Stayed here for 4 nights. Room was lovely and cleaned everyday. Good selection of food at breakfast. Unfortunately the cleaners left my room door open all day and I found it open when I returned at 7pm. When I informed the lady on reception she said "thanks for letting us know".... Parking is on a first come first serve basis and when the gate is closed at around 5:30pm, you have to ring a bell and wait for someone to come out and unlock it for you, they don't rush. When there is no space in the carpark, you have to park elsewhere and pay for parking

I really enjoyed my stay at The Crown and Mitre Hotel. Upon arrival, I was greeted my the polish deputy manager, who gave up his car.parking space for me in the car park..A kind gesture to start. The room was excellent, lots of facilities, warm and clean. The bed was super comfy. Pillows are.quality, The bath was a good size. Hairdryer worked perfectly. Delicious full English breakfast in the morning. The hotel itself was beautifully presented.. Just 5 stars all round. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Spent a pleasant night here, room, bed and bathroom were good. Parking is secure but I did have trouble finding my waze to the entrance, I had to park up and investigate on foot, YMMV depending on your satnav.|Breakfast was just right, full English for me and well executed.|The hotel has a lot of character and some stunning original features, my only complaint was the pool was closed for our visit. Location is excellent to explore Carlisle on foot.

I stayed here as a lone female. I arrived around 7pm after a long drive, in the pouring rain and pitch black to be greeted at the car park gates by a lovely reception lady who looked very sorry to tell me there were no parking spaces left due to a function. She directed me to a car park which was a few streets away. This meant I had to walk up some steep steps and down some side streets to arrive at the hotel, with all my luggage, the rain pouring and feeling uncomfortable walking unfamiliar streets on my own in the dark. |I personally think as a city centre hotel, who advertises having a car park, these spaces should be prioritised for guests staying. |As I said the reception lady was incredibly apologetic and checked I had arrived safely once I was there (as she wasn’t on the desk when I arrived). |The rooms are very dated, particularly the bathroom, but the bed was very comfy and I slept well. Everything was clean. |Breakfast was average. Did the job! |Next time I would book the premier inn with parking guaranteed.

This place is beautiful! It has been thoughtfully renovated, keeping stained glass, marble and chandeliers in the entrance and public areas. Our room (classed as a small double) was comfortable with a lovely modern bathroom. All required amenities were there. Towels were big and fluffy. We ate in the bar (the same menu as the restaurant) and the food was good: good selection well cooked, and well presented. The service was excellent throughout. A special mention to the young lady on reception, who also served in the bar, and was in charge of breakfast in the morning. She was so helpful and welcoming. The hotel is in the city centre, but there is a small, secure car park round the back. They even have ev chargers (unfortunately for us, both were in use😟). I would definitely stay here again,

I’ve never written a review before but I’m having to for this hotel so people can save their money! It took us 4 hours to get here and we were really excited as this was a present I got for my grandpa for his birthday. All we can hear are mice in the walls, people next door talking all night and people above us having sex for 3 hours straight as the walls are so thin! It’s currently 2am and still can’t get to sleep. The only positive thing is the kindness from the staff!

We enjoyed staying in one of the larger Club rooms - it was lovely and quiet, overlooking the main street. A complimentary car park at the rear of the hotel had plenty of room. When we were there, it was a Sunday evening and the restaurant was closed. However, the kitchen was open, and the helpful staff offered to serve anything from the restaurant menu in the bar. It was a good meal.

Yelp
This was our second visit and what a difference from the first. We had a superior room which was gorgeous and spacious. The decor was lovely and the bathroom was great. The small touches were lovely e.g. slippers and dressing gown. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Staff were so helpful and attentive. I'm looking forward to the next stay.

Yelp
This hotel in one word: charming. An old school building, likely a hotel long, long ago that has been updated and maintained quite nicely by a professional hotel management group in the UK. An easy walk from the main rail station, it has a staggering amount of history in the city centre making it an ideal holiday getaway to my mind. If you're looking for charming pubs serving hardy country fare to haute cuisine it's not difficult to find. Breakfast this morning was buffet and consisted of about everything you expect at small inns (ie., too much food) with "black puddin'" being the exception. I'll get my fill of that later on this trip. Gorgeous restaurant contained within that a nearby coffee shop and bar spoke highly of and a nice looking bar that had a lot of appeal as a nice place to spend some quality time, though I didn't, but only because I had other matters to attend to. Priced right in my opinion, though I opted only for one of the smallest rooms as this was nothing more than an overnight stay before heading to my next destination. A wonderful place to stay, I made a good choice.

Yelp
Right in the heart of the shopping thoroughfare. Reception area lovely and well marked out to support social distancing. The room although in need of decoration and modernisation, is clean and comfy. Staff are pleasant and helpful.
