We had such a wonderful time visiting Crossroads Maple in Vermont during our family summer holiday in 2025. It was one of those authentic experiences that truly brought Vermont’s maple culture to life for us — and especially for the kids, but ist not a restaurant.
From the moment we arrived, the laid-back, open atmosphere really impressed us - we were all alone. The sugar house operates on a trust-based system: you simply explore the setup, see how things work, and pay on the honor system. It was great to explain to the children how everything functions — even though syrup wasn’t being actively produced at that moment, the equipment and setup gave us plenty of opportunities to show them the techniques and traditional process behind making real Vermont maple syrup.
The friendly, family-focused vibe made the visit feel relaxed and genuine, not like a typical tourist stop but like being welcomed into a local tradition. And speaking of tradition — the maple syrup itself was outstanding. The flavor was incredibly fine and nuanced — much more delicate and rich than many other places where we’ve tasted maple syrup. It quickly became a highlight of our breakfasts back home!
All in all, Crossroads Maple was a delightful find on our summer road trip. It’s educational, heartfelt, and absolutely worth a stop if you’re in the area — especially with kids who are curious about where food comes from. Highly recommended!
