimp. To make matters worse when one person sent their raw shrimp etoufee back it was returned piping hot with completely raw shrimp. Finally we were charged 20% gratuity even though the menu states it was a standard 15%. This experienced totaled three hours and was so disappointing. The food was good but everything else left much to be desired. To make matters worse they charge for lemonade and don't allow refills and I saw them pouring it out the ALDIs bottle.

Yelp
Phenomenal!!! Wanted to try a new place for my birthday lunch, this lovely little gem did not disappoint. The creole fries, O. M. G. this is the only way fries should be served. My crab cakes, absolutely perfect, and that sauce!! You will see reviews indicating there is a wait, the wait was typical to any restaurant that isn't mass producing your food but cooking to order. Would have happily waited longer for that meal! We cannot wait to go back, might even go back this weekend

Yelp
Fuck this place. They had me waiting over an hour for my order just to cancel. I will never go back.

Yelp
My cousin came in town to celebrate her birthday with family and friends. She called weekly a month in advance to ask them if they could accommodate a big party. She left voicemails and no response. When she finally got a hold of someone a week before she came, she never got an answer only that they would try. The restaurant was pretty empty when I arrived at 5:20. I explained we had about 20 people coming, but to not treat us as a party of 20. We would trickle in and out, so serve everyone as they come in like a normal guest. Our waiter understood, but another waiter and the chef did not. My cousin and her husband arrived 15 minutes later for five of us to be seated. We placed our order at 6:45 (1 hour 25 minutes later) after only receiving one glass of water. The restaurant waiter did not know anything like it was his first day but kept apologizing WHILE forgetting small request like refilling cups of water. As guests entered the restaurant, the waiter yelled across the dining room that the wait was at least an hour and they could decide if they wanted to leave or not but to grab a menu and sit where they wanted. After 2 hours of waiting the waiter asked guests, "who order the creole cab?" Nobody responded. The chef came to our party (about 15 people at this point) and had a WHOLE ENTIRE ATTITUDE with us after WE WAITED 2 HOURS FOR FOOD to only get a glass of water. She brought creole catfish, not creole cab. So the waiter didn't even know what he was serving. After 3 hours of waiting for food, we had to leave to go to another event. About 5 people out of our party received food. I received ONE glass of water the ENTIRE 3 hours. This was the ABSOLUTE WORST restaurant experience I've ever experienced in my entire life. ABSOLUTELY INEXCUSABLE AND NO APOLOGY FROM THE CHEF, who appeared to be the owner. From the reviews, she needs to shut down and sell plates out of her home cause she obviously has no restaurant experience starting with etiquette.

Yelp
I should've known better but was being hard headed. To me the food looks good but baby when I tell you it lacks everything. The seasonings or lack there of is the issue. My fried tomato's were soggy and not made fresh. I did like the po boy but my fries were hard. How hard is it to just make good food? GEESH ‍

Yelp
The food was salty (namely the chicken wings), the wait was horrendous just about over an hour before appetizers were served, other parties (at least 2 couples and a group of ladies) left before being served, a person sent her food back after waiting a long time (she definitely looked disappointed) and refused to order anything else. A young man working there kept checking on us and sharing in our sentiments that the food "still hasn't come yet". The ambiance was okay, but the service and food were not worth $30 per plate. I do not personally recommend this establishment because from following the reviews through social media, it's not likely things have changed much.

Yelp
It's been quite a while since we dined at this establishment. My recollection is the food was pretty good. However we literally waited hours to have a simple lunch on a weekend and the place was not really that crowded. I know it's the middle of a pandemic, and it's hard to get staff. But this was really just intolerable and is the most memorable thing about the experience unfortunately. And I also seem to recall that they had recently opened. This, in addition to the pandemic, could account for our experience. Hopefully things have improved. Parking is somewhat limited on the streets in the area. The staff was attentive, but the kitchen was incredibly slow. I do recall the ambience and decorations were comfortable in any older structure.

Yelp
My daughter recommended this place on my visit. I must say that I really enjoyed it. The ambiance was very warm and welcoming. The service was awesome. The owner even came over to speak to us which I thought was super sweet. The food was yummy! Very seasoned and well portioned. The next time I will come on a Sunday for the soul food brunch.
