Crisologo Museum

Our family truly enjoyed our visit to the Crisologo Museum. It’s a treasure trove of history! My kids were absolutely amazed seeing the old Spanish-style items, especially the antique model beds and the vintage light fixtures. ​The museum does a wonderful job of preserving the past—from the old family photographs of the Crisologos to their traditional clothes. It really felt like stepping back in time. ​Useful Tips for Visitors: ​Admission: Entrance is free, but they do require a donation to help with the upkeep of the museum. It’s definitely worth it! ​Hours: Be mindful of the time as they close at 04:30 PM. ​Parking: It can be quite difficult to find a spot nearby during busy hours. We ended up parking on a side street a short walk away from the museum. ​A must-visit for families who want to learn more about the heritage of Vigan!

This museum is very well laid out. They have an easy to follow route and it's a one-way trip but you have all the time in the world that you want. Unfortunately some of the displays have just been damaged from the humidity and lack of temperature control but most the museum is in good shape. I believe a couple of the rooms have aircon as well. It doesn't take very long to walk through everything but it's a good little stop if it's your first time in Vigan.

If you like learning and seeing colonial traces, this might be a worthy place to check out. The house itself, especially the second floor, was the highlight of the museum to me. You can really admire how rich people lived back in the day. I truly appreciate and was in awe with the design of the rooms of the house. You can feel that it was well maintained. Otherwise, its mostly curated on the politic life of Crisologo and his wife. The first floor was mostly just full of certificates and awards… We visited on a Saturday morning, there werent a lot of people in the first 15 mins but picked up closer to 11am. Good to know: -No entrance fee but they ask you for a mandatory donation. I guess its to help maintain the house. -There was someone that gave us a tour around they house which was very appreciated as we just visited without a tricycle/kalesa guide with us. -Taking photos or videos are not allowed inside. Admission to the museum is free, but the staff won’t let you proceed unless you put money into the donation box. You can see a wide variety of items and get a glimpse into what life was like for the wealthy during that era. There were plenty of collections, including clothing, perfume, shoes, furniture, and tableware.

When I was taken to the Crisologo memorabilia museum, I had no idea who Floro S. Crisologo was -- who turned out to be one of Vigan City's most famous congressmen. His fame stemmed from his contributions in drafting laws that led to the University of Northern Philippines in Vigan, and even as the father of the Social Security System that has helped many Filipinos. Floro S. Crisologo was shot by an unknown person while at St. Paul's Cathedral. All his memorabilia, including the car with the gunshot wound, are kept in place and modestly in this museum.

I really loved this museum! Unlike the Padre Burgos Ancestral House, which felt almost bare (most items there are replicas and probably only 5% original), the Crisologo Museum is filled with authentic pieces that bring history to life. You’ll find so many fascinating personal items—from Carmeling Crisologo’s beautifully coordinated bags and shoes, to the actual car where an attempt was made on her life, even down to original election posters. It’s not just a building; it’s a space full of stories and details that make you feel connected to the past. Entrance is free, but donations are encouraged—and I truly recommend giving one. This museum doesn’t receive government funding, and it’s clear that the staff and caretakers keep it alive out of love and dedication. Their passion shows when they share the background and history of Floro Crisologo and his legacy. This is definitely a must-visit if you want to experience a museum that’s both meaningful and full of substance.
