I am just back from spending six nights at the Crown City Inn. My room was clean and had everything I needed. The bed was very comfortable; the shower had abundant hot water. I especially appreciated the lamp on the night table that was powerful enough to use for reading in bed. Most places stick in a 40 watt bulb and that is so annoying if you like to read. The room had a desk with chair, and two other sitting chairs, a three-drawer dresser, a large hanging area with plenty of hangers, an iron, spare pillows and blankets, a tv, a mini fridge, a small microwave and a coffee maker. The high ceiling on my second-floor room gave it a very roomy feel. The a/c worked well. I used one of the inn's free bicycles for an early morning ride; I never got to the tiny pool. The seating area around the pool was full of loud people every time I went by the pool.
The bistro was good; a bit pricey for breakfast, but it's Coronado in August and that's the norm. I had two breakfasts there. The wait staff are terrific, and even made up a breakfast "to go" for me one morning. The inn provides daily housekeeping. I arrived back each day to a made bed, a full set of fresh towels and a clean room.
The only drawback to my stay were some other guests. This Inn is in a horseshoe shape around a small courtyard/parking lot. Sound carries very clearly across the open space and echoes off the building walls. On two evenings, large parties had gathered outside on the walkway between their rooms, drinking, laughing and talking loudly. They shouted back and forth, and kept all their doors open, so that I could also hear the music and other partiers who were inside. I asked them to keep the party inside and to close their doors, but they ignored my request and were quickly right back to their boisterous noise level. I mentioned this to the front desk when I checked out, and all I got was a shrug and a comment that there were a lot of weddings in town and that's what wedding guests do.
