Crunch Fitness - Abilene

No clue how this Crunch location is still operational. - Sauna stinks and never been deep cleaned before. - Cable machines are not serviced and you can feel resistance while using them. - No one re racks the weights after using the equipment. - Not enough attachments for cable machines. The ones we have are broken/damaged. - Never saw single staff on the floor helping members or cleaning, they seem to like the front desk and office more. - Cardio machines are not well installed and wobbles alot. I have been to multiple Crunch locations and this one by far is the worst I have seen/experienced.

Im in this facility all times of the day and night. My job requires me to be on call so the 24 hour availability is perfect. The biggest problem is have with this location is the cleanliness. No one EVER cleans the women's locker room and you can smell the body odor in the gym itself when you walk in. Absolutely disgusting. If you can smell a gym, the machines are NOT going to be clean. Im going to check out Anytime Fitness this week to see if it's cleaner. I used to go to Planet Fitness for years but they close at night or I'd still be there. I hope they fix this because this gym has potential but the employees don't care or it wouldn't be this bad. The restroom floor has what looks like pee spots in the stalls that have turned black with dirt. The shower curtains are torn and soiled with what looks like poop. The locker room has dirt and hair all over the floor. Straight up not impressed given how much I pay a year to use this place. Based on the other negative reviews, this is a continuing problem with this place.

Well I wasn’t going to leave a review but some things happened that bothered me. 1. They had an older man who was openly watching porn in the sauna with other men, who had been reported for doing so several times. I saw him and reported it and they didn’t bother to kick him out even though kids under 18 use the sauna they don’t seem to care about that. Real nice culture they are building there. He still works out there currently. 2. Tried to cancel my membership as I haven’t been in Abilene for a few months and haven’t been using the gym. They told me I have to come all the way back in person or I have to mail them a letter. After asking if I could speak with a manager and just send a email they just hung up on me without connecting me with anyone wasn’t rude or anything. 3.locker room is always gross and they used treated wood to replace old wood in sauna which is dipped in chemicals and harmful to breathe in. When I brought it to their attention they didn’t remove it or change it but left it not caring whether it has harmful effects on their members. Hope this helps if you’re looking for a gym in Abilene. Update: owner commented he would have regional manager get with me. Didn’t happen nobody contacted me. I had someone drop off a letter in person more than three weeks ago and was charged on my card today. So the saga continues 😂

Super nice gym! I’ve tried out several Abilene gyms and this one is my favorite. Like all gyms, there’s peak times when it’s going to be busy so just expect that. But even when it’s busy (before 8am and after 5pm), they have enough space and equipment for everyone. Love the classes they offer here! Jason is one of my favorite instructors but you can’t go wrong with any! I love that they offer personal training, sauna, massage chairs, tanning, and more. Even childcare for up to 2 hours while the Kids crunch room is open! Which they have great hours i think it’s 8am-1pm then 4pm-8pm weekdays, and then they are also open weekends too. The Kids crunch staff are highly qualified, very friendly, and care about getting to know the kids. They encourage playing over technology usage, which is important to me. I have saved money going here to tan instead of a tanning salon! They offer free 7 day trials often, so check this gym out! I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised!!

I like their gym and all the equipment, though peak periods can be a bit crowded. The hydro massage and red light therapy are pretty nice too. They have tanning if that's your thing. A sauna as well, which is great for detox. Though the shower pressure and intermittent lack of heat leaves much to be desired.

Great atmosphere clean equipment and staff is beyond helpful if I were to choose a gym to go to daily this would be the one

The gym is good but the reason for a 2 star is because there is never any paper towels or spray to wipe down the machines. If they can’t keep up with that then it makes me wonder how often they actually clean the gym including restrooms/showers.

Crunch is a very below average gym, it’s dirty, they don’t clean or stock any of their equipment, and 90% of the workers their come off like they don’t like nor care for their job. It’s cheap but for what it comes with has price, if the show with bosses going uncover at their company was still around and the CEO of crunch went to this building, it would be shut down immediately. I was a loyal customer to this company for 3 years using the same crunch card. I wanted to use my benefits I pay hard money to go into their pockets for, the workers randomly tell me I don’t have a membership and my card simply has never had an account. Mind you I have been using that card to log in for 3 years and I had also used the hydro chairs more than a dozen times just to be told I’ve never had an account. I was dealing with this issue in a severe unprofessional, lack of miscommunication, and overall not understanding what their job is and what is happening. I was given an attitude because the unqualified workers themselves were confused, clueless, and useless. So that alone begs the question, if my card membership never existed and I was paying for some other account why was I let in just fine for 3 years and able to use the hydro chairs multiple times? And I’m seeing in the reviews multiple things just like this issue has happened to many other people. I was told I was kicked out and given an attitude by all the workers in the building. The most embarrassing workers and management I literally have ever seen in my entire life. It is embarrassing to be such an unprofessional aggressive uptight worker about the company crunches mistakes. And even seeing the bad reviews I see the manager/“owner” (lol) coming off so back handed and actually giving an insulting attitude to at least 85% of the people who have anything bad to say about them. It speaks volumes to the state the gym is at today and it really is a telling sign that crunch is unfortunately doomed to be the next Hastings and replaced with something better, and that will solely be the workers and the management’s fault. This incident happened over a year ago I’m just bringing it to light seeing everyone else’s similar story’s and reviews while also seeing the “owner” is keeping an unprofessional attitude to anyone that has anything against the company to say so that way they don’t have to face their actions or consequences. I now only go to crunch to help friends that still use their membership work out because it’s CHEAP and even now absolutely nothing has changed, and you get what you pay for in the company’s money hungry eyes. Just bite the bullet and go somewhere else’s. Wait for the building to get bought out in the next five years.

We were looking for a kid friendly daycare and Crunch is the only one in town. My toddler has autism, and I was worried about him being with other kids, how'd he react, etc. I was worried he wouldn't be understood and this would be another thing I'd just have to give up on. To start off, the gym is great. We've tried out a few classes that were challenging, but the instructors let you go at your own speed. I don't feel patronized or judged. Everything is always clean, nice sterilization stations, and staff has always been friendly and helpful. I truly don't feel judged for trying to get back in shape after having a kid. But the daycare: fantastic. I was hesitant to explain my son's diagnosis, since I still don't know how to navigate telling people. The daycare staff very professionally asked me if he had autism. They're all amazing with him and he gets so excited to go play. I feel safe knowing he's in good hands and I've asked them to call me if there's any problems. He gets to go have fun in a different environment and socialize, and I get to actually have time to work on myself. I can't say enough good about Crunch. If you have kids, I highly recommend it. It does get chaotic during peak daycare hours some days, but the staff manage to keep the kids safe, occupied, and happy. Thank you for making a safe, inclusive area for my son.

Only thing this gym has going for it is that it 24hr and has a sauna. It always dirty and gross.

Lived there for multiple years however due to moving via being in the military they don't have an advanced system to cancel such as, an email, a phone call, or the ability to cancel on the website they have, which encourages new people to join their gym. For the last three years I have paid for a membership that I have not had the liberty of using. It is very disappointing.

It's a awesome gym, they have great trainers and it's 24/7 so you can come and go as you please. Look if you really want to change your health and your fitness this is a great place to start. Also, if your looking for personal trainer ask for Kane, he will give you the best workout!

Dog-friendly gyms are such a great idea! It's awesome to be able to work out and spend time with your furry friend. I love how these gyms create a welcoming environment for both humans and dogs. It's a win-win situation!

Place is to crowded and they charge your bank acct. on file without you knowing for all kinds of stuff. They say $9.99/month up to like $30/month, nope lol When you bring it up they make up things that you never agreed to and then they say they don't do refunds or stop payment on payments already set to go threw. Don't do personal training, they charge you for sessions that are overpriced and won't do refunds on sessions they've already charged you for but don't use. How can you owe them money when it's supposed to be cancel anytime and it's $9.99/month? Oh and then there going to send your account to collections lol don't believe me see the photo. They use a third party billing Co. for gyms you can't get ahold of to dispute charges as well. John, I understand this is your gym, but don't think by putting a comment on this bad review that it will fix your operational issues and shady business practices. If you want to fix the problems then make sure your employees are knowledgeable on how the business operates, provide great customer service and get rid of the lengthy contract no one reads. Put a card on file and charge a single fee each month, don't charge other fees; incorporate them into your once a month fee. Offer refunds for customers that are unsatisfied with your services. Don't allow people to accumulate a bill when your team was told to cancel a contract but failed to do so. Don't send peoples bills to collections when it's supposed to be month to month and cancel any time. If you fix this John I will update this comment to show everyone y'all did the rite thing.

Bunch of crooks. Studio was dirty, machines were old staff were rude and uncaring. Stole my money.

Do not sign up for this. You will NEVER be able to cancel this membership! I have been trying for three months to cancel the membership and it is impossible. I signed up all online without ever stepping foot in the gym and in order to cancel you have to be in the gym and have a zero-due balance. After I came in to cancel and signed the paperwork they are still charging me so now I have a past-due balance. I will not pay fees that I do not owe just so I can cancel. I called the 806-300-0036 which is in INDIA and no matter who I spoke to they can not help me get this membership canceled. I can write a letter but again they will not cancel the membership unless I pay the fees that I do not owe. This is the worst gym membership in the history of gym memberships...FRAUD so BEWARE

I have been a Crunch member since January and have enjoyed my top membership, bringing friends to workout with me and getting spray tans and massages when I want. I am moving soon and went in today and was able to quickly and easily cancel my membership with the help of a nice dude with a beard.

Friendly staff. Lots of workout options and childcare! Hope is great to work with. She is very knowledgeable about the programs they offer and ensure the gym is clean.

The best gym in town and really worth the $$$ Amazing group fitness classes and all around great facility that is always clean. So many great amenities and helpful employees.

Dont sign up unless you make them print your exit out policy. make them go over the fine print. Crunch changed thier policy . They orginally set up to give you 60 days that if you want to cancel you would not be charged annual fee only monthy dues. I tried to close out my sons account after 39 days he only went 1 time. they changed the policy that you cant close out your accout before 60 days . so I was lucky enough to be charged annual fee and next months membership do to close out an accout that was open for 39 days. Closed out my account also Im not going to give money to a Buisness who doent give you the fine print or let the existing customers know they changed policy or tell you when you want to open a new account that they will be charging you fees for something you wont be going to.

my account has been paused since april. went in this week to cancel and was told that before i could cancel i had to unpause my account, pay another month, and then i could cancel. i asked for proof of this...it doesnt say this in my contract or on the paper i signed when pausing my membership...staff was unable to show me any proof that this is how it works. manager was gotten and she pretty much refused to help. i know that its possible to zero out the account and end the membership on the spot bc it was done last month for my daughter when she canceled. i argued for half an hour about how i did not want to pay another month if they could not prove to me that i agreed to this. in the end i was told..well there is no proof but this is how it is. a 5 yr member of this gym and i will never go back..and i will tell everyone how awful they are. staff told me that the owner is terrible and the only way to reach him is by a yelp review so here it is.

I decided to join this gym around the big inning of the year because it was brand new and I figured the equipment and facilities would be clean and in top condition. It is now a few months after opening and, for the most part, the gym is maintained the cleanliness and usability of the equipment. While there are machines that are broken from time to time, I suppose that is part of gym life. The amenities that the gym offers are nice. There is a sauna in the locker room, hydro massage chairs for after a workout, and even tanning, which I may actually try one day. There is ample parking in the parking lot and it's fairly well lit up when I go at night.

I love a bunch of the stuff that crunch offers including child care (game changer) I just need them to open a second location here. It is ALWAYS so busy that you are ALWAYS waiting for equipment etc. and parking is a massive issue for this location. I would consider rejoining if they added more weight machines vs treadmills etc and offered a second location.

Great price and a lot of options. My wife and I used to work out at another gym and it was always so dirty in comparison. Yes it's busy, but it's also by far the best deal. The one complaint I had about super loud music was even addressed and it's much better.

I live in Las Vegas and I visited this facility while I was in town. This facility has everything you could ever need for a complete workout. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful in your fitness needs/goals. Do yourself a favor and pay them a visit. You won't regret it.

Elliot was great. The gym has everything from Olympic clean racks to punching bags. I've been to many gyms in my life (planet fitness, 24-hour, UFC, etc.), and this gym has everything that I need without gouging my pockets.

First I called and they gave me a price, $10, then someone called me for a follow up and she told me a price, $30 then I went to sign up and they gave me a different price that was higher, fine I didn't care that much I just hate when they lie, Once that part was over I was really glad they had a daycare, and after talking to them about how I'd only be here for a month they helped me accommodate my needs, that was awesome, but then once I paid for it and started going they started checking my temperature every time I'd go in, if I had a fever I wouldn't go in, its unnecessary, no big deal but then they started telling me I couldn't go in without a mask, that made me mad because I'm at the gymn and it's hard enough to breathe while working out without one, besides the fact it's unconstitutional to mandate masks I can make my own health choices just like you can make your own, so much bacteria in that damp cloth and at the gymn it's sweaty too, do you know how unhealthy breathing all that bacteria thriving off the humidity is? A mask won't save you, being healthy will, if you're that worried stay home, us healthy ones can work together to take care of the weak, no need to forget bodily autonomy and shut down the country, if you like being able to choose, please don't take away that right from others even if you don't agree

Gym equipment has been very dusty and dirt. Management should step in when short staffed but instead works out. Daycare was closed today and as many mass texts or emails we receive about special events we should receive notice that normal daycare hours are closed due to staff shortage or management should step in to accommodate clients.

They charged my card 3 times every month for my membership and I could never get their app to work to let me sign in at the front desk. I joined because all my friends worked out here and recommended it. I cancelled my membership after repeated triple charging of my card. When brought up to staff they said there was nothing they could do and recommended I stop checking my account.

An absolutely horrible company to work with. When COVID-19 started I emailed and called numerous times. Never had any response. They continued to bill me so I finally had to cancel through the bank. I continued to try to contact them with zero response. Today I receive me a note from a collection agency as they turned in my account. Their business model is to take your money and not respond. I have heard the same from many others. Amazing how they treat people.

My review is strictly for the General Manager Ashley at the Abilene, TX location. She is truly the kindest person who 100% cared about the people who go to Crunch. I had a problem today with my account and she was so sincere and honest and I felt a billion times better. People like this are ones you want to give your business to. Thanks Ashley!

The gym itself has an amazing atmosphere and great equipment ranging from the tanning beds to the fitness equipment. Chris at the front desk goes above and beyond when I come in every morning, and most of the trainers are great with answering questions and are very open to helping when they can. The problem is the manager. There have been several instances where I have seen and heard him yell at his employees in front of members. His lack of respect to the people who keep this gym going is really upsetting. How can you treat young adults who are just trying to get by like they don't matter? Disgusting.

The facility is very nice and very well kept, but I didn't realize there was a 2 month requirement before you could cancel your membership. Really wish there was an option to pay a set amount for a month or two when I come home during winter and summer break from college instead of having to pay for an annual membership that I can't use when I'm away from home.

The facility itself is nice, I enjoy the atmosphere and the front desk and pt employees are really helpful when asking questions... my only concern/ problem is that the front desk manager Wayne is rude to his employees and can often be heard yelling at them. I see new employees in there all the time and can only imagine that's part of the reason...

Love this gym! I have tried many others and this one is top notch. It has great equipment and friendly staff. And everything included for the reasonable fees! I highly recommend everyone trying Crunch Fitness.

I love to lift and be able to do different things all the time and Crunch Fitness allows me to do that, also it is opened all the time so if I wanna hit an early morning lift or a late night lift I am able to.
