Google
Nice Breton style restaurant, with delicios food and cosy interior. Evrything was fresh and tasty! The staff is kind and thoughtful.

A crêpe (plain white flower) or galette breton (also buckwheat) to die for! Thin, crispy and fondant at the same time and good quality ingredients. The 'Soubise' with ham, cheese, egg and onions is great. Onions not to heavy in cream. Still subtle enough not to overpower the rest of the flavours. A big jug of cider on the side and maybe a small salad. In combination with the very friendly service in this cosy place you consider yourself in pancake heaven!

The crepes I ordered weren’t my favorite and a bit overpriced. Unless you’re really craving a savory crepe, you’re better off ordering from one of the touristy shops by the chateau as they have sweet/fruity ones as well. Also bear in mind the owner’s attitude towards foreigners and inseaders - make a reservation in advance.

Saw other reviews regarding owner’s attitude towards non french speaker thus share my experience here. Went there two times. First time by myself, many free tables during weekday lunch hour, still within their opening hour (according to Google) but they didn’t let me in because they said will close soon (understandable? If it’s a French style, not just happened in this restaurant?—at least I hope so). Next time I went earlier, and with a French speaker, no reservation, got a table. If just talk about the food: Food is great! I love the salad. Might be the best salad in this town. Crepe is also amazing, so many flavours! They have apple cider served in jars, very cute!

Highly recommend! The crepe tastes delicious. After visiting Château de Fontainebleau can have lunch in this restaurant and stroll around the town.

Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Came on a weekday evening with friends and were served immediately. The menus are available in English and French, and the friendly servers are happy to answer any questions. The crepes are very well priced, and we each had 2 (one savoury and one for dessert). The scallop crepe/galette was the perfectly rich and salty - the sauce was decadent and paired well with fresh mushrooms and three generously sized scallops. For dessert, I tried the raspberry lemon - the lemon curd is quite tart but was alright when eaten with the sweet raspberry and whipped cream. Overall, and excellent experience - great for a casual dinner with friends or a cute date!

Poor experience with this establishment. We had an impression that the female staff was racist for refusing to serve us. This impression was immediately confirmed by reading past reviews where other foreigners experienced the same poor treatment. Apparently this treatment is not just an isolated case, but something many foreigners have experienced. Leaving this bad review to let the owner reflect on their racist behavior. Update: Their response below shows the aggressive nature of the owner. This just confirms the poor treatment you can expect from this place.

Reservations are highly recommended! Do not judge the cosiness of the restaurant and that they will accommodate walk-ins because I have been turned away twice without reservations. They have an extensive menu for savoury crepes and the crepe is filling without burning a big hole in your pocket. Will recommend one savoury crepe per diner and then order sweet crepes for sharing as dessert. They are also known for the in-house cider, which is served using tea cups. Super recommended!

Yelp
A little piece of Brittany in Fontainebleau Really good crepes, we tried the smoked salmon one, scallops/ cream and the chicken/cream. I recommend all three !! À little family restaurant worth to try

Yelp
L'Hirondelle gets four stars for food quality alone. We walked in on a Friday night without a reservation. The first thing I noticed was the overwhelming smell of cat food. The second thing I noticed was how cute and homey the restaurant was. I'm fairly certain that's because people live here. There was a cute dog hanging out by the stairs. The server wasn't sure if she could squeeze us in but ultimately said there was an empty table upstairs. When we got upstairs, she seated us at one of six empty tables. There were literally no other people up there the entire time we were in the restaurant. There was a cat, though, hence the cat food smell. The cat was enjoying its life, hopping from table to table, which has to be some kind of health code violation. The server sat us in a weird corner, so we moved to a more inviting table near the window and heater. When she came back up to take our orders, she was annoyed that we had moved and said the table we picked "isn't for guests." This seemed weird to us, since it was clearly the most desirable table on that floor. We offered to move, but she let us stay. The cat had been creeping over my shoulder, literally breathing down my neck from an inch away, and thankfully, the waitress put her in a different room. After all these negatives, I still have to give it four stars, because the crepes were absolutely delicious. I had the paysanne, a very hearty, flavorful vegetarian crepe with potatoes, tomatoes, and egg in it. It was beautifully presented as well. For dessert, I had the fried pear crepe with white chocolate ice cream, and it was also delicious. My friend had the smoked salmon and spinach crepe, which looked disgusting, and he didn't seem to enjoy it. Overall, the experience was enjoyable and fun, so I'd definitely go back.

Yelp
Get any scallop crepe! Had the namesake (hirondelle) crepe and it was some of the most amazing scallops I've ever had. We also tried something else with mushrooms and bacon and really regretted it because it pales in comparison to the scallops. It is located right next to a self service laundry but has some odd hours that are not entirely consistent with its stated hours. However, it may be due to the fact that we were in town during a holiday. The folks there don't speak very much English and they seemed not happy with us when the misunderstood and thought we wanted to order just one crepe. However, the delicious food more than makes up for the service.

Yelp
This is hands-down my favorite restaurant in Fontainebleau. Definitely don't miss it. It's small so I recommend arriving early and showing up with no more than 4 people unless you've made a reservation in advance. The owner frequently turns people away, especially if you arrive in the last hour before closing or are with a larger group. For the savory crepes, it's hard to go wrong, but the ones with Scallops (or 'outbreaks' as the English version of the menu bizarrely call them) The St Jacques, the one with scallops, bacon and mushrooms are a personal favorite. For dessert crepes, I'd recommend ordering one for every two people in your group. Anything with chocolate is great, and the rum one is cool because the owner will set it on fire in front of your eyes (also quite tasty but strong alcohol flavor)! As this is a French restaurant, the service is slow and the owner can sometimes come off as rude to the non-initiated. Just be nice, and patient. Expect it to take 2 hours, and you'll enjoy yourself.

Yelp
One of the best crepes I have ever had. We sauntered in here as everything else was closed on a Sunday evening. The crepes turned out to be exceptional! Would definitely visit again if in the area again.

Yelp
Finally got a chance to sit in after making a reservation one day before. I'm not sure whether they accept the walk-in customers or not. Frankly speaking, the crepe with scallop is really delicious. The boss here is a French lady who can speak a bit English and you shall expect more on the food only.

Yelp
Horrible service and extremely rude owner! The food is okay with medium-low quality. The price is high compared to an average crepe! I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone...

Yelp
As an earlier review said, this place has a great selection of sweet crepes and savory galettes. Portions are quite generous, prices are low, and the staff are friendly. This restaurant has an upstairs room in addition to the ground floor space that has party potential.

Yelp
Large variety of galettes/crepes, and service is prompt and polite. Outdoor seating (on the street) is available during good weather.
