Crown & Mitre Hotel

Comfortable, quiet refurbished room, lift available for upper floors, we didn't use the restaurant but had a meal in the cosy, comfortable bar, only very small gripe was that some seats and tables are very low. Food was exceptionally good and bar is reasonably well stocked. Excellent buffet style breakfast served in a beautiful large room. Every single member of staff was absolutely brilliant and nothing was a problem to them. Small gated secure carpark is a little difficult to find but is fine once you know how to get to it. Fully recommend this excellent hotel set in the city centre.

Stayed here as me and my partner were at a gig in the city, the room itself was a bit of a let down. The drainage on the sink and the bath was very slow, the sink especially was very noisy when it was draining. It was very dated and could do with being modernising , it was way to warm even when we turned the radiators off which I appreciate that it’s probably because we were on the top floor of the hotel.||I think if we stay in Carlisle again we will either choose a better room or stay elsewhere £119 for a small twin room on the top floor isn’t great. ||Parking was excellent and Kelly one of the staff members was great and very helpful…

We stay at the Crown & Mitre once or twice a year over the last 10 years to catch up with our family. The location is perfect & could not be more central. There is onsite parking (first come, first served). This visit though, we felt the hotel has really upped its game and it was our best stay. Breakfast - always good - was excellent. The staff were great - very helpful & friendly & on the ball. Although we didn't have dinner at the hotel, we did have sandwiches on Sunday night, and they were delicious. We'll definitely be back (again).

This hotel is perfectly placed in the centre of Carlisle and offers free parking. A little frustration was the hotel had electric sharging points however they were occupied with not electric cars. The hotel its self is impressive and has a bar a restaraunt and a pool. I didnt eat at the hotel how ever the menu looked varied and good value. The room was basic and in need of a lick of paint and some maintainance, it was however clean and comfy. I payed £51 for a city centre hotel with parking, this is worthy of 5 stars all day long due to the value for money.

I visited for one night for a Niantic Spatial Ingress gaming event in the square in front of the hotel on Sunday afternoon. My room was a small single room, and comfortable, well heated. However the old sash windows let in the draught in quite badly, and needs double glazing, but I'm sure the hotel management know this. The breakfast team and breakfast was lovely. Really happy with all the hotel team.

Stayed for 5 nights, was given a room in the annex building which was refurbished and a good size, small double bed however.|Every morning I was woke up between 0530 - 0630 due to Tesco having their deliveries I was told by reception and the trolleys were screeching loud. This really put a damper on the stay.|Room was dirty on arrival but rectified and daily housekeeping kept the room lovely thereafter |Cooked Breakfast was lovely, but a disappointing continental breakfast, stale croissants and very few cereals.|The food for dinner was absolutely incredible. |Pool and hot tub was a nice bonus but the heat was like a sauna. Chlorine was very thick on the skin

We spent a splendid 3 nights with a group of eleven friends on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis at this hotel from 16th- 19th September. The whole experience was very enjoyable. The dinner and breakfast were both delicious and served piping hot! Often an inclusive deal doesn't give much choice for dinner but there was an excellent choice. Although being a party of eleven we were given prompt attention by the very helpful staff. We are all in our late 70s early 80s but felt very at home at this hotel. Next time I would upgrade to a room with a walk in shower as being elderly climbing into a bath was a little dodgy! This was the only downside! |Carlisle is a wonderful destination and this hotel is near the train station and bus station for trips around the local area.

Room was ok. Reception staff good. My issue was your bar. Staff appeared to have issues with a group booking that reflected on us. No basic drinks. Ginger beer, alcoholic free drinks etc. Stayed two nights. First breakfast. One hour for service. No buffet available. Second breakfast. Over the edible edge. Evening meal. ..Set menu . I joked with a family member as he had a whoke tomato in his tomato soup.! Frozen and disgusting. No other choices. I actually wouldn't of eaten a basic Garden Salad. Perhaps I prefer a basic Premier Inn on quality.

This was our second visit and what a difference from the first. We had a superior room which was gorgeous and spacious. The decor was lovely and the bathroom was great. The small touches were lovely e.g. slippers and dressing gown. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Staff were so helpful and attentive. I'm looking forward to the next stay.

This hotel in one word: charming. An old school building, likely a hotel long, long ago that has been updated and maintained quite nicely by a professional hotel management group in the UK. An easy walk from the main rail station, it has a staggering amount of history in the city centre making it an ideal holiday getaway to my mind. If you're looking for charming pubs serving hardy country fare to haute cuisine it's not difficult to find. Breakfast this morning was buffet and consisted of about everything you expect at small inns (ie., too much food) with "black puddin'" being the exception. I'll get my fill of that later on this trip. Gorgeous restaurant contained within that a nearby coffee shop and bar spoke highly of and a nice looking bar that had a lot of appeal as a nice place to spend some quality time, though I didn't, but only because I had other matters to attend to. Priced right in my opinion, though I opted only for one of the smallest rooms as this was nothing more than an overnight stay before heading to my next destination. A wonderful place to stay, I made a good choice.

Right in the heart of the shopping thoroughfare. Reception area lovely and well marked out to support social distancing. The room although in need of decoration and modernisation, is clean and comfy. Staff are pleasant and helpful.
