Crisol Mesón del Cid

I hiked the Camino and stayed at over 21 places, including bed-and-breakfast known as Albergue. I have not one complaint about any other accommodation. I purchased the suite to splurge and have a quiet room, also I planned an extra night to rest up since I was walking 20 miles/day. But when I went to bed the air conditioner didn't work and it was 90+ degrees out so the room was so hot. I called down and was told there was no one to help me until the morning. The maintenance guy the next morning told me my room was too big for the air, conditioner unit- but that the air worked (yet there was only a fan from the AC unit blowing air- it was NOT cold- only air blowing) and my room was warm he did agree. They offered to move me to a smaller room on a low level but I would not know if the AC was any better and they would not offer me any credit from the suite and plus it was in a noisy part of hotel and I already needed AirPods to cancel out noise at night yet I was on the top floor. I told my credit card company about all this and somehow I got my money back but then the next thing I knew the hotel provided a booking receipt and I was recharged. The staff also washed my linen the first morning (even though I said not to) and lost my AirPods- and then when they couldn't find them the manager told me I probably lost them on the street and that I should be more careful. Only one nice receptionist there that gave me an extra water for all my troubles but the people are super rude here. They had no compassion and they lied about the AC on the booking. So disappointed about those nights there

We had a comfortable, clean, and large triple with a spectacular view of the cathedral. The AC worked perfectly on the 100-degree Fahrenheit day we were there, and the French doors shut out any noise from the square below. (We opened them in the morning to enjoy the cooler air and to better admire the view.) The bathroom was large with plenty of room to set down your toiletries and with a shower/tub combo with good water pressure. There was something for everyone at the breakfast, and we ate enough to keep us full until we got to the Madrid airport around 3pm. I think that many of the negative reviews were written by Americans who are expecting the reliable and convenient but sterile and bland decor of a Hilton Garden Inn or Courtyard by Marriott. Crisol Mesón del Cid was just as pleasant and comfortable, but about 100 times more charming, which is presumably what people are hoping for when they come to a place like Burgos.

Great lovation in the center of Burgos,rooms are a bit dated,but comfortable.Service has been very good,as I left my glasses in the room when i left,and it has been handled well,to facilitate there return.

Great hotel right in the heart of Burgos The rooms were nice, large and very clean. The carpark was well worth buying as very little parking that near the attractions. Breakfast was very nice.

Very nice hotel with wonderful staff and an ideal location next to the cathedral. The staff knows what pilgrims on the El Camino might need and how to get them.

We were given a room facing the cathedral. At night the illuminated church was visible from our bed. Attentive service, friendly people, great breakfast buffet.

Reviews on this hotel are very deceptive. The pictures are taken with wide angle lenses and when you get in the room, it’s very small. There’s no air-conditioning. There are very few amenities. The staff is barely helpful. The bathroom is very small and no place to put your shaving kit or toiletries. shower is very poor quality in the water flows out onto the floor very easily. it’s very noisy at night since you’re right above the square. The rooms are Spartan and outdated. There was no restaurant available at the time May 17 2025. I would not recommend this to anyone. I was amazed to see the high reviews for this place.

Nice size room with a great view of the Cathedral. They had two twin beds set up for our children. It was beautiful. Very close to the Castillo, plaza and restaurants.
