The 25 Best Things to Do in Bermuda

"The Crystal Caves of Bermuda, an otherworldly network of caves and subterranean lakes, was first discovered in 1901 by two Bermudian boys who were trying to track down a lost cricket ball. What they eventually uncovered is now one of Bermuda’s true hidden treasures—a cavernous, watery world, complete with centuries-old stalactites and stalagmites. Today, guided tours take visitors deep inside these two Ice Age–era caves where you’ll descend about 120 feet below ground for an unearthly natural experience. A word of caution, though: a tour through the Crystal Caves of Bermuda is not for the faint of heart or for the claustrophobic—the spaces that lead to the caverns are tight. The tour operators recommend that prospective visitors reach out in advance of arrival; walk-in tours are available during peak season." - Katherine Cusumano

"Along with pink sands and green golf courses, these subterranean grottoes are among Bermuda 's iconic sites. First discovered in 1907 by the same family who still owns them, the caverns have spectacular crystal formations, crystalline pools, and underground waterways. Guided tours of the Crystal Cave, which measures more than 1,600 feet long and more than 200 feet deep, explain the differences between stalagmites and stalactites as well as the science behind the impressive underwater formations. A visit to the adjacent Fantasy Cave, which is deeper still, is included in the ticket price."

This was a very cool experience. Our guides were funny, personable, and knowledgeable. The only thing that could have possibly made this better was if we were able to go in the freezing cold water. Fair pricing and a good work out.

Absolutely stunning experience! We toured both the Crystal and Fantasy Caves, and each was incredible in its own way. The caves are well-lit and beautifully preserved, with crystal-clear pools and surreal rock formations. It’s like walking through an underground fantasy world. Fantasy Cave was slightly easier to navigate, especially if you have limited mobility — the paths had more grip and felt a bit safer underfoot. That said, wear non-slip shoes, and don’t be afraid to hold onto the railings. Some stairs and paths can be slick. You don’t need a jacket (at least I did not think a jacket was necessary) — it’s comfortably cool inside, not cold. What really blew my mind was the water clarity. In Crystal Cave and Fantasy Cave, you can clearly see all the way to the bottom of a pool that’s over 40–60 feet deep. You’ll even spot passports, cameras, and phones that people have accidentally dropped in the water — which is off-limits for swimming or retrieval! Learning about the cave’s discovery was just as fascinating. It was found in 1907 when two boys lost a cricket ball and lowered one of them into the cave with a lantern — the boys swam around for two hours in the dark with only a lantern! Not something I’d ever do, but now that it’s lit and guided, it’s absolutely magical. There was a point in the tour where our guy turned off the lights. It was incredibly dark. I have to say again that I would never have swam around in the dark like those boys did when they discovered the cave. Highly recommend this stop — beautiful, safe, and truly unforgettable!

A really nice trip (83 steps) down to the Crystal Caves. A stunning place and great story of how they were discovered. The guide was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and really friendly. It can be a quick trip in and out of the group is less enthusiastic, but you spend as much time as you like down under. Very nice. $24 for one cave visit or $32 for both Crystal and Fantasy Caves. Fantasy Caves have a little more challenging 84 steps down to them, which is nice to drop into the caves. These may not be accessible after heavy rains, for obvious reason.

If you're able to climb the stairs going in and coming out, you really must see the Crystal caves. If you're not able to do it,( one of our family members wasn't able to climb)the grounds on where the caves are are beautiful as well. Lots of wild chickens and roosters and beautiful trees. We bought tickets as soon as we got there and were able to go in with that next tour. If you're coming off the Norwegian water taxi,( NCL cruise line has a free boat ride to St. George) there's a few guys on there that will give you these tokens( for free) that give you VIP priority to go to the front of the line to buy your tickets.

Incredible experience!! Definitely recommend. The property is amazing to walk around and relax. Chickens everywhere with their babies and we saw some goats too. The caves were challenging with 83 stairs down and back up and there are little benches to rest if anyone needs to. Our guide Cory was very knowledgeable friendly and patient.

Overall the crystal caves were neat to see and a nice cool break from the humid heat. The guide was nice. You get about 30 mins to walk through guided. It’s pretty expensive to see one, but going to both you save about 25%. I wouldn’t put this on my must see list in Bermuda but if here for a few days it would make sense.

Our tour guides were so funny and amazing! So much beautiful scenery before you even enter the caves! If you have trouble with stairs, please look into first, 88 and 83 steps to the caves! And 100% humidity in the caves! It was so beautiful and such a fun experience!

Our tour guide was great, and the tour itself was awesome! Also the gift shop had a lot of cute things. We bought a geode and cracked it open when we got home as a memory!
