A Truly Memorable Wine Tasting Experience From the moment we stepped into the CrossHatch tasting room in Santa Ynez, we knew we were in for something special. The artfully hung grapevine—roots and all—was a stunning first impression and set the tone for the unique experience ahead. Tony welcomed us with such warmth and genuine hospitality that we instantly felt at home, as if we were visiting old friends. We loved learning about the history and meaning behind the cross hatch design on each bottle, as well as the fascinating process of co-fermentation that makes their wines so distinctive. Every wine we tasted was exceptional—balanced, flavorful, and memorable in its own way. This was easily one of the highlights of our trip to the Santa Ynez Valley. We enjoyed it so much that we joined the wine club on the spot and can’t wait to enjoy these bottles back home in Maryland, each sip bringing us right back to the relaxation and beauty of the valley. CrossHatch is more than just a tasting room. It’s an experience, and one we’ll never forget!

I was greeted and seated right away. Service was great. I ended up buying 6 bottles so the 2 tastings were free. I was even able to sample wine not on the flight list. Sam was a great host and server as I enjoyed the short stay.

As I take a deeper dive into wine, CrossHatch was on my list and added to my hobbies! Tony was so awesome in walking us through the different wines and explaining the blends.

The wines are exquisite. Recommend their GSM. Nicely appointed tasting room with beautiful art. Location is very charming in Old Town Santa Ynez. They make you feel very welcome.

Best wine of the area, by far. Michelle is an amazing host! A must stop and taste!

Google
Really good and interesting reds. Their co-fermentation style makes for some interesting tasting notes. This will definitely be one of our stops when visiting the region! "Depth" and "Figure" were our favorites.

Yelp
Tony is a true delight and guided us through some wonderful and delicious wines. Such a cozy place inside and outside. Standouts included: Patina - A Viognier and Grenache Blanc blend. The Perfect summer wine. Rubia - Their first chilled Red of Grenache and Mourvedre and a delightful surprise. Figure - Tony's favorite and super tasty. Tempranillo and Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon Congruence - A jam bomb of Syrah and Viognier. Yum. Definitely make your way here!

Yelp
Benjamin was a knowledgable pourer. He took us through our flight, shared his favorites and sold us a bottle or 2. We admire Ryan Carrs wine style. As Members of Carr winery it's nice to venture into his other sister wines!

Yelp
Eda is amazing, kind, interesting, and a knowledgeable wine server. She made us feel right at home as we cozied up to the bar. Hubby and I each had a wine tasting. We love the reds. We ended up buying a bottle and glasses to take back to Chumash Casino resort. Chumash used to have wine glasses in the room. Eda was easy to talk to like an old friend. She is very personable. Eda would get 10 stars if Yelp allowed it. The winery itself is designed well. There is a couch, tables, and other comfy yet stylish furniture. We enjoyed ourselves. Thank you, Eda. CrossHatch Winery accepts the AXXESS card. Woo Hoo! This review is for the location in Santa Ynez.

Yelp
Who wants to drink in a windmill??? I do! I do! I do! This is a sweet tasting room! It's a little hidden because it's not right in the middle of all the action but it's the huge windmill you can see from across town! They offer a nice variety of wines both red and whites. They allow everyone to bring in food from the restaurants down stairs. I did see a few people with cheese platters to pair with their wine. Looked good too! Although the tasting room is quite small, let's be real it's inside a windmill, they have a balcony with tables and chairs so everyone can enjoy their wines outside, possibly during sunset? Do I hear romantic? I think so! The pouring team here was super nice and made tasting wines really fun! I'd highly recommend everyone check this spot out!

Yelp
Aron was awesome - had a great time here and the wine he recommended based on my tastes was delicious . He also recommended some other winery stops we could make on our trip up north. We'll be back!

Yelp
Upon arriving at this winery, we noticed how beautiful and well kept the building was. Our hostess offered a private seating area that was great for people watching. We also took some great pictures as they have a cute porch and adirondack chairs. The wines were fantastic and the wine labels were done by an artist. We purchased a case of wine and can't wait to go back.

Yelp
CrossHatch Winery is a very special place and, winemaker. Owners Jessica & Ryan Carr are clearly about grapes and all things "wine" and it shows in their highly quaffable wines, all five varietals. This is a unique, small production winery, with remarkable attention to detail (including the gorgeous labels which could have been created by Albrecht Durer himself) and the wines, of course. The Carrs have also gone to a lot of trouble to create a cozy, unique space to taste, the top of an old windmill in downtown Solvang which, by the way, is rapidly becoming a very cool place that is NOT just about all things Denmark. Tourists who love the town during the day, give way to us locals who come out at night and we love the hot new restaurants and bars!

Yelp
Really great find in Santa Ynez. Pretty straightforward wine tasting - we were the only ones there when they opened on Friday and got to sit in Adirondack chairs on the lawn. All the wines are blends. Had no intention of buying any wine, but was surprised by how good they were!! Ended up taking home 6 bottles. I'd definitely do a repeat visit to CrossHatch! Recommend you give it a shot.

Yelp
What makes a trip to Solvang even better? Drinking wine in a windmill makes it better! This little tasting room is a hidden gem in the little town of Solvang and Since we were staying at the Hadston House, our wine tasting was complimentary!! The wine is spectacular and our host was very helpful in explaining the different wines. The prices per bottle are not that expensive from what we saw. So don't just walk past this windmill, walk up the stairs and try some wine!

Yelp
Arrived on a Tuesday at 3:21 PM. The gate was open with a sign that said "Open" but at the front door, there was a hand-written post it note saying "Be Back in 15". We waited until 3:48 PM (27 minutes) with no one in sight so unfortunately we didn't even get to try the wines.

Yelp
The venue was promising at the top of a windmilled building but the wine a disappointment especially at $20 a tasting. Our server seemed more interested in her dog playing behind us and what time it was, than engaging us with the wines she was pouring. All would have been forgiven for a good wine tasting but alas, it was not. Save your money for better wines elsewhere in town.

Yelp
Drinking wine in a windmill? Uh yessss!!! This tasting room is cute and cozy and perched high in the windmill! There are like 3-4 tables inside and like 6-7 stools at the bar. You get to try 5 (I think) different wines and you have the option of taking your wine glasses home as a souvenir! Unfortunately, you can only get up to the room via stairs. It may not be the best for anyone that may have trouble going up and down them. Since it's inside a windmill, space is a bit limited but it's easy to stop elsewhere for a bit then come back and I'm sure space will open up for you! The ladies behind the bar were so friendly and informative about the wine too!

Yelp
Chante was great and very knowledgeable. Winetasting was great ambience was quaint and intimate If you're ever in Solvang don't sleep on this place go up the stairs at the WinMail and see Chante

Yelp
The atmosphere absolutely makes this place! Gorgeous views from the rooftop patio that can't be found elsewhere. The staff is top notch. Wines were unique and affordable.

Yelp
We shared the flightwe loved it!the wines were very distinct in flavormy tastebuds were going crazy
google avatar

Megan D.

Yelp
The wine server here (Natalie) was really great and very informative. She gave a lot of great recommendations. She also knows a lot about wine. The patio and lounge areas here are really cute as well. The bad part is the wine. It's all pretty bad but it's a cute place to share a glass and take pictures.

Jamie J.

Yelp
I fell in love with this place. I tried the "Depth" one and my boyfriend got the rosé, but I forgot which one he got.. BUT they were both super good! Workers were very friendly and professional! My favorite thing here was that the place is very aesthetic and cute I would come here anytime I visit Solvang again!
google avatar

Yelp
This is a great location for a winery. They have some really great wineries but I miss the place that was here before!!
google avatar

Yelp
I have to admit, the wine -- all blends -- were the worst I've tasted. I wouldn't go back except for the outdoor seating. I would avoid this place if you really like wine.
google avatar

Yelp
The quintessential Solvang experience! Who doesn't want to drink wine in a windmill? The service is excellent and friendly, the space is awesome and the wine is INCREDIBLE! Couldn't ask for more, felt like family by the time I left. Can't wait to go back.

Phil C.

Yelp
Probably the best hidden winery in Solvang. Tasting room inside a windmill with an outdoor patio that wraps the windmill. Just stumbled on it but so glad we did. Beautiful simple space, engaging staff, and the wine flight was excellent. Whites/rose especially smooth. A given that ill return here on next visit.
google avatar

Ciaara B.

Yelp
Did the flight wine tasting there today. The wines here were so gross. I couldn't even drink them. The last one we tried was the only one bearable out of the 5. Me and my fiancé like sweet wines. If you prefer sweet wines, this place is not for you. If you like dry wines maybe it's more your thing but we couldn't stand it... the cheese and crackers were great though. The lady helping us wasn't really paying attention to us when we needed more wine but the gentleman working there was on top of things

Julianne R.

Yelp
Amazing service!! Relaxed environment and great music! Def worth stopping here!!!! Best wine would be the Rose!! Soft and refreshing makes solvang worth the trip!

Jamie L.

Yelp
The staff member pouring wines was friendly. Personally, I thought their wine sucked. I didn't really care for any of them. It is a cute little tasting room with a windmill outside. They are dog friendly!

Brittany B.

Yelp
Great wine and the wine educator was wonderful and helpful. Thanks for the tips on other winery's

Jill E.

Yelp
This was our first stop wine tasting in Solvang. We enjoyed the wine and Chante was wonderful. She was not only knowledgeable but also excited to talk about wine. And it's in one of the iconic Solvang windmills! Definitely worth the trip. Also, if staying in a hotel in town, it's worth mentioning - we got a two for one tasting deal because of a deal for the hotel we were staying at.

Olivia W.

Yelp
We stopped in on a whim, glad we did! Taylor was so much fun and knowledgeable! We had so much fun, we definitely recommend coming here!
