Crown on Darby

Get to room after being moved from one accommodation I get in and no lighting only to be placed on hold and jumped around to people on after hours to get it sorted. Turned out I needed a card key not just a code! I had to head back to reception to access their key safe and fund a spare card key. No empathy from people on phone given this was now 1.5 hours after trying to initially check in to accommodation. Room nice at least but that's it. Service could be so much netter

A hidden gem in the heart of Newcastle. Short walk to great restaurants and the centre of town. Secure undercover parking at reasonable rates. Lovely staff. Huge rooms! Absolutely brilliant!

Modern rooms even if they lacked some atmosphere. Late in our stay guests moved into studio adjoining. There was no sound buffing of their noise. It seemed like joining door allowed all sounds to flow in.

Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The room needed a good clean. Dishes in the cupboard still had food crusted on them and the air conditioner unit was mouldy. The fridge was extremely noisey.

The hotel is very conveniently located. Close to the waterfront and close to a whole lit of restaurants and bars. The rooms were very clean, although a little bit dark, if the enclosed balcony shutters were closed. We found the room a bit musty. Shower was in the bath and a bit awkward to get into it - taps to the shower also located in an awkward position. The access would not be suitable for a person with some mobility problems.

Third time staying at Crown on Darby in Newcastle nothing has changed, still a great location, very friendly staff, comfortable clean room. King size bed small kitchen with microwave & the bathroom, very modern with spa & wonderful rain shower all in a 1 bedroom apartment. Undercover parking as I said before is a little expensive but worth it.|Plenty of restaurants to eat or just have coffee|the pub is just down the road. Price wise quite reasonable, will definitely stay again.

We walked into spa apartment situated at the front, overlooking Darby street it was like going into a cave it was so dark. The bedroom was light and airy though completely different atmosphere to the rest of the apartment. Being a Friday we had anticipated that it would get a little noisy in the evening and had ear plugs just in case but we figured that most restaurants would be closing around 10pm so it wouldn’t be too bad. We were wrong because across the road was a cafe which reopened at night and they played unbelievably loud music until 1-1.30am They were meant to shut at midnight but this didn’t happen. The next morning I complained to reception and asked if there were rooms away from the front they kindly put us at the back where it was so quiet the complete opposite. So overall accommodation was ok but beware of rooms situated at the front.

Overnight stay. Receptionists were fantastic and welcoming. Beautiful comfortable rooms. Easy parking. Got to be careful when having a shower it is really slippery on the tub base. My sister in law staying in the other room said the same thing. I had to hang on to something. Otherwise it was a great overnight stay!
