Of course, there may be plenty of places in town that offer the luxury city feeling you may desire, but I would highly recommend Crystal Inn for many reasons.
The price of this hotel was great considering the great, accessible location, parking is also included, which is a nice touch. Very close and walkable to everything, with good restaurants just a block or so over. For your convenience, if you so desire, McDonald's is even open next door what seems to be all hours of the day. The hotel offers complimentary continental breakfast (not my thing, but it's nice that they offer it) with a good variety also, as well as coffee - even a dispenser for iced coffee. Their little store with snacks and goodies has the biggest variety of pick me ups offered by a hotel.
My husband and I stayed a few days here in SLC for the first time, and the general consensus of people, including your team here at this hotel, was the service and friendliness were exemplary.
I would like to give a big kudos to Emerson (I believe that was his name) whose kindness really stood out. He was so kind and patient from the moment we checked in, even giving us a list of restaurants that were open on Thanksgivings, and when I asked about local activities, he wrote down some suggestions for local things to do. Excellent service and very kind.
We got the 'vip' upgrade perhaps because we booked with Expedia, but nevertheless, I was very surprised to stay in the room with the big jetted tub in it. They also offered us bottled water and a few snacks.
The room furnishings were average of what you'd expect, but everything was very clean. The bathtub in the room was sparkling clean - this was even better than the time we booked a room in a major Vegas hotel with a tub, that wound up having hair and dirt in it. The bed was comfortable, lots of places to charge things, and good space for all your stuff. The hotel also has an indoor pool, sauna, and gym.
Once again, the hotel is not fancy or upscale, or modern at all, but everything is clean, comfortable, upkept, and the people are nice - this is an anomaly when you come from Los Angeles.
