"This gleaming glass tower, which takes on a subtle S shape, serves as a beacon of urban chic along Melbourne’s Southbank. Its vast lobby sets the tone with double-height ceilings, a seemingly never-ending black staircase, and curving walls lined with gigantic wooden ball sculptures by Korean artist Lee Jae-Hyo. Each of the Crown Metropol’s contemporary 658 rooms is just as stylish, with floor-to-ceiling windows, specially commissioned works of art, and in most, bold design accents that include sexy black-paneled walls and smart sliding doors that lead to oversize bathrooms. The sprawling rooftop spa and leisure facilities are primed for self-care rituals, offering luxe La Prairie treatments, as well as indoor tennis courts and one of the city’s finest pools—an infinity edge beauty with prime city views—for Instagram baiting. To top it all off, a foodie extravaganza awaits with three restaurants by top Aussie chef Neil Perry, along with outposts of some of the world’s most renowned restaurants, including Dinner by Heston Blumenthal and Nobu."
"‘Ambitious’ might not even cover it. The Crown Metropol is a purpose-built 600-plus-room luxury hotel in a chic modern style, towering 28 floors over Melbourne — this, in just about any city, is the kind of project that’s becoming more and more rare. Which is a shame, considering the results. It’s a tribute to Melbourne’s hotel scene that it inspired the Crown’s owners with the confidence to pull it off. The Metropol aims to be a modern grand hotel in the vein of something like a Park Hyatt, providing a bit of homegrown competition for some of its neighbors." - Tablet Hotels
Always a pleasure staying at Crown Metropol. One of my favorite Melbourne hotels. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. The pool is fantastic if a little busy during the day. Quietens down in the evening though. I enjoyed the gym, spa couch and steam room.
Breakfast at Mr Hive is good but can get really busy as it is a large hotel. The hotel customer service is first class and welcoming from concierge/valet to reception staff. Must be so, as we've returned at least a dozen times and always to a "Welcome back" greeting that is warmly received ❤️. Keep it up.

What a great stay! |From check in and the valet to checking out and the valet again all was fantastic ! ||Check in quick and easy |The room was bright and warm on a cold Melbourne day which was great !|Opened all the curtains in the luxe king and the room felt huge |Room service is fantastic . |Caesar salad with prawns for a change and the chicken satay skewers for dinner , fruit platter and chocolate raspberry bombs for dessert . |The Caesar was great lots of flavour and white anchovies . The only thing that was wrong was the egg on the Caesar wasn’t runny but hardset |Still good though ! |Satay was great , the fruit platter were all perfectly picked and the raspberry chocolate bomb was the bomb! |A relaxing night with the city skyline and lights a great nights sleep and then off again in the morning to go back to reality . If there was anyone else next door or on my floor I heard no one and the peace and quiet was amazing |Thankyou crown and all your staff for a wonderful stay |Can’t wait to come back |Great meals great bed and pillows and a calming

This is our 1st time here. The rooms are very good. The bed is huge and very comfortable. The air con is set to a perfect temperature. The shower is very good. The general furnishings are in good condition. The small fridge is so packed with mini-bar items there is no room for anything we wanted to keep cool. The min-bar prices are excessive. The block out blinds keep the room dark after the sun is up.

Please don’t stay here.
I was kicked out for asking if I could stay here.
The manager decided that they didn’t like me & they kicked me out.
No reason given.
I was just told “get out” and then called a derogatory “champ”
They wouldn’t even let me sit down to wait for an uber.
They said: you don’t have a booking you cannot sit.
I said: “I’ll make one” & they said no.
Then they asked what i did for a living after being rude & nasty.
The location is awesome though.
Them making me cry was not ok.
Edit: if you want me to change my review; you’re gonna have to fire those people, cause abuse is never ok.
Especially to someone who nicely asks if “you have any hotel rooms available”
If you want to welcome me back somehow that would be nice to; it’s up to whoever reads this though to do something.
Cause if it happens to me; other celebrities aren’t gonna feel comfortable, cause they are my friends in the creative industry.
I don’t recommend this place unless you want location.
Please stay at the other hotels in crown if you want to where the concierge is full of nice people.
This made me feel very uncomfortable & unwelcome in Melbourne.

The Crown Metropol has a lot to like, chiefly one of the most spacious, comfortable, attractive and well-designed rooms I've ever experienced. The common areas are attractive, and the 27th-floor pool is spectacular.||The location in Southbank will appeal to those who want to be near casinos, luxury shopping and/or the convention and exhibition centre. Those who want a more authentic Melbourne experience would be better served to book a hotel on the north side of the Yarra River.||The hotel's main areas for improvement are not hard to address: the biggest is service, which was consistently slow. Guest services staff repeatedly over-promised and under-delivered. For example, I called to find out if a package had arrived; the answer was yes, and it would be delivered to my room. More than two hours later, I went to the front desk - braving the usual queue for service - and no one had any idea where it was. This happened consistently: simple requests often seemed to flummox the staff. Another basic thing: in a city famous for great coffee, there's no coffee maker in the room - just a kettle and instant coffee powder! So easy to fix. May the Metropol work on this!

Great location, stayed here for an event, Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb. Pool is really nice, cool and hot pool beside it. In the change rooms there is a 38degree sitting pool and sauna.
Our room had a lovely view of the city.
Rooms are quiet, cant hear from other rooms.
We had a small bar fridge, kettle, iron and board. A draw had a selection of teas, x4 sugar x2 baged coffee x3 instant coffee, x1 milk. We would of liked to of had another milk and more coffee and sugar.

Crazy.. a “5 star” hotel that doesn’t allow you to use the amenities until your room is ready. Spending thousands for a weekend away with five family groups spread across various Crown hotels in Southbank and we fly in at 10:30am and you can’t even access the pool before your room is ready. Valet parking also a joke. Not family friend and service is non existent.

The Good:
- Clean and Spacious Room
- The tram station is one stop away from the city’s free tram zone loop. So location is prime.
- Pretty complete gym equipment. They even have barbell
- Heated indoor pool
- If you go out through the food court, you will be right at the riverwalk
- Their breakfast has chocolate fondue
The Bad:
- Old and outdated rooms
- They do not have enough electrical plugs
- No bidet, no spray showerhead. This is a little problem for Asians who don’t think wiping after you do your business is enough.
- The Breakfast is definitely lacking in diversity and selection.
○ Fruits are not as sweet
○ No egg station
○ Only brewed coffee is available and they are not exactly great

Yelp
Highly recommended!
Sits near the south bank area.
Easy walk to the attractions. Check in was easy. The rooms are on point. The valet parking doesn't take 45 minutes to retrieve your car.
The lifts are quick, the housekeeping is great.
I had a corner room overlooking the city of Melbourne out of one window, and a water view out of the other.
Price matches the amenities.
Highly recommended!

Yelp
I love the hotel but just wished that they had to double beds in separate rooms instead of together.

Yelp
It is a bit overpriced, but had Very nice, spacious room. bartenders at the skybar were young and clueless however.

Yelp
We were booked here by our travel service and she made a great choice for us. The service was excellent. We were able to check in mid morning which was very helpful. The room was clean and spacious. WiFi was good. This hotel is part of a complex of several "Crown" hotels centered around a casino. Downstairs near the casino is a food court with good selection and reasonable prices.
The Crown is located near the Yarra River which has endless dining options. It is also a short walk across the river to the Central Business District.
Enjoy.

Yelp
Stayed here 4 nights with my husband in December to see a music festival.
Good points:
Very polite and friendly staff.
Room very quiet, spacious and fresh. Excellent food/room service.
Great Location. Walking distance to dfo without being in the hustle and bustle of the cbd.
The pool on level 27 was refreshing and the rooftop bar had a great ambience.
Not so good points
The shower head could do with a little bit more pressure. The several switches to the several different lights got a bit confusing.
The pool area got a bit loud at times with all the screaming kids.Would love if there were "no kids allowed" pool times to be able to enjoy in peace.

Yelp
I liked the size and style of the Metropole; but I do find its price a little hard to justify outside of special occasions especially as other high end hotels open up.
The staff at check in were good, the elevator and layout of the corridors, fitness centre, day spa, etc suffers due to the building age and changes over the years.
The overall atmosphere of the lobby is confused since it shares this with the casino / restaurants; blessing and curse, entertainment at your door; but no quite spaces to chill out.

Yelp
I'm a sucker for high thread count sheets, bottles of champagne in ice buckets, glitzy elevators and miniature toiletry kits. Forget birthday gifts, if you want to impress me just book me in to a fancy-pants hotel room with a fully stocked mini bar and a bed topped with more pillows than a human could ever require and I'll be your BFF.
Crown Metropol is a modern hotel with interesting room design and nice touches throughout. Service is efficient and accommodating (I was given a room upgrade when mentioned I was there for a special occasion) and the check out is the easiest I've ever experienced - fill in a check out slip and put it in the mail box at reception with your room key. You're out and starting your day while the rest of the hotel dwelling world is stuck in a a check-out line for 20 minutes. Win!
Venture up to "28" - their bar with fantastic views over the city before heading out to dinner in the nearby CBD or even closer Crown complex. Or order room service, pop your iPod on the docking station, crack open some champagne and enjoy a night in.

Yelp
My partner and I booked a night here to enjoy a long weekend. We waited over 30 minutes to check-in. Once we made it through, the line was twice as long behind as it was when we arrived. I understand it is busy, but when there were multiple unmanned desks, and the staff that were there seemed to disappear out the back or spend time on the phone, it is a very poor look. This is a premium hotel and should be staffed accordingly. The valet/bell staff were run ragged and it was hectic out the front too.
Once in our room we noticed the coffee table was grimy and covered in drink rings. The phone on the desk didn't work, and neither did the iron. In isolation you could forgive (though for $300 a night, maybe not!) but all together we were not impressed.
I had wanted to mention these things upon check out but the queue was ridiculous then too, so we did the express key drop check out.
They also have over charged me. Twice. I have placed numerous calls to their income audit dept. You can only leave a message that they do not return. I have now, 4 days later received a response to an email. They, without apology, refunded one of the double charges, but not the second. So the battle continues.
You don't expect these issues in an airport Ibis let alone one of Melbourne's premium hotels. I also don't believe in writing nasty reviews without first talking to staff but I have sent an email, called and left a message and filled out their customer survey. No response. We'll be in no hurry to return.

Yelp
My work put me up at the Crown Metropol, and I must say I was pretty pleased with the room. Loved the shower, loved the couch by the window, loved the TV inputs by the desk. Only thing this hotel was really missing for me was outlets closer to the bed to charge your phone.

Yelp
Crown Metropol finally brings a touch of modern to Crown's awesome Hotel options. If you have stayed at Towers which is rated as oen of the world's best be prepared for something quite different.
Metropol like Towers is connected to Crown which means you have easy access to the Casino without having to step a foot outside.
The interior of the hotel room was fantastic, and facilities world class. I stayed here with my wife and was able to take two guests in to the pool with us. The Pool is a must at Crown Metropol it is on Level 27 ( I think?!) and looks over the whole of Melbourne city. You will definitely feel like a rockstar swimming in this pool.
The only reason this hotel misses out on 5 stars is bad room service, being form Mr. Hive I expected more but received less than satisfactory breakfast.

Yelp
Can't say too many negative things about this place. The room was beautiful and the staff (particularly the guy who helped organise valet and taxis) were super nice. The check in guy was great a well. Our company travel agent booked me a govt. rate even though Im not a govt. employee and there were no issues- he quickly fixed the booking without any drama.
Stayed 2 nights for business an the only things I would change are:
1. Add a bathtub! On work trips after long days I really love a nice bath. I'd probably give it 5 stars with a bath.
2. Clean the mold out of the shower. There wasn't much but enough to notice.
3. Get nicer towels. Mine felt like they were about 5 years old. The hand towels were ok.
Bed and pillows were comfy. Nice big desk for me to work on. Would definitely stay here again... especially if work is paying.

Yelp
No porter service. Standard rooms are nice with cable tv. But no tubs in bathroom. If you like spending time in the Crown complex this hotel is gd for you. Plenty of restaurants in the complex n there is no need to go outdoors. There is a foodcourt if you want a lower cost meal.

Yelp
Already this hotel is tired. Lines as still out the door as mentioned in a previous review and I truly believe Mr Hive is the only reason this hotel still has a 4 star rating (it's nowhere near it). Our room was exactly the same as two years ago, the exhaust fan didn't work (considering the toilet is in the bathroom that's ridiculous), there was a panel missing from our ceiling in the wardrobe and when we queried the cleaners they couldn't understand English. By far Mr Hive is still MAGNIFICENT. Melbourne is a regular thing for us so we had room service 3 nights in a row and from the moment they pick up the phone to the order being on time, every time, in room dining was exceptional. The day spa has also closed down and I think that is very telling that clientele has well and truly changed. Will be the Towers from now on, if the Crown at all.

Yelp
Hotel is lively and highly convenient. Rooms large and modern and there is access to all types of bars and restaurants.
Breakfast was a huge disappointment. Unless you want the full buffet don't expect service of any kind. From anyone.
The staff don't understand that some guests want a la carte.
Finally after getting over this phenomenon i was able to order simple poached eggs & avocado. Apparently a novelty.
Arrived in separate plates?? Really.
And on plain thin sliced bread not the usual sourdough, quinoa, mock paleo, hipster trendy bread.
Coffee was ages and then begging for sweeteners.
Surprised by the lack of finish and professionalism at this hotel group.

Yelp
I've stayed at this hotel twice now and pretty happy when I know I am coming here. Nice hotel, very modern hotel itself and rooms the same. Room service is quick and the meals of good size and quality. Great location adjacent to Crown casino and in a nice area of Melbourne. Good hotel, look forward to my next visit here

Yelp
Just for the views alone this is worth all the hard earned cash we throw at it once or twice a year for celebrations anniversaries etc.

Yelp
It's a hotel with beautiful modern Roomster. The service is just rally poor . I feel like they don't really care for customer . Spa is beautiful but also find people unfriendly . Hotel has great potential if they try harder . Also to go eat in the hotel isn't so easy. It's own restaurant is closed on Sunday and Monday's which shouldn't be in 5 star hotel. To go eat you then have to walk to the water front

Yelp
Stayed here on our wedding night and the rooms have been refurbished and are gorgeous. Great buffet breakfast which was the perfect recovery.

Yelp
Metropol is hands-down my favorite place to stay in Melbourne. Service, friendliness, room service, pool, spa etc all world class. I gave 5 stars because whenever there has been an issue with my room or booking (very rare), they always appease the situation very quickly and offer some sort of compensation on their end. All us customers want is acknowledgement if an error occurs.,

Yelp
What can I say it's perfect. Amazing views, fantastic pool and spa, lovely hotel workers and nice modern and well designed rooms. It's located in a perfect place and even on a rainy there are plenty of things to do within the complex it's self. 100% coming back and I would recommend it to others.
