Crown Burgers

Must get the Crown Burger! That is my only recommendation! The pastrami on the burger is flavorful, and each bite is to be savored. Burger is decently sized which can be shared with two people. The fries are great too. I love that they had a fry sauce readily available to pour yourself. It is almost exactly like in n out secret sauce. So having access to an unlimited supply of thst felt nice. The chilli was okay. We ordered a side of it just to try. I think it tastes better on a burger or fries. They do give you a lot for $9 so that in itself is more of a meal than a side. Loved it here. I would like to go back once more before I leave but it’s likely not going to happen. Until next time !

First time to eat here with others who eat here somewhat regularly. Everyone, but me, ordered a hamburger, some getting the hamburger with pastrami that they seemed to really enjoy. I ordered a pastrami sandwich that was on the smaller size but filled with mostly lean pastrami and was delicious. It wasn't overly fatty meat and wasn't greasy at all so I will order it again if we have an occasion to come to this Crown Burgers. The fries and onion rings that others ordered looked good. Greek food items are also available.

The building looks very upscale from the outside and the inside is well decorated and organized. The food was excellent. Some of the best pastrami burgers I've ever had, the gyro and baklava were also good, not as amazing as a dedicated Greek restaurant, but still great. The fish sandwich was good but could have been better. The fries and onion rings were hot and crisp.

A burger joint but just a step up. Good burger. Hot dog. The onion rings looked good but we're nit cooked internally as much as they should have been. If I had wanted them on my burger, the rings would have been perfect, but.....

We stopped here for lunch because I saw on Reddit that this was a highly recommended fast food chain local only in Salt Lake City, and we love to stop at unique or local fast food chains on our longer drives to save time. When we first drove up, we were confused because the only sign we saw was a small drive-thru sign, and the building looked like anything but a fast food joint. If it weren’t for all the cars in the parking lot, we probably would’ve gone to a different location. The building looked like an old Olive Garden with the stone walls. The side of the building where the parking lot was had no door and there were no signs on where to enter. Even walking up, the inside looked like a full service sit down restaurant and looked very dim lit. Once we entered, we did see the service counter and felt a little re-assured that this was the place we were looking for. Ordering is done at a line of cashiers that use paper pads and old school receipt calculators in front of an open kitchen. Then once you complete your order, they yell it into a microphone. I am young and a technology person so I may be bias, but this just seemed too old school, and not in a good way. The restaurant was very loud between all the machines and the cashiers yelling orders and order numbers. I saw online that they were known for their pastrami burger, so we got that, a patty melt (my personal favorite style of burger), and fries to split. They offer “fry sauce” or ketchup for your fries, but we’re pretty sure the fry sauce is just 1000 island, which is the “house sauce” they put on all their burgers. The burger was good on the first bite, but by the time you get to the middle of the burger, it’s far too much pastrami. We got the jr burger and I would say the ratio of pastrami to burger was at least 5:1; at that point just order a pastrami sandwich. The patty melt was easily the most disappointing patty melt I’ve ever had. It was cheese, a patty and onion on rye bread and was incredibly dry. I’m not a huge fan of rye bread in general, but I also think it’s a terrible choice for a patty melt because the seeds just make it feel dry, so we dipped it into the “fry sauce,” which helped, but then completely masked the flavor. The fries were extremely bland, they didn’t really have any seasoning on them, but also somehow didn’t taste like potatoes. I definitely wouldn’t go back and I can see why this fast food chain hasn’t been able to expand outside of Salt Lake City.

We love Crown Burger and have been going there for decades. Everything is delicious. We are trying to eat healthy, so we order a double chicken souvlaki platter and share. You get two skewers of cubed chicken breast that are marinated and grilled. It comes with salad and lemon rice or fries. We usually get two salads instead. The tatziki sauce makes a great salad dressing, as well as dip for the souvlaki. If you're not a large person, one meal is enough for two. It's a lot of chicken. In the past we have loved the chicken gyro, fries, onion rings, the junior crown burger, and the French dip. The souvlaki platter is just over $17. Give it a try!

Well, this is certainly the stop after a church event at the Conference Center. I've read about this place and their famous pastrami burgers, the "Crown Burger," and I passed it walking to the Conference Center and decided to give it a try after President Nelson's funeral services. It was tempting to get just a good ol' cheeseburger, but I decided to go for it and get that Crown Burger. Should I get the Junior Crown Burger? I've read that the regular size one is pretty hefty. Naw, I should just go with the regular stuff to get an idea of what everyone is talking about. I was kinda of leery--I mean, who puts pastrami on a quarter pounder? I ordered the Crown Burger, onion rings, and blackberry shake. I hoped I wouldn't regret it. Well, how about that? Pastrami on a burger actually works. It wasn't overwhelming like I thought it would be. I know some reviews here complained about their pastrami being dry or whatever, but I found the whole thing pretty good. No dry pastrami or beef patty. Every place has there off days. This especially went well with more of their fry sauce on it. I'm not really enamored with fry sauce, I prefer ketchup on my fries, but this fry sauce was good and did complement the Crown Burger. 4 stars. The batter of the onion rings were dry. The good news is that they were not greasy. But they were dry. But once again, the fry sauce actually made them pretty OK. I've never done that before with onion rings. These were not great but they were not bad, either. 3 stars. The blackberry shake was soooo good. Loved it. Would definitely get this again. 5 stars. So this is a Salt Lake City institution. I believe it. So many things on the menu. I aske the man in line behind me if he liked the Crown Burger. He said yes, but he also liked the ribeye sandwich, the Golden Burger, and he started to rattle off some more items but he got cut off by an acquaintance of his that came over to say hi. So the point is, people find their food good. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!

This place is a classic downtown burger joint. It looks a little run down from outside and has a unique and unexpected renaissance-y interior (I guess to go with "crown" burger). And the food is good. They are efficient and have a system for orders and getting your food out. It's Utah-- so the fry sauce is unlimited. Our burgers were cooked just right-- such a nice change after typical fast food burgers. Great fries and onion rings. Soda refills on request (but no self-serve). They also offer event parking with purchase if you're in the area for temple square or the delta center, etc.

Came from out of town and was looking for some classic eats in the area; found that the pastrami burger is a regional specialty and that Crown Burger has been serving them up for a long time. Glad I came! Was pretty impressed for a fast food burger and at the price; it was piled with lots of pastrami and a pretty hefty size quarter pound burger patty. Food tasted really fresh and well-seasoned. I also got some chili cheese fries which luckily did not have beans (I usually don't bother asking but I prefer it this way!). Those also came with plenty of chili and a bed of cheese just under it and over the fries. I'm sure locals eat here without thinking much extra of it but glad I stopped by while I was in town. Service was pretty fast despite it being SUPER busy for lunch hour on a weekday. Friendly staff at the counter and the kitchen was pretty hectic--that classic diner feel! Decor was really nice inside for a fast food restaurant, so much so that it actually made me want to stay and dine in.

Amazing dining experience great I ordered. Double mushroom burger which is char broiled was knocking it out of the ballpark and the fries were cooked just right. Total cost was a little over $18 for this combo meal with drink.

After 2 years living in Utah i finally tried Crown burger! The fry sauce definitely lives up to the hype & so does their ranch! i was actually blown away! if you're wanting a classic backyard burger, this would be the place to go! Their fries i thought were pretty mediocre compared to other fast food fries. The drive thru was quick and the staff were super nice! I didn't get to go inside but the place was packed with cars which is a good sign! I would probably go back!

The best burgers, fries and hot dogs. I love their burgers. I ordered a junior bacon burger with no onions. It was so good!!! The fries and fry sauce are excellent and a must. My child got the hot dog kids meal. The hot dog was crispy and the bun was crispy as well. Best hot dog I've had- with the one bite I had. I would happily order this as my meal next time.

I think I've found my favorite burger place in Utah! These burgers are really good! You order and pay and you get a table to sit and wait for your food. The pastrami was flavorful and I really like the onion rings! The burger is juicy and delicious! Lots of parking! I would recommend when you're in Salt Lake City!

Going to Crown burger brings back. Great memories for me. I went for the first time with my grandfather almost 40 years ago. I now worked nearby and pop in from time to time. They do amazing work. The team is incredible as you watch everybody moving to keep up with tons of customers. The decor is as I remember it from my childhood and I hope it never changes. You have to try the crown burger. It's a classic. The menu is extensive. The fish and chips is a favorite for me as well. Ultimately, you can't go wrong, but do make sure you go when you're hungry.

Not enough tartar sauce on your fish sandwich and the onion rings kind of blah needs some salt. I'm just visiting first time here. Root beer float was good.

Pretty good! I'd really give it more of a 3.5. My husband and I stopped by here on our way to the east coast for our roadtrip since it was pretty hyped. We enjoyed the old world ambience the most! Good service, clean restaurant, burgers had that amazing charbroiled taste. Fries were hot but some were a little mushy. The other thing I wasn't too much of a fan of was the shakes. I feel that they tasted a little more like icey-frozen yogurt than ice cream so I've had better where that's concerned but would definitely order the delicious burgers again!

I was surprised by this place. The inside decor is unique. I'd call this place "Burger Lodge" or "Burger Hall". Inside reminds me of a place mysterious men would gather and plan things over copious amounts of meat. Meat from animals that were recently killed and processed in the back. And elevated dining room with a huge fireplace, sconces, rugs, thick wooden chairs? I'd say the Crown Burger needed more acid, like pickles or mustard. It was difficult to eat and I couldn't finish mine. The choco shake was OK and I do prefer onion rings not so firm. The French fry sauce is really good though. The staff all seemed unusually happy.

They put pastrami on top of cheeseburgers here. Read that again. Pastrami. On top of your burger. What IS this magical place?! Having just landed in SLC (and having little more than airline nibs all day), I was starving for red meat and the idea of a double protein hit charmed me. I walked over to the most interesting-looking restaurant I have ever seen (there are no words, just look at the picture) and placed my order for a Junior Crown Burger with fries and a chocolate shake. This was obviously NOT an Ozempic-sanctioned meal, but I did not care. The food was good, nothing earth-shattering, but I can see why they have a solid following. You hook to this food - like HARD. And good luck not cracking a rib trying to get that first sip of milkshake. No wonder they give you a straw AND a spoon.

This place is my favorite burger place EVER! And I grew up eating some mighty tasty burgers! But Crown is THE BEST! And you can't beat their prices or menu size! When I'm in town, I get their Colossal Burger, extra pickles, and a side order of their always awesome onion rings! Do you know how to test great onion rings? If you bite into it and the onion doesn't slide off the batter, that's a great onion ring! And that's this place! I like to put two or three onion rings on that HUGE burger to boot! All of that pastrami, too, is HEAVEN! And for around $13.00, I always leave the place satisfied. I like their fries, too, so if I'm with a friend, I have them order those, and I order the onion rings, and we split it. The environment at the main store, too, is always great. I love that fireplace! And lastly, the employees HAVE to get credit! I can go into the place at lunchtime, as it's ALWAYS packed, and get my order within fifteen minutes EVERY SINGLE TIME. So, yeah, props to ALL of the employees at Crown Burger! I have since moved back to California, in a town called Redding... you guys wouldn't think about setting up one of your restaurants here, would you? PLEASE?! PRETTY PLEASE! WITH PASTRAMI ON TOP OF IT?! P.S. How is this place only ranked ninth?! And in one of the "Top 10 Burger Places in SLC" where Yelp is concerned, they're not even on that list? And Lucky 13 is? Hey, I had a burger at Lucky 13, and they can't TOUCH Crown! And they're pricier and full of smugness!

Solid burger. Restaurant feels like a diner, and service was good. Would come back. The burgers were good, flavorful and made well. No complaints. Definitely better than most fast food like McDonald's.

Crown burger is always solid. The food is usually a 4/5. What made it a 5 is the free parking for hockey games with the purchase of a meal. Such a good deal when across the street they charge $40 for parking.

Is Crown Burger a Burger King in disguise? Thankfully, it's not, which means the food is good. Apparently it's greek influenced which explains the pastrami on a cheeseburger which you find at every gyro spot you stop in for. Ok, not really. I'm not sure where that combination comes from, but it works well. Maybe because it's some really good pastrami! I stopped in for their signature Crown Burger which is a 1/4 lb. cheeseburger with pastrami, lettuce, tomato and crown sauce. Thankfully, it wasn't Clown sauce which is something you probably don't want. The burger was excellent and filling on its own. It's definitely worth a stop. The place can be a little pricey as this burger was like 9 bucks or so. They have a Jr. version but it wasn't much cheaper. They also have gyros which looked amazing and a number of other items. If you're in SLC, then look for a Crown Burger near you and give it a try. No gimmicks! And no clowns... double score!

During a recent, whirlwind visit to Utah, I was eager to sample some of the Beehive State's most unique regional foods. And Crown Burgers allowed me to knock out 2: pastrami burgers and Thousand Island-adjacent fry sauce. The Salt Lake City Center location is a few blocks walk from Temple Square. The sign is decorated with a cartoony crown, and the large, stone-walled restaurant looks like it must have been a fancier business in the past life. The vast interior is vaguely medieval-themed, between the tacky floral wallpaper, ornate chandeliers, bolted and upholstered chairs, and over-the-top fireplace and mantle. Order from the overwhelming menu posted up front on flat screens behind the long, laminate marble counter. The bustle from the kitchen is occasionally interrupted as the staff shout out an order number. Our group of 6 arrived for late weekday lunch, and the diverse menu offered an option for everyone. We ordered an assortment of sandwiches, salads, and sides, and our large meal was prepared within 10 minutes. The aforementioned Crown Burger was larger and more substantial than the likes of McDonald's, and it was loaded with dry pastrami. The onion rings were loosely breaded and bland, while the steakhouse-cut fries were limp and undersalted. Even the chili fries were dull, dolloped with a scoop of ground beef-laden, fast food-quality chili and a slice of American cheese. All of the mostly forgettable food served only as a conduit for the tasty, tangy fry sauce. Service was brusque and efficient, like any other fast food joint, and the food was moderately filling and relatively affordable (the Crown Burger proper was about $8.50). Crown Burgers is a beloved regional icon, and I will admit that it is far and away superior to Texas' Whataburger. But to my unsentimental eye, it can't break the mold of (slightly upscale) fast foodery. Go for the experience --and the fry sauce -- but don't hold your breath for anything mind-blowing.

We found our way to Crown Burgers after learning that one of Utah's famous foods is the pastrami burger and Crown Burgers was mentioned in a news story we found about food Utah is known for. Crown is what you would expect for a burger/gyros place. We ordered our burgers with fries and soft drinks. Of course fry sauce was a condiment offering. The food was good although I think I'd prefer to either have a cheeseburger or a pastrami sandwich. If you want to give a pastrami burger a try we recommend stopping at Crown Burgers.

Crown Burgers hits all the right marks. They serve good burgers that are familiar from tastes at all American diners or cafes. The burgers aren't great, but they leave you satisfied, content, and feeling like you enjoyed yourself. The prices are a steal for what you get - a generous sized burger. The fries are pretty good, as are the onion rings. Even the veggie burger is a good choice. The menu even includes Mediterranean fare like gyros and baklava. If the taste was improved this would be a five star review because everything else from the staff to the seating are great!

On an adventure in Salt Lake City had to stop in to this burger joint. I have heard so much about the Crown Burger and Onion Rings. This place is legit! I ordered the rown Burger , 1/4 burger topped with tehder delicious pastrami - cheese, tomato lettuce and special sauce, Onion rings and a small chocolate shake. Omg ! The burger is incredible. The onion rings crispy and piled high, the shake so thick you need a spoon! I followed suggestions to add a little mustard to the burger, that works too. Whats cool is the kitchen is behind the counter and youbcan watch them cook and prepare the meals. Everything made fresh to order. They also have other burgers, salads , gyros and more. If you are in SLC you have to make a special trio to try this place.Be hungry - servings are large !! Pro tip - Crown Burger City Center 300 street offers free parking for the day if you order 25.00 worth of food !! Get your burger and park for free as you tour downtown ! Great deal !

Super busy place on a Friday at lunch time. Long line, but went pretty quickly. Burger was nice & juicy, fries fresh and crisp. Worth making my friend stand in line while I saved the booth cause it was so busy. Typical burger joint booth style seating, simple interior.

Searched for a good burger place in SLC since I'm from out of town and Crown Burger popped up. I was pleasantly surprised! I had the Crown Burger combo and it was great! Customer service was excellent and the place was clean. Highly recommend!

Food came pretty quick and was good. I was happy with the price too. Tbh I wasn't a fan of the onion rings but that's probably just personal preference.

Hands down the tastiest burger I've ever had. The pastrami on the burger, what a concept btw, was just right. Even the fries were delicious and the right texture. So good it made me mad I had to go to Salt Lake City for such a great meal! I'll be back!

However, if you come, just get the burger. I tried their signature, crown, burger burger, which is a cheeseburger with pastrami on top! Pretty good for fast food. It's huge for the price, and pretty tasty, but obviously cheap ingredients, over cooked meat and soggy toppings. The fries are pretty good! Crispy and fluffy and very salty, I liked the sweet potato fries better than the regular fries. They also sell chili fries, which it's a heart attack in a plate - kind of gross in my opinion, but they obviously tasted good Last one at least, did gyro - extremely dried chicken covered in white. It seem to be at Satsuki sauce, but that he said like a combination of mayo and yogurt. Super stale bread and sad tomato slices.

walking in we did not know what to expect. The style feels like it was high end in 70's with a Taco Bell floor. The food was amazing and the service was friendly, helpful and quick! We got the pastrami burger because that's what they are known for. Man we wish we had known about this place at the beginning of our week stay and not discovered it our last day in town! It is completely worth the stop. The decor is unique and fun. Check it out!

Been going here for about 9 years, always go here after a game or seeing the temple, great service, the employees are nice and friendly, the ambiance kinda feels old but I can deal with that, the food is great, great fires and burgers, and all the stuff on the menu seems yummy, but the reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because when I ordered the crown burger, I wasn't aware that they gave me the pastrami Goliath, I wasn't aware that the crown burger comes with pastrami, I thought it was a normal burger with lettuce tomato and cheese, but I got my burger and was surprised by the pastrami behemoth, couldn't get the smell and taste of pastrami off my burger and off my tongue.

First stop after flying into Salt Lake City! I absolutely recommend dinning in and enjoying the classic decor. I love the fry sauce, onion rings, and crown burger. They have a clean restaurant and bathrooms. Fast, friendly service too!

One of my favorite burger joints in SLC. The Crown Burger is a classic with a delicious burger topped with pastrami ... wow! My go to fav is the Mushroom Swiss Burger -- add fry sauce and you're good to go! Fries are great again with the fry sauce. Restaurant is clean with a bit of old decor. Plenty of seating on busy days. Service is friendly and helpful!

This is the place to come for a burger!! The crown/Jr crown burger is the best burger I've ever had!! The fries are amazing as well as everything on their menu!

The service is a bit slow here, but it is worth it, that is for sure. The burgers are really solid, great French fries, great onion rings. The real attraction, though, is how cool the dining area is. I really felt like I was transported back 50 years and it was awesome. The dining room is clean, so it wasn't just "not updated" but it conveyed a classic look that is never around anymore. It was a lot of fun.

absolutely exceptional service I called up and talked to from. He told me breakfast is still being served in a very kind manner professional, and I usually get the mountain of Apollo and it came to my table looking like something out of a magazine. This is incredible. The toast is done perfectly and this location is incredible. I want to come here every day I would if I could thanks again and keep up the good work and keep loving that local vibe.

This is a nice vintage restaurant with awesome food. Food is made to order and cooked on an open grill. Burgers are massive and the fries are outstanding. The service was fast and you order at the counter and get it when your numbers called. Well worth the stop in Salt Lake City.

The origin of the pastrami burger is up for debate, but not when it comes to its origins within Utah. Crown Burger takes the prize here. Crown Burger put it in the map and there have been many imitators since. When it comes to cities that become famous for specific foods, it usually ends up that others come after and build on quality of the original. Pat's was the first Phili cheesesteak, but you'll now find better cheesesteaks in Phili. (But still go try one at Pat's, you won't regret it). However, that's not the case with the pastrami burger. Crown Burger's pastrami burger is still one of the best.

The local delicacy of Salt Lake City is pastrami burgers with Crown and Apollo as the main spots. I had already eaten at Apollo so now it was time to compare with Crown. When I walked in I was drawn by the interior design and overall decor. There are nice big chairs and tables that feel like royalty would sit in them (not surprised given the name). It also feels like an old school fast food spot with the open kitchen and the crazy operation in the back. I ordered the crown burger ($7.39) and small fries ($2.49) as I got similar things at Apollo. The burger was really good and I could just taste the meatiness and cheesiness of the burger. The pastrami is not as salty as Apollo's which I think is fine. For some reason the flavors of the burger reminded me of Burger King but way way better. I really couldn't get enough of the burger and ate it all in about 5 minutes. I thought the fries were just okay though; I preferred the ones at Apollo more as they were a little saltier and crispier. The fry sauce was slightly better with the pickles in it and was closer to the In-N-Out spread than I thought the Apollo one was. My verdict: I prefer the burger at Crown Burger and I prefer the fries at Apollo. Both are good and you really can't go wrong with either one but if you are so inclined like I was, I recommend doing a taste test to compare. It's just another reason to eat more pastrami burgers!

I love burgers and pastrami. You know what? Why not combine the two and make a delicious treat? That's apparently what happens here and I'm all about it. The burger was delightful and cooked to perfection. They do know how to make some good stuff. Their fry sauce is pretty darn good. Tangy, sweet, and creamy goodness. It reminded me of this andalouse sauce that you would get with frites out in Belgium. I've been trying to find a similar sauce around the U.S. and I think I've found the one!

I don't get the hype man. Decent enough but at least the same food quality as Astro Burger, but way more expensive & worse service. First of all, just from my order and observing some other orders, the whole staff is the companeros and if you are a gabacho I get the distinct feeling they don't care for you too much due to definite difference in customer reception. Great city to pick with that attitude but OK. I wanted a combo but couldn't see the price at a scan of the menu so I just ordered it blind thinking it'd be about what Astro and Apollo charge (like $5) ... nope it was more like $8, so if you want just a single cheeseburger in a basic combo it's almost 15 bucks. Man I could have got a whole other burger for less than the combo. I guess expect $20 if you want a combo with a double burger or one of the fancier ones. The cheeseburger patty is slightly thicker than those other places but I stress SLIGHTLY. I wouldn't say it tasted any better than Astro at least, fries are the same thing too but a little fewer in quantity. And despite the insane combo prices, you can't refill your drink here.

Food was delicious. I had the crown burger because pastrami on a hamburger is "too much" of a good thing--in the best possible way! Not only met my expectations, but exceeded them! A great hamburger. The service was excellent and fast. The restaurant was clean and inviting. I would go again!

Crown Burger is always the best especially the pastrami. Always a hit before and after an Utah sporting event. They need to expand Crown Burgers to Colorado.

Excellent burgers and service but the price point is getting to the point it makes you wonder why you are eating fast food? Fry sauce is excellent and I still think this is one of the best burgers in America.... Pastrami and high quality burgers.... Fries are excellent... if it wasn't close to $30 for burgers for lunch it would be 5 stars for sure!

Checked on the internet, it says they close at 10:30, called to double check and the rudest girl answers. I tell her the internet says 10:30 she says "it doesn't matter, we are close now" and hangs up on me.

I haven't been to this place since I was little. It looks really old from the outside but it is still the same neo-medieval on the inside. The food was probably the best burger I have ever had. I love good old fashion burgers but this really tops any/all burgers I have had!! The onion rings were basic but the sauce made them good! Who can compare to an angus burger with pastrami?!? Thank you guys!!! I will be coming back again :)

Service awesome and food so good that burger fell apart all over me. Fries are amazing!
