We just came back from a weekend in Porto and our stay was absolutely amazing! It started with a lovely surprise, we were upgraded for free from a standard double room to a bigger one with a balcony and deckchairs so we enjoyed the sunny weather! The room was quiet and clean with comfortable beds, the buffet breakfast was delicious, and the staff were friendly and very helpful throughout our stay.||We were also celebrating my partner’s birthday on Sunday, and when we returned to the room after a day out, we found a beautiful surprise — a birthday dessert with a candle waiting for us. It was such a thoughtful touch that made our stay even more special.||We definitely recommend this hotel and can’t wait to come back soon!

We had a really nice week at this hotel. The room was comfortable, spacious and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was brilliant, really delicious food with tons of options. We only had dinner in the restaurant on our first night and it was excellent, but we also had food in the bar a couple of times which was another good option. The garden had a nice atmosphere. Other reviews have pointed out that the hotel is a bit of a walk from the centre, but it is well connected with public transport, we could have easily taken a bus to the centre but we chose to walk. Also, we quite liked that the hotel isn't in the middle of the more tourism focused areas, as we got to explore parts of Porto that we probably wouldn't have seen otherwise, including some really excellent restaurants such as the Taberna du Porto and Indian Flavours, both just a few minutes' walk away. There are also shops, including a supermarket, very nearby. The staff were very friendly and helpful, on our first night a woman at the reception desk gave us a map of Porto and spent a while annotating it for us, pointing out places that might be good for us to visit, and we found this really helpful when planning our week.

Rooms on the road side were noisy. Bed comfortable. Bathroom lacked hooks to put towels or clothes! Room 105 Lounge area had a carpet with a tiled walkway behind on a different level!!! I didn’t see the drop and fell off it. I was very shaken and hurt in too many places. I was given ice in a napkin but nothing was recorded! See photos attached. I think the furniture should block this dangerous area. Breakfast staff were struggling to keep up at a very busy time! Suggest more staff needed. The food was great.

Had a fantastic stay at Hotel Cristal. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay with a 2 year old was perfect and they were so friendly with him, Angela especially. Breakfast and food was tasty and the room was modern and spacious. Little further away from the hustle of Porto than we thought but so easy to get about in an Uber which are very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Attentive staff, comfortable room, delicious and varied breakfast😌 I was impressed by the mineral water in the room as a compliment - the first time I see such a package. Nice lounge area and spacious garden to sit in the air or have a delicious cocktail. Thank you for the hospitality🤝 Did’t t like the coffee. No bathrobes and slippers in the room.

I had a pleasant stay in this hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. Love the beautiful tiled shower area (see picture). However, I did notice the shower area had an odor I believe coming from the shower drain. The sink was also a bit slow on draining. Perhaps the piping needs attention. I think the best part of the hotel was the service, every staff was attentive. I left my shirt on the bed and when I came back, the room service lady folded it neatly and placed it on the bed. Little details like this really makes the customers feel welcome. I was also impressed by the friendliness of the staff at the restaurant there. At one point I asked a staff, his name was Leonido, during my breakfast buffet to explain to me what a desert called marmalade was, he kindly explained to me with pictures and all and, more importantly, told me the hotel uses the traditional original recipe. The marmalade was indeed very good. It has a light tangy-sweet flavor. I pretty much used it as a jam for my breads 😋 and a cereal bowl I made with oat/seeds mixed together with non-sweet yogurt and the marmalade. It was delicious and healthy! In terms of location, it’s a bit away from the main tourist area. I ended up walking (if you enjoy hilly but beautiful scenery) and making use of the convenient public transportation a lot. Not a problem for me but that may bother some. A side benefit of being away from the tourist area is that things are a lot cheaper here! All in all, I really enjoy my stay in this hotel. The cost of the stay was reasonable. I will definitely come back again in the future.

Lovely hotel and great staff. Great decor and spacious room. |Good breakfast with more than usual choice. Real juice too!! Coffee good except for last morning which was a litter bitter for my taste. We did have a pizza in the bar, which was not brilliant. Steak sandwich was good though.|Only comment which others have made is in reference to location. Its a bit out of town. Which is ok going into town as its downhill. We did walk back one night but second night got a cab (7€) back rather than walk. Taxi to/from airport was about 22€. In summary a good experience.

Wowza what a hotel the presentation and staff are top class. The top floor rooms with balconies are amazing the views incredible for sunrise and to see the size of the city .It was too cold to sunbathe but that room type would be great if you go in the warmer months to chill out on the sunbeds after a day sight seeing.|They also have the lovely garden seating area we didn’t use it as very cold but a suggestion would be patio heaters for winter months .The restaurant is top class fine dining with prices similar to the Uk it has a gorgeous ambiance, the breakfast area is modern and has a good quality coffee machine with fresh pastries and warm breads and a good selection of continental and traditional Portuguese choices , the quiches were very tasty and of course the pastel de nata egg custard tarts ,|We had pizzas the first night from the snack choices at the hotel bar these were made fresh stone baked bases with various toppings you can select good value drinks & food choices ,|You can leave your luggage safely with the hotel on arrival until your room is ready around 4pm ,|It cost 17 euros in a Uber to/ from the airport each way .|If you don’t want to do the steps back up from the river to the hotel it only cost 7 euros in a taxi if you want the excercise it takes about 20 mins from the hotel to the Cathedral stop there to listen to the singers and take in the views then continue down the steps to the Douro river side. You can take the monorail across the main bridge or walk across we walked across from the lower level and the top level ( not recommended if you don’t like heights but I ticked it off my bucket list and let my friends stop to take the view pictures lol ) |We walked over 6 miles a day just around the different areas of the city it really is a wonderful intriguing place with something down every little narrow street .i fully recommend our stay at The cristal hotel Porto it was ideal for us and the staff are so welcoming |Thank you from Debra,Rachel,Andrew,&Gina we all said will return .
