"Famous though it may be for its surfer-friendly waves, Cronulla’s name comes from an Aboriginal word meaning "place of pink seashells." Cronulla, which hugs the Bate Bay coastline in Sydney’s southeast, beyond Botany Bay in Sutherland Shire (dubbed ‘The Shire’), is actually a string of beaches; Cronulla Beach and North Cronulla Beach are at the centre, with Elouera and Wanda beaches fanning out towards the north in a golden, five-kilometre sweep. The only Sydney beach that can be reached directly by train (it's about a 45-minute journey from CBD's Central Station), the well-patrolled Cronulla is ideal for families and surfers of all levels." - Sophie Davies
Perfect beach for a family day out! Safe swimming areas for kids, plenty of space to play, and nice walking paths along the shore. Picnic spots, BBQs, and nearby cafes make it easy to spend the whole day here. Loved the relaxing vibe and beautiful coastal views! 👨👩👧👦🌊

It was packed when we went there so the swimming area(between the two flags) has very limited space for people. The waves are quite aggressive too, but it was a great beach otherwise.

Came here to visit a friend and do a beach walk, unfortunately the latter didn't happen as I wasn't feeling well. Easy access from Cronulla train station, ample grass areas with shade, there is an ocean pool which is great for swimming laps. Seems like a good safe family beach with strong presence from the local life savers. There are a variety of cafes and eateries too.

Beautiful beach! Has lifeguards, cafes and food options, a large grassy area for sitting and a good view. Reccomend!!!

Lovely beach, absolutely beautiful except the crane spoiling the view but hopefully will be not long to go away. Yes, will be visiting over and over again. South Cronulla a bit too small for my liking but North Cronulla is wow.

I enjoyed an invigorating walk, roundtrip from Cronulla Beach to Wanda Beach, on the Cronulla Beach trail during a visit to Cronulla in mid-September 2025. It's a clean, well maintained trail with parks and places to eat nearby. Nice beaches!

Perfect beach for a solo walk or family time. It is beautiful, tranquil and has plenty of shops / food outlets along the coast.
Visited this beach multiple times for a seaside meditation session, coastal ealk and a beach picnic.

Yelp
I really like this beach.
You can learn how to surf here too as there is a surf school at the beach.
This long beach is beautiful and you do not have sit on the top of each other like on the small beaches in Sydney.
Plenty cafe around too.
