On the Grid : Crooked Spire

"The Crooked Spire's cafe walls and ceiling are a visual treat, adorned with original paintings, mix media and sculptural works. If a big weekend breakfast is in order, the open kitchen pumps out a variety of classics. Should bagels or brownies are more to your taste, you're in luck too! There is an impressive selection of baked treats. On the beverage front, the coffee is a delicious Yahava blend. Uniquely fashioned energy drinks will be sure to give you the wake up call you need after a big night out." - Amy Plant

Very nice atmosphere and food. Staff were very friendly and food is high quality. Nice art is everywhere. The only downside was the wait for the food, but that was to be expected on a busy Sunday morning. Also the bread was unexpectedly hard to cut with the knife provided, but it was delicious. I will be back to try other menu items 💕

Called into The Crooked Spire in Midland for a coffee and was really impressed. The place has a cool, slightly industrial feel with plenty of artwork dotted around, which gives it loads of character. Ordered a flat white and it was one of the best I’ve had in ages — smooth with a nice punch of flavour. Also grabbed a slice of banana bread that was fresh and not overly sweet. The staff were friendly and genuinely seemed to enjoy what they do, which always makes a difference. Great little spot if you’re out that way and looking for quality coffee with a bit of personality.

If you're in Midland and dying for a hot or cold Java and something to nosh on, then the Crooked Spire is the place to go. Great service and friendly staff willing and ready to serve you. Great atmosphere with plenty of artwork to feed your eyes as well. A big thank you to all the staff for an awesome time.

Stopped by The Crooked Spire in Midland for a quick coffee and ended up staying longer than planned. The café has a cool, slightly industrial feel with heaps of artwork dotted around which gives it loads of character. Ordered a long mac topped up that was rich and smooth, plus grabbed a fresh blueberry muffin which hit the spot. Even though the place was fairly busy with locals coming and going, the staff were friendly and had everything out quickly. Great little spot if you’re after quality coffee with a bit of personality in the eastern suburbs.

I absolutely loved my visit to this cafe! From the moment I walked in, the vibrant artwork on the walls created such a warm and inviting atmosphere. But the real stars? The **incredible coffee** and **delicious food**! The coffee was exactly how I like it – **strong, bold, and utterly satisfying**. Food-wise, I was spoiled for choice. The sandwich was **awesome**, featuring **yummy, crunchy, incredibly fresh bread** (🍞 heaven!). The breaky wrap was also **super good** – packed with flavor and perfectly cooked. What truly elevated the experience was the **amazing staff**. They were genuinely **friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond** to make sure everything was perfect. The space itself is thoughtfully designed with **lots of different seating options**. Whether you want to sink into a **comfy couch** with a coffee table, perch at a **high table**, or relax at a **normal-sized table**, there's a perfect spot for everyone. It’s ideal for working, catching up with friends, or just chilling. **Bonus highlights:** ✅ **Wheelchair accessible** – truly welcoming to everyone! ✅ **Dedicated play area for toddlers** (brilliant for parents!) ✅ **Cute little gift shop** with charming finds.

My 1st experience here was via Door dash. I was really impressed at how fresh & tasty it was as well as how well they packaged it. This inspired me to take my fiancee to dine in & we really liked the atmosphere. The service was swift & friendly & professional. Kudos to the chef on their magnificent sauces. I'd like to buy it by the jarful. Thank you for an enjoyable breakfast. Keep doing what you clearly do best.

Google
Such a lovely place to enjoy a coffee and pastries! Staff was so fiendly and polite and my coffee actually came out extra hot! ;) I tried a custard crossaint for the first time and I would highly recommend it!

Yelp
I built my own breakfast of poached eggs and grilled tomato on crusty bread, with hollandaise sauce. I asked for the bread to be toasted and the waitress told me it already is. It came out barely toasted, which matched the descrip but not what I asked for. The grilled tomato was cooked on top, but hard throughout. There wasn't any butter with the bread. For $24 (with a coffee) it definitely could have been better.

Yelp
I had an early start in Midland this morning - and no milk at home - so I needed somewhere to grab my morning coffee and something light (or tempting) for breakfast, and decided to visit Crooked Spire. The first thing that stands out is that it's BIG inside - there's no way you could afford to do something like this closer to the city. Seating is all benches and couches, but at least there's plenty of them. Coffee is from Yahava which I often find to be overrated but I enjoyed my cup today - maybe they just know how to make it properly. When it comes to food, there isn't a menu as such, just a selection of cakes / slices on the counter plus some savoury wraps. I tried some rather good banana bread, which was toasted and brought to my table - very quickly I should add - with some Lurpak for $5. Great stuff. No frills but good product, efficient service and a $10 breakfast - sometimes that's all you need.

Yelp
Dropped in to Crooked Spire to grab some takeaway coffees and lunch in the morning. Walked in and was amazed at the set up of the cafe. It's definitely hipster hahaha! Coffee was amazing and the charcoal prosciutto sandwich I had for lunch and toasted at my clients office was tasty. Will be coming back again to just enjoy a nice dine in cafe experience next time :)

Yelp
Great coffee, great donuts and great atmosphere. The staff here are really helpful and you can tell they love coming into work. Makes for a great visit and great start to the day. Great for kids, prams and people in wheelchairs.

Yelp
Been here a couple of times, the place is unusual with some great art, sharks hanging from the ceiling, green room, playpen for the kids, lots of seating indoors and a few tables outside. The staff are friendly and the place always seems to be busy. Lots of salads, sandwiches, baked goods, juices, coffees, teas etc to choose from. I've had a soy flat white, long black, green machine juice and veggie wrap which were all delicious.

Yelp
Probably the best coffee in Midland. The hipster hangout is like nothing else you'll find in these parts. Feels like someplace else -- everyone friendly, fresh fresh food, courteous staff exceptional service. I've only had coffee so far but judging by the plates going by and the bustling business they're doing, I reckon everything must be good. Lovely culture -- check it out!

Yelp
I Have been going here since it opened and a finer Cafe you cannot find in Perth. The Staff are all fantastic, the space is amazing, Coffee and food perfect and the eclectic mix of patrons is the cherry on the cake but oh no not for Michelle B who wouldn't know a good Cafe if it smacked her in her chops!!! Stick to Coffee Club and Dome Michelle where the staff are robots and the food is made in a factory the night before... I love the Spire and look forward to every visit

Yelp
Great little treasure cafe, friendly staff, raw gluten free cakes and much more. Staff remember you by the name and what type of coffee you have . A very unique place to get together

Yelp
Midland has just received a taste of the western suburbs in the form of 'the crooked spire'. Walking through the doors you immediately get the sense that this place is groovy, funky, on trend and doesn't take itself too seriously. Ordered 2 flat whites and a white chocolate and pistachio blondie slice, as well as a blueberry and white chocolate cake thingie. The coffee is not yet on point but you can see that they are trying and wanting to please. A well trained barista would fix this easily however in saying that, the coffee was still quite good. The place is open and groovy with stools or couches scattered around giving off a great relaxed feel. Love this place and will be making it my coffee 'go too' haunt in midland. AA++ WILL BE BACK AGAIN... OFTEN!

Yelp
Right near Midland station is a place where kids are welcome and the coffee is good. The food was okay. At 10am there was a small selection of pre-made sandwiches that can be grilled, or pre-made salads. There is an array of baked goods such as brownies, blondies, marshmallow desserts and other sweets (I am yet to try, they looked soooo good!). I also saw some raw balls. I didn't see a menu so guessing it is just what is in the cabinet. Staff were 20 somethings who were nice enough. I had a chicken and avocado ciabatta (about $11) that was toasted which was good but nothing special. The flat white did cost $4.50 which I thought is a bit pricey for Perth, let alone Midland but it was good. We had a fresh juice (I hope it was freshly squeezed but didn't ask) which was $5. I loved the decor, there is a giant shark hanging from the ceiling, industrial ceilings and warehouse look. Street art can be found on the walls as well as geometric patterns. The furniture is casual and laid back with worn but clean leather couches, wood and iron stools and benches. The blackboard behind the service station was even on trend! There is room for several prams so ideal for a small mothers group, a play pen and a small bouncer (yay!). There is a large toilet/change table to use which is a bonus! I can't say that I saw a high chair (my babe is too young for one). It is a bit far for me to visit weekly but I will definitely be back...just because it's cool and it caters for young mums. They get 4 stars as I am reviewing this based on amenities and the coffee, but I wouldn't come here especially for a sandwich, just a coffee and to try the marshmallow dessert or brownie (I was trying to be good and didn't try it. Regretting that as life is too short to be good!).

Yelp
This place is super eclectic looking, with all sort of art spread throughout, big, worn in chesterfields and communal wooden seating, it's oozes cool. I treated myself to a iced coffee frappe, but it wasn't overly icey, but did taste the goods. While I didn't partake of any of the delicious looking food on offer, it has a sense of "clean eating" or "no preservatives or additives etc" about it. The place is HUGE and appears to have a filming studio as part of it? Catering for the family type also, there was a set of child owners there with their being in a toy prison thing on the floor that it appeared to enjoy. The staff were lovely, there was free water on offer and it wasn't outrageously priced. I assume they have live bands playing later on party nights and would be a venue I would check out again when in the area.

Yelp
Ambiance is really good, has that very hipster feel. High ceilings make this place very breathable during summer. Just wish there were more tables. The selection of coffee and drinks are very good. Food menu is limited to sandwiches, salads and pastries so this is not the place to go to if you're really hungry. But if you want a chill brunch or light snack or just a place to have small talk, this is the place to go.

Yelp
Cool little spot to find in midland. Food was so expensive though and tasted like every other cafe.

Yelp
Cool digs with a great vibe and very friendly staff who are generous with their smiles. Looks like a comfy space to hang with friends, but the coffee? Meh. Didn't hit the spot.

Yelp
really funky place, laid back and relaxed, perfect to catch up with a friend or get some work done. love the atmosphere and the decor. my iced coffee was perfect! the music was a tiny bit repetitive but it was good so that's okay. friendly staff which is a big plus- it makes me willing to drive here from up in darlington for a coffee and a bagel. they also sell a selection of keepcups, metal straws and plants and things which is handy, i've been looking for metal straws everywhere! after being too intimidated to go in for weeks i'm really glad i did, overall a much more positive experience than i expected

Yelp
Saw reviews on Yelp so thought we would give it a try for breakfast. First we always have coffee before we order food. Coffee was very average. I asked for a menu and was told there isn't one. They said all the food on offer was on the counter. Wasn't keen with the idea of having a bacon and egg wrap that had been sitting on the counter under glad wrap. Needless to say we didn't get breakfast here
