I spent 3 nights at the Crinan hotel. I came up especially to experience the Corryvreckan whirlpool. Upon arrival I was met by some charming hotel staff and given the key to my room. There was a lovely carved wooden fish tied to the key which was fun. I took the lift to my room. I was grateful that there was a lift. My room was bigger than expected so I went to investigate and found that I’d received a free upgrade because the hotel was quiet. I thanked the manager and had a refreshing J20 at the bar. The hotel is clean and the staff do an excellent job. The hotel is tired in its decor, but it’s obvious that it would require a small fortune to be spent on it. But don’t let that put you off. The beds are fresh and the cotton crisp and spotless, the shower is powerful and they offer delicious smelling body wash and shampoo. The food is fresh, delicious and well presented and the service is warm, unique and professional. The hotel is full of wonderful things to look at, there are paintings by Frances MacDonald on the walls and they are brilliant. I especially liked the ones of Iona. But there are other artists work about the hotel too. All in all, I adored the Crinan hotel and think the team do an excellent job. I’d definitely return and recommend their services. Thanks team Crinan, you were great 😊

This is our second visit to the Crinan hotel for my husband to go deer stalking. On arrival we were very warmly greeted by a delightful guy called Eiden (unsure of correct spelling) who actually remembered our visit two years ago. We had an excellent, very large room overlooking the sea with a super-kingsize bed and beautiful bed linen. The room was extremely warm; which was a great plus due to the cold weather we experienced. Dinner in the seafood restaurant is outstanding and offers an excellent menu of many choices. Breakfast served in the dining room was also excellent and plentiful. We had the great pleasure of meeting Mrs Ryan, the owner of the hotel, who was equally welcoming and friendly and who is a very talented artist with many of her paintings shown around the hotel. The coffee shop is also a ‘must’ to visit, offering home made cakes etc.|We’re so looking forward to returning to the Crinan Hotel next year and there is only one word to describe The Crinan as “Faultless “.

This place is a rare gem. If you want marble and shiny chrome, it is not the place for you. It is a charming, family run hotel, with staff who really look after you. It is quirky and homely, stylishly decorated by Frances Macdonald, the owner, with many of her paintings on the walls. The food is wonderful - freshly landed seafood. The best oysters my husband has ever tasted. All this plus stunning views. We stay there whenever we go to Scotland.

Don’t get put off by the roads to get here. It’s in an idyllic location right next to the loch. Great views. I really love the seafood theme in the room keys!! Rooom 21 was great with views of the loch. They’ve good parking. Rooms are clean, bathrooms are neat. Breakfast service is excellent and delicious menu. The presentation of the fruit platter is exquisite. Update: my second visit. Absolutely brilliant room 21, warm , spacious and has a great view of the loch from the window. The bed was extremely comfy and fantastic choice of pillows. Breakfast as ever brilliant!

The hotel is owned by Frances MacDonald the artist, who engages delightfully with the guests, and makes it feel as though you are staying with ‘the family’. All the rooms are individually furnished including her works of art; the food is wonderful, featuring much of the local seafood. The view over the sound is beautiful, and the proximity of the hotel to Crinan basin and sea lock means there is plenty activity to watch.|A very interesting and relaxing place to spend a few days.

We had a wonderful 2 nights at the Crinan Hotel in September, our first visit here. ||Firstly, I would like to say that it is the staff that really make this hotel wonderful, everyone was so welcoming and friendly from the moment we arrived, and the customer service here was wonderful throughout, with the hotel staff also working in the restaurants and bar as well as at Reception.||The hotel is in an amazing setting with wonderful views, we had a lovely balcony room and were very lucky to have great weather while we were there!|The hotel itself is lovely, traditional and comfortable, lovely clean rooms and comfortable beds. Some of the taps and radiators in the room were a bit creaky due to this being an old building, but we just thought it added to the charm of the place!||The location is great for walkers as you are right on the end of the Canal paths and can walk for miles along the very well kept towpaths, and further a long the route there are lots of places to park and walk further in the other direction, heading back towards the main 'A' road heading up to Oban and back southwards.||The lovely breakfast is served in the main dining room which has wonderful views out to sea, and the lunch menu can be taken in either the Seafood bar attached to the hotel, or in the small pub next to the Seafood bar (also part of the hotel with a separate entrance), both with great views over the Crinan canal and locks. The dinner menu is available to guests in both the main dining room and the Seafood bar. The menus are great with lots of choice of local seafood and fish included, very reasonably priced and also a very extensive wine list is available. We dined in the Seafood bar most nights and found it to be lovely and cosy.||The hotel also has a couple of cosy lounge areas for relaxing and reading, and a small shop selling local goods and gifts, as well as artwork by the owner of the hotel, and a small gallery area on the 3rd floor of the hotel exhibiting further works by the owner and family.||We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in such a unique place and in such a lovely, well-run hotel, and will definitely be back for a return visit. Thank you to everyone at the Crinan hotel for making our stay so good!

Called in for a couple of drinks while staying at Lock number 10 in our motorhome, so couldn't comment on the rooms or food, bug yhe menu looked delicious. Very cosy bar and the restaurant looked stylish and comfortable. Lovely views of the Crinan canal. A warm welcome from the friendly staff, we will definitely visit again and would highly recommend the Crinan Hotel.

Stopped for here for lunch. The soup and Cullen Skink were excellent. Great location with sea and lock views. The gents toilet is in need of refurbishment.

Yelp
To be frank, this is one of my favorite places on earth. Nick and his family are great hosts, and the food and atmosphere are wonderful. I haven't been there now in some time, but deeply miss the place and fantastic views of the Lock and the surrounding Argyll countryside. Check it out, you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
One of the most charming places to ever stay. A lovely family owns this hotel and they've created an extremely cozy environment, not to mention there are beautiful views from every angle of this hotel. One of the owners, Frances, is also a beautiful artist and creates gorgeous paintings, you will NEED to check them out when visiting. She also has a beautiful path behind the hotel that will lead you up to her garden that she maintains herself. It's so fun that this hotel has a bar downstairs and a restaurant at the other end, I even believe there is an ice cream shop a few steps away outside. Everything you need is here for a relaxing getaway. We cannot wait to go back someday.
