We had a lovely stay in the master king room. The view was lovely morning, evening and night. The room was emasculate and I liked the modern decor. Absolutely loved the double bathroom and all the finishes. The buffet breakfast overlooking the harbour was a highlight for my son, the food was delicious. The location is perfect with so many great places to eat at your doorstep and only minutes drive from the beach. I highly recommend staying here.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was lovely and the bed was really comfortable. That is a huge plus for us! From a tech-perspective, I wasn't a fan of the push button lights and although there was TV on demand, we were not able to access any channels on the live TV option. Also the bar fridge wasn't very cold, with no option to make it colder. I did enjoy the water dispensers. Overall, it's a beautiful hotel and centrally located. We would recommend it to others and we would stay again.

Have just stayed at Crystlebrook Newcastle. Went to a matinee show at The beautiful Civic Theatre, but unfortunately had a fall on the way out (due to a hypotension episode). Patrons and staff were very quick to help be up which I greatly appreciated. I was wheelchaired back over to the Crystelbrook staff transferred me into one of their chairs and Josh was very kind in getting me back yp to my room, and making sure I was OK before he left. The staff in the morning were just as good in helping me to my car with taking my small overnight bag so I could just concentrate on walking down the ramp.||As far as the hotel goes, this my 4th stay with them and they never disappoint. Love the rooms, the beds are very comfortable and pillows are great. A couple of USB outlets as well as ample plugs. The bathrooms are well set up and I love the rain shower. This is my go to hotel whenever I see a show. The only negative is the $50 valet parking price. I am a member and think you could give a discount for that. Maybe that's something you could look into. Other than that, love this hotel.

Lovely hotel, very helpful Reception, Bar and Restaurant staff. Check In was flawless. Rooms were emaculate and well stocked, but a tad on the small side. Loved the architecture of the building though. If you’re eating at the Restaurants definitely book in advance, we didn’t and were unable to get in - our fault. Breakfast was fabulous - but will say I for 5 stars I expect proper coffee/tea to be included not a machine. We ended up paying for our coffee each morning. Valet parking available at a cost. Housekeeping could be improved. We came back to our rooms at 3pm and found room was not made up - had to ring Housekeeping who promptly sent someone up, but we then had to wait for it to be done. The location is unbeatable if you’re going to Civic Theatre or Honeysuckle foreshore. Close to Restaurants, Bars and beautiful Civic Park. Very close to light rail if you want to go to the beaches. Ultimately we had a great time.

This hotel charges a five-star rate but provides poor services. The food I had there was terrible. It still holds my deposit after I've checked out for over a week, and chased them up for a few times. If you have to stay at this hotel on a business trip or for the sake of its convenient location, simply go out for food. Civic Cafe is just two minutes away, and you can also walk for 5 minutes to nice restaurants at waterfront.

Having stayed in Newcastle many times at another location nearby. And having seen Travel Guides show a segment on the refurbished Council Chambers into a hotel. Our interest was swayed into staying.|First of all, 3 star rating would be a 3.5. |Biggest issue. Parking. Limited space out front for drop off. Ridiculous $50 a night onsite parking. Yet the hotel will validate parking at another parking station a five minute walk away. |Room was well presented. A lot of effort was made in colour coordination and modern look.|Downside. Windows could be cleaned. There was a huge difference between the rooftop bar and restaurant windows. Crystal clear/ dirt and grime.|Light switches. Nice to have a modern touch screen. But the illumination and writing on the pads was so small. One needed a touch to see what light could be turned on. Power points should be abundant next to the bed. In this day and age, with phones, tablets, smart watches. One had to place items around the room.|Detail in presentation. Drinking glasses in room. Mismatched. One glass had a logo that seemed to not belong to the hotel. Plus the one glass had a crack, which the piece of glass broke out. Could have been an injury if my wife had not seen it. Call to room service, hour later, glass was replaced. Not a very good response time.|From 2.30pm, till 8.30pm. Vacuum cleaner was left in hallway. Cleaning staff, or supervisor should be on top of this. |Not that it bothered me. But should there not be a Bible in the room? Or has the regulation changed? |No note pad and pen for jotting down details. |The tablet in the room that is for guests use to for ordering and such. Very basic, and confusing to use. For a Five Star hotel. Breakfast menu only has 4 choices, and basic at that.|We had reserved a window table at the bar. On arrival, we’re told no seats available. Moved to a table other side of room. Yes, the bar has walk-in guests, and paying guests. My opinion, guests should have precedence over walk ins. We were moved to a window seat as it became available.|Staff. Very friendly and helpful. But I believe, still in a learning stage. Were times where inexperience showed.

We stayed in a king harbour room on a Sunday night. Ate at the ground floor cafe (Ms Mary’s) and thoroughly enjoyed our meals (chicken burger and steak burger). We enjoyed the buffet breakfast at the Roundhouse restaurant and we were notified on arrival that barista coffee was extra. We had both had great coffee at breakfast and happy with the buffet. All staff from check in, check out, afternoon staff and evening staff at Ms Mary’s, plus morning staff at the roundhouse on Monday morning were all terrific and attentive and friendly. Will definitely stay again.

Service was terrible, had a fall as no signs to say mind your step into the restaurant and fell and twisted my ankle. No follow up from staff as to how I was etc.. just ignored. For a 5 star hotel, coffee was served in a takeaway cup, as they hadn’t washed the mugs. The mini bar is not restocked everyday nor is the shower cap etc… Very disappointing considering the cost of the accommodation plus an extra $50 a night for parking which you aren’t advised of when making your booking.
