A very unique experience & worth the visit. Self-tour was the only option when we got there Sunday afternoon, but informative & plenty regardless. It wasn’t very crowded, but just enough people to feel a bit rushed to allow others to step into small areas & read/look. “Troubles” animated video was great, simple info for those that needed a quick understanding. Appreciated the child, male, female perspective on being imprisoned. My main concern on this tour was I was a bit distracted by the amount of trash littered in some exhibits& sprinkled here & there on the tour.

I had hoped to do a guided tour of the gaol but they weren't running the weekend I was there. However I had nothing to worry about doing the self guided tour, everything was interactive and laid out well. Very atmospheric building with a dark history and interesting visit! Was able to enter before my time slot which was great because I was early

We loved this place. It was so interesting and it is steeped in a rich history. A well thought out experience. Be sure to allow yourself enough time to get around it. If you like whisky, there's a distillery (McConells - set to be one of the up and coming market competitors) on site, too. Well worth checking out.whilst in Belfast. Tickets can be purchased in advance, but we just paid on the day, with not much difference in price.

Great insight into the distant and recent history of Belfast. Some great exhibits. Video presentations made it easy to get to take it all the history in. Some very moving stories.

Best attraction in Belfast. Excellent tour that covers the prison and history from victorian times to the troubles. Great multimedia and real places make a very engaging visit covering perspectives from all sides. Highly recommended!

Not sure what I was expecting but it was really good, if you see it all and stay for food it'll take you a few hours. There were lots of video's played in the cells explaining the history and seeing the larger cell as the last place an inmate stayed before hanging was abolished. It was all very informative. The restaurant food was really nice and the prices were reasonable too.

Excellent experience. Well arranged exhibits and video guides along the tour. We combined the experience with a black taxi tour of the troubles. This was so amazing and so moving. Well worth it and excellent value for money.

Visited the old prison here to pass some time. £14.50 it costs on entry. We didn't book and was fairly quiet. Nice to see a bit of history, and although you don't see the whole of the grounds, you get to see some of the cells and the execution cell (although you can bypass this if required). A little gift shop at the end but plenty of history, and they tell the story well. Over the road, there is the old court house. This is now a derelict building, and there's no access. You get to see the tunnels that they built, though that join up both buildings. Overall, it was a good experience that lasted around one hour and was worth the entrance fee.
