Cristal Ballena

This was our best Hotel during our three and half week road trip of Costa Rica! The Hotel is round 800m away from the beach, perfect walk distance and perfect surrounded in the nature. The area of the Hotel is big so it is very quit - we love it! The staff is super friendly and helpful. We only eat here and it was always delicious. We stayed four nights and don’t want miss one of them! We seen so many animals, Tucan’s, snakes, crazy colourful birds, coati’s, hummingbirds, etc. They have a huge pool with a stunning view to the sea and the open restaurant delivers a mind blowing sunset view. We are thankful to be guests in this house and we are strongly recommended to visit this Hotel!

Wow. Loved this place. We just spent 6 nights here. Don't be put off by the short dirt road and very steep driveway to get to the property - everything worth seeing in Costa Rica seems to be down a dirt road and up a steep incline :). | The property is immaculate. Grounds are beautiful. I am a birder, so being up early in the morning, just sitting outside our room was magical - toucans, oropendolas (nesting on the property), chachalacas, lots of flycatchers, tanagers, woodpeckers, heard an owl one evening when coming back from the parking lot after dinner. I added a bunch of birdies to my life list! There is an agouti walking around in the afternoons. And a very friendly black cat in the restaurant (but also hung out with us on our patio (room 20) one afternoon.| Ocean view is fantastic, as are the sunsets. Very large pool.| A great group of guests - I heard Italian, French, German, of course Spanish, during our stay.| The staff - all great. Waiters, front desk, lots of maintenance people and groundskeepers to keep the place looking and running well.| Breakfast - a nice selection| Lunch/dinner - great menu, lots of options. The burgers are great, the tropical salad is amazing. Specials at dinner every day. | Thanks to Andreas and Angelika who have carried on the tradition of their parents to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

We had a fantastic stay! The room was spacious, clean, and featured a large balcony with breathtaking views. The bed was very comfortable, and we had everything we needed right in the room.||One of the highlights was the giant heated pool, which we were lucky to have all to ourselves, a true luxury! The kitchen staff was especially friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home throughout our stay. In the evening, we had a great time playing billiards and darts at the restaurant, it was a lot of fun!||Cristal Ballena exceeded our expectations in every way — highly recommended for anyone visiting Uvita! We'll be back.

This place is beautiful. Stunning views from the rooms and the pool. Amazing piece of property. The grounds are very well maintained and the staff are very attentive. Food at breakfast, lunch and dinner was delicious.

An oasis of calm in Uvita|This hotel is in a beautiful setting between mountains and sea, 5 mins from town. Near to all activities. |The staff were all lovely and went over and above for us, when we a medical issue with our daughter. The breakfast food was gorgeous & made to order. Rooms were generous clean and ours had a beautiful view. A very relaxed atmosphere & lovely pool also. Thoroughly recommend.

Rooms relatively basic. But all is solid. Location is good, steep drive up the hill though. Nice breakfast. Reception was extremely helpful with all requests.

That’s amazing hotel has the most beautiful views of the sea. The rooms are large. The food is excellent and the portions are very big.

Planned to have one meal here based on the recommendation from our Vrbo owner. After dining there at the beginning of our trip, we ended up booking a massage for my wife a few days later and then having dinner and drinks after. Great retro tropical resort vibe in just an extraordinary location. Absolutely love the view from the restaurant during late afternoon and sunset. Our new friend Hilbert (sp?) is a fantastic host. Ask about happy hour deals in the off season. Every dish we tried as a party of four, dining there twice, was perfectly prepared. Very reasonably priced options, generous portions and well balanced cocktails. Amazing value for a really memorable experience!
