I was in Victoria for two days, visited Crust Bakery on the first morning and absolutely fell in love with the place and their food! I ended up coming back two more times to grab quick snacks from here. I felt pretty lucky that my hotel was very close to Crust!

We got a BUNCH of things to try- pecan chocolate chip cookie, pistachio tart, frangipane tart, kiougn amann, tomato feta croissant, almond twist & passion fruit lemon meringue. These items are VERY easy on the eyes - everything LOOKS delish! But man oh man - when I say they are just pretty - I mean they are JUST pretty. We were absolutely disappointed with everything except the tomato feta croissant. I’ve never been to a bakery where everything looked picture perfect like made to perfection, and then everything we got had no particular flavor and basically just sweet! We truly couldn’t believe it. We were so sad! Let me break each down - pecan chocolate chip cookie(just sweet no buttery cookie flavor), pistachio tart(thick gloopy inside that had NO pistachio flavor just VERY sweet like pure thickened condensed milk that was colored green with some crushed pistachio on top), frangipane tart(absolutely NO almond paste or even almond flavor just a semi moist crumbly texture like they used almond meal topped with berries), kiougn amann(how can you call this a kiougn amann!? It isn’t even croissant like at all- NOT buttery or flaky or have a caramelized bottom/top- it is basically a cinnamon bun bread dough that is scrunched up to look like a kiougn amann shape but is FAR from it), tomato feta croissant(was basic and good but seriously how can you really mess this one up), almond twist(had a pleasant crunch but NO almond flavor, butter flavor, or sweetness even- VERY light on sugar) & passion fruit lemon meringue(should call it lemon passion fruit - the first bite or so you can taste passion fruit but it fades fast with such a strong punch of lemon). I write this not to put this place down, but to warn others not to waste their money if they are enticed to go crazy as we did because everything looks delicious - you will be deceived. We recommend nothing from here - go to Fol Epi for kiougn amann and DEF go to GoodSide Pastry House for croissants & Sesame Snap Palmier(you can DEF TASTE butter) and probably anything from them tbh! On Friday’s- go to Working Culture Bread for their chocolate sour dough! I go to bakeries to experience the FLAVORS - NOT for a tasteless sugar rush!!!

Visit at 5pm but most of the items are sold out, so I went again the next morning 9am. Still some of the items sold out because they have some limited items everyday. Both sweet and savoury options available. Sourdough can be sliced, cost like 7CAD. Some highchairs available in store for you to order a coffee and chill. Orders taken in a timely manner with queue digested fast. Location is prefect in Victoria downtown, walking distance from legislative council.

This is my 2nd year in a row ordering my birthday cake from Crust Bakery, and it’s ALWAYS a hit with my friends!!!! I will always brag about Crust Bakery, I had the wonderful opportunity to get to know the owner Crystal at an old job. Crystal truly has a wonderful vision and passion for her work, and her staff really demonstrates the shared values! I order the Old School, and I’m never ever disappointed with it! It’s the perfect balance of natural sweetness, delicacy and texture. The cake is so soft and spongy, the fruit adds a beautiful crunch and sweetness, and the icing is truly wonderful. The first picture is from my 30th birthday and it was the 9”. It fed my party of 30+ with no issues! The second picture is from this year, and it’s the 7”. It fed my party of 20+ again with no issues! The white chocolate plaques are also work the extra $5, they white chocolate is not sickly sweet, and so lovely! I can’t say enough good things about Crust. Any time I get a chance to stop at the bakery I WILL. The freshness and affordability is worth it all Emma and Quinn were very helpful to work with for this years cake, I was able to pick up my cake early which was extremely helpful for me and my plans. I’m just so so thrilled. The cost of the cakes are up there, but it’s truly worth it. The benefit of shopping local, supporting local and a woman owned business is a win-win! I’m happy spending on cakes because for my birthday I want what I want, and Crust never ever disappoints me.

Google
Came to Victoria on a trip at the start of the year, and we kept going back to this bakery. Their pastries are delicious and the staff are super friendly. All this alongside affordable pricing makes it one of my favorite bakeries.

Google
There was a time when I went here almost every single day. But I’ve noticed that some of the staff were just off. They’re all friendly and happy to meet CERTAIN customers but not to everyone especially the short lady with black, wavy hair. I’ve observed that she chooses the customers she’s nice to. The other staff were incredibly welcoming though. The coffee is okay and their creme brule is amazing.

Went into this place for a coffee & croissant whilst on holiday in Victoria. There was a queue of a dozen people before it opened. Really popular and you can see and taste why.

Visited this location in October 2024. This place was a great visit on our recent vacation, we ended up going both days while in Victoria! Excellent options for various savory and sweet baked goods. Lamination on their pastries are great! Think we ended up with 6+ pastries over two days and they were good even a day or two later. Ended up with two of their cookbooks as gifts as well! Service was solid. Would easily visit this location again if in the area.

Yelp
Small, takeout only, exceptional good bakery. Brought back a bunch of baked goods and the kids loved it and so did their friends. Now, if kids loved the food you got, something is right with the world... Highly recommended.

Alaric S.

Yelp
first time to crust bakery here in victoria canada! the locals rave about how good their pastries are! i think i ate the creme brulee tart late, i didnt get to enjoy the bruleed part of it service was ok, just waited in line to pick pastries! no seats make up the ambiance!

Anjali M.

Yelp
Saw the window display and had to try it. Both pastries I got were incredibly flaky and flavored super well! Loved the strawberry rhubarb with cardamom cream. They had a huge variety from what I saw and I'd definitely like to try more of them!

Dewayne P.

Yelp
We went here on a whim after we saw all the pastries in the window when we walked by. We got the egg nog brûlée. It was absolutely incredible. I had to fight the urge to get a second one since I wanted to save room for more deserts elsewhere. Definitely coming back here just for that one single dish.

Susan C.

Yelp
A must do in Victoria! There was a line out the door but it moved fast and the pastries are very good! We bought only the sweet pastries - almond croissant, blueberry pastry, almond twist, vanilla poached apple pastry, and something else that I already forgot even though it was just an hour ago. Everything was delicious but if I had to choose a favorite, it would be the blueberry pastry. Highly recommend!

Kate N.

Yelp
I came to this place for a quick breakfast to grab and go. There was a line but it went by fairly quick. There were lots of sweet and savory choices to select from. What caught my eye was the cream brûlée tart but I completely forgot about it when I was ordering due to so many other options inside. I needed up getting the bacon quiche, sausage roll, the pistachio tart, the brûlée donut, and the almond croissant. The pistachio was a tad bit sweet for my liking but the pistachio flavor was good for those whom love pistachios. The almond croissant was the best! It wasn't too sweet, light and airy. The sausage roll was sooooo delicious! 10/10 recommend. Ramsey would not be disappointed by the one sold here! The donut was alright, it was not as delicious as how my eyes perceived it.

Arleen E.

Yelp
My niece brings me treats from Crust whenever she visits Seattle. A recent trip to Victoria meant visiting the store and bringing back pastries from Crust. Love their fruit-filled pastries. So flaky and buttery! There is usually a long line, but there was no wait when we went. Highly recommend.

Priscilla Y.

Yelp
Returned for a revisit because...you have to when youre in Victoria! I got many of the same things including their Raspberry Lychee Rosewater Danish but we also got the almond twist, egg and bacon pastry, mango lime cheese tart, sausage roll, asparagus and prosciutto pastry and their raisin roll. All amazing, all flaky and buttery, all good :)

Tiffany D.

Yelp
Still thinking about the Raspberry Lychee & Rosewater Danish from here! The hype and line is very much worth it! I felt like the queue wasn't that bad, especially on weekdays. I also tried their chocolate cookie - absolutely divine. Wish my stomach was bigger so I could have tried more things!

Steph C.

Yelp
Had what felt like one of everything and the clear stand outs were the chocolate or vanilla cronut, the cruffin, and the lychee raspberry rose water pastry. The cronut was filled with chocolate (or vanilla) pastry cream and drizzled with chocolate or vanilla on top as well. The cruffin had a light crispy exterior and moist, chewy, airy interior and lots of filling. The lychee pastry was really special--have never had anything like it before and the flavor was insanely good! Lots of people working behind the counter, service was pretty fast. Oh and coffee was great too! Liked this place so much we had their stuff 3/5 days we were in Victoria. Easy to order online and then pick up, but not everything is listed online so I ended up getting more when I showed up to pick up my online order. Def run to this place! (And run after to burn it all off...)

Gabbi W.

Yelp
Crust had the most beautiful shopfront full of decadent looking pastries and sweets, I just had to drop in and try some goodies. You order at the counter and your pastries are boxed up. I wanted to share with the group I was traveling with so I grabbed a blueberry pastry, gluten free chocolate raspberry bread, berry tart, and cruffin. Everything was so delicious and just perfect! I appreciated that there were gluten free options for my husband to enjoy. Highly recommend!

Healthygirl O.

Yelp
I visited again and the sourdough bread was actually very good. Would come back for the bread and may try another pastry. Would not recommend any of the gluten free treats however.

Joel B.

Yelp
Got a plain croissant and a pain du chocolat. Both were good taste and texture. Nothing spectacular, but solid.

Margaret W.

Yelp
I ordered my cake, for my wedding. December23,2024 I paid for x2 choc plates to print on the cake as it was round white cake they were supposed to have both our names on it and the wedding date and yea. They didn't do that. I paid for something I did not get. and they wrote on the wedding cake sloppy on top thin chocolate writing which looked awful I was very dissatisfied. the cake was delicious but pictures of the cake looked terrible. Maggie

Yelp
Line was long but moved fast! I started in line outside the building but was already ordering within about 5-10 min. I got a few tarts: Mango lime - my personal fave, get this if you like mangos/tartness! Pecan bourbon chocolate - 2nd favorite! Tasted like a pecan tart but with chocolate & a hint of bourbon! Pistachio - just okay. Wasn't a fan of the pudding-like texture of the ganache and it tasted more sweet than actual pistachio. Other items I got: Vanilla cronut - tasty but didn't realize the vanilla was filling (thought it was just a glaze). Very messy for my toddler who I bought it for! Sausage fennel roll - it was good, nothing amazing but I enjoyed it with some ketchup.

Katherine G.

Yelp
Yummy pastries! We came in the mid-morning to grab a bite before lunch, and there wasn't too long of a wait. The line moves fast and you pick the pastry you want and they package it up nicely for you. We got the raspberry peach pastry with pistachio crumble, and it was great! The pastry itself was flaky and not too sweet, and the raspberry cream paired with the custard underneath was delicious.

Gaël C.

Yelp
Delicious pastries, great hummus falafel wraps, coffee Africano was okay, but the London fog was A1 Staff was nice, place is a little cramped but that ain't their fault. Go here.

Long K.

Yelp
Probably the most underrated place Victoria has to offer. There's tons of bakeries around, but this one is just doing everything right. The pastries are the best around, as all had consistently crisp bottom and flakiness throughout. The flavors were very balanced without being overly sweet. Their best ones are definitely the Sour Cherry, and Apple Crack ones. If you're lucky enough to get a cruffin with strawberry jam...just do it. I found myself making a return trip just to get a bunch more for the trip home.

Allen S.

Yelp
Not a single item we didn't thoroughly enjoy! We tried the lychee rose water pastry, the cruffin, the snickerdoodle, and the passion slice. All were extremely delicious and struck the right balance of buttery and sweet without going overwhelmingly in either direction. The line was long, but went quickly, so don't let that deter you!

Shonah M.

Yelp
Crust Bakery where have you been all my life!?? Goodness gracious #superyummylicious I had no idea about this bakery until I got to Dutch Bakery 2 shops away. What caught my attention was the long lineup but fortunately, it was moving fast. Please note - zero indoor seating available. This is a pick-up & go bakery. The cashier was very helpful & was involved with my selection - Vanilla Kro-nut, Lemon Passionfruit Slice, Banana Bread & Lemon Brioche Donut & Strawberry Custard Pastry. It was all fresh & oozing in deliciousness. This bakery supplies bread to Bear & Joey were I had brunch. See my review. When I come back to Victoria, you'll find me right here! It's been voted best bakery in Victoria.

Brian L.

Yelp
High quality fresh baked goods. I truly enjoyed my sour cherry danish but did not find it better than other high quality bakery's. Staff was polite and helpful.

Ingrid B.

Yelp
We came back to Victoria in June and made a point of coming back to this incredible bakery. I will say - stick with the sweet items. The savory are not as good. But the sweet items - pistachio tart, passion fruit slice, a nutella almond pastry - YUM!

Sandra C.

Yelp
Amazing! Long lines outside the door indicated this is a popular place! The window display shows the baked goodies and the inside has a smaller display with names/prices of each item. The croissant was the BEST I have ever had, even better than the ones I have eaten in France. It was HUGE. It was crispy, flaky, buttery with a light touch of honey on the outside, even on the bottom. It was soft, with layers, and light on the inside. It was also the least expensive of the baked goodies and the best tasting. The bacon quiche was good; the chocolate filled chocolate cronut was very rich; and rasberry danish was tasty. I wish I ordered another croissant.

Lizzy M.

Yelp
Very cute, small bakery! It can get pretty crowded in the morning, I came here at around 10 and the line was about 5 minutes long. Other than that it was great! The employees were kind and efficient, and our food was delicious. I got a blueberry croissant and a decaf cortado. Highly recommend!

Cindy W.

Yelp
Super delicious and worth the wait! Too bad our bellies can't really accommodate "one of each, please!" No room to enjoy at the shop, but if you can walk and eat, you should stop in and delight a few of the five senses!

Hong N.

Yelp
My favorite bakery in Victoria BC so far! So many options, opens early, and not one item we didn't love. We got 2 quiches, 2 pastries, chocolate chip and pecan cookie, oatmeal cookie, and creme brulee tarts. The pastries are flaky and crispy. Cookies were crunchy and chewy. The fillings and topping on the quiches and pastries were plentiful and delicious. Definitely recommend.

Nat L.

Yelp
Oh my goodness, if you're ever in Victoria, this is a MUST STOP bakery that you cannot miss out on. Everything is freshly made and the taste of the fresh ingredients was so evident with every bite. I can't remember the exact names of everything we ordered, but it was something along the lines of Cranberry and Orange Muffin, Blueberry Lemon Brioche Donut, and Pumpkin Cheesecake with Gingerbread Crust. The Cranberry Orange Muffin was so so fluffy, and we got it warm so it felt fresh out of the oven! I loved the bits of orange and cranberry that added such a nice tang. Blueberry and lemon is not a flavour combination I'm used to, but I loved it in this donut! The donut was nicely coated in sugar, but wasn't overly sweet which makes it perfect for an early morning or late night snack! The star of the show was definitely the Pumpkin Cheesecake though I love cheesecake and pumpkin, so the two combined was just heavenly. The Gingerbread Crust was such a new, interesting concept for me as well; I thought it was so smart to use a crust that uses spices that also pair perfectly with pumpkin. Be warned: they usually have a line up so you may have to wait in the cold rain. Definitely worth the wait though!

Nicole L.

Yelp
Go...just go here. We spent 4 days in Victoria and visited 3 times. Highly, highly recommend the pistachio custard tart, the sausage roll and vanilla cruffin. Don't go too late or the selection is more limited. Enjoy!

Krista S.

Yelp
You absolutely cannot go wrong here, I'm gluten-free the hubs is not, and we both loved this place. It's busy but the line goes fast. The front window is full of things to look at while you're waiting. We had the gluten-free banana bread and a gluten-free pumpkin muffin, as well as a sausage roll and a vanilla cream cronut. The best was the seasonal filled doughnut that was amazing! Gah! I need to go now!!!

Kay F.

Yelp
Our second visit to Crust Bakery and it was so delicious! We got some old favourites like the pistachio tart and berry danish but ended up getting some new items as well like the almond croissant and a kouign. My personal favourite this time around was the kouign and the pistachio tart was tasty as usual. A must for any visit to Victoria!

Carlo C.

Yelp
Crust Bakery was the bomb. Fresh and delicious pastries that made us come back three times during our recent trip to Victoria. This place can get busy, but they get through the crowd pretty quickly. Crust is an absolute must try!

Courtney O.

Yelp
Surprising little find while roaming the streets of Victoria. You can tell they're popular because they had a steady flow of customers, but moved quickly. They have some items displayed to see from outside and others that you have to enter to choose from. We went with the kouign-amann, chocolate croissant and pecan pie. Everything was delicious! The kouign-amann had the perfect crunch. That bottom layer of sugary glaze was everything. The chocolate croissant also had a great crunch but was so buttery and flaky on the inside. The little pecan pie was super cute and perfectly sized for one person. It was a little mini pie! All in all, 3 out of 3 hits from this little unassuming shop filled with delicious treats.

Amy P.

Yelp
I walked past Crust a few times in Victoria and new I needed to stop. Their window was always filled with amazing things so I had a hard time deciding what to grab. I decided on the blueberry danish and then the donut of the day (which was flavored with lemon inside). The danish was TO DIE FOR. I would absolutely order this again in a heartbeat. The crust was SO flaky and you could tell they put a ton of effort into it. The donut though wasn't my favorite and I would order something else next time but that's not to say it was bad- it was light and fluffy and perfectly made, just wasn't my favorite. Honestly a superb little place that deserves all the love it gets.

Maria R.

Yelp
I bookmarked Crust before our visit to Victoria because I saw they had kouign amman, and ever since we found the perfect kouign amman in Quito, Ecuador (of all places), we have been on the hunt for something on par with it close to home. Crust's kouign amman is a reasonable substitute. Flakey but not excessively carmelized on the outside (which my husband marked as a negative), their kouign amman is light, sweet, and addictive. The star of the show, though, is the lemon brioche with lemon custard and a blueberry on top. If you love lemon like I do, you'll love the unapologetically intense lemon flavor of the custard. We visited on a Wednesday morning so it wasn't as busy, but I could see how the small space could get packed on a summer weekend. Visit during an off hour and try to find street parking around the corner.

Kate S.

Yelp
So good. Got sour cherry pastry, egg bacon tomato pastry, almond pastry, sausage roll and blue berry pastry. They were all super yummy! Would def go back if I had a chance.

Matthias J.

Yelp
Amazing pastries and wide selection. We went at 7:55 am and there was already a (short) line at the door waiting for the shop to open at 8:00. Everything was fresh, except maybe the little quiches, which I should have had heated up. Not a ton of space to sit inside, but great place to grab and go. Would come here all the time.

T O.

Yelp
I've ordered twice from this bakery. Very delicious deserts and friendly staff. ......

Linda U.

Yelp
Good coffee and and amazing selection of pastries. The line moved quickly. Very little seating.

Vivek S.

Yelp
Totally an accidental discovery which turned out to be what I can say with conviction the best bakery I have ever been too. Lives to its name where the desserts had a nice signature crusty base. I ordered the blueberry danish and the raspberry lychee danish. Both were just at the right level of sweetness. I am definitely coming back to this place to try more of their desserts. I am leaving them with 4 stars because I wish they had more place to sit and cherish the dessert with the coffee. It was awkward to take their danishes to a Starbucks and enjoy it with their coffee which I am definitely not at all fond of.

M C.

Yelp
Customer service and welcomeness was first rate. The pastries all looked fabulous. I settled on the Red Velvet sandwhich cookie and I was not disappointed. Hands down the beat cookie I have ever had. Highly recommended the "Crust" if you are in visiting Victoria.

Dana O.

Yelp
I saw photos of the lychee, raspberry, and rosewater cream Danish pastry and I knew I needed to try it. I went closer to the evening and they still had it. My friend saw the apple Danish too and decided to get one. Both were very good. I think if they offered toasting the pastries, it would be taken it up a notch as it was a little harder to chew at room temperature. I still enjoyed it because I like crunchy textures but my bf couldn't enjoy it as much. The flavors were all there and intermingled well for the lychee one. The apple one made me think of apple pies. Pastries were around $5.25!

Caitlin B.

Yelp
Lovely bakery! I snagged the last savory feta, tomato, and pesto pastry and it was sooo good. The staff is extremely friendly and service was fast. Highly recommend!

Joshua M.

Yelp
Unfortunately, there isn't any outdoor seating. That would make this place surely a 5! We had an iced latte and an iced mocha latte. Both met expectations. We tried three different pastries- two were amazing- the strawberry turnover lacked much strawberry. The service was great.

Michael S.

Yelp
Fortunately, found this bakery on our first day in Victoria and ended up getting breakfast here 6 out of 7 days visiting. Wide variety of pastries and savory items. Consistently busy in morning and only a few seats inside but most business is take out. Service was top notch and would be a shame not to visit Crust when in Victoria.

Donna D.

Yelp
Crust Bakery is the way to go for a quick bite breakfast. In terms of COVID safety, they have a good system in place. They limit the number of parties inside with two lines outside, one for picking up orders, and another waiting to place them. After we were mesmerized by the window of offerings, when it was our turn, we decided on ordering two of the Raspberry, Lychee, Rosewater and Pistachio pastry's and chai tea lattes. For breakfast dessert, I had the marshmallow smore tart and my partner had a chocolate raspberry loaf. All of the baked goodies were packed in a carry-friendly box and we found a bench to sit and eat outside. Everything was so yummy! The smore had me in a guilty sugar shock (but I walked that off). What a scrumptious delight of a bakery! If you're downtown and in the mood for a baked sweet, go to Crust Bakery, you won't be disappointed.

Alexandra L.

Yelp
PRETTY GOOD. Some set backs as stated below Ordered: Mushroom quiche: good balance between mushroom and cheese. Easy to eat. Good crust. Apple danish and sour cherry danish: good crust. Probably better warm. Nice sweet taste, not overly sweet -wished the apple one had more fruit Cruffin: too much chocolate frosting, hard crust, better warmed.

Brooke L.

Yelp
There was a line out the door at 10 am on a Thursday morning, but for good reason! They might just have some of the best tarts I've ever had. I'm just disappointed that I didn't bring more home. Can't wait to come back and try more.

Denise R.

Yelp
Fantastic bakery with a wide assortment of delicious savory and sweet pastries. Some unique flavor combinations like lychee and raspberry and more traditional like a delicious almond croissant. We've never been let down by anything here. Highly recommend!!!!

Ben S.

Yelp
We came to Crust twice during our stay in Victoria, for breakfast each time. We arrived early to avoid the lines we read about and each time we walked right in. They have a wide assortment of baked goods, including all the classics and some special offerings. Each time we grabbed some sweet and savory options to try. Every item we got was good and some were incredible, such as the spinach and tomato tart and blueberry almond croissant. We were able to briefly sit on a very small counter with stools, which was the only seating inside, and help ourselves to complimentary water. For most this will be a grab and go situation. Prices were fair and service was prompt and accurate. Put it on your Victoria list!
