I have been wanting to try Cross Street Public House since they opened, but between COVID and my habit to just go to my usual places, I had been sleeping on it.
Boy do I regret not going sooner. When I arrived I was surprised how nice it looked inside. Cross St bars can be a bit hit or miss, but this place was clean, well lit, things were nicely spaced out. Overall atmosphere was just really welcoming.
My wife and I had heard good things about the pizza and ordered a spicy roni, but we wanted to try more so ended up getting a buffalo chicken sandwich as well.
Let's get the bad news out of the way first. The buffalo chicken sandwich was not good. My wife and I are both picky about chicken meat, and maybe we just got a bad piece. The sandwich fixings were good, but the meat was bad to the point that we ended up tossing most of it. Again, this may be an issue of personal taste, or bad luck. In any case, the pizza more than made up for it.
This pizza is F-ing great. Flavor-wise it is interesting without being too busy. A bit of heat without blowing out your pallet. Even more impressive is how filling they are. After tossing most of our sandwich we each had a slice of pizza and still ended up with some left over.
We will 100% be ordering pizza from here again, and I am eager to go back and try out their happy hr as well. The sandwich came with chips, and while the walk home wasn't kind to them, they were still good. I bet these chips on-site would be killer.
Finally, the staff were excellent. I asked a couple questions about the restaurant and their happy hr and they took the time to explain and answer question and were just generally very nice. If I didn't have a late meeting tomorrow I would be headed back tomorrow afternoon to check out the Happy Hr :)
