Rooms were clean, service was good. Location was great about 2 minutes to base, walking distance to many restaurants and shops about 15 minutes to San Diego. Only issue was our A/c didn’t cool greatly but we didn’t mention it. Would stay there again.

Google
The Crown City Inn is a cute little hotel! The staff are friendly. The rooms are adorable. The restaurant is tasty (though I was disappointed they didn't have turkey or chicken sausage/bacon). However, it was freezing in my room when I checked in, and took more than 12 hours to really warm up. Once it got warm, it was REALLY warm (but fine once I turned heat back down). Mattress was a bit firmer than my preference and a bit uneven. The pool is heated! They have connected rooms available - nice for bigger families. I would most likely stay again.

Google
Great room, very clean. The staff is the nicest, everyone I talked to. Parking is available. Will definitely return. They have a pool and bikes, but it was cold in my trip, so I did not use it. Location is key. They also have a restaurant.

Google
A cute and well maintained place to stay on Coronado. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, rooms were clean (small but cozy), and there are several private parking spaces for guests to use in addition to public street parking. The location was great and it was quiet for being right on Orange Ave. They have a bistro attached that we didn’t get to eat at, but it was steadily busy and smelled like great food. I’m glad I found this place in my searches-would recommend staying here!

Lindsay

Google
Positive: This is my favorite hidden gem on Coronado! No extra resort fees or parking fees. They have bikes, wagons and beach chairs to borrow for free. Walking distance to food and fun! Negative: ""

Neil Cernitz

Google
The ideal place to stay in Coronado, equidistant between the ferry and the Hotel Del. Very quaint and comfortable. And, love the afternoon cookies!

Elena Kutanova

Google
This is our favorite spot ever! Me, my family and my dog stay here very frequently. The staff is very friendly, rooms are clean, location is good. Only 15 minutes to both shores of the island.

Google
Just finished my stay here and the room was gorgeous with a great shower and very comfortable bed. Most of all the workers here were so kind to set up a birthday card for me and some balloons. I feel so grateful to have found this place and will be returning thank you!!! Also very close to great locations like the beach and the ferry!

Sonia C.

Yelp
What a wonderful little secret we found in this place! Location is fantastic being right in the middle of Orange St. Amenities are good, and rooms are clean. The afternoon cookies are so yummy-- not the store bought stuff. Front desk staff is great-- both the am and pm people have been there for years. Can't wait to return!

Beth Q.

Yelp
Charming room that was perfect for our one-night stay in late January 2025. Everything was very clean and amenities were fine. Loved the shower, but the toilet was a small round seat and pretty dated. We appreciated them accommodating an early check-in at 2 p.m. and enjoyed the fresh-brewed coffee in the lobby. The inn's restaurant (Crown Bistro) is fantastic! We loved our breakfast and great service. (BTW, their Valentine's Day dinner menu looked awesome!) Our only complaint is that there was a skylight in our room, which abruptly woke us up as soon as the sun rose at 6:45 a.m. It fully lit up the room as if we had turned on an overhead lamp, which was really disappointing. That would be the only reason I would not stay again.

Tania C.

Yelp
Lovely place. First time coming here for breakfast. We sat outdoors and it was comfy. Food was lovely and service was very nice. We had a great time. Price was good as well, which is really strange these days. If you are in the area, you have to try them out. Let me know your experience. I bet, you won't be disappointed.

Victoria S.

Yelp
Pleasant place to stay in Coronado! Pet friendly. A little far of a walk to the village - but not bad. Nice little outdoor breakfast place outside.

Betsey G.

Yelp
What a delightful little hotel! Perfect comfortable clean accommodations for the pups and us. Walk to many locations - easy parking. Delicious afternoon cookies for guests. Can borrow beach stuff - towels wagon etc Room was on the small side but well laid out. Housekeeping was exceptional. Love the outdoor rockers! Had dog dish in room and nice treat packs for our 2 fur babies. We will be back!

Amber C.

Yelp
So cute, clean, and friendly staff! My husband and I stayed for a couple of nights with our doggie (his first vacation!) and we loved it! Great location! One of the cleanest hotel rooms I have ever seen! The lovely lady at the front desk gave us a cute little goody bag for our doggie with treats, a ball, and extra poopy bags. Inside the room, there was a mat with a water/food bowl combo for our pup. The fridge and microwave were perfect for our snacks and leftovers. The bathroom had a really nice shower! We didn't have a chance to try the bistro, but we will next time! We would love to stay again, and definitely recommend!

Louis D.

Yelp
Super Charming, Perfect location, Quaint, Cozy and Clean!!! Even the dog was impressed!! Upon arriving, we were greeted with a huge and warm welcome! Even the dog got a welcome package, consisting of treats, doggy bags and his new favorite toy!!! Parking was super easy and convenient, from courtyard parking, to street to alleyway, there was always a place to park! We began our morning at "The Bistro" which served amazing and great quality food with the same ambience as its rooms. With Crown Inn being centrally located on Coronado, it's perfect distance to both sides of the island. Half a mile to Hotel Del and half a mile to the Ferry/Boardwalk area. Each direction offered an array of restaurants and bars leaving the dining options endless and all extremely walkable. And if you wanna go to any other attractions, everything is within 15 minutes driving distance l of the Crown Inn I will absolutely be staying here again for another quick getaway to my favorite destination in San Diego. 5 stars across the board!!!

Timothy C.

Yelp
I stay here every time I come to San Diego The staff are great and easy to contact if one needs anything. Great location with a fantastic bistro. There are bikes you can use and a swimming pool. Only negative might be parking?

Linda W.

Yelp
Beautiful, clean and so friendly! Perfect location in a gorgeous town. Will come back again and again

Nancy C.

Yelp
Had a short midweek stay. Can't say enough positive things about this quaint, little gem. You have to stay here to understand. Friendly staff, clean, comfortable rooms, great location, yummy restaurant.

Kristin Leigh M.

Yelp
Best place to stay on Coronado! We stayed here during the San Diego Half Marathon in 2021. Has never stayed on Coronado before -- only visited for the day. What I really love about this place: - great rates! can't beat them - such a quaint and cute property - there is a restaurant on site. we didn't eat there (almost did - but they were closing for a week during our stay) - it appears they have bikes to use, although we didn't take advantage of them - far enough away from things for it to not be too crowded, but close enough that everything is walkable!! Highly recommend staying here. I almost hate to review it since I selfishly don't want it to become too popular. Note: It appears that weekend require a two night stay. 2021: 54/100

Mike M.

Yelp
I really liked that the Lady at the front desk, I cannot remember her name went out of her way to make the stay memorable m. I planned a stay for our anniversary and she even helped my open my wine bottle and made to room look nice for my wife's surprise. I stayed in a room with a jacuzzi and it was phenomenal. Really clean and homey. I will still hear again. The also have a little bistro and the door was really good. We had the surf and turf eggs Benedict.

Holly R.

Yelp
My husband and I loved our stay at Crown City Inn! It's an old school motel style kind of place but was very clean and comfortable. We got a room on the top floor and it was nice and quiet. The air conditioner was loud I guess but it's just white noise so it was fine. The bed was really comfortable and the bathroom well stocked. The staff was all so nice and easy to talk to. They even let us borrow a bottle opener to take to the beach. They also had some beach chairs, sand buckets and boogie boards to use at the beach and lots of beach cruisers to use. The pool is very small but nice. We are at the cafe for breakfast and the French toast was delicious- highly recommend! I would definitely stay here again.

P S.

Yelp
LOVE Small but lovely pool Mission-style design Floral landscaping Washer and dryer - perfect timing during my trip! LIKE Good strong coffee Friendly-ish staff Bistro on property Window that opens in bathroom Large shower Clean Bikes Convenient location MEH Nobody wearing masks during a COVID surge Small parking lot and narrow driveway ICK Carpeting Styrofoam coffee cups

Theresa S.

Yelp
We have stayed at almost all of the Coronado hotels (both big and small), and this will now be our go to! It is quaint and cozy, our room was spacious, the shower in our room was fabulous, and the bed was very comfortable. It is centrally located on Orange Ave, with a short walk to the Ferry Landing and it's shops, and a little longer walk to Coronado Beach and the Hotel Del. But if you dont want to walk, you can use one of their beach cruiser bikes for free. The Bistro next door has a wonderful breakfast and is very affordable!! Cant wait to come back!

Todd T.

Yelp
What a jewel!!! My wife has been coming here for over 25 years. Awesome staff and beautiful property. Ask for room 221. Thank me later...

Jackie S.

Yelp
Crown city Inn is the perfect spot to stay on Coronado Island. Everyone who works there is so nice and helpful. The rooms were very clean and cute. It's close to everything you can walk to the beach. Also in the summer they have a free shuttle that goes from one end of Coronado to the other. Also the Inn offers free bikes, ( and helmets) boogy boards, umbrellas and chairs that you can take to the ocean. It also has a cute bistro connected to it. The breakfast there was amazing. If I could give the rating more than 5 stars I would. Can't wait to come back. Thank you Linda, Keith and Marsha!!

Brad C.

Yelp
If you are going to visit Coronado, you would be best served to stay here ! It is quaint and charming with its decor and setting. The rooms are clean and well equipped. Although the units are on a main thoroughfare, it is VERY QUIET at night ! The bikes on site are FREE to use ! There is a mosaic tiled pool. If there is any question or the slightest problem, they jump to it ! The bistro cafe next door has the BEST menu and every choice that we made was very satisfying. I hope to return soon !!!

Alexandra L.

Yelp
My husband and I had 2 very pleasant stays in this little place, 3 years ago and this 5th of july. Rooms were cute, clean & comfy. Service was great, too! Thank you Marsha and Keith for being accomodating. We like the fact that they rent free bikes. We'd definitely recommend this spot or come back again

Linda V.

Yelp
Efficient use of space for these small rooms. Clean, comfortable beds, good air conditioning and tv. The thing I appreciated most was their oversized wastebaskets in rooms. No one does that and it's so annoying. The location was great. The only thing I didn't like was the lack of parking. The best thing to do is park on street.

Joanna V.

Yelp
We joined 3 families at Crown City Inn this weekend utilizing 3 rooms and we really enjoyed our stay. It has a quaint feeling of charm with details (such as painted room numbers, gorgeous wood doors and large trash cans) and offers a lot of value for the cost. The parking is free and there are several spots in the inner court yard, but I chose not to deal with a small parking radius and busy intersection to exit from. I chose to use the other parking behind hotel or on street. It's all free and we never had a problem finding a space. Two awesome things were the free beach activity loans (lots of bikes, boogie boards, umbrellas, cooler, wagon...WOW!) and the attached bistro was amazing. Apparently, the locals think so too; so make sure to put your name in early and at least eat one breakfast there. Note: I didn't take the photos attached, but that is what I viewed upon my visit. Very nicely manicured property with attention to detail. Friendly and helpful staff.

Karen S.

Yelp
I love staying here it's so convenient and clean and friendly. We've stayed multiple times and every experience has always been great. It's not fancy, but it's a clean nice place to stay that's near shops restaurants and they always have coffee cookies and tea in the lobby.

Michael S.

Yelp
Love love love this place! All staff is wonderful but Keith is a cut above the rest! Book it!

J G.

Yelp
A wonderful place for brunch. Great food drinks and service. We come here every year during our visit. It earns all 5 stars !!

Alex P.

Yelp
One of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. Everything was A plus, the owners and management leave no stone unturned. They think of every little detail to keep the customer completely happy. Great customer service, amazing restaurant on the ground floor of the space. Can't wait to go back to San Diego and stay here again.

Jeff V.

Yelp
What quaint little motel! We stayed 3 nights over Labor Day weekend. It's just a 15 minute walk to the beach or the bay side of the island. Only 10 minute walk to shops or restaurants. The rooms are nice comfortable. It has a nice little pool to cool off in and there is also a barbecue grill at the pool if you want to save some money and cook out. They have beach chairs, beach umbrellas, small cooler and lots of bikes you can use for free. The bikes you need to check out, everything thing else is first come first serve. They are so convenient to easily get around. The Bistro restaurant at the hotel is nice and really good. We only had breakfast but the options for breakfast was delicious. I will definitely be back. What a great stay!

Swati C.

Yelp
Clean, very comfy, and really welcoming staff! The location is outstanding - an easy walk to the beach, the ferry landing, and great restaurants on Orange Ave. The pool is small but lovely. The attached bistro has excellent food and service. The bed was very comfy, and the room was cute - nothing fancy, but had everything you would need. They also had a welcome goodie bag for our toddler when we checked in, and free cookies in the lobby. Bottom line - couldn't have asked for a better stay, and would love to come back.

Lyubov K.

Yelp
Wonderful little hotel. Cozy, clean and charming. Staff is very friendly. A few minutes from the promenade overlooking San Diego downtown. This is a perfect place to travel with your kids and dogs. Yes, it is dog friendly with NO breed or weight restrictions. I absolutely love this hotel and next time We are in San Diego area, we are staying here for sure! My three year old loved it (she got a toy and a cookie!). I loved it and my dog, who will come along next time, will love it too.

Kev P.

Yelp
Booked it for a last-minute trip and so glad we did! Good price and great owners. Room was nice and cozy and the Crown Bistro is great to eat at. Will definitely be back!

Joanna K.

Yelp
I was not sure what I was getting into when we booked this hotel reservation, but we were extremely pleased with everything. The room was very comfortable, clean and updated. The service on the property was very friendly and helpful. The attached CROWN BISTRO has amazing food options at very reasonable prices. It is very popular with the locals though, so get your name in early if you want to avoid a wait. There were several parking spots in the courtyard plus ample parking on the street or behind the hotel. And there was no fee for parking. A huge bonus was having bikes and beach equipment (see photo) available to borrow. The walk to Coronado beach was about 20 minutes or a few minutes drive. And the walk in the other direction to Ferry Landing was a bit less. You're basically smack in the middle of Coronado on the main street so you have access to everything with a brief walk or a quick drive. The pool is relatively small but it had some fun play equipment and we enjoyed it several times. I will definitely stay here in the future.

JP P.

Yelp
We live on Coronado Island and have had breakfast at the bistro for years. Our family was coming to visit to celebrate Christmas before leaving for Austria for a month after Thanksgiving. I called the inn to see if we could get in early and decorate before their arrival. They gave us a great room and let us in early so we could put up a Christmas tree, decorations and situate the presents. Thank you! It is hard to find real service in the hospitality business these days. They even gave us some triple A batteries we needed for the lights in the tree. The people at the front desk were amazing and took really good care of us. I will send more family to stay there while visiting us. They should have more than five stars. Great room and great pricing!

Anne H.

Yelp
This little place has been a joy to visit. Our room is clean and well appointed. Our bed was comfortable and we appreciated a pull out couch for the hubby when his snoring got too loud! The pool is a just right for the area and all had a good time gathered around. I was a little frustrated that we had to leave the pool at 10 PM when the cool breeze made it extra lovely outside and there was no other outside seating. The location is a bit far from the beach but the reasonable price made jumping on the free shuttle to the beach a snap. The Crown Bistro, a small cafe adjoining the hotel is reasonably priced spot for breakfast. One of the coolest things about Coronado is the liquor stores serve really good sandwiches at all hours. This place is close to several as well as Coronado Brewing. We will definitely be back.

Nicole S.

Yelp
Such a beautiful hotel with a very affordable price! The staff was so nice and the beds were the most comfortable! They have a pool and bikes as well. Highly recommend if you're staying in San Diego. Great location and friendly community. The cafe downstairs was also very nice!

Sheila M.

Yelp
Really beautiful, well maintained and quaint hotel! Our room was nicely sized, very clean, with a touch of elegance to it, and very comfortable. It's got a fridge and a microwave which is very convenient. It's pet friendly (yey!), but you won't smell and definitely won't see #1 & #2 of the said furry babies anywhere. But what really impressed my spouse and I was that, when we checked in, the tv wasn't working. We called the front desk, and instead of sending a maintenance personnel, the very nice lady (I think she's the manager on duty, sorry I forgot to ask her name), IMMEDIATELY went up to our unit herself to check on our concern! That in itself is an excellent example of great customer service! We frequently travel, either using our time share or staying at hotels. Nobody had done this first hand service to us. So this simple yet memorable gesture of the nice lady, is really commendable! We would definitely go back there and refer this gorgeous and affordable place with equally charming, very friendly and accommodating staff! Great job everyone!

Jim S.

Yelp
The staff at CCI is very friendly and helpful. Seems they've all been working there for a long time and really care about the hotel and guests. Rooms are clean, well appointed and quiet. We had a wonderful stay over July 4th 2018

Elspeth G.

Yelp
We had a great couple of nights here. The place is clean, cozy, and friendly. The affordability doesn't hurt, nor does the nice bistro that is attached. Front desk staff were kind and friendly. I highly recommend this place.

Henry L.

Yelp
It was clean. Internet was only ok. It was definitely one of the more economical places to stay in Coronado. But I didn't like how noisy it is considering it's off the main street and even in a inside room you can hear some of the big trucks rumbling by. The one-way-at-a-time, narrow entryway for their tiny parking lot is an accident waiting to happen. Just OK. i would return if I needed to be economicial in Coronado

Rachel C.

Yelp
I stay here every time I come to coronado. Very good hotel at a great price. The rooms are always clean and the staff is very friendly. The thing I will say (which is really a comment for all of Coronado) is that I wish they had stronger air conditioning; however, I think there was a heat wave this summer

Caleb S.

Yelp
My wife and I were visiting some family and stayed here. We really enjoyed it! The staff was extremely pleasant. The lobby always has coffee, tea, and cookies available for guests. We stayed in room 208, and it was perfect for what we were needing. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was nice. The crib that they brought to our room for our baby worked out really well. The only thing that we wished was different was the temperature control of the room. The window unit air conditioner was extremely loud. And because of Coronado weather it was necessary during the day, but the heater was necessary at night. Maybe it was poorly insulated, but I ended up having to turn the air off in the evening and would wake up in the middle of the night and need to turn the heater on. That said though, we really enjoyed our stay. For the price and the wonderful staff, It was worth having to mess with the temperature throughout our stay. Also, make sure to eat at the attached restaurant; it was exceptionally tasty.

Roslyn A.

Yelp
This is a comfortable and clean motel/hotel. It was probably your typical courtyard motel that was renovated so the bathroom has new tiles and fixtures and the room is clean. Also nice comfortable white sheets and pillows. The drawback is the WiFi is terrible. The breakfast is not included but it's adjacent to a restaurant that has pretty good breakfast although will set you back $10-15 a plate. There is very few parking in the courtyard so you either check in early to get parking or park on the street.

Jeff H.

Yelp
My family has had an opportunity to stay here twice during summer vacations out west. Their friendly staff and clean accommodations keep us coming back!

Nelson A.

Yelp
If you're cheap and in Coronado, this is the place to be. Assuming you also don't need quiet to sleep, and are the kind of voyeur who likes to hear other rooms' conversations. Perhaps the renovations will improve things. However, we were woken up each morning at 5am to the pitter patter of 750lbs children playing basketball. At around 8:00am the sound was unbearable, as it was joined by the sweet siren song of a tile saw (in case you're unaware as to the sound that makes, it's something like "bzzzzzzRRRRRzzzzzz", only ten thousand times louder than that voice in your head). Add to that the carpet which still contained a prior guest's M&M, and the dirty shoe prints in the bathroom upon arrival, and suffice it to say, this was not my favorite hotel of all time.

Carla H.

Yelp
I am just back from spending six nights at the Crown City Inn. My room was clean and had everything I needed. The bed was very comfortable; the shower had abundant hot water. I especially appreciated the lamp on the night table that was powerful enough to use for reading in bed. Most places stick in a 40 watt bulb and that is so annoying if you like to read. The room had a desk with chair, and two other sitting chairs, a three-drawer dresser, a large hanging area with plenty of hangers, an iron, spare pillows and blankets, a tv, a mini fridge, a small microwave and a coffee maker. The high ceiling on my second-floor room gave it a very roomy feel. The a/c worked well. I used one of the inn's free bicycles for an early morning ride; I never got to the tiny pool. The seating area around the pool was full of loud people every time I went by the pool. The bistro was good; a bit pricey for breakfast, but it's Coronado in August and that's the norm. I had two breakfasts there. The wait staff are terrific, and even made up a breakfast "to go" for me one morning. The inn provides daily housekeeping. I arrived back each day to a made bed, a full set of fresh towels and a clean room. The only drawback to my stay were some other guests. This Inn is in a horseshoe shape around a small courtyard/parking lot. Sound carries very clearly across the open space and echoes off the building walls. On two evenings, large parties had gathered outside on the walkway between their rooms, drinking, laughing and talking loudly. They shouted back and forth, and kept all their doors open, so that I could also hear the music and other partiers who were inside. I asked them to keep the party inside and to close their doors, but they ignored my request and were quickly right back to their boisterous noise level. I mentioned this to the front desk when I checked out, and all I got was a shrug and a comment that there were a lot of weddings in town and that's what wedding guests do.

Page G.

Yelp
9 hours before arrival, my father and I made a reservation. The man on the phone offered us an even more discounted rate than I found online, and assured us that late check-in (Read: 3am) would be no problem. We arrived to find a delightful little inn with lots of flowers and a very quaint feel. The rooms were clean, the bathrooms were small yet functional, and the beds were quite comfortable. We spent a total of 8 hours in the room, so I can't really speak to lasting comfort. The only issue is parking, but I suppose when you're on an island, space is at a premium. I would definitely stay here again, for a quick 8 hour stay, or even a little more. Delightful.

Candie S.

Yelp
Every time we're in Coronado, I choose to stay here. It's quaint and perfect for its value. The rooms are very clean and the staff is very friendly. You're walking distance from shops and restaurants plus you have complimentary parking on-site. They let you rent out beach cruisers for the day as well, at no charge. Total bonus. Though they do not have internet access in-room, they have a computer you can use in the lobby to look up directions or check emails. If you feel the need to be jacked in 24/7 ... you're walking distance from Starbucks, which offers free wi-fi.

Tracey P.

Yelp
I'm so glad that I found this quiet little inn! I happened to catch a great deal on Priceline and paid less than $100, very nice! The staff does a great job and goes out of their way to please and the rooms, although small, are comfortable and extremely clean! The bathroom is very clean and updated with a large shower. This will be my hotel for every visit to Coronado!

Curtis L.

Yelp
Excellent value, location, amenities and friendly staff, all compel me to update my previous review from 3 stars to 5 stars.

Sarah V.

Yelp
My mom and I stay here when ever we do our girls trip to Coronado. This is such a great little place. It's clean, great location, the staff are very friendly and accommodating. They have a little Bistro connected to the hotel with great breakfast and they'll even do room service if you so desire. We have stayed at the Hotel Del Coronado before and actually enjoy staying here more and visiting the Hotel Del. It's a short walk to town and the beach and there's never an issue with parking. They also have bikes and beach accessories you can borrow.

Sonia R.

Yelp
Cozy homey feel , love this place! Nicest personal people , never got tired of my questions . LOVED LOVED riding bikes! Ive also stayed at their sister hotel in santa Barbara, fabulous place also.cookies every afternoon in lobby were sooooooo good.
