Crowne Plaza Madrid Centre Retiro, an IHG Hotel

Arriving in Madrid after a long flight, I felt instantly at ease at Crowne Plaza Madrid Centre Retiro. Check-in was smooth and the staff so warm—they even let me check in early 😊. My room was spotless, quiet, and perfectly comfortable, with blackout curtains that helped me sleep like a baby (no jet lag at all!). I really appreciated the hotel’s eco-friendly touches 🌍—glass water bottles with a refill station offering still, cold, and even sparkling water, plus refillable bathroom amenities instead of wasteful plastics. A thoughtful balance of comfort and sustainability. Truly a wonderful stay, and I’d happily return! 🛏️

Arrived at hotel and found the underground car park. Checked in, staff were really friendly and spoke good English. |Hotel decor was lovely. Room was a great size, clean and tidy. Bathroom was huge, with bath and shower. |The had dinner in the hotel restaurant - food was lovely and again the staff were polite and friendly. |The portions were on the small side, and pretty expensive.|Breakfast…..we were advised the choice was either the hot buffet at 20€ each, or continental at 16€ each….we decided on the continental. |The lady then asked what we wanted, either toast or a croissant…|I paid 16€ for each of us and we received a coffee , OJ and a slice of toast. We went to try go up for the Buffett for some a croissant, only to be told, we weren’t allowed, the buffet was only for the people who paid for the 20€ hot beakfast option!!|The 3 stars are due to the price of the breakfast….16€ for a machine coffee, and slice of toast…you’re kidding me!!

Overall I had a good stay. Tamara provided a welcoming and helpful check in. Everybody on Reception that I had cause to speak with was lovely and their English to a high standard. The room was very comfortable and the bed gave me a better sleep than I’ve had in a while. Aside from some other guests outside in the hallway it was very quiet. The breakfast buffet was ok and plentiful. The room it was served in was perhaps a little tired. The location was a little further away from some of the ‘must do’ attractions but it also provided a very pleasant walk across the park. The disappointments were the bar not being open in the evening and being directed to another hotel; not a big deal as I was just hoping for a quiet glass of one and could easily skip it. I instead looked at the vending machine which was a bit of a faff, even the receptionist wasn’t sure how to use it, and one bag of crisps was an unadvertised €5 so a little steep. The following morning I used a taxi they booked for me and got charged €35 instead of the flat fee I was advised of €33. I only realised I was overcharged when the driver gave me the receipt. Whilst not earth shattering these things dulled what was otherwise a pleasant stay.

Carlos, Andrea, and the entire team we interacted with were incredibly kind and helpful. As first-time visitors to Madrid, we truly appreciated the exceptional hospitality that made our stay so enjoyable. From thoughtful route recommendations to arranging an early morning taxi for our train departure and even preparing a to-go breakfast since we had to leave before breakfast service, they went above and beyond at every turn. The service was outstanding, definitely five stars for both the hotel and the amazing staff. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to others. The location is also excellent, with public transportation just a few minutes walk away, making it easy to reach any part of the city. The room was well-equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

We had a wonderful stay in Crowne Plaza Centew Retiro. Few min walk to Metro. Ginos restaurant and VIPS restaurant are opposite to the hotel and closed at midnight. The junior suite was great with a King bed and a double sofa bed which are big enough for a family of 4. The hotel provided welcome drinks and snacks in the bar. Free Illy coffee capsules and cookies in the room. The minibar in the junior suite was fully stocked and complimentary. All staff are friendly and nice. Thanks Nuria Pastor and your team for the arrangement which made our journey so special. We would definitely recommend our friends to stay here. The hotel was connected with Voco. We also booked buffet breakfast in Voco hotel with kid price EUR15 and Adult EUR 19. Great variety of food and drinks.

We stayed for 4 days / 3 nights and loved the hotel! Location: ideal, very central and next to metro and bus stops to quickly commute to all districts of Madrid; 10 mins walk to the splendid Retiro Park; yet pleasantly away from the busiest ares of the city. The hotel is modern, clean, well maintained, offers great comfort, relaxation and services. The whole staff is friendly, smiling, helpful and offers great feeling of hospitality. We had a Junior Suite room for the 4 of us and appreciated the space and comfort. We booked with Half-Board offer, enjoyed fresh, rich, delicious breakfasts and 3-course dinners at the bar, with a relative simple menu which perfectly served the tastes of kids and adults. We appreciated ability of safely storing our luggage to have some sightseeing on the last day, before we departed to the airport for our evening flight.

The hotel was great! The room was very clean, and the air conditioning worked perfectly, making it a comfortable place to stay. The staff were very friendly, which left a wonderful impression on me — especially Tamara at reception, who was particularly helpful and kind. Overall, it was a very good stay and I’d definitely recommend this hotel to others.

Well positioned hotel, small standard room though well equipped, good sized bathroom and bathrobes (nice touch). Biscuits and chocolates on the tea/coffee tray (another nice touch). Very good breakfast. We ate dinner one night at the bar as the restaurant is not open evenings yet it’s was good. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Alway taxis available outside the hotel . Very clean everywhere. I would stay here again.
