Crossroads Bar & Grill

Finally visited Crossroads after years of seeing the sign. There is a lot of space inside, a big bar top, TVs to watch your favorite sport activities, and a pool table. Signs on the walls mention trivia and karaoke nights, and live music. The food is good with large portions and reasonable prices. They also had a great beer list and a full bar. We will definitely be back!

Not too crowded at Dinner time on Friday night, but the service was slower than I hoped for. Sat out on the deck and ordered a sandwich, which took 50 minutes and our server disappeared a few times. Not sure if there was trouble in the back of house or with service, but it was tough. Food was middle of the road, but is a good spot to stop in if you’re in South Royalton.

We stopped here on the way to Sugarbush for snowboarding. We caught football Sunday and enjoyed some entrees; my lady had the Mac & Cheese with Bacon and I had the fish tacos. Both were excellent and great size portions. The server was great and the owner is a really cool guy.

Outstanding local feel good vibe. We visited for our 1st anniversary, having gotten married and stayed local last yr. We met some amazing people. Be back next year!

This was a fun small town restaurant. The food was good (poutine was solid!) and the service was excellent. Our waitress was a pro who has been there for many years and absolutely crushed it. If I am in town again this summer on the motorcycle I will absolutely return here and next time play some pool. There are two pool tables and it looks like they are setup to do live music and also with a big outdoor seating area. Looking forward to getting to know this place better, and totally worth checking out if you are in the area!

This place has the best chicken tenders and ranch I've ever had (among other things, I've honestly never had anything I didn't like!!). The owner does an excellent job making sure I have the extra extra ranch I ask for, and I appreciate when I call and he answers, because he just gets the order done exactly the way we like it every single time. There is one female bartender here who is polite and friendly, but never goes the extra mile the way the owner does. Sometimes she says she doesnt have to go utensils, the owner goes and finds some every time, and she never gives me that extra extra ranch like the owner does. It's the little things that count, and he just gets that. I highly recommend supporting this local business owner. The only rough thing to swallow is the bumpy driveway.

This place is great! The staff were very welcoming and attentive, and the food was delicious!!! We'll definitely be back next time we're in the area!

We drove all the way from Castleton Vermont and were not disappointed whatsoever. The food was absolutely amazing. I’m talking one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. The service was absolutely amazing friendly staff great environment great theme The live music was also great nothing better than live entertainment, and the owner is a great guy very friendly, very talkative and very welcoming. I would give this place five stars we look forward to coming back. Thank you for your hospitality.

I might update this review in time. I only discovered it because the neighboring, favorite burger joint was closed. My burger was one of the best around. And the service rocked: cool and friendly people. Local beers there and they make their own dressings and smoke their chicken. There's a deck outside which you can walk right in and miss if you don't look around. I heard there is live music there often, but I can't find the live music schedule on their website.

Scott's back!!! Great food and amazing service glossed in whatever it is that made Xroads so special on during my law school years a decade ago. It certainly is the gathering place too! Lots of folks were having an evening tipple or dinner and chatting up other customers. Welcoming and convivial! Ten years ago, I would complain about how "nowhere" in Vermont did anyone know how to properly fry chicken. I'm from the South, and while I love the freshness and farm to table options all over the Green Mountain State, the lack of juicy, flavorful, fried chicken in any form was my foodie hardship. Well, I can't complain anymore! Xroads knows what it's about.* The fries and sandwiches are solidly on point too. Come for food, drinks, and friends. Missed ya, Scott! *Before you come at me, Worthy Burger wasn't around in SoRo when I lived there.

Best fried fish and chips in Upper Valley. Wonderful local spot. No pretense. The owner is often around. He's charming too!

Stopped in here after a long day on the road from NJ and had the sweetest server and some pretty incredible food. I think the whole town was here! Highly recommend for a friendly real Vermont spot. Worthy burger was hopping across the way, too. Awesome find.

The food was spectacular. Get the Wings! The staff was friendly and Scott the owner/bartender is the reason to be there. Great food and drinks with terrific service.

I was pleasantly pleased to be greeted by the owner, Scott, as I came into the restaurant. He was such a kind and nice person! Our waitress, Jess, was quick and knowledgeable and made us feel right at home. Our food was outstanding. We started with the poutine and loved it! I had the Luke with peppers and onions and my wife had the 1/2 baked chicken. Both meals were fantastic. We sat out on the deck and enjoyed the fresh air and the great view. We will definitely be back and we highly recommend anyone to give it a try!

If I was going to review this place solely as a restaurant, it would probably get a lower rating, but it really seems to be the local hangout bar and at that it excels. The beer list is not as good as neighboring Worthy Burger, but its still pretty damn good and most beers are under $6, including the outstanding Switchback Connector IPA. And you get full pints, which isn't always the case at Worthy. The inside is enormous, with a big stage and a separate pool room in the back. I can't say I'd want to hangout in here unless it was busy, its kinda weird when quiet. Fortunately they have a big deck out back, which seems to be where most people decide to locate in the summer. It overlooks the slightly too-adorable village green of South Royalton and there are horseshoe pits if you need an activity. On the food front, stick to the wings and fries, which they do a nice job with. We got poutine, which had badly under-seasoned and far too gloopy gravy. There were plenty of cheese curds and the seasoning was fixed with a little salt and pepper so it ended up being perfectly edible.

Scott's back and the food is amazing. Love the wings and burgers. Your able to chat with All walks of life and have great drinks and play a game of pool.

A local person we know suggested we try Crossroads Bar & Grill instead of a repeat return to Worthy Burger. He likes these burgers the best. We walked in around 3:30 on a Saturday. Everyone sitting at the bar (about 5 men) starred at us as. Maybe because my husband was in a suit, I was in a tennis skirt and my adult daughter was with us? Either way, it was an intimidating way to walk in. If I had been alone I would have turned around and left right then. The ambience is old bar with nothing that is notable. The bartender also served as our waiter. He was a very nice and attentive to the table. We took a booth and ordered onion soup because it was an unseasonable cold day in July. The onion soup was average. Not bad but not what I should have ordered at a "bar and grill" My steak sandwich was good. Not the best, but good. My husband got a pulled pork sandwich which he said was good too... also not great. The fries were very good. We were told to go there for the burgers but we had been "burgered" out at this point from our days at Stowe. I think we should have tried the burger. I now have read several of the reviews for Crossroad Bar & Grill on Yelp. Maybe we got an off day, All in all everything was good but nothing that I'd go out of my way for a second meal here.

What a great spot to find after a long day of hiking. I cannot say enough good things about this place. If you're looking for pub food this place is it! Everything was fresh and a lot of it seemed to be homemade. Service was great, place was clean and the food came out fast and hot. I'll definitely be back

I went out to drink, and because I'm 4"11 the male bartender (don't know his name, maybe the owner?" Kept saying to me "jeesh I can't believe you're 21 there's no way." THE WHOLE TIME. It was very rude.

This restaurant is good, and very good for a small town in Vermont. Our party of 3 ordered teriyaki chicken wings, French onion soup, beet salad, mushroom toast, and The Burger with added bacon. The soup was hearty and flavorful; perfect for a cold evening. The wings left something to be desired because they were pretty plain, but perhaps ordering a different flavor could change that. Mushroom toast was yummy but could've been more garlicky, and the beet salad was fresh and the local chèvre was a nice touch. Overall, a varied and wide ranging menu that I did not expect from such an out of the way restaurant. We ate quite early so it was pleasantly quiet, but I could imagine that it would be rowdy later into the night. Friendly waitresses and good food. I'm just sorry I was too full to order dessert!

Dear Crossroads, Thank you for getting me through law school, I don't know what I would have done without you. I even moved my 2L year so I would be within stumbling distance. The scar on my left knee from tripping over the train tracks to get to your doors will forever remind me of all the good, the bad, the ugly times had therein. May the dust filled tapestries that swing proudly from your ceiling forever waft the scent of ciggarettes, Magic Hat No. 9, and law school anxiety through your hallowed halls. Love, A lawyer

This place is an institution. Sean B.'s review just about says everything there is to say about Crossroads. As a former VLS student, this place was the end all and be all of social gathering spots during my first 18 months...and yet, for some reason, I avoided it as much as I could. Thank goodness, I screwed my head on straight and headed to the bar halfway through my 2L year. Scott and his array of friendly, wise-ass local bartenders keep this place hopping. Most VLS events either start or end here. The selection of beer is great, the mixed drinks are strong, and no matter what you want to talk about, you can usually find someone to oblige you. Just don't mention that you voted for Bush in the last election, and everything should be A-ok. Good selection of veg and non-veg food, all a step above the "pub grub" you'd expect. It is Vermont, after all, and we're all foodies here!

Ahhh Crossroads. If you've ever gone to the Vermont Law School, you've either been there, or heard stories. The decor isn't exactly unique, just your average bar and grill with pool tables and video games, ATM, a small dance floor and 2 spots outside for playing horseshoes with a covered section for smokers. The smiles, pleasant attitudes and sense of humor of the owner and his help really make the place shine though! As an alcoholic I can say that I LOVE Crossroads...they're more concerned with making a good drink than saving money so the cocktails are usually strong. I'm not a beer drinker, but I've seen a wall with a long line of taps, so I know they have a good beer selection! The food is very good and cooked to order. The chicken fingers rate close to the top of my list (I loves me some chicken fingers) and the steak and cheese subs are actually making my mouth water right now just thinking about them! All in all, Crossroads is a great place to drink, eat and be merry with all your friends!

Ah, Crossroads on Yelp.... what can be said? As Sean B. noted this is a VLS hangout... and it's as good as it gets. Having made my way across those train tracks several hundreds of times in the past couple years I strongly recommend this place. Also, Scott, the owner, is great... be sure to tip.

Wow. Fantastic meal tonight. Amazing live music. Children dancing with their Moms and their siblings. People sitting at the bar having conversations with other folks on either side of them. And somehow my husband's glass was never empty for very long. I just love this place. I had Grilled Mushroom Toast,--oyster mushrooms sautéed in butter and garlic and served on a toasted whole wheat baguette with melted Cheddar cheese. There was just the right amount of char on the bread and the toasts were nestled on a bed of crispy mixed greens...baby spinach arugula and beet greens,--AND a lovely tasting onion jam. Just freaking amazing! My husband had a Steak and Cheese Sandwich. It had sirloin, sautéed mushrooms, sharp cheddar cheese and a garlic aioli on thick sliced whole grain bread with French fries and a dill pickle spear. He was in heaven. The food, the live music, the family-friendly ambiance...This is a great place, folks. And it was just a Tuesday night in rural Vermont!

So glad I Yelped right before driving South through Tunbridge/So. Royalton!, This place was great! I went for lunch and had a terrific Burger. Good Brioche style bun, big burger cooked exactly as I ordered, VT Cheddar, and LTOPickle... very very good. The Bartender, Fred, was really good. Fast, professional, and fun/funny. Described menu options, described some Local Beers, and talked me into wings that I really didn't need, but was glad I got them. The wings were not dry and crunchy like they frequently are. (Maybe only fried 1 time? They were big, and juicy, with lots of sauce options. I got Sweet Chili Thai, or something like that. Delicious. Monday is 6(big) wings for $4.50. Unfortunately I was in my work truck, so I could not sample from the 15 or so Tap Beers. I will return for dinner in my car for a longer stay next time! Not fancy, just down to Earth good Local food an Spirits, with fantastic service... It's everything I like in a Bar&Grill.

Having very warm feelings thinking about Crossroads. Wish I lived closer so I could hang out there more often. Awesome bartender. Gave my man a high-five for being ridiculous and ordering a veggie burger reuben with bacon (customized, no problem). Seriously, though, he was really cool and friendly and handling the entire place on his own. Slowed down to say hello to us and make sure we got what we wanted. And it was busy. The food is cheap and really good, plenty of veggie options, which to me is important. They also had live music, and I was sad that we had to be on our way to our destination and couldn't stay and listen. Next time we're in the area we'll stay for the entertainment.

A burger joint with zero ambiance. The food is ok at best with nothing special to distinguish its menu. It is pleasant to sit outside on a Vermont evening; if on the left half you can peer out at the village but otherwise you get the air conditioner of the Post Office. If not summer, you're in a warehouse, which it was. A wonderful, gregarious place if you are under 25. Otherwise, not.

Heading to a family ski vacation and needed lunch. So glad we found this place just a bit off highway. Friendly staff, great local beer selection, small menu but good variety and great quality. Delicious creative touches on menu. Could tell the kitchen took pride in their work vs heating up a bunch of premade products. Will definitely go back next time in this area

What a pleasant surprise. Dropped in to meet a friend for a beer and ended up having dinner. Glad I did as the double Cajun burger was excellent as was my friend's filet mignon. Great menu and specials. Don't be put off by the exterior, it's what's inside that counts. Oh yes, good selection of local beer on tap and our waitress was friendly and accommodating. Will be going back. Worth the detour.

We had a blast at this place!!! Katie was attentive and suggested some great food!!! From the outside it doesn't look like much but the inside is warm and welcoming. Great food great service!! And depending on the night there is great live music as was the case Tuesday October 10th.

Driving to Boston from Burlington. Needed to try a new place because I always go to Worthy Burger. Eating a great avocado bacon lettuce sandwich, sweets fries and some sweet bluegrass music is being picked away by a three piece group. Just what I needed! Solid VT local business!

This is a great neighborhood bar with lots of space, and many great beers on tap. Food is reasonably priced "pub grub." During the warmer periods go outside to enjoy your food and drink on the large deck. You can even play horseshoes in the grass below the deck. Just don't be startled when a train goes whizzing by on the tracks right next door! Crossroads has good food specials, free wifi Internet, and the owner/bartender, Scott, is a great guy. The patrons are a mix of students from nearby Vermont Law School and locals.

The taps for the beers probably haven't been cleaned in a couple of decades. The bathrooms stink. The food is mediocre. But the spirit of this place, and the people who go there make the whole thing worthwhile. I can't say enough about how critical this place is to the South Royalton and Vermont Law School community. As Krystyna wrote: "This place is an institution." And the outdoor deck on a sunny Vermont summer afternoon with a cold beer and some mean buffalo wings is priceless. Good bands come through every now and then, too.

The environment was comfortable and fun! The food was made to perfection and delicious. I will be back again soon!

[Awesome] dive bar (with a new owner/chef) that offers an amazing grilled mushroom toast with a shallot chutney appetizer. Yup, you heard me right, grilled mushroom toast with a shallot chutney (at a dive bar!). The burger is incredible. Beef is ground in-house and has a amazingly fresh beef flavor. Had the ABLT, which was pretty tasty too! Definitely worth stopping in. The bartenders are really cool and friendly. If you live in the area you'll definitely be a regular!

The Crossroads is tucked away in the beautiful town of South Royalton. Don't let the bar vibe fool you, the food is fantastic. My favorites are the ABLT or the Crossroads Philly. Beer selection is great and the small but very interesting wine selection works well. Service is fast and friendly.

It is what it is. It's the typical jack of all trades, master of none Vermont pub trying to please everyone and not doing anything particularly well. Can't decide if it wants to be fancy or divey. There are too many items on the menu that have pretensions toward fanciness, but are simply mediocre. It's not a gastropub, not a dive bar. It's in that grey area in the middle that Vermont has too much of. But, I guess that's what many Vermonters want. If you're looking for a simple dive bar with no pretense, this isn't it. If you're looking for a fancy craft-beer gastropub, this isn't it. If you want a little of everything... basic pub fare that's fancied up around the edges in a non-threatening atmosphere, this is your place. It's fine. I would say sort of 2.5 stars... right in the middle in that there was nothing bad about it, nothing really amazing. It's just a rural version of every generic pub you can find anywhere in New England.

It was quiet on the Sunday afternoon we tried Crossroads. It's a modest space, very casual in a quaint town. The food was really good....the salad was nice and big with mixed greens. My husband got the chicken sandwich and it was slow cooked just right, moist with a slight smoky flavor, not like the dry, tasteless stuff some other places serve. Decent selection of booze at the bar and good drinks. We sat inside but they have outdoor seating on their deck.

The place is an old grain store so from outside does not look like much. However, the service and food was terrific. We started with sweet chill crisp duck drumsticks which were so tasty. We had fish and chips which had a light batter with awesome fries. Looking forward to going back. Phil and Donna

Basically the only bar in town. That being said, Crossroads is everything you need out of a bar. The bartenders were friendly and fast. The drinks were reasonably priced. There seemed to be an okay number of places to sit and bar activities (horseshoes, foos ball, live music etc.) Because the area is so small, I wouldn't expect to meet new people here, but it did seem to be gathering place for the law students. If you happen to just be passing through, it's a good place to stop for a drink if they are open (irregular hours) but you probably won't be wowed by anything specifically.

Stopped here for lunch last Sunday. Didn't look like much walking in. In fact you would never guess the incredible food that comes out of this (dive) bar. We ended up staying for 4 hours just to keep trying the menu. We tried the duck wings with chile sauce, grilled squid salad (right?!?!?! - at a dive bar?) and then shared a philly steak. Probably the best philly steak I've had. No shaved steak. This was hand cut, perfectly cooked and then smothered in gourmet mushrooms and onions , topped with cheddar and garlic aioli and sandwiched between two sliced of grilled artisan bread. Honestly I couldn't believe the quality and presentation of the food here. And the price is more than fair. In a restaurant this could go for twice the price. Lots of great beer on tap and a super friendly staff perfectly round out the experience. The only thing I can see keeping this place hidden is that they are difficult to find if you don't know where you're headed. Some better signage on the road would help a ton. The Crossroads deserves to be noticed.

Just passing through Vermont and we stumbled upon this place, great food, great people, and affordable drinks. The bartender "the Colts fan" I didn't catch his name but he was very nice and informative, he helped us with getting directions back to the highway. All in all a really great bar!!
