Nice pools, fun slides, and great beach accessibility. Rooms are fated and dirty. Cleaning staff does not clean your room. Bring your own toilet paper because they will not replenish you until you are completely out. Our room in tower 1 was dirty upon checking in. There were toothpaste blobs in the bathroom sink, hair on the counter, and toe nail clippings on the kitchen floor. The shower drains slow, and the fan doesn't pull the moisture quickly, so the room stays humid for a while. Our sheets were never changed during our 3 day stay, and we had the same blue mark on the pillows in our bed. The pool area is nice but be prepared to stake your claim to any chair in the area early, most people will claim spots and disappear to other areas not allowing other guests to use the lounges/chairs. Would not stay here again. I would only recommend it if you get an amazing deal.

Still the place to be for family vacation. We were here 10 years ago and stayed at tower 3. Back again still same as before with easy access to the Beach and lots of water activities for young and adults. Staff are very friendly and very responsive. We do have issue on the door upon check in and it was addressed immediately. Tower 1 is much crowded you will notice in the elevator that it will take awhile it is better to walk to tower 2 and 3 and use the lever there. So far everything is good. Note that room are old but clean. Another note use to be parking was free now cost 15.00 a day.

I stayed at the Crown Reef Resort for five days, and I can honestly say it was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve ever had.|Let’s start with the pool – it was uninviting. The water was cloudy, dirty, throughout our entire stay. To make matters worse, there was inappropriate behavior happening in the pool while children were present. The porta potty near the pool reeked of urine, with a scent so strong it radiated into the surrounding area. Making it extremely hard to even enjoy the pool. There was standing pee outside of the porta potties, meaning they weren't clean consistently. Absolutely unacceptable!|The room was no better – it reeked of old mop water the moment we walked in. It was very dated. The room looked nothing like the pictures we saw online. The entire hotel looked run-down, outdated, and felt more like a low-budget roadside motel than a resort. |The tiki bar, which seemed to be the only amenity highlighted in their advertising, closed ridiculously early at 4pm – not exactly ideal for a “resort” experience.|The hotel is located in a sketchy area that felt unsafe and unwelcoming. Between the unsanitary conditions, misleading photos, poor service, we couldn’t wait to leave.|Do yourself a favor: skip this hotel entirely. There is better, cleaner, safer, and more honest places to stay. This experience was not only a waste of money, but it was also extremely disappointing.

Our kids (pre teen and teen) loves Crown Reef Resort especially their slides that’s one of their favorite parts of Crown Reef. Usually we stay at Crown Reef or Coral Beach but Crown Reef gave us a deal we couldn’t refuse, which we greatly appreciated! Coral Beach gave you $ credit for my daughter’s b-day to use In their gift shop, restaurant or at their Starbucks tho. Which Crown Reef did not do that. It was my |b-day too which I did mention It to the front desk receptionist when checking In. All of our family loves staying there at Crown reef, esp our pre teen and teen they love their slides and the pools there. It’s one of our favorite places to stay at. We have this resort and another resort Is our favs In MB. I’ve been coming to MB for 43 yrs this July so out of the years, I’ve either visited the other hotels, resorts by swimming or visiting friends and family when we was there or we’ve stayed there and I have to say there’s only 2 resorts that are our favorite resorts to stay at while there In MB. The only thing we didn’t like that Is new we had to sign for towels when we got towels by the pool. The worker acted like It was a crime asking for 3 towels when we have 4 people in a room. It’s hard to bring 5 or beach towels with us so the 4 beach towels we did have, I wanted them to stay clean so we could use them all week to lay on the chairs by the pool area. It was like she didn’t want to do her job that she was there to do or It reminded me of a security guard that was checking for someone getting towels. I mean It’s not that serious. We just wanted them to try off with Instead of using the beach towels we brought because we wanted them to stay clean for all week. Another thing we didn’t like, they was one worker that was a maid, she didn’t want to give you 4 towels to take a shower with. We didn’t want no maid service and we’d have our garbage and towels that we used the evening before out by our door as soon as we woke up at 5:30 am In the morning but she just wanted to give us 2 towels a day, we had 4 people In our room, so what’s the problem with getting towels? As much as we paid for 4 nights over $1K dollars we should of been able to get 4 towels to dry off by the pool area because we’d return them everyday after we dried off with them and the maid shouldn’t had any problems giving us all 4 towels to take shower with. I mean we cleaned our own room and everything. It was like an act In congress to get towels to use frfr Another thing we didn’t like when we called to get a room to make a deposit, the receptionist didn’t tell us we would be charged for $60 for parking. She gave us a total waiving the $250 hold on the room but didn’t mention about us having pay a parking fee. Also If u bring 2 cars, the parking cost more. We’ve never been charged for parking before when we stayed at Crown Reef. So Idk If we would of agreed with that or not on the phone, we might of went to our other favorite place to be honest. I mean the parking garage Is there for their people to park there anyways so when did they start charging people for parking? I guess anything they can charge your for they’re going to try to charge you for, huh? Also, we woke up late one day past 7 pm, so we had to put our towels by the palm tree’s and the palm tree’s was blocking the sun. If u like a shade and don’t want a sun tan that would be a place you’d want to leave your towels at till 9 am when then pools open up. They’re also a pier that Is close by that you can walk on the beach to walk across just know you have to pay $3 per person to get on and everyone has to have some kind of sandals or shoes on to walk across the pier. Family Kingdom Amusement park Is driving distance away which u could walk but In my opinion, I think that It’s kinda a far walk In the hot months esp because you’d be sweating drastically If u did walk It. I don’t like to be hot and sweaty esp around places were going out to have fun with the family. They do have a gym which to be honestly, I would think they’d have more options In their gym since they didn’t have a stair master but had a thread mill and a bicycle. So to make up for the 40-1 hr of doing stair master a day, I done 3-4 miles on the bicycle. Which I usually workout 2 hrs a day at my gym at home so I just worked out 45-1 hr a day there. Which they had a laundry room Inside a room In the gym room which was fine. The resort Is huge. Honestly they have 3 towers, so It’s easily to get lost from tower 1-3 If u haven’t been there previously. Crown Reef Is also close to DQ (Dairy Queen) driving distance prob a mile away or a little further away. I don’t advise you to walk there tho. They’re plenty of Wings and Eagles gift shops close by In driving distance prob a mile or longer away from the resort. Plenty of restaurants to eat at In driving distance prob a mile or more away. Go to TT type in resorts name and This Is How We Do It and you can see the whole video of resort.

Just checked out today. Great place for kids because they have so many pools and the check in staff was wonderful! Room smelled like urine. Rooms look nothing like the pictures on the website. We stayed in tower 1, room 1112. The hairdryer looked like it was 1970 and when the guy came to replace it he left ( see picture behind)! Our first night there we had to call desk because my husband woke up during the night and the floor was wet because of condensation. We were told they would move us and to call back to the front desk in an hour. We called back and was told house keeping would come learn but they were not moving us. House keeping never came so we just used towels to clean the floor. We did this for 3 days. My granddaughter enjoyed the pools though.

I almost didn't book because the reviews were not that great. The reviews were wrong. This is a great vacation spot for families. Everything in one location: food, fun & relaxation. Multiple pools and hot tubs to enjoy! Room was clean. Furniture was decent. Easy beach access. And the AC was ice cold! I've noticed in a lot of hotels the AC doesn't put out as it should, but I have no complaints! Check in took a little longer than expected because they had system issues, but that's not in their control. If you're looking for a family oriented place to stay, Crown Reef should def be among your choices!

The suite was very nice with all amenities including. We spent most of our time at the pools, slides and the lazy river. We enjoyed the DJ’s good music, mermaid visit, and the food and drinks. My wife and I were very impressed by the bartender at the Tiki bar. Darlene has a great knowledge of drinks and how to calm down those patrons getting out of order. Her knowledge of operating bar shows her experience. We had a great experience at the Crown Reef. More than expected!

Google
Decent resort.. however the water park isn't as good as the website makes out to be and the lazy river was cold and gets so crowded you barely move. When we opened the main door to our room we could see the parking garage and hear every car that was locked remotely. What was advertised as a cabana was 2 loungers with a small wicker table and cloth umbrella. Biggest disappointment was all the trash when we walked out to our balcony.. cigarette butts, cans, paper plates.. just disgusting. Highly needs renovated and Waterpark needs more to it than 2 slides and a kids splash area..

Yelp
First impressions: Building needs maintenance. I noticed some small things like the balcony door lock is extremely loose; the room door and bathroom door don't close smoothly. The elevators are old and need some work Our room is clean.. Two queen beds a desk/dresser unit, a table with two chairs, and a reading chair. If someone is seated at the desk no one can easily get from to the bathroom or back as the chair is right up against the bed. The room is small for four of us, but we will mostly be in here to sleep. The hotel provides small throw pillows as bed pillows. We called and asked for five more small pillows so the four of us could possibly get a better night's sleep. Housekeeping brought us two more small throw pillows. I dialed zero again and was told that possibly housekeeping can't give us more than two. We cut our trip short as two nights here were enough. We did not have a bad time at this hotel and this hotel may suit your needs. My wife is a bit of a hotel snob so this is off of our list.

Eric D.

Yelp
Staff was good, elevators were not working. I was in the middle tower. 11/29 to 12/2. two of the four elevators were DOA. One was intermittent, with the door closing and re-opening right away, before it could advance to the next floor. The remaining service elevator's 12th floor button was inoperable. I notified the front desk, they said it was too expensive to find someone for the weekend. It would wait until Monday. My guess is that the two DOA elevators were DOA for a long time already. Overall, a budget experience for a premium price.

Yelp
Avoid staying at this awful hotel. It's filthy, and the customer service is terrible.

Yelp
Area in front of room stank. due to it being in front of trash shoot. Dont bother relaxing or enjoying any peace and quiet. They are playing music throughout the day. It goes straight out to the beach... Service felt like The food was Good. The view was good. The beds were comfortable.

Yelp
We came for a group event. We left after 1 night. Roaches in our rooms, black grout, tarnished fridge. We had to wear shoes in our room because the floor was so dirty. We did not go to the beach, there was sand in our bedsheets the moment we got in (not from us). Icing on the cake was the pack and play requested never came. At 10pm we called and requested it again, it arrived around 11pm soaked in urine. It smelled terrible, the entire room then smelled and the front desk said it would pick it up from outside our room. They never came. When we checked out in the morning they tried to not issue a refund for the next day (future stay) because they claimed to have offered us another room (absolute lie). Do not stay here!!

Yelp
Marijuana smoke is a problem at this resort in spite of the clearly posted non-smoking policy anywhere on the resort because there is no effective method for ensuring compliance. As a result, we cannot enjoy sitting on our balcony without breathing offensive Marijuana and cigarette smoke. We can't leave the slider open so we can listen to the sound of the surf because the smell enters our room. Calling Guest Relations "0" can only offer apologies for the inconvenience. Housekeeping should perform daily room checks to ensure guests are not smoking in rooms or balconies. We've been here since Saturday, 9/7/24 and have yet to see/hear housekeeping staff on our floor. If guests need service, like extra towels or more toilet paper, they must call Guest Relations.

Yelp
We came and stayed here in the off season. I'm sure during peak months it's very busy and overwhelming. The good: lots to do from indoor and outdoor pools/ water slides/ the beach/ arcade, hotel was cleanish (I wasn't grossed out in our room but it just had a dirty vibe throughout the resort), super cheap in off season. It is located on the beach and we had a beautiful view from our room. The bad: checkin is across the street so if you need something you almost feel the need to drive over there. In order to leave the resort to go anywhere you have to drive and parking seems like it could be problematic during peak season. The ugly: they charge you for everything. Parking charge, room holds, all food, etc. Also the check in took a very long time and was frustrating.

Yelp
My family stayed at the crown beach resort as part of a Hilton promotion where they gave us a pretty good deal for three nights. I was actually surprised that Hilton is associated with such a low grade Hotel that doesn't seem to have been updated or thoroughly cleaned for years. We found two roaches on the first day of check in and the rooms were very old with random little unfinished holes in every room, cracks and uneven flooring in the tub, and the layout a bit odd with a murphy bed in one room with the great view and a regular two queens in one room next to the entrance door. The view was the only good thing about our stay and it was nice that our room had a kitchenette but we didn't use it because we didn't want to attract any more bugs. The pool and Waterpark were okay, the staff were not very friendly and seemed to be unhappy to be at work every day. The parking lot structure is terribly tight to pass through by two lanes, and the check-in is strangely across the street in a newer building. We also received several flyers for pizza/takeout on our door every night, and after a little research, we found out half of them were scams and not even real restaurants. It was our first time visiting Myrtle Beach, and we definitely will find somewhere else if we ever come back.

Yelp
Resort was wonderful, rooms were large, clean and had everything one would need, microwave, stove, nice full size fridge. The oceanfront view was magnificent and everyone was super friendly and helpful. Beautiful hotel and area. Quiet and near the Springmaid Pier, within walking distance. Multiple pools and hot tubs throughout property. Maid service everyday. You can tell the hotel is a little aged but is well- maintained. Would definitely visit again

Yelp
I be literally packed my family up in the middle of the night and drove home. Rooms filthy, beds had sand in them, bathroom dirty. Roaches and water bugs . Someone was sent to clean my room and change the linens. I've yet to receive a phone call from management that's never available. I will never return let alone refer anyone her. I spent more time off the premises when I should have been enjoying the resort with my family Waste of time and money. I forced to rate 1 star when really they deserve 0.

Yelp
Weird resort to say the least, stayed here for 4 days & 3 nights. Was greeted by a few bug as I walked into the room, crawling on the kitchen and back room. Found a few more the second and third day, don't know if it was a cleaning or building needs fumigation problem. Tried the Waterpark downstairs too, it's okay but def needs some love and attention as well as new staff. The water park attendants are unprofessional, on their phone and have no customer service skills. In the towel area of the park, the towels are so tiny and feel like sand paper but charge you $10 for a new one if you loses or don't return it. There are no signage of where things are like slides, towels, lazy river entrance or tubes. Elevators have advertising of getting a $1500 discount on next visits but now I know why lol. Rooms need tender love & care, waterpark and whole resort, I don't understand how they are affiliated with Hilton?!

Yelp
The staff was amazing all around. I wanted an upgraded room. They switched me as soon as one was available, same night. The parking was always available. Definitely will recommend, for a family that for a long stay. Very family oriented! Thanks again...highest recommended

Jestine R.

Yelp
Customer service was not the best. Housekeeping does not come to rooms unless requested. Pools were nice and kept clean. Floors were flooded after the rain. Elevators and hallways smelt like mold. Rooms were outdated. Front desk and check-in was across the street.

Yelp
This Crown Reef Beach Resort and Waterpark has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. My daughter called me crying as she was in the hotel. American Airlines canceled her flight as she was sitting on the plane ready for takeoff. She called the Crown Reef Beach Resort at 7:15 p.m. and informed them they would be a day late due to flight cancelation. The hotel front desk said, "no problem", as she booked a hotel for a week and she could check in as soon as she arrived because they have her room. She arrived the next day at 1:00 p.m. to find out they gave her room away and told her there was nothing they could do as it is Labor Day Weekend and they were sold out. I am familiar with the hotel business so I called to help come up with a solution. I was on hold for 20 minutes then transferred to a voice mail . I left Katie Ines the hotel manager several voice mails. I still have not heard back from anyone. I called back and talked to Brian Calhoun at the front desk (who knows if that was his name). He would not try to help and he hung up on me. I called back several times to try and get help for my daughter and they kept answering and hanging up on me. My daughter booked this trip months ago for a birthday present for her boyfriend. I know that hotels have relations with other hotels nearby incase an incident like this occurs, however, they didn't CARE AT ALL that a young lady had nowhere to sleep and knew no one in that state. They disregarded her as she was nothing. They were rude to her and myself. I am so disappointed in the lack of human kindness and accountability they showed a young lady who communicated with their staff on her situation prior to her coming. They basically left her homeless in a place where she knew no one. Who wants their children treated like this. Not me! I am so worried about her. They are young and trying so hard to adult and this is how they are treated by a hotel/corporation. Very disappointing and sad. I would never stay here on principal alone. Who owns this resort?

Yelp
First things first, DO NOT STAY HERE! This place was absolutely disgusting. First impression, when you check-in (across the street) you think you may have a fine experience, that building is decent. However, when you drive across the street you need to be extremely careful as the parking lot seems to be built for only small sedans. All of the parking spots were extremely tight. The parking garage smelled of urine and we were told it was due to the renovations and the port-o-potties on the bottom floor. When we got to our room, the keys would not work. The mechanism would flash Green as if it opened but we couldn't open the door. Until we realized you needed the strength of a bear to push the handle down. We stood outside for 20 minutes before we were able to get in. As soon as you open the door, you get a foul smell, not one of just old hotel room, but of dirt and foulness. As we inspected the room we noticed stains, rust, dirt and all other fun stuff they do not show you in their pictures on the website. The only pleasant site was the view of the beach and ocean. A few nights in we found the service to be horrible. The arcade attendant had no personality. She was very rude to my kids when they went for their prizes; "what do you want?" was a response she said to my youngest. One of the bartenders down at the pool bar decided to use her hand/sleeve to wipe her nose and mouth instead of a tissue. On one of the days, I had to run back up to our room. Instead of waiting for the great elevators, I took the stairs, well at least tried; the door was locked/jammed. I ended up having to take the elevator up and on the way down I was able to access the stairway. Coming down, on the third floor I witnessed a used woman's feminine product. When I had the 1st floor, (the same door I tried to access earlier) it was still jammed. I had to run back to the floor above to the elevator to come down. God forbid there were ever a fire, people would have been stuck. When I contacted the hotel they said maintenance would fix it; they sure did, the just took the locking mechanism out of the door. We had "welcoming guests" that showed up a few nights in; giant cockroaches. My wife woke to at least two of them at 2am when she got up to use the restroom. Needless to say, we then decided to pack up at that time and find a new place. I can deal with cosmetic issues, but when I start to see bugs, I'm out. We were only refunded for two nights of our 6 night stay. The manager told us, "you are not our targeted audience." I'm afraid to see who their target audience is. DO NOT STAY HERE, unless you like all of these awesome things The Crown Reef has to offer. I have attached pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Yelp
560 dollars a night for a 2 bedroom suite. And as soon as we we walk into the room, there is a 2 inch cockroach crawling across the wall. We called the front office and they downplayed the whole situation calling it a palmetto but (high class name for cockroach) then they send maintenance up with toxic roach spray and we have a 1 year old who is crawling around on the foor. We told him that spray was not safe.....he said yea it is! We read that back of the bottle it says do NOT allow children or animals around the pesticides. This place is disgusting and we will not return. Dont waste your money

Yelp
We stayed here for two nights over New Years Eve. The pools and views of the ocean are simply beautiful. I loved the little island like feel while you you are laying out. There are many pools to choose from and some are outside and heated. The beds were extremely comfy!! I had such a great night sleep. The rest of the room was really worn. They don't give you shampoo/conditioner, no plugs for electronics to be charged, stains on ceilings that I don't even want to know what it was. The balcony carpet was all ripped apart. So, basically needs a total redo. There is a restaurant but every time we tried to order from them they didn't answer. The hours of the pool were also very strange. There is an arcade and ice cream shop and a breakfast buffet for $17.99. We didn't mind paying the price at this time of year but I would not spend my money here with their summer prices. The location is great and parking was easy. Check in experience is on a different review page. That was awful. All in all, view-amazing beds-jetted bathtub and full kitchen were great.

Yelp
Very fun stay at a-lot todo. Very clean and pretty views restaurant is okay the chicken tenders tasted like fish but other than that 10/10 stay

Yelp
Resort was advertised as renovated and our room was far from it . The room was not properly cleaned . The walls and floor were dirty . Bathroom was in poor condition . The mattress was disgusting . I will not recommend the stay . Very uncomfortable and inconvenient stay . The only good thing was the view from our room .

Yelp
Stayed 3 nights elevators not working the room was not worth the money spent the restaurant food was terrible and the server added a tip before giving us the bill will never go back to this place again

Yelp
Title: Disappointing Experience at Crown Reef Hotel Review: I recently stayed at the Crown Reef Hotel and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. From the moment I arrived, it was evident that this hotel fell short of my expectations. Firstly, the pool was a major letdown. Contrary to what I had anticipated, the water was unusually warm, making it uncomfortable to swim and relax. The lack of refreshing coolness was a significant disappointment, especially on hot summer days. Moreover, the beds in my room were uncomfortably hard. A good night's sleep is crucial during a hotel stay, but unfortunately, these beds felt like lying on a concrete slab. I woke up each morning feeling achy and restless, which significantly impacted my overall enjoyment of the trip. To make matters worse, there was sand everywhere throughout the hotel. It seemed as if the cleaning staff hadn't made much effort to maintain a clean environment. Sand on the floors, in the hallways, and even in the common areas gave the impression of poor housekeeping and a lack of attention to detail. Considering the price I paid for my stay, I had expected a higher level of comfort, cleanliness, and overall quality. Regrettably, the Crown Reef Hotel failed to meet these basic standards, leaving me thoroughly disappointed. I would advise potential guests to consider other options before booking a stay at this establishment.

Mayra R.

Yelp
This hotel is a fraud! A complete and utter fraud. Please refrain from this facility. Their service is horrid. Booked two reservations in August and they failed to grant access to one of our rooms. They went on to charge fully for all of the three rooms reserved and continue to blame a third party vendor. The receptionists were rude upon arrival. That should have been our red flag. Through the entire ordeal the hotel supervisor and manager among other staff have dodged calls and answers. We've had to seek legal action. Lastly, the facility is run down, we noticed many hazards while staying there. They fail to meet minimum safety standards such as: having mats in general lobby/ elevator areas to avoid slips and falls. Many of their gated doors are broken and dilapidated. I can go on forever. We arrived with the hopes of having a wonderful summer vacation and instead we had to deal with a tormenting nightmare. Needless to say it was hurricane season and they don't provide any kind of instruction and or alerts to their guests. We called the lobby multiples times and the line was always busy. ( mind you the lobby is in a completely different facility with an avenue in between). Please save yourselves a huge headache and do not book here. The staff is extremely aloof and there's simply no empathy: for lack of better words just Despicable! 0/10

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay last spring at Crown Reef. Some aspects seem a little dated but overall a nice condo. The view from our balcony was definitely amazing and being able to walk to the pier and state park was nice.

Yelp
This place is great for kids! Lots of different pools, hot tubs and several different slides. The staff do a good job watching all the water areas and cleaning down the chairs. We reserved an oceanfront room. Room is small and tight. Not worth $1,300 for 5 nights!! The thing I like the least about this vacation is that we had to pay $10 a night just to park at the hotel. Absolutely ridiculous when we pay that much for a room already. It was never mentioned when we called to book the room directly with Crown Reef. It was a surprise at check in! That adds up quick when you stay for a week!! Overall good stay. Clean room and beds. Doubt we would be back for what we paid!

Yelp
bedbugs bedbugs bedbugs bedbugs bedbugs bedbugs do not stay! this place is disgusting. they will not refund your money. staff is extremely rude and unprofessional.

Yelp
It was an alright hotel, but definitely not high end by any means. I spent way too much money for what it was and wish I had stayed somewhere nicer for the price. Kids loved it tho

Yelp
i asked for a veggie omelet and they put in ham and bacon. hotel rooms were disgusting, bathtub was disgusting, and the pull out bed was terrible. i saw a cockroach on my porch

Yelp
The worst resort experience I've ever had. I initially made a reservation for 6 adults and 2 children, three days later I called to cancel the room and re-booked another, smaller room for 5 adults, no children. After my stay, I realized the hotel never cancelled my initial reservation and charged me $1700 more than the room I was supposed to be in. When I called to speak to a manager, his name is Brian; I was told it was my responsibility to let the front desk know I was in the wrong room. I'm at lost for words at the customer service and the lack of accountability. They refuse to acknowledge the error on their end and is insisting I pay for the room I cancelled. Brian was incredibly rude and disrespectful; he spoke over me as I was trying to explain my frustration, told me "you stayed in the room so you have to pay for it" "you should have known it was not the room you reserved" "i'll tell you what you wont do, you wont raise your voice at me- you will speak to me properly" "well you already paid for it so .." He also refused to transfer me to someone else. I'm still waiting for someone to address the issue.

Yelp
This is the Motel 6 of "resorts". While the beachfront location is nice and the pool amenities are plentiful, the rooms are tired and mediocre, the beds are terrible, the pool is murky and often crowded, the posted mask policy is 100% ignored and not enforced, the restaurant serves raw chicken, and a man was holding women at gunpoint while we were leaving. We will not be back. Nickel and Diming from the fine print: your 25% deposit is non-refundable unless you pay for a "VIP plan". Changes are otherwise $25. There is a $10 parking fee per vehicle/night, a daily resort fee, and 2.5% additional credit card fee if you don't pay the balance in advance. Things they didn't tell us in advance (April 2021). There is NO housekeeping during your stay. If you want anything, you will have to call housekeeping with your needs and they will bring items to your door. The bar in the building is closed. You can't get into the gym. The young kids splash pad area was closed half the week we were there. The Room: Rooms with kitchenettes are not ADA compliant. We rented an ocean-front, standard, wheelchair accessible room with a shower and 2 queen beds for 6 nights. It is no frills, no comfort and very tight for a wheelchair user. There was a chair, desk, dresser, mini-fridge, and microwave. Expect to have to dump water out of the moldy de-humidifier bucket every other day. The beds were the most loathsome part of our trip. We couldn't relax. I wish I bought a mattress topper, sheets, and pillows day 1. The mattresses were very old and provided no support, we had trouble sleeping and woek up with sore backs (I slept better as a passenger in the car on the way back). sheets were ill-fitting, paper thin and had black particles on them. Beneath the fitted sheet is protector that is like a puppy pee-pad. It constantly bunches, requiring you to pull the sheet back to reveal the mattress (not pretty!) and adjust it. The mattress is not pretty under there. This was the most disappointing part about not having housekeeping services - every night, dreading having to go under the sheet and touch the stained mattresses. The ultra-thin pillows are 1/2 size. We have never seen such a thing. The bathroom meets ADA requirements and there was a shower chair present (as requested). The shower head wand has no connection to secure it to the adjustable base. The only option for a seated person to shower is to either be very far from the head in its normal position or to use the wand only. The wall is cracking around the sink and there is no counter to put your things. The towels are cheap and thin. Amenities: The primary reason we selected this resort was for the (3) pools, lazy river, splash pad, and water slides. Also, the beach is down a few steps. While overall, the pool is nice - the water likely needs to be treated better (it was murky) and there needs to be some safeguards for children. While it is clearly marked that you must attend to your children, most parents blatantly do not. I witnessed small children unsupervised in the water, running, jumping/diving in shallow water etc... The area can easily be overcrowded. With 3 drowning/near drowning incidents over the past few years, I hope the facility will make changes to this. Wheelchair access is possible outside, some areas are cumbersome to navigate. They put tables with umbrellas out mid-stay, but the umbrellas never came out again (we were told the staff didn't have the key) and there were only a few chairs for the tables. One of the elevators had a problem getting stuck on floors (would not move up or down). After an ordeal, I told an employee who said, "Yeah, that happens. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't". Wheelchair users can't take the stairs. This is not acceptable. Dining: The Grab and Go Breakfast Buffet was worthwhile, approx. $12 for adults and $8 for kids 12 and under. It had a fresh omelet and waffle station, scrambled eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, cereal, sausage and gravity, grits, apples, pastries, juices, tea and coffee. It was all served for you and behind Plexiglass. We went to the Loco Gecko Restaurant twice. At lunch, our party was overall satisfied with the food though it was expensive. However, in the evening, they missed putting sauces that were ordered with takeout chicken wings and required us to show our receipt to retrieve them, but when we got back we learned both orders of wings were RAW. Dangerous and gross! They were closed at that point. I honestly couldn't wait to leave.

Yelp
I honestly wish I could rate individual components of the resort, but overall, my family and I had a nice stay. Our room was nice, and appeared to be relatively recently remodeled. The public areas we observed were pretty clean. The pools were a bit chemically, but when you're talking about 100's of people swimming I get it. One has to keep in mind that this hotel was built a LONG time ago. If I had to guess, I'd say in the 80's or older. The worst part by far, was the restroom "facilities" serving the pool and water park area. The restrooms are/were a trailer in the garage. Simple enough for older kids and adults, just go up to your room if you don't want to use the trailer. Not so simple when you have a young one that doesn't listen well to their body yet. The trailer was disgusting. It is mind-boggling to me that a place with a pool deck and water park would NOT have adequate restrooms to also serve the guests at the pool.

Yelp
This is my survey response after staying here: The minute we arrived in the room, I found soiled but covered sheets and bugs crawling on the walls. I filled out a survey negatively and was contacted by someone at the front desk. She offered to move our room and told me to call her back once I got back to the room. When I got back to the room, I called back and was put on a never ending hold and then hung up on. So I guess she was only pretending to respond to our negative survey. I was injured that evening at a go-Kart track and spent most of the evening and the following early morning hours in the ER. Upon return to the hotel, I called the front desk because I could not find parking adequate enough to allow me to exit my car with my crutches. The lady who answered said she could not tell me where would be best to park, she didn't know, and hung up. Thanks a lot. The next morning I took the kids to the water park. My little one needed to use the restroom. I approached (in crutches) the woman at the podium of the slide and asked her where the nearest restroom is. She grabbed her head as if she was holding back from smacking me while angrily telling me it was under the parking deck. I literally only asked, "Hi, can you tell me where the nearest restroom is?" Later that night, several guests decided to have a violent fight outside of our hotel room door. I tried calling the front desk multiple times before someone finally answered. It left us feeling very unsafe and it interrupted our sleep. The following morning, my family and I was awakened at 9am by the cleaning lady letting herself in, but the latch caught the door. Still, she tried. I approached the door (in crutches) and explained my family was sleeping and asked if she could come back later. She refused. Said she needed towels and trash RIGHT NOW. So, everyone got up and out of bed, so help me get her the towels she so desperately required. I cannot imagine why you would charge guests what you charge to experience this level of service.

Yelp
Place is run down. I stayed there 5 nights and had to leave the last day early for a family problem at home. Went to front desk at 8am the day I wanted to leave early and they told me I would have to pay for the last day because I didn't buy the VIP package. Never again would I stay there

Yelp
It's obvious that the property is in the midst of renovation as some rooms are obviously updated with newer color schemes and linens. Some more attention could be paid to the finishing details of paint and trim, but otherwise the older parts of the building and room were in good repair, just obviously a bit dated. I had no complaints when it comes to cleanliness and the staff were wonderful from check in to check out, although they were very paper-heavy with print outs, guidelines, etc. If you have kids, and they like the beach and pools, this is a solid choice, especially if you are going to be out of the room at the beach or poolside more than in it. It's worth noting that the floor plan of the room is a traditional hotel style and best suited for sleeping, showering, and getting ready. Many pools, a lazy river, water slides, and a splash pad area. Again, a bit more attention to some finishing details (scum line needs scrubbed at the end of the water slides, etc.) but I always felt the entire property was safe and generally clean. My kids have repeatedly asked to go back, and I would do so without hesitation. We visited in the off-season so I can't speak to what an experience would be like during the peak vacation times.

Yelp
I remember coming here when I was in middle/high school before my parents moved to Myrtle Beach. This place was one of the best places to stay in Myrtle Beach because it was on the ocean and the pools were a kids best friend. That was over 10 years ago. I recently stayed here for my little brother's birthday because this was one of the only places that had the indoor water park! We stayed in Tower 2 and were a little disappointed. This resort is very outdated. From the furniture to some of the main spaces, it looked like nothing as changed in years. There isn't anything necessarily wrong with that but I feel that the Crown Reef isn't competing with other resorts in the area. Especially for the price. I will say that the staff is great, we were treated very well the whole time which is always a plus! We also tried the breakfast buffet which was really good and had a lot of variety with a wonderful view of the ocean. I have a lot of memories at the Crown Reef and would love to continue to recommend this resort. I feel that the lack of updates makes this resort hard to compete with others in the area.

Yelp
Terrible staff. I checked into your hotel yesterday and while I was taking a shower early evening, I had soap in my eyes and reached for the shower handicap bar which broke right out of the wall. I filled out an incident report which they have refused to give me a copy of, went to the ER and have a bruised tailbone and bruised lower back. The hotel staff was super rude and simply said "be safe". Meanwhile the shower bar is still broke. I'll be calling my lawyer and filing a lawsuit since your company clearly doesn't care about people's safety or well being

Yelp
I don't like to write bad reviews and usually I don't. BUT What the crap... Let's start with the rooms. I'm not a hotel owner, I'm not a hotel manager, I'm not even in house keeping. Yet I know WHEN YOU SPRAY THE OVEN CLEANER you GOTTA WIPE it out. That crap can kill you if heated with food. FYI! View the pics, I shouldn't have to clean anything on vacation except myself. After I cleaned the oven I cleaned the floors. I was constantly picking up trash at the "resort" because the employees don't get over time and seem to lack the initiative to want to work. One may ask well why didn't I contact management or call house keeping, oh buddy you all had your chance now I get to review your skunk "Waterpark hotel" Don't get me started on the pool water, don't lose anything chances are you won't find it at the bottom, it's so murky you can barely see your hand in front of your face. Our son got a cut from the trundle bed, who knows what kind rust he was exposed to, its just piss poor. We just left a Holiday Inn and the difference is well extremely noticeable, to say the least. My wife and I will never stay here again, and if I were you think about the money you're spending. We will never return... NEVER! Never! EVER!

Yelp
They tack on a hidden property fee for the stay. Were rude & the room was filthy. Would never recommend this to anyone.

Yelp
The amenities were awesome but the rooms are terrible. It was hotel prices but motel quality. We had an oceanfront deluxe queen suite that needed a total renovation. I don't recommend this resort.

Yelp
Great slides and water area. Atrocious check in process is true. We read the reviews and were like, well these aren't that new. Hopefully they updated this process, it seems they have not. Either way, have patience and know that once you get into your room it is not as bad as these pictures show. The kids had the best time and nothing is better than tired kids at the end of the day. Less the check in, great time.

Yelp
Stay at Motel 6 instead and save the agony. Not at all like the pictures on website. This place is a farce. After ONE hour of waiting in line to check in, the manager sent us off with a welcome packet and NO room keys. That's right, they checked us in but forgot the most important thing... a key to our room. Not realizing that's one of the things we should check, we had to drive back across the highway to the "conference center" check in area to get them. But the fun doesn't end there. Our two bedroom suite has only one bed, and the hot tub in the hot tub suite is a regular bathtub. Like the one you have in your bathroom at home. This place should be torn down and rebuilt.

Yelp
I was going to let this go, but I cannot have someone else in my situation pay a single penny to this establishment. Simply put, this resort RUINED my Mother's day weekend (May 2023) gift for my Sister and I, as well as my first-time experience in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Here is why: As I mentioned in the introduction, I booked this trip for two reasons; to celebrate my Mom's memory as she had passed on a few years ago and I didn't want to be sad/upset, and I brought my sister alongside with me to help AS WELL as celebrate her as she has two teen aged children. I've heard great things about this beach town (a very close friend of mines is from here), so I figure I give this resort a try as this is my 4th resort visited in the United States. I understand most resorts aren't always perfect, but the experience that my sister and I have experienced on this resort in the two nights/three-day getaway wasn't not only worth the $500 dollars I've spent here, I am also disgusted and infuriated at the treatment I've noticed and received. It started when we got there/checked into the resort, we had a long drive there so we arrived a bit later than we wanted to (around 9pm), and were hungry from the drive so we went to their local restaurant (Loko Geiko). We didn't know they closed at 10pm on a Saturday (which again we were very new to the city and not used to things closing so early), but man to man the Bartender there was very adamant about informing us that they were closing, as he kept repeating over and over again, in almost a rude gesture (as if he didn't want us there at all). I even asked this guy if there was another place around that was opened or for entertainment and before I could get the question in full out, he cut me off and said very sternly 'I. DON'T. KNOW! I know we closing at 10". Ouch! He wasn't happy at all. And he wanted us to be very aware of it. 2. We quickly finished our food and headed up the stairs to our room. When we got there, we were so amazed by the view we had (The ONLY great memory from the trip), however, when I walked out to the patio, a ROACH (yes you read correctly) was seen running under the A.C. unit in out room (keeping in mind we were on the 9th floor), which turned my sister off immediately and made her very uncomfortable. It's outside and sometimes nature is unpredicted, so we let it go.3. In our brief stay there, I would like to let everyone know we got stuck in the elevator not ONCE but TWICE. Coming from the 9th floor to the second (the hub), one instance the elevator doors didn't open and we had to press the emergency button and the doors opened from the outside and the other where we were in the elevator with another family the doors didn't even open up and instead the elevator just went back up to the 7th floor where someone asked for it. This again frightened us (I am claustrophobic and imagine that getting stuck in an elevator). 4. Pool Time- On that Sunday (actual mother's day) my Sis and I head down to the pool area. Now, my swim apparel was that of a denim speedo- but before I wore it, I actually checked the policy on swimsuits and thought it wouldn't be an issue because 1. I wasn't in plain sight I was tucked away in a corner 2. There was nothing in the books or rules saying a speedo was forbidden (Again I been on MANY resorts and that was the norm), and 3. I've seen many females with bikinis on that were small and very revealing (yes, I saw body parts and/or certain areas on women but again it's a resort so what it's a bathing suit right?) WRONG! I had a female worker approach me and my sister almost immediately and tell me that my swimsuit "wasn't a real swimsuit", and I had to go upstairs and change. This sent me and my Sister to another level of irritation. This was very embarrassing, unprofessional, and downright disrespectful. One, I guess men who swim on the Olympics don't wear "real swim wear", and I also guess the store I purchased my swimsuit (Chubbies) must not have gotten those memos. I guess the female felt my energy and immediately called a male worker over to justify her ignorance, to which she got the shock of her life, because the Male Co-worker (who I guess was management) comes over and reminds her what I was wearing did not BREAK any rules, nor was it right or professional for such a comment and request. Damage was already done and I went to change into a more "professional" swimsuit, to which she comes to apologize for her misjudgment on me. I accepted her apology, but the damage was already done. 5. Lastly, I decide to go back to Loko Geiko to grab some pizza for the room ... and this time there was a Lady who was working as Bartender/Supervisor. I could tell she was having a bad day (again the service was subpar) but when my pizza got there, it literally took her 15 -20 minutes for her to let us know it was there. I had to actually ask her and her reply after she acknowledged this was "sorry, I'm not at my best today". It SUCKED!

Yelp
The rooms were clean and the beach view was great. I fell in the shower due to a broken shower handle, which was not immediately repaired after I reported to the front desk. The room was not made up after each night and we had to request clean towels twice. For the Groupon price we paid, I would go back again. It's convenient to everything and having a kitchen was convenient.

Yelp
This place is absolutely disgusting . Everything is dirty and unkept from the grounds to the room. I do not recommend this place at all. I only gave one star because some of the staff are friendly and helpful. This place needs a total renovation!!

Yelp
For own safety do not visit the crown reef in Myrtle Beach. The room they rented us at this sub-par hotel was disgusting. The room was lined in black mold, green mold and water damage. After spending the night there I woke up with a massive head ache from all the mold in the room. Went down stairs with my girlfriend to get breakfast. The food on the buffet was rancid and we had to tell the staff they had to keep the butter, cheese, and salsa at a certain temp/ covered or this would keep on happening, and pleaded with them to change how they maintain the food on the buffet or they were going to kill someone not adhering to OSHA guidelines. After breakfast we went back to our room I opened the door we were greeted by a chemical smell that my girlfriend described as "an odor of pesticides" after we walked past the kitchen's sink to the area to the back of our suite was covered in water. After calling the front desk, worried the next door suite was flooded we were offered a towel to clean up the mess ourselves, and a late check out. At that point they had 5 different people come in and out the room to see the water on the floor. At this point I asked why they had a humidifier running non stop in the room and was blamed because I had the door open to let them in and the back sliding glasses door open to vent out the mold and chemical smell, saying I caused the humidity in the room so they have to run it non stop. They humidifier was full but not over flowing, when we found the water. After helping the man empty the humidifier we found that the humidifier collection bin had not been put on properly and that it was set to continuous pump which the head of house keeping told us was not supposed to be set to and argued that it was only green mold. I was highly disappointed at the customer service, and quality living conditions at this resort. Me and my girlfriend are locals and work and pay taxes in Myrtle Beach, and we're just hoping to have a night/morning out during spring break, to enjoy our company together. After not getting to shower or see my girlfriend because of all the people going in and out of our suite, I had to go to work. For your own safety do not book this hotel. It speaks volumes that they had vacancy in Myrtle Beach during spring break, we now know better and won't be back.

Yelp
Dear crown royal Resort, I stayed with you all back in November and just realize my review unfortunately, was never sent. I am very dissatisfied and will not be staying again due to constantly seeing little roaches all over my hotel room including while I was trying to take a shower before checking out. We were planning to come back for a friends birthday but will not be staying with this resort again. I paid over $200 for the biggest room and an ocean view that you all had available unfortunately, I was unable to enjoy my stay due to all the bugs. The staff was not welcoming to say the least and I did not enjoy all the bugs.. unsatisfied customer

Yelp
This was the worst family vacation I ever had. I rent a vehicle drove my grandchildren to Crown reef for another summer vacation. First night we came in late and I didn't check the sofa and Murphy bed.My baby say something bite his face. I daid theirs mosquitoes. Next night my daughter jumped up blood on her leg, and my grandson yelled. I told something wad was biting me. Took a pic of bedbugs. Resort moved us to another room stood at the door and made sure we didn't bring anything outside of the room. I told the manager she confirmed by the expert. I told her I want my money back. Manager gave me 2 hours to be out the room. I'm still waiting for my refund. I lost 400 dollars in food.

Yelp
Omg where do I start. How can I place stay in business like this. Once you go in the glass doors are super dirty it doesn't take long to clean them with windex. Same with the elevators omg they are super dirty. The hallways are also very bad. The rooms are quite not bad at least the one we stood in. View of Myrtle Beach is amazing but it doesn't compensate the bad management they have here. I can keep going on and on with the list. I guess that's the price of what you get when you pay cheap. We came from FL on a one day stop to get back home to NJ.

Yelp
