A Delicious Guide To the History and Science of Food

"Though it may conjure up storybook images of quaint Vermont shacks, maple is actually a booming industry, aided by the syrup’s popularity among paleo types and maple water’s incarnation as a trendy new functional beverage. At Crown Maple, the second largest maple syrup producer in the United States, sap-farming is now a high-tech affair, involving satellite surveys and real estate scouts.  This episode of Gastropod takes a behind-the-scenes tour of Crown Maple’s “sugar chateau” to learn how the thin greenish sap is sucked out of the nearby forest and boiled into syrup. Update as of April 2018: Crown Maple is no longer regularly open to the public, but does host special events throughout the year where the public can visit." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

Absolutely loved the location. Its a gorgeous estate which offers maple syrup tasting. We also tried the food which was average. Would highly recommend if in the area for spectacular fall foliage views.

State of the art maple syrup farm. We went to their fall festival and hiked the farm. The trees are beautiful now (October). We tasted the maple syrup and sugar - delicious. We bought the maple syrup aged in bourbon barrels. Very unusual, but delicious. They are open on weekends. It's worth the drive!

On a road trip in the fall, we came across this wonderful farm where you can taste the varieties of maple syrup. Beautiful estate with a cafe and outdoor fire pit. Crown Maple is worth every penny for their maple syrup is delicious.

Fantastic maple syrup but they need to update their website (and Mandava’s too) to say they’re closed to the public now!! Also removing the top reviews here with all the photos of the tasting room would help. Just went today and it’s all locked up.

If you're a truck driver delivering freight. The best way to get there is 684 to 22 to 55.and follow GPS. they don't have a dock but they do a better job then any wrshe with dock.37 min to unload 22 pallets.

I very nice place! The building is rustic modern and I loved the framework, doorways, and stonework of the building! The pancakes we're ok but the wonderful syrup made it better. Service was good but the shop was a bit overpriced but had a variation of items you could buy. We we're told that the 2 for $25 deal for the 12oz bottles only applied for the same bottle but we still bought it and glad we did as the maple syrup is delicious!!

Absolutely beautiful estate house and grounds. Great selection of beer and brunch offerings. The coffee is excellent. The prices in the shop are surprisingly reasonable. All of the staff members were very nice and helpful. They have an outdoor fire pit with complimentary marshmallow roasting. I am definitely coming back in the fall.

Visited on a Midwinter Sunday. No tours available that day however staff arranged for a private tasting for our group of 4. Great selection of maple products in gift shop. Delicious brunch consisting of a variety of maple themed Foods. Beer and wine available . On weekends they have a fire pit in front with marshmallows to toast. It was nice enough outside for us to do a brief hike around the property through the woods near some small ponds with a great View through the Hills towards Connecticut. Will go back some time to explore more of their trails.
