Had my very senior birthday lunch here with another senior friend. Food was again beyond comparison. Really should be Michelin starred. It was absolutely divine, every mouthful. Service was impeccable. The restaurant was also filled with families children all ages. So well behaved too. Parents DO make a difference. And I was treated to a wonderful birthday cake on behalf of the hotel. Just everything was so good. Cannot fault this restaurant. And it was price friendly too. So blessed to have this on my doorstep.

We booked for a 3 night stay on the 3 for 2 autumn offer which is good value. Unfortunately, our stay wasn't without issues. It felt quite obvious that the hotel was understaffed. Long waits for tea and coffee at breakfast as well as a staff shortage in the restaurant. From other reviews I wonder if this is problem for the hotel? The Terrace restaurant is very expensive. They price the food at 4/5 star prices but the experience isn't up to that. It's family friendly, no problem with that, we were there with the family, but to charge those prices you'd expect the environment and atmosphere to be better than, 'school canteen'. The burger is a massive disappointment, no where near what a £22 burger should be. Chips were nice. The staff are all working flat out and did a great job but there's just not enough of them. The breakfast, we felt, wasn't quite as good as in previous years and with the waiting staff charging about to help everyone it felt frantic, noisy and slightly chaotic. Overall, we enjoyed our break. The pool is good and as I say the staff are all really great, just stretched.

**Not safe for children** We visited Action Glen on 15th Oct during our family holiday at Crieff Hydro. At the end of the final long zip line of the Aloft Tree Top Adventure, my 7-year-old son was unable to unclip and slipped back down onto the wire while I was already on it. We collided at speed, and while we were both still stuck on the wire, another child was sent down and also collided with us. There were no staff at the end of the zip line to control spacing or assist. We were left suspended, shouting for help, until another parent went to find a member of staff. I had to request first aid myself after my son sustained facial and chest injuries. I left my details immediately after the incident, followed up by email that day and by phone the next day. When the manager got in contact he apologised, but I was offered a free return visit to the activity centre rather than a proper safety review. I requested a written follow-up and investigation on 15 October, and followed up via email again on the 26th October but have had no formal response or contact since, not from the activity team, the hotel, or their Health & Safety Manager. This was a serious lapse in safety and duty of care at what is marketed as a family-friendly, higher-end resort. My son’s lasting memory of the holiday is that he “didn’t feel safe,” and it "was the worst holiday ever" which says everything. An avoidable accident with a really disappointing response (or lack of) from the hotel. I hope this review prompts management to take guest safety and aftercare far more seriously.

Nice few nights away for some rest & relaxation. Check-in was quick & easy, & room was clean & comfy. Took a while to familiarise myself with the layout of the hotel as the map provided was confusing & the app that is recommended kept glitching.||Lots of lovely walks in the grounds. Highly recommend the Victorian Baths, a nice facility to unwind in.||Breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice. ||Set in a nice location with lovely views & only a 10-15 minute walk in to the centre of Crieff.

Wonderful place, and the attention from staff is what is needed. Why no 5 star, we'll its a bit dated in decore and there was lack of attention to cleanliness in the bathroom of our room, just need to make sure the edges are clean. We had a fire alarm on the day of our arrival and some of the staff were outside on mobile phones giving no attention to patreons, not what you would expect in those circumstances. The alarm was due to a shower steam trigger, but all the same possibly something to look at. Lovely experience all the same .

Well presented hotel. I stayed in the self catering lodges, really cozy and quiet. Local walks are worth exploring & beautiful on a sunny day. I walked the blue route which took 1.5 hours. The food at the Terrace inside the hydro is delicious, massive portions to fill you up. The estate is a great place to relax or take part in some activities.

We visited Crieff Hydro yesterday to celebrate my gran’s 80th birthday, hoping for a joyful afternoon. Instead, we were met with disorganisation, poor service, and a complete lack of care that ruined what should have been a special occasion.||Despite many empty tables, we queued for 10 minutes to be seated. We were then crammed into a table with chairs jammed so tightly no one could pass, forcing us to relocate ourselves. The service that followed was chaotic and dismissive.||We ordered drinks including a Pepsi Max, pornstar martini, two regular margaritas, and a Bloody Mary. The waitress seemed baffled by our request, despite the ingredients being clearly available. She returned 15 minutes later confirming they could make them, but placed a jug of water on the table—without any glasses.||The Pepsi Max arrived flat. When we returned it, we were told the tap was broken—yet they continued serving from it. We asked again for water glasses and were given only three for five people, with a shrug and “is that enough?”||The Bloody Mary took over an hour to arrive. In the meantime, we received drinks we hadn’t ordered, and those we did were served with liquid dripping down the sides. We had to order a second round just so my gran wouldn’t be drinking alone.||They removed the first round from the bill, but that gesture didn’t come close to compensating for the stress and disappointment.||Worse still, we witnessed similar treatment at surrounding tables:||• An elderly woman had her scone slammed down, which slid off the plate. The waitress shoved it back on with her bare hand. Her coffee was served spilling over the sides, and she was charged full price.|• A nearby couple waited over 30 minutes for a Bloody Mary—just like us.|• A group of four elderly guests had their coffees taken away twice after they’d started drinking because staff couldn’t identify which had oat milk.|• Tables were left dirty and cluttered for hours, with no effort to clean between guests.|||This wasn’t just a one-off mistake—it was a pattern of neglect and poor training. Crieff Hydro’s Garden Room failed on every front: hospitality, hygiene, and basic respect. I would strongly advise others to avoid this venue, especially if you’re planning a celebration or hoping for a dignified experience.

We visited with our three children (ages 6, 8 and 10). The family apartment was perfect and gave proper separation between our room and theirs. They loved the breakfast. We found staff friendly and helpful. Loads for the kids to do.

Yelp
Great hotel with a staff motivated to ensure you have everything you need. Beautiful rooms and grounds. Food is great and service top notch. There is so much to do here I am disappointed we only get to stay a night. Would love to return.

Yelp
Do you sometimes feel that the city is getting too much and you need some place to relax? Then you are at the right place at Crieff Hydro Hotel (about an hour from Edinburgh) I have been going there for years and I always found that the staff was very friendly. The rooms got renovated over the years and the interior definitely improved. To get a better room it always helps to complain, if not happy with things. For example we booked a room with a bath and we got a shower only. After complaining we got a new room but the heating did not work properly. Well, we could not turn it off, so we slept in a Sauna for a night! The next morning, after complaining again, we moved to a different room, and this time around we got one of the best rooms in the house. The Honeymoon suite with its own Jacuzzi! How romantic, or not! Crieff Hydro always has some special offers on: Dinner, Bed and Breakfast for very good pricing. The food is good enough for the price you pay, if not better. I like and enjoy the indoor and outdoor activities: Golf, Quad bikes, 4x4, swimming pools, Sauna, Riding.....and many more. A Fun place to be at any time of the year. It never gets boring. And my favourite place is the Winter garden where I can enjoy my afternoon tea! Hope you enjoy it too!

Yelp
I have been to Crieff Hydro many times before but for days to the activity centre to hire segways & quad bikes. I have stayed in the cabins for a hen party week but this was my first stay actually in the hotel. We got a great deal with itison for an overnight stay plus use of the Victorian spa and a bottle of wine. Great value. The hotel has had a boutique hotel style make over and I think they have a great mix of taste and opulence. It feels special but warm and friendly at the same time. Free wifi in the room - always good A choice of still or sparkling bottles of water in the room complimentary. Really decent bathrooms and the toiletries were from "The white company" which isn't bad at all. There was a choice of restaurant for dinner, we opted for the brasserie which is less formal and had two courses for £20 a head. Plenty of options and decent food. The Victorian Spa was very relaxing and they provide cordials & tea or coffee and fruit along with magazines and day beds to chill out on. You can drive there in under 90 minutes from Edinburgh and feel like you have really had a break away to re-charge your batteries. Keep up the good work guys!

Yelp
We came here for a Thursday/Friday stay with the kids and it was pretty good all round. Breakfast was good but dinner......I'd agree with a couple of the other reviewers and say it's not as good as it should be. We had a couple of problems with our bill which were sorted quickly and without any fuss which was good. The self catering challets look like a good option and have great views. There's plenty to do outdoors from some easy hill walks to pony treking to bike and quad bike hire and of course indoors there's a decent sized pool and a Spa too.

Yelp
I've paid a few visits to Crieff Hydro over the years but never had the chance to stay the night. They've got so many activities on offer that it would take longer than a weekend to take advantage of them all, but everything we saw was very well done. We had an all-inclusive deal for dinner, bed and breakfast - keep an eye open for special deals around the time you'd like to visit. Food was very well prepared and really tasty - from the Brasserie dinner to the massive breakfast, plenty there for vegetarians and omnivores. I had a lamb tagging with cous cous on the Friday night and was almost defeated by the quantity - really enjoyed it. The bedroom was of a decent size and the bed pretty massive (two singles pushed together, but you wouldn't know it). Check-out is a very civilised 11am, so no rush to clear out. ...and you can carry on enjoying the facilities long after check-out. We spent about four hours in the Victorian Spa, with its pool, steam room, sauna and so on. A very relaxing place to be and a great way to end our stay.

Yelp
Stayed here at the weekend and had a wonderful time with the family. Stayed in the lodges(cosey cottages) however unlike last time it was only 2 minutes from the hotel. We stayed before and it was a good 20 minutes walk last time to the hotel. I will be honest it was not the cleanest accommodation we have stayed in , the location made up for it. The weather was great so did lots of the outdoor activities which kept the kids busy. we did comment that we had not used a lot of the indoor facilities due to the weather being so good. Overall a good hotel for catering for families.
